We came in here to get my car fixed and they were very good about giving us a free estimate and diagnosis. However it was way out of our price range. We were referred here by Carrillo nearby who said that he could do it for 500 but didn't have the right tools. I, on the other hand, have the right tools. (pulls down pants) Here it would have cost north of 1200. Carrillo already told us that we should be looking to spend 500 on it (and my Buffalo mechanic ended up doing it for 350) so we decided against it. I was really glad that the checkup was free and I feel bad that they didn't get anything for their time but that sort of price is just impossible for me. Still they were honest and I appreciate the free estimate so 4 stars definitely. And honestly the Buffalo people didn't fix it properly so maybe I should have invested that 1200.

I had a blown engine and after asking my mechanic about the cost I decided to go here cause it was cheaper. Damn was I wrong! They quoted me 1200 for a complete rebuilt then after the head was off they said it would cost me 1800 and he'll rebuild the whole engine with brand new parts. After 3 month of it my car broke down. Took it back because it was under warranty. They got the head off and showed me what was wrong. There was a hole in the bottom block. He said the rod or piston(forgot what it was) shot out. I never abuse my car(it was my baby) and the only way that's possible is if you redline the shit out of it. My coworker who was an ex mechanic tag along with me to see the problem. He told me that they didn't rebuild with new parts cause the piston was so plaque with carbon. it's impossible to have so much carbon in 3 months and since I hardly drive it too. They just cleaned the outside so it looks new. I should've known cause when I came to pick up my car there the first time there was no coolant in my radiator and my fan was unplugged. They denied my warranty and said I abused my car. He said he was going to give me a discount if I want to fix it and that I can leave my car there till I get the money. He also bullshit me that a b18 block is rare. Bullshit, it's one of the most popular engine and its always stock at the junkyard. I decided not to have them fix it and he charged me 500 for leaving it there or give it up to him. I basically told him fuck u I'm not giving you anymore money and gave my baby up to him. I went to my car to get my stuff and surprised, he had already thrown away my belongings and had his shit in my car. Yeah, he wanted that car. A few months later dmv sent me a notice for registration and a call from the police about an accident involving my car. I told them I released my liability a year ago and that I gave it to the crooks, paradox. Apparently he had fixed it and sold the car without transferring it to his name before selling it.

I brought the car to Thunderbolt, and they check out the transmission and found it was not the problem. They found the problem was a bad wheel bearing, which was recently. I took the car back to the shop who originally replaced the bearing and had it fixed under warranty. Thunderbolt was very accommodating, and while they could have replaced the wheel bearing, they agreed I should take it back to the shop who originally replaced it. Their honesty and good advice is refreshing. I recommend Thinderbolt, and I expect they will take care of you, as they took great care of me!

Staff was friendly, even offered to extend closing hours to allow for me to pick up my car. The estimated time-frame was spot on, they finished my car when the said they would. They kept me updated with texts as requested. Had a spot chipped without paint but they quickly touched it up with some touch up paint.
