Second time here and possibly the last...maybe because it was Mother's Day and it was busier than usual but my experience this time around was nothing like the first. The service was ok this time around. I originally ordered the rancher's hash which over easy eggs instead of sunny side since I'm expecting and want to make sure to eat foods that are well cooked instead of under, but it came with sunny side anyway. The avocado looked like it was going bad and still had the skin on it...I've never seen an avocado served like that in a restaurant before...almost bad and with the skin still on it. I also wasn't aware it would have steak slices as it doesn't specify that in the description of the rancher's hash so I assumed it'd be crumbled ground beef...either way, the bowl itself didn't look as appetizing as it sounded in the description. I opted to switch to the grass fed burger I had my first visit here and it was ok, first time was definitely better than this time around and the air fried fries were ok, most of them underneath the initial picture look and tasted overcooked which was another disappointment. I enjoyed with my lavender matcha, Margherita sourdough pizza (YUM!) and the brussel sprouts for our starters. This visit was certainly disappointing on Mother's Day. I really want to recommend and keep coming back for the fact that it's health consciousness menu but don't want to pay for 'just ok' food either...nor recommend a place that's just ok.

For health-conscious individuals, finding an establishment that offers delicious and nutritious meals can be a rewarding experience. Located at the Riverside Mall in Hackensack, True Food Kitchen is a chef-driven culinary experience. Each of their kitchens has an executive chef at its helm, crafting wholesome, intentionally sourced ingredients into flavorful creations open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The reservation was easily made through OpenTable. Upon entering as first-timers last night, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and stepped into a spacious room over 6,000 sq. feet nicely filled with patrons, a bright and airy room full of greenery with a welcoming vibe. Our table was ready by the window. Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting, with a massive patio with bright yellow umbrellas. Their clearly labelled seasonally rotating menu has a heavy focus on healthy eating, featuring burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and entrees with vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-friendly options. They have a full bar with wine and beer selections, plus specialty craft cocktails. As a starter, we decided on the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Edamame Dumplings to share. For our mail meal, we opted for Grilled Salmon, All-American Burger, Spaghetti Squash Casserole, Chicken Parmesan and a side of Honey Roasted Carrots. We washed them down with Pomegranate Spritzer with Tito Vodka, Stella Artois, Rose Sangria, and Grapefruit Martini. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor, using the best ingredients. One can taste how light and fresh each dish was. The meal felt filling without feeling overly stuffed. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server, Jorge, was extremely professional and offered us some great recommendations. We had an amazing dining experience, and it stands out as one of the rare locales suitable for family gatherings, friend hangouts, or romantic dates.

Today I had a day off from work and ordered delivery from True Food Kitchen. It was my first time ordering here. I ordered a burger with perfectly cooked meat. It came with arugula, a caramelized onion and mushroom topping on a seeded bun; side: This time, I chose mashed potatoes with cheese. Let me tell you about my experience: The meat was juicy and delicious, the bun was soft, fresh and very interesting. The combination of everything in the burger was exquisite. The portion was just right for me. I didn't leave a single bite... I'm a huge fan of mashed potatoes, and these were incredibly tasty. I give this place a 10 out of 10. The service and dishes at TFK have been consistently good at their locations. The same holds true for the Hackensack, NJ location. I love that they offer delicious food with high-quality and clean ingredients! Surprisingly, I went with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with an Open Table reservation and it wasn't crowded at all. We ordered the following: APPETIZERS Guacamole Edemame Dumplings ENTREES 3 x Grilled Sustainable Salmon Grass-Fed Burger with Air-Fryer fries BEVERAGES Iced Green Tea (not shown) Hot Green Tea Everything was delicious, as usual... and Grilled Sustainable Salmon is my favorite dish at TFK. We were able to request less salt on my father's salmon dish without a problem. TFK is very good at accommodating people with dietary restrictions. TIP: When you order the Air-Fryer Fries, make sure to eat them right away while hot. If you wait, they will get soft and will lose its crispness.

