I found Patricia on Yelp and the reviews are accurate! I liked her right away. She was on time, easy to talk to, wears her heart on her sleeves :) and was attentive to my requests but better! She gave me smokey eyes that was not heavy but with definition to bring my eyes out. She perfectly blended the foundation to match my skin tone looking very natural. She put only natural gloss on my lips which was perfect because this allowed me to put my own lips stick of choice on. All I had to do was add my own little personal touches like a tiny drop of more green to my eyes and mascara to lashes. The makeup lasted all afternoon up to midnight when it was bed time! Patricia has a great personality! Unfortunately that does not come through in her work. I came in for chin/lip wax, brow wax and tint and lash extensions. My specific instructions on brows were that I keep them as thick as possible so do not put in an arch. No pencil thin brows for me! Also tint very dark brown. While the color turned out great, I was shocked to find that she put an arch in my brows! I am devastated by these brows. I have had my brows waxed/tinted many times by many estheticians. (See some of my prior reviews of other people's work.) NEVER have I had to return to have missed hairs plucked. NEVER have I gotten thinly shaped, arched brows as a result. So I must be able to give clear instructions. Why she didn't listen is concerning. This is going to take some time to grow back, as my hair is thin with a few almost bald patches, and doesn't grow quickly. As for the lashes - while still in her studio I thought the right eye lashes were less thick than the left ones. But she kept telling me how perfect they looked on me. It wasn't until after I got home and really looked in my own mirror that I could tell how many less lashes were on the right eye. The lashes on the inner side of that eye were so sparse they looked wispy. In addition she did not fill either eye out to the outside corner. It looked like I had lash strips on that were too short for my eyes! I then noticed that there were still dark hairs on my lip and a few remained in the brow area. She had used a hard wax on me saying people like it better because it doesn't pull the skin. Evidently it also doesn't pull the hair. I sent her an email and went to bed. To Patricia's credit she replied quickly in the morning and got me right back in. I brought my magnifying mirror to be sure I could point out the missed hairs, since my close vision isn't good. She seemed to make excuses, telling me that of course I could see them with the mirror pointing up like that, but people just looking at me couldn't notice them. That's not the point. The point is that I paid her close to $400 (including a 20% tip) and for that ALL the hair should have been removed from the waxed areas. The lash results the second time are fine. But the brow fiasco rates zero stars! read more

When I first moved to Santa Barbara, I was really nervous about finding a new place to get my lashes done. I'm very particular about things like this and, hey, it's my face (it's hard to say that without sounding like a teen-movie villain, but it is what it is). I looked at a lot of different places and spoke to a few people, but I ended up giving Patricia a try. I've been going to the same person for years and so it was nerve-wracking to trust such delicate work to a total stranger. Right away, Patricia put me at ease with her warmth and humor. She also made the whole process incredibly comfortable. She has a very delicate touch and I ended up having the best experience getting my lashes done that I'd ever had. Process aside, the lashes were incredible. I'd been terrified I was going to walk away with huge plastic-y lashes, but they looked so full, beautiful, and natural. They even felt soft and flexible, just like real lashes! Needless to say, I've been going back ever since. While chatting during a recent appointment, I was talking about how it's such a bummer that brow tinting wouldn't really do anything for my brows since they're already so dark (just a little patchy). Patricia explained how that isn't actually the case and that if I ever wanted to try, she'd be happy to show me how it works. Well...WOW. I was such a skeptic about it, even while I smiled and was like "yeah, sure, sounds great!" Now I'm a total convert. My full lashes are now perfectly complimented by my full brows! Bottom line: Patricia is a pro, a rockstar, and hanging out in her lash chair is like a little spa vacation in the middle of the week. I can't recommend her highly enough. read more
