Usually love this place, but they did me dirty today. They have a beef rib special. I love it. They stop running it for a while, and apparently started back up. Havent had it in months and months. Called to make sure they had it, they said yes. I get there exactly 8 mins later, and literally no one is in there. Ghost town. I go up to order, and they dont have it. So i ask " so the 8 mins it took me to get here you ran out" they pause and say yes. Im a loyal customer, the lady who is full time there knows me by face. No apology. No offer of anything else of any kind. Just went on my way. But no guests are there, so they took it all to go i guess? Seems doubtful, and really bizarre. Moral of the story, cant trust them. Just disappointing really, because they do have a good product. Theyre always running out of everything before normal 9-5ers get out of work. This was around 4pm even. read more

Wow! Just wow! I had 4 or 5 people tell me about Troy's in a 2 week period of time so I decided it was time to try it. My favorite BBQ is brisket so that's what I ordered - my 2 side dishes were baked beans and mac n' cheese. My hubby ordered the Chicken and Rib combo with collards and mac n' cheese. First let me say that the brisket was tender and moist. Whatever rub they use is amazing and makes it not need any sauce at all! (Disclaimer: I had the sauce anyway because their sauce is delicious). The mac n' cheese will make you slap your grandma! The collards were great and not a bit bitter. The beans were like dessert - a little too sweet for me, but delicious if you're into sweet beans. Pretty crazy to me that this place has 4 stars. For ~$35 i got the rib and brisket combo with mac and beans. You would think that this would be a decent amount of food. To start.. the place is run down, no ownership inside just a bunch of carefree people with no real ambition to make it a welcoming experience. The food it's self was average at best, the ribs didn't have a ton of meat and the bone was splintered several times ruining a few bites. The brisket was good but a few pieces left a lot to be desired. The mac and cheese was cold and flavorless, and the beans i enjoyed even though they tasted like candy. I would assume this place is on its last leg and will be gone soon, at least that's how the employees attitudes showed. read more

Very disappointing. Our initial order the ribs were cold. We returned them and they gave us more but less than in the original order. They were also cold. For $20 the portion was also very small. The beans and yams, although a little on the sweet side, were good. We commented to the staff on our way and they didn't seem to care. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars so bad. The staff is awesome and super friendly and they have a line as soon as they open. I believe I've been spoiled by competition BBQ places in NC and SC so I have expectations that they aren't meeting. For a BBQ place in this area I will say it's good. The ribs are by far there best dish with the right amount of smokiness. As for the brisket the couple times I've had it, it's been more fat then meat but the flavor has been on point. If you decide to get the Mac and cheese it's a hit or miss. You'll either get bland or perfect, never the same. So should you stop by and try it? I'd say yes. Like I said I want to give it 5 but it's just lacking on consistency. Id like to try them when they are in competition mode and pulling all the stops out. read more