THE GOOD ---------------- + Solid food that was better than our 1st experience here years ago. ++++ Edamame Dumplings - This shareable starter came with only 5 pieces. Would have definitely appreciated if it were 6 or 8. They were a bit flimsy and fell apart quite easily, but truffle oil gave it good flavor. ++++ Roasted Brussels Sprouts - Loved the mix of various ingredients in the starter - roasted wild mushrooms, sliced red peppers and the ginger soy glaze on everything. Good portion for a starter. ++++ Spinach and Wild Mushroom Pizza - Lots of spinach, roasted wild mushrooms and a dollop of lemon almond ricotta on each little slice. Portion was of a personal pizza and it was cut into 8 mini slices, but it was a decent pizza. Better than I anticipated it would be. ++++ Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl with Shrimp - Big portion and quite tasty. The quinoa brown rice blend was seasoned and flavorful. A lot of different ingredients mixed in too, like diced up broccoli, bok choy, crunchy snap peas, pickled shiitake and rainbow carrots. ++++ Kids Cheese Pizza - Surprisingly was the same size as the Spinach and Wild Mushroom Pizza! Two toddlers can definitely share this, but if you have a bigger kid then it's perfect for one. It was a very simple pizza with tomato sauce on it, but very easy to consume considering its simplicity. ++++ Kids Teriyaki Bowl - Arrived in a medium size bowl, but was essentially the kid-size version of the Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl. Had the same ingredients and same delicious flavor. ++++ Flourless Chocolate Cake - Delicious! A scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream was placed on top of the cake, but this was the perfect ending to our meal. + Great service by the staff. ++++ Food came out promptly and our water was refilled when needed. Our kid dropped their fork and napkin and an employee IMMEDIATELY came by to replace it! ++++ All of the employees were very friendly. + Fantastic interior space ++++ Huge restaurant with plenty of tables and seats for group and solo diners ++++ Decor is modern and clean ++++ Kitchen is open for all to see and huge! + Bathrooms include a family room + Plenty of parking at the Riverside mall where this restaurant is located. + Allows for online reservations. + Directly connected to the high-end Riverside Mall, so you can take a stroll inside after your meal. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nada. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Despite being fairly busy on a January Friday evening, there were still PLENTY of tables and seats available due to the sheer size of the restaurant.

We had a wonderful dining experience at True Food Kitchen. We started with the guacamole, which was fresh and delicious. For our meals we had the Chinese Chicken Salad and the Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl with chicken--both were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. We ended with the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. Our server, Adriel, was fantastic. He knew the menu really well and gave excellent suggestions that helped make our meal even better. He was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in good hands, with Kristen at the helm of the ship keeping everything running smoothly. Our server Anthony, was attentive, and knowledgeable, immediately putting us at ease especially when it came to our dietary restrictions and allergies. He took the time to listen, explain options, and ensure everything was handled correctly, which made the experience feel both comfortable, personalized and seamless. It was clear that Anthony is well trained and supported, ensuring service to be smooth and consistent throughout our visit. He explemfied what you look for in a dining experience. The food came out perfect with all of our modifications and it is always an inviting and relaxing environment. As someone who runs businesses and leads people, what stands out most is Kristen's consummate professionalism and leadership. She is present, observant, and intentional. While Anthony delivered personalized, thoughtful outstanding service without ever being intrusive. You can feel the trust and confidence she helps instill in the staff, and it translates directly into a positive experience for guests. The coordination between Anthony's attentive, and tailored service with Kristen's steady leadership shows strong operational standards. This is the kind of management and level of service and partnership that should be exemplified across all restaurants. When a server puts patrons first in the way Anthony did shows with the combination of managers and staff working in lock step, elevates the entire restaurant and leaves a lasting, positive impression!

