A few years ago, a Tru hotel was my far the most glamorous spot I stayed at but I arrived late at night and had to leave early, so I'm glad I got to spend more time at this one. I didn't have anyone to play the lobby board games with but I enjoyed the chairs and the overall festive vibe. The workers were great, the room was clean and the AC was powerful. Elevators were speedy. The location was great. As for the neighborhood, the immediate block is quiet but the epicenters of Little Italy and Fells Point are nearby. If you don't mind a "tourist 101" moment I previously favored Inner Harbor because of convenience and media-influence perceptions of safety but this is a good idea, partly because the free ferry to Locust Point and Canton is nearby. read more

Low-key, neat, simple, conveniently-located, dog friendly, excellent service, free hot breakfast! Those words sum up our experience at Tru by Hilton Harbor East. I was in town with my family and my pet for my graduation from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. We arrived at the hotel around 10:30am after a red-eyed flight and were tired. Edson , the front desk staff, was so accommodating. He let us check in early, found 2 rooms which were close to one another and gave us rooms on the 8th floor with amazing views of the harbor and downtown area. Thanks to Edson that we were able to take a quick nap before tackling our packed schedule for the day. The hotel is only 4 years old so everything looks new and modern. The reception area and the common room are all together. Everyone can use those commons areas and hot Lavazza (Italian coffee) and teas are available all day long. This creates a nice sense of community. Our rooms were surprisingly neat and clean. Spacious bathroom with all amenities included. Yes, it's not the best but with the price, I'm impressed. They exceeded my expectations. This hotel is conveniently located just 8-9 minutes from Inner Harbor and my school. There is a public parking right across from the hotel. If you park your car there and don't take it out until you leave, the hotel will validate for you for $18/day. But if you want unlimited ins and outs, they'll validate your parking ticket for you for just $25/day, which is very reasonable in my opinion. They serve hot breakfast from 6am-9am daily. Omelettes, freshly-machine-self-made pancakes, sausages, fresh fruits, and yogurts were among the breakfast items that we enjoyed. A low-key but comfortable hotel, almost perfectly located for enjoying the Harbor East and Fells Point area. It's just far enough away to be in a quiet area, but a short walk (5-10 mins) from "everything", with some restaurants within 500 feet. I used it as base for an evening of barhopping. There's 2 major adjacent parking garages with inexpensive overnight/weekend rates. Keep in mind this is a minimalist hotel. The rooms are small and efficient, the bathroom is fine. I wouldn't plan a week's stay here, but it's perfectly comfortable for a couple of days. The TV is controllable from your Hilton app. There's a normal-sized (small) hotel gym, a water bottle fill station, a reception snack shop, and a pretty extensive lobby seating area if you need to spread out to work or entertain your family. Breakfast is included, though I didn't have a chance to check it out. There's coffee & water in the lobby. The road and sidewalks in this area have been recently upgraded/restored (there's a bike lane now!), and there's localized security patrols. It's always good to be street smart, but after many visits, I've never felt unsafe in this section of the city. Quibble: The blinds in my room don't neatly overlap the window, so don't plan to sleep in on a bright day if you're light-sensitive (or bring an eyemask). Hilton's brands have some overlap, but I would slot Tru in between Motto (more upscale, destination locations, on-site restaurant) and Spark (budget, bare-bones, upgrade from motel). We did a 3 day/2 night staycation here and it was the perfect location for us. Inma was very welcoming when we arrived and was sure to add this trip to my Hilton account. The room was very spacious, perfect for our quick stay. My boyfriend hit the free breakfast and raved about the options, so be sure to check that out. Another plus, there is tons to do within the area, especially within walking distance. Looking forward to staying here again in the summer! read more

Stayed here while in town for a weekend, and hotel is in an okay location. Sketchy people loitering around and patrons smoking below no smoking sign, but the rooms were nice. First morning there was not any hot water but the next day there was. Free breakfast options were skimp but better than nothing. While I was getting my bags out of the car to check in I saw two big rats running along the building but nothing one can do about that There are a few parking spots out front and there is also a parking garage directly across the street from the hotel. Depending on where you park, and where your room is, you may be able to keep an eye on your car from your room. Gym had sufficient equipment. read more