We were very disappointed . When they first opened up they weren't bad at all , they've gone downhill since then . Also, they have on their board for a $5 side , and they charge an extra $5 . Well, we ordered it and we got something a little bit bigger than a Dixie cup , that was not 8 oz , and we got ripped off. They should really change that sign , because you are not getting what you're paying for. As far as the food, not that great , barbecue pork was dry I don't feel I need to drown it with one of the plastic bottle sources on the table . Enough said. You can find better than this place . I had high expectations for this place because of the reviews. However I found the brisket to be bland and lacking in flavor, although the meat was tender. I think the bbq sauce they service with the brisket was delicious and gave the brisket flavor. But good bbq doesn't need sauce in my opinion. The cornbread was average cornbread nothing spectacular. Wow I had wanted some brisket for a while and this place delivered ! We walked in and were welcomed from the guys behind the counter ! That felt great and sooo good from there on I order a combo dinner brisket and pork ribs w/ Mac& cheese and collard greens ....... the ribs were tight and tender and the brisket was sooo juicy ! They brought out a fresh pan of Mac and cheeses and soooo cheesey good. Collared greens soft tender and flavorful with huge chunks of ham. My hubby got brisket and chicken ( we both did. It like it ) and the beans were so sweet it taste like a desert The rice was just as amazing The bathroom was immaculate and the place was super clean. Maybe my friend and I came on a bad day, but besides rather large portions - which is *not* a qualifier for a high rating for me - the flavours and to a degree the quality of the various meats we tried was simply unconvincing. Both my friend and I eat and make too much 'cue to give it more than 2 stars, based on our visit. For fantastic BBQ and down-home hospitality, Troy's Bar-Be-Que is a place that makes me hog wild! Since I first found Troy's at both their former Boca Raton and original Boynton locations back in 2019, I have been a regular thanks to their fantastic food, gracious hospitality, and cozy atmosphere. Upon approach, one will find that this Troy's looks like a fast food restaurant on the outside, as I believe the space was once home to a Miami Subs. In the parking lot, there are also smokers for the meats, just like any authentic BBQ joint. Inside, the restaurant is immaculate and cozy, with floors that look like wood, brick walls, tables and chairs in the middle of the room, booths on the back wall by the window, a counter in the back of the restaurant, and the clean and well-stocked restrooms. They have many items here and they all make superb eats! One of my favorite meats is their Chicken, available in all different portion sizes (don't worry, you will not starve as even the smallest portion is plentiful). I love their Chicken as it was tender and juicy on the inside and had slightly crispy skin on the outside that is savory and slightly sweet thanks to the rub that is used on it. If beef is more your cup of tea, their brisket is another one of my favorites along with a smokey flavor emanating from the hickory used to smoke it. In addition, this brisket is the real deal thanks to the slightly pink smoke ring. I have not tried their ribs as I don't really eat ribs, but from what I saw they looked excellent! Since their meats are so good, I rarely use their sauces on them (however, they are good for dipping my fries in). However, their Barbeque sauces are an awesome accompaniment still, as their original sauce has an excellent balance of savory, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor profiles, the hickory sauce is pleasantly sweet, and their Carolina style mustard sauce has an excellent kick of spice to it. While the meats may be the star of the show, their sides are superb as well. If I am in the mood for a potato, their crinkle-cut French Fries make a teriffic side, as they are fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also love their Collard Greens, which are leafy and perfectly cooked in texture as they are not mushy or undercooked and have a balanced sweet and vinegary flavor.  I also love their Candied Yams, which are fork tender and pleasantly sweet. Also, their Rice and Peas, which are pleasantly savory have become another favorite side of mine. Price wise, Troy's is an excellent value thanks to the food's fantastic quality, generous portions, and prices that are definitely fair for the area. They also have specials like a $10 lunch special, with meat, one side, and a drink, not much more than a lot of fast food restaurants and certainly of much better quality. Their meals, which typically run from from about $13-$22 depending upon the number of meats (1-2) and include two sides, are easily enough for two meals. In addition to the food, the service is outstanding, thanks to employees who are friendly, engaging, polite, patient, and efficient. Shout outs to Ebony, Alexis, Desiree, Marctavius, Anthony (the Owner), and all of the other staff who have helped me. I must give a shout again as on my last visit to pick up takeout, the tap for water was unavailable and I needed some water for one of my dogs, who was in the car with my Mom and our family friend. Since the tap was down, one of the employees immediately got me a bottle of Acqqua Pana. While I would have had no problem paying for it, she gave it to me on the house, which was a generous touch and much appreciated by our fur baby. With its consistently fantastic food, friendly and down-home service, cozy atmosphere, and reasonable prices, it is no wonder Troy's Barbeque has become a favorite and a regular spot for me! read more