We love the True Food Kitchen in Denver and were highly anticipating this new one right here in NJ! The Denver location features some of the most innovative, fresh tasting creations that we have ever had, and I did not think this could ever be duplicated at a mall location. Not only is it as good here, it's even better! Yes, the food at the Riverside/Hackensack True Food Kitchen was simply astonishing and the atmosphere (dimly lit with candlelit tables and bar) perfect. We started with the scrumptious Tuna Lettuce Cups. Our server, the charismatic Gustavo, recommended his favorite, the Edamame Dumplings which were so amazingly creamy and light they melted in your mouth!! The bar is terrific --- they serve up some yummy craft cocktails prepared with organic alcohol. The skinny margarita (all of 170 calories!) is a tasty summer sensation. This place is great and here's one of the main reasons ---- we had the good fortune to meet and chat with the general manager, Christine, who treats her restaurant like its her own kitchen. True Foods may be owned by a corporation, but with caring Christine in charge, guests will feel like they are in a family-owned operation. By the way, she recommended we finish our superb meal with a slice of avocado key lime pie. Avocado in a pie? We were skeptical, but try it --- it's beyond delicious!! we are so glad TFK has landed in Hackensack NJ! The food is healthy, delicious, creative and we just had dinner there for the second time in a month! When signs went up that True Food Kitchen was finally coming to the north Jersey Area (think it might be a California based chain) I was excited. I had only heard nice things from a friend who had been when out in the west coast. Unfortunately underwhelmed is the best way to describe my overall experience. While the staff was great (well trained, knowledgeable about the menu, and had good suggestions), when I visited there were odd seating protocols in place (don't know if it's a covid thing or just their lunch rules), and I was not impressed by the food either, and their healthy, vegan, vegetarian menu concept is right up my alley! The Vegan Burger should have just been called a veggie/grain burger with vegan cheese (the flaxseed bun was yummy though), the poke bowl left much to be desired (not sure you can really call it a poke bowl...), and their turkey burger (which is what i probably should have gotten) according to my friend just didn't do it for her. read more

It was a dusky Friday night and I was on the hunt for some new wadders at Bass Pro Shop. The GPS had me driving all over kingdom come when my belly started aching. I stumbled upon True Food Kitchen in Hackensack. They sat me with a jolly fella named Zachary. What a D-light he was. The food? Magnificent. The service? This was our first visit to True Food Kitchen, but it certainly won't be our last! This place has it all: convenient location, nice ambiance, plenty big (great for social distancing), pleasant and knowledgeable staff, superb food, and a nice variety of both vegan and vegetarian options along with non vegan/veg choices. We started with the herbed hummus app which was creamy and flavorful with seasoned veggies and pita points. Our mains were the Korean glass noodle bowl with tofu and the Good Earth Kale Cobb Salad with shrimp,(which my husband swore was too big to finish but was so good he ate it all!) We shared the vegan chocolate chip cookies and coconut milk ice cream for dessert, but the portion was too big for us to finish. Our server, Marcelo, was great! My girlfriend and I visited the True Food in Walnut Creek. They ran out of the wine she ordered, and Ali (I believe the manager) came and apologized and recommended a few alternatives. He then remained as our waiter the entire dinner checking in often to make sure all was OK. It was obvious he was concerned with the wine situation and went above and beyond to make us happy. The food here is tasty and fresh, but sometimes can be hit or miss in the way it is prepared. The portion size also leaves you wanting more, so it would not be my go to place on those hungrier days. So far the staff is great sat us right away made a reservation even know we didn't need it the chicken sausage pizza is the best fresh tasted great however the cheese and meat slid right off the pizza not a fan of that cooked well we ordered veggie double burger we took one bite it wasn't good Also if you're not a vegan or vegetarian it was slimy mushy and looked like poop out of a baby's diaper Sorry to say lol. strawberry cheese cake that's vegan and gluten free tastes like play-Doh However that staff we requested already wearing a mask which I love friendly clean place including the bathrooms the sweet potato nuggets are good a little hard but yummy and the prices range from $14-$30 which is perfect prices so they exchanged out burgers for grass fed burgers which we have eaten beyond burgers before so I'm hoping the burger won't be so bad. This was an unexpected treasure. I had the tomato soup, watermelon/avocado tartare, double cheese burger, and key lime cheesecake. I had a sparkling peach tea as beverage. Everything was excellent, the drinks and dessert were not overly sweet. As to the burger, despite the Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger popularity, this place makes its own burgers and the ingredients appear to be a much healthier option. It was absolutely delicious. RUN don't walk to this place! I am not usually a fan of Corporate Restaurants but the food and the staff and service are outstanding. Scott is amazing and makes you feel as if you are an honored guest in host home. I am a hardcore vegan and my hubby is an omnivore and we both had amazing meals. The food is great and the portions generous. The Juniper Rose cocktail was perfection. Beautiful to look at and smooth and delicious. The Charred Cauliflower is a must have for omnis and vegans alike. The vegan double cheeseburger was house made and combined a juicy interior with a crunchy exterior that was addictive. Hubby had the sea bass and loved it. We topped off the meal with the squash pie which was perfectly spiced and creamy but the crust was...well that could have been a dessert all by itself. Again SCOTT thank you for everything you did to make my husbands birthday so memorable. TFK is officially our new regular spot and we will be back regularly. read more