This hotel located in the Little Italy area of Baltimore isn't exactly a five star hotel but I'd say I had a 4/5-star stay during a recent business trip. Cleanliness, safety, convenience and staff friendliness are typically what matter most to me in my hotel stays. Also since it was a business trip I didn't need anything super luxurious or fancy. The parking was reasonably priced at about $5 a night from 6pm to 6am during the week and $5 all weekend long and was located directly across from the hotel. I could see the garage from my hotel room window which was nice bc I could scope out what was going on outside a bit before walking to my car. They have a 24 hr front desk of very friendly and helpful staff. Late at night, there was a kinda big guy that sat at the front during the weekend nights I was there so that helped me feel a little safer especially since the front desk is directly in front of the hotel entrance and he did a great job of paying attention to who was walking in and out. I was impressed with the cleanliness. The hotel common areas and my room were spotless. There was plenty of counter space in the bathroom. Note, they only clean the rooms every other day so your bed isn't made everyday if that's something you're used to and you'll have to call for extra towels and such on the off days if you need them. The continental breakfast was standard with oatmeal, cereal yogurt, eggs, bacon or sausage (1 of each protein each day), juices, coffees, teas, pastries,muffins, toast, and bagels. Hours are 6-9 weekdays and I believe 6-10 on weekends. The gym looked clean and seemed to have fairly new equipment. Elevators were clean and came frequently. The 4 star rating over 5 was due to the thin walls. The first few nights it was super quiet bc it seemed no one was in the room next to mine but the last couple nights were a little loud and I could hear the couple next to me's full conversation and every word of the movie they were watching. The hotel was a quick 10 minute drive to the Baltimore Convention Center and in the harbor area so very convenient to most key spots in Baltimore. First Impression: At the intersection of Little Italy and Fells Point you have...nothing. Well I mean with the exception of this Tru and a lot of residential homes around it. Check In: Super easy and the dude the desk was super cool. Slick and knows his job well. Check Out: I don't app and there were four in front of me so no way on this one. Room: I've been avoiding Tru locations in my travels because I'm not big on the Millennial/Gen Z thing of style over substance. As long as it looks good who cares if the actual product is cheap. Think of Tru as the Gen Z Hampton Inn. Although compared to Hampton there is an actual bathroom door versus that sliding barn door junk but this room compared to Hampton has a very small desk and very limited storage space due to the smaller size. For one night, maybe. Multiple people in here for multiple nights? Hell No. Also another nice touch would be to not stock a room designed for four with only two sets of towels. It's only going to make the desk agent work harder later on. Stock the stuff up front and make everyone's life easier. Breakfast: It's a Hampton breakfast just laid out differently and minus the smoothies and waffle maker. A brief note: Only one elevator was working all weekend. Bless the Lord for the stairs. Way too long of a wait any other way. Etc: I guess you would call this "an up and coming neighborhood". Why call it that? Well because it's so new and getting commercialized they don't have all of the sidewalks/streets fully done yet. If you can, park in the lot across the street. I think it's $20/day and while there are other lots within a few blocks it's a PIA right now if you're wheeling luggage near the front entrance. Overall there are plenty of closer hotels to the Inner Harbor and closer Hilton properties. The advantage of this place right now is rate but certainly not location. Not that it's far from most attractions but many places are much closer. Good enough for one night but I would be hesitant to stay longer. read more

This hotel is a great choice in Baltimore. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was always someone at the front desk to help you with anything you needed. Parking is located across the street in a safe parking garage that wasn't really crowded at all. Bonus you get to park your car out of the hot sun! I don't remember the daily price for the garage, but it was reasonable. You can walk to the inner harbor in about 15 mins and your only a few minutes from eating in Little Italy. Amicci's is a great Italian restaurant for families and then you have to stop in to Vaccaro's bakery for a cannoli or any Italian dessert (they are open till 9pm!). We walked a few blocks to the CVS and Whole Foods for grocery items, wine and beer. Dads (or moms) there is a cigar lounge located a half block away and there is a place called Five Iron Golf right next door if you want to check out a golf simulator. We didn't walk to Fells point, but it's about 10-15 mins. (Beer lovers Max's Taphouse is a must visit!) Your also a short drive from the B&O museum, Oriole Park, Fort McHenry, Washington Monument (the one in Baltimore), Babe Ruth Museum, Lexington Market and Edgar Allen Poe's grave. There is a small gym on the first floor of the hotel. The room was clean, looked newer and had a decent view of the inner harbor area. For breakfast you serve yourself, but it was well maintained by the staff. The kids made pancakes and had cereal, the wife some yogurt and we all had some eggs with bacon and/or sausage. If this place had a pool it would be five stars, I'll give it 4.5. It's in a safe area and it was quiet at night. I researched a lot of hotels in the Baltimore area and this was the best I could find at a good price that was safe. read more