Moving from Texas to Florida are BBQ standards are pretty high. After trying almost half a dozen localBBQ places we had almost given up. But I was fortunate to see a billboard ad for Troy's off of I-95 and decided to give it a try. While it may not be the holy grail of BBQ it certainly was the best we have tasted in Florida. My wife and I went for the lunch specials. She ordered the Pulled Pork lunch and I the Rib lunch. Each special came with the entree, a side and a drink. We ordered rib tips and they were not tossed in the bbq sauce and they tasted a bit like lighter fluid, as if they didn't wait to burn off the lighter fluid before adding the meat. The collards were a bit salty with no meat in it. The baked beans, they didn't even try to doctor them up with spices and maybe some smoked meat in it. It was a waste of $65. Warning, you should plan accordingly for the amazing meat coma you're going to fall into after you leave! We've been meaning to come here for such a long time and I'm so glad we did. The style is walk up, order, sit and enjoy. The staff was polite and fast, but even if they weren't it would be worth it! I got a combo with ribs and pulled pork and my boyfriend got the ribs and chicken. We were silly enough to think "oh we need our own". Needless to say we're both super full and have a huge lunch each for tomorrow! The meat fell right off the bones and was flavorful and juicy throughout. This is not a review the restaurant part of Troy's Bar-Be-Que operations located at 1017 N. Federal in Boyton Beach, but of their food truck. I happened to stop by SaltWater Brewery in Delray Beach, and while having a couple of the delicious Belgian Triples decided to get something to eat. As SaltWater doesn't have any food service I thought I might be out of luck but situated in the parking lot was a Troy's Bar-Be-Que food truck which has a number of offerings in plates, sandwiches and sliders consisting of brisket, chicken, ribs and pulled pork. Also sides of collard, mac & cheese, slaw, fries and conch fritters. I had their chicken and fries which was rather good though nothing distinguishing or special. The chicken was moist and did have a good Q flavor about it, better than what you'd find off most other BBQ food truck wagons. read more

Order at the window and wait for that deliciousness to be served up to go or sit at one of the 2 picnic tables. Originally we tried to order brisket from Lucille and found out that they don't make it dry, it's all pre-made waiting to be heated up. So we drove across town to give Troy's a try. When I questioned cashier she looked at woman that made the sandwich and asked her why. She replied there is a sign below counter indicating cost could be higher. Take out | Dinner | $20-30 I ordered the 3 meat combo with 2 sides and corn bread for $28.38 included 4 ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, 2 sides and corn bread. I order that combo all the time it's my go to meal......well seems now that combo at the same price includes only 3 ribs 1/2 the amount of brisket NO 3rd Meat...2 smaller containers of sides and a smaller piece of corn bread....all for the same Price.....the brisket was over smoked and all dried out 1/4 of the slice was all fat that was clearly visible. The cold slaw was warm and mushy...the 2 tablespoon portion of Mac and cheese was warm and lacked any cheese taste.....well I guess next time I'll be going to PA BBQ......no one can argue this the place is filthy look at the counter and back rooms...disgusting time for a visit from the health department..since Covid restaurants feel they can make fools of loyal customers by raising the prices out of sight... read more

Hands down, the best BBQ in South Florida I've tried thus far. I usually are pretty lengthy with my reviews but in this case, Troy's doesn't need a lengthy review. It's pretty simple. If you like smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, rib ends, and/or any of the usual fixens that come with it then don't even think about anywhere else. It's all good. The entire menu. Only draw back is the prices are a little higher then the competition but it's fully justified for the quality of food. There is a weekly lunch special with one choice of meat and fries but you need to add a side if you want something more then fries. The three different sauces of choice should appeal to the sweet taste, the vinegar crowd and the tangy bunch. All so very good. Hit Troy's up if southern BBQ is your thing. Awesome joint! read more

I'm really sad to have to write this review but if I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. What a terrible business, and I'm talking about the owner himself. We cancelled our lunch order with another establishment that we made for a work event because we wanted to support a local black-owned business instead. We paid Troy's in full for the food, delivery, and tip the week before the event. Anthony Barber himself showed up in his Range Rover to drop off our order nearly an hour late. At that point, after multiple unsuccessful calls and not knowing if they were ever going to deliver our food, we were forced to tell our staff they had to find lunch on their own, so we told him we couldn't accept the order and asked for a working phone number we could call to inquire about a refund. He lied and said he was just a delivery driver and only had an 800 number. We recognized him as the owner, as he is front and center on the Troy's BBQ website. When we called him out on it and said we would be disputing the credit card charge, he replied that he didn't care bc the business was gonna get their money anyway and he would just throw the food away. I'm in shock at this type of customer service. Especially because our organization went out of our way to support his business. I will never order from Troy's or recommend them to any one. He didn't even have the decency to apologize or give us an explanation for the delay, he just didn't care at all. Troy Davis would be disappointed that this is how the business he built is currently run and by his own son no less.
