I've had around 3-4 dentists review my teeth in the past and I can say with confidence that Dr. Kang feels the most trustworthy and gives me peace of mind. I initially came in because I thought I had a cavity in my back tooth. Turned out it was a metal filling I forgot I had gotten many years ago. Dr. Kang could've easily lied and profited from filling in a false cavity, but he did not. Also, In addition to the standard inspections from a first-time visit such as x-rays and gum inspection, he thoroughly took pics of my teeth with a DSLR camera and reviewed with me my past fillings and what I needed to look out for. As someone who used to dread their annual dental visits and was anxious about going during a pandemic, I have to really commend Trudental and Dr. Kang. I have now been to Trudental multiple times and have been thoroughly impressed each visit! It really meant a lot to me that Dr. Kang's practice was extremely careful, conscientious, and caring. I had heard of other friends' dentists who had tacked on significant surcharges for COVID cleaning procedures, but Dr. Kang's practice doesn't exploit their patients. They also check your temperature and screen for symptoms immediately upon entry and the facilities are kept scrupulously clean with hand sanitizer everywhere. The atmosphere is very soothing and calm, and the first time I came, I actually had a headache but my cleaning was so calm and relaxing that it actually was gone when I left! I think what really sets Dr. Kang apart is his gentle, unassuming demeanor and the time he takes to explain each x-ray and procedure, even as he works, so you are completely aware of what's going on. The transparency and honesty with which Trudental operates was consistent throughout each of my visits. Dr. Kang also makes sure to answer any questions you may have and you don't feel like he's trying to push any additional procedures or exams like other dentists I have seen. He also taught me the best way to floss and didn't make me feel bad about my flossing habits. I was also impressed with the dental hygienists, who were very careful and made sure I wasn't experiencing any discomfort with the dreaded xray part of the visit. I had been looking for a nice, honest, and skilled dentist for awhile and I'm really thankful I found Trudental through a friend. If you book a Saturday morning appointment, parking can get a little hairy since the plaza has some morning brunch destinations, so come a little earlier just in case. Another time I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of parking. They also have water and a Keurig machine for their patients in the waiting area which I thought was really nice. I was referred by my close friend for my dental care and I'm truly grateful that I've found Dr. Kang!! He is a highly skilled dentist and the most caring dentist I've met! First, the office is very clean. Due to Covid-19, they checked my temperature and symptoms upon arrival. The waiting room was not crowded at all and seats were properly distanced. All the staff wear mask and clinical team wear PPE. I saw them cleaning everything in between their patients and each exam room use. Getting an appointment was easy. The receptionist was very friendly and nice. Initially, they took very detailed Xray (they have really high technology machine!) Then, Dr. Kang reviewed the result with me and explained what treatments I need to get. He genuinely answered all my questions that I asked him. I did not feel like I was pressured to get a treatment. I've been to many dentists in the past where I felt pressured to get a treatment but I absolutely did NOT feel this at all from Dr. Kang. He thoroughly explained what treatment I need vs. I don't need. He confidently made his recommendation and he was very honest about his answers. He puts his patient's interest as his top priority, NOT his profit! I had a cleaning and cavity treatment done and both procedures were painless. During the entire procedure, Dr. Kang ensured I feel most comfortable with no pain or any discomfort. I had to get a numbing injection prior to my cavity treatment which I was most nervous about (I'm very scared of needles). But, Dr. Kang made the injection painless (no joke! I seriously did not feel anything..) I was so impressed with his skill!!! Another thing that I liked about Dr. Kang's practice (which I've never experienced with my previous dentists) was he showed Xray pictures of before & after the treatment so you will see exactly what happened to your teeth. As you can see from attached photos, his work was perfect and flawless! I really enjoyed this portion of my visit as I learn a lot about my oral condition and he taught me what I need to look for in the future. He was also extremely thorough with cleaning as well! He really put his time and effort to his work to ensure his work is perfect which I appreciated the most. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit at TruDental! I have just completed my Invisalign treatment and had to write a positive Yelp review for him because I absolutely love my results! Some of my teeth had to be filed before I started Invisalign to make room for the expected shift in my teeth. My second visit to TruDental for my scheduled cleaning ended up with my first cavity in years! Not surprising, since I struggle with daily flossing but thankfully Dr. Kang was amazing as ever. I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm pretty sensitive to pain and was nervous about the local anesthetics, but somehow it was so hard to believe that I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Kang definitely has great technique since I think I kind of feel asleep during the procedure also. Again, great staff and service! At my previous experiences with other dental offices, the dentist would just tell me "you have a cavity so we need to fill it." Dr. Kang actually takes the time to show you high resolution photos of the issues and goes over why it happens and what we need to do to fix it and how to prevent it. TruDental is amazing. Growing up, I never enjoyed going to the dental office (who did?). I always went in with fear, and always left dreading I would have to come back eventually. My dentist would not explain to me what was wrong with my teeth (language barrier), he didn't listen to my complaints, and the assistants were rough with the x-rays. Bringing it all together were the dull, grey walls and stained carpets. The worst of it, however, was the actual dental work (cleanings, fillings, etc): the assistant could not operate the saliva suction for their life!!! I was gagging and choking and the dentist did not bat an eye. The best thing about turning 26 and getting kicked from my parents' dental insurance was the recommendation for Dr. Kang and TruDental. Opening the front door, I was welcomed to a clean couch, modern decor, potted plants, and, best of all, bright and uplifting blue/white walls. The friendly front desk clerk, the joke-cracking assistant, and the soft-spoken Dr. Kang -- I've never felt so relaxed at a dental office. Pictures of my teeth were taken and X-rays (with a new and shiny high-tech machine!) were painless. Dr. Kang did a thorough job in reviewing the pictures and x-rays with me, sparking a new found interest (and concern) in my oral health (again, I never had such an enlightening/informative experience with my previous dentist). When the day came for my procedure (changing cavity fillings), Dr. Kang and the assistant worked their magic and finished in a timely manner -- no coughing or gagging! I almost fell asleep in the chair; a true testament to their skills. At the end of the visit, they took me to a nice consulting room to discuss payment, and I left happy with the bill. It has been over 2 months since my cavity fillings have been changed and I have had no issues, no pain, and no complaints whatsoever. Overall, I'm looking forward to the next few decades with Dr. Kang and TruDental! I recommend that EVERYONE in the OC area re-consider your current dentist, and join the TruDental fam!!! read more