This hotel is located in Downtown Baltimore really close to all restaurants and parking right across the street. I have to admit when we arrived I did not know what to expect, but it turned out to be a great experience, from the minute we entered, we were greeted by Stacey, she was awesome made us feel at home and was able to provide all of the information we needed. Great customer service and the hotel very well maintained and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel, also provides a nice breakfast in the morning. I really liked this hotel. The location is good and I like the modern theme. The room was quiet and there are some apps you can use for streaming. A coffee maker would be the only improvement I would make. A mini fridge is a must have and there was one in the room. I would say the room setup is similar to The Moxy brand. It is small but they tried to make the space functional. i like the bath products that are in the room. They do offer breakfast but I usually do not make it to breakfast. I saw the setup as I was leaving though and it looked ok. They let me check-in early with no charge. I would definitely stay here again. They did say at the front desk that they assign rooms in advance so if you have preferences, I would add them to the notes when you make the reservation. They were not able to accommodate my preferences at the desk but it still worked out ok. read more

Would definitely stay here again for my business trip, was here for 2 weeks. Its around a bunch of small restaurants/fast food places that you can walk too. The rooms are small, not to small but good enough for 2-3 people. They offer free Breakfast in the morning, nothing fancy but does the trick. The pancakes are pretty good. They keep the hotel always clean and Fresh! Best customer service I received from a Hotel in awhile, was by the front desk person named Tony, keep up the good work Tony, your customer service is great! Also Miriam was able to help me get checked in as their was some confusion with my reservation but she was able to get it all squared away for me within a matter of minutes! Would of been a 5 star but they don't offer Laundry on site which would of been nice. read more

PROS: - Safe area - Parking directly across street - Hotel discounts parking (only $10 overnight) - Within 5 blocks of the Inner Harbor, about a 10-15 min walk - Very clean - Styling is cute, trendy - Roomy shower - Staff is *incredibly* nice and helpful, way above any other hotel I've stayed at (ever) - Lobby is comfortable and has several places to hang out, including a shuffleboard game - Nightlight in the bathroom - Small ironing board / iron NEUTRAL - Continental breakfast is a B+. No waffle maker; eggs are pretty bad. Does have juice, cereal, and fruit. - Beds are somewhat uncomfortable and on the firm side. CONS: - Light in room is motion-sensored, so every time someone got up at night to use the bathroom, the room floods with light! We asked for paper and tape and has to cover the sensor. Front desk said this is a common complaint. - The heating / AC unit is pretty loud. I enjoy white noise but this was pushing it. It was, however, extremely efficient in cooling down the room quickly when we were hot. Overall a good hotel; I'm particular about cleanliness and it met my standards. I will be returning to Baltimore in a few weeks and will probably stay again. Just have to cover that *%#+ light sensor! read more

I've stayed here three times and loved it. Very no frills hotel, comfortable bed, cold AC and a nice shower, which is all I need when I travel. The rooms are small, would not recommend for long stays, but two or three nights this place gets the job done. Comfortable beds and we enjoyed our night sleep despite of the noisy air conditioning unit. Parking either in front of the hotel for $10 multiple entry, or behind for $4 weekends overnight. The rooms are like an ikea hotel and the walls are extremely thin. I kept hearing people's keys scan to their doors and it sounded as if they were coming into my room. In addition, I could hear someone snoring from my bed. The actual room itself does have a desk and lots of outlets but it's not very comfortable. I went for business and should've paid an extra $20 a night for a better accommodation. Their cleaning policy is that you need to schedule cleaners 24 hours in advance which I didn't need but also isn't very helpful if you're there for 2 nights (which I was). You basically would have to schedule it pre-arrival to have this service. I had to get my key rescanned 2 times because it didn't work which was annoying because one of the times I found this out after I got stuck in the elevator. When I came back down after being stuck in elevator for 10 minutes, no one was at the reception for another 10 minutes (which also was in the middle of the free breakfast so seems like you would have someone around at that time). Then 2 of the desk agents came out at the same time which was even weirder that they wouldn't then coordinate being away. I told the lady about my key and elevator and she didn't even acknowledge the elevator incident which was super rude considering it was a little scary. She just scanned my key back. Then I asked about check out to find out they didn't even have my correct email on file that they were going to send my receipt to. Also, the first time I was locked out the lady didn't even ask me for identification to rescan my key. Second time (after elevator complaint) my ID was required. It's concerning the first time no one checked my ID. Basically I would only stay here if I was planning to not be in the room at all and only coming back after a late night out with limited time in the room. This was the first time I've stayed at a Tru hotel but I will be honestly say that I will be looking for Tru everytime I travel now. The staff at this location were super nice and great to my 1 year old. The soap at Tru is AMAZING! There is something about the smell of the hand soap (Not Soap Radio) that brought back memories that I can't seem to pinpoint. The only downfall was I wished that they had some sort of protein at the breakfast bar. I understand with covid that there are limitations however if they had hard boiled eggs that would of been great. Parking there are 2 options, you can park across the street in the Italy parking garage for $18 for the night, or you can do valet parking for $35. Overall great stay and location. It is a 12 minute walk to the Aquarium and Harbor. read more

Visited July 2022 - Tru in Baltimore This was my first time staying at Tru, which I chose bc it's part of Hilton, and I was not disappointed. I thought the rate was fair, easy breezy check-in, the room was cute, clean and open. I liked that there was no closet, but a pole to hang clothes on, making the room feel more airy. The beds were comfy. When you turn on the tv, there's a greeting to welcome you, a nice touch. They had the standard hot and cold breakfast available, and plenty of it. Easy breezy checkout. There is a parking garage across the street for only $5 nite!!! That's a big PLUS coming from my beloved NYC, where we'll never see this price! Lol The only thing I didnt like, was the construction barriers directly in front of the hotel, but im sure it's only temporary. This location is only 10mins from the Harbor. So why pay an arm and a leg to stay at a place on the Harbor. I will definitely stay at other Tru's when I travel. read more

Hotel was nice, modern. I novation features. Only issue, was major issue. The street in-front of hotel is CLOSED and has been for months. There are even concrete barricades that force you to go to corner and come back to entrance. Garage is across the street also. Anyone with a handicap or other mobility issues will have problems. We got stuck in major rain storm. This inconvenience should be noted prominently on website and should be communicated in advance of checking in. We were confused an drove around for a while trying to figure out how to get in. Then when we finally got to desk, soaking wet, front desk person was rude. read more

I travel to Baltimore every week- I have stayed at every place from the Four Seasons to a Hyatt to a Marriott down town. I was attracted to the hotel because of the price. It's new construction so very clean, streamlined, with all the amenities. Parking is great- cheap five dollars a day on weekends! However, the smartest thing they did was hire the people in this hotel who are OVER THE TOP FRIENDLY. The front desk gal Lou and Lauranda are WOW! This makes all the difference in the world. Stayed here on Valentine's Day weekend from 2/12-2/14. The room was cute, LOVED the shower especially. However it was not much of a pleasant stay due to the fact other guests on our floor were very noisy. I was woken up at 3AM to the person above me screaming and banging/stomping on the floor. Also, the hallways smelled marijuana. Noise travels through the vent because I could hear the person above us (a different guest than the screaming person) phone ring when they were calling someone. I also would've liked it to be more food options at the desk, but other than those things I mentioned it would've been a 10/10 stay. read more

The good, the bad, the ugly. Stayed for 2 nights while visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. The good- clean, friendly staff, above average hotel breakfast. The bad- entrance was behind a chain link fence. Walk across street entailed walking to end of the block and the walking across broken pavement to entrance. Not fun when you are schlepping luggage. Not especially safe at night considering the location. The ugly. Being mildly disabled there was no handicapped entrance. Up stairs carrying things is not easy for me. Whoever sold Hilton on siting this property was not totally truthful. It is on the edge of the ghetto. No go walking to the north and east. Long walk to the inner harbor. View out of 7th floor window included decaying and abandoned public housing a 1/2 block away. The worst was when I was sitting in my car on the first floor of the garage waiting for my wife to check in.. Pretty sure I witnessed a drug deal going down on the side street next to the garage. Bottom line- probably a reasonable place to stay in a couple of years after the abandoned nearby buildings are razed and the area gentrified. Before that be very careful. Not on my list :for a stay anytime soon. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights with my family. We booked 2 queen beds room. I like this hotel and it has everything you need. The hotel is new,clean and the staff are very nice and helpful. We had some issue with the room service but we were accommodated by giving us a free night. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good, they had pancake station, cereals, oatmeal, eggs and sausage, bagels and muffins. Coffee and teas station that is always there throughout the day and night. The parking is an issue. You can't park on the street and the parking garage is super expensive. Wish the hotel provided free parking for ppl who booked over 2 or 3 nights! Or if they even validate for a bit cheaper parking. read more

While this is a nice, newer hotel, they need to be more clear on parking during construction. The front of the hotel is blocked off and it's not clear where/when to park. It's inconvenient parking at this point. You have to use the lot across the street and walk around construction to the front door. It should be on their outgoing message when you call. read more