Each meatball was tender, flavorful, well seasoned, and the sauce was sufficient to accompany every forkful of the delicious starter. The entrees were: Caramelized Sea Scallops (broccolini, mascarpone risotto). Next was the Seasonal Brick-Oven Gnocchi (roasted mushrooms, truffle oil, roasted tomatoes, Marsala and provolone sauce, green onions). The final entree was the Mediterranean Wood-Grilled Chicken Salad (arugula, toybox tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onions, chickpeas, quinoa, feta, lemon dijon vinaigrette). For dessert, Seasons 52 graciously offered a free dessert for my birthday. Another nice touch that places Seasons 52 on a pedestal. I chose the Key Lime Pie Mini (graham cracker crust, whipped cream). The mini dessert was deliciously sweet, the graham crust provided an appreciated different texture, and I highly recommend these mini selections.

I was also surrounded by a group of others who were just standing around trying to close out their tabs (a process which involves the bartender giving the card to their manager who takes it back into the kitchen to run the card... which I'm sorry but is completely inefficient and takes too long and just looks shady). I left after my second drink because I could have fermented the vodka myself before getting served a third time. It's a shame because the space is well done and the music was, in my opinion, really good.

As longtime patrons of True Food, our recent dining experiences have left us increasingly disappointed. Having dined here many, many times for several years, we noticed that the restaurant reached its peak about a year ago. Unfortunately, small but significant changes have gradually undermined the unique appeal that once set this place apart. Originally, True Food's commitment to healthy eating was exemplified by their avoidance of potatoes, which they deemed not so healthy. This was particularly beneficial for someone like me with a rare potato allergy. However, recent menu changes suggest a shift towards more mainstream, financially driven decisions. The introduction of potatoes is just one of many alterations that suggest a move away from their health-centric ethos. Today's experience was particularly troubling. I ordered "Not my mother's meat loaf" and specifically requested no potatoes due to my allergy, asking for sweet potatoes instead. Despite my explicit instructions, my meal arrived with a fingerling potato hidden beneath the meatloaf. This oversight not only displayed a lack of attention to customer requests but also posed a severe health risk to me. When I pointed out the issue, my dish was taken back to the kitchen only to be returned with the same meatloaf nervously given to me. I know because I had cut it in half. This clear disregard for cross-contamination protocols and basic food safety was shocking. After waiting over 30 minutes still no meal, with no satisfactory resolution, we decided to cut our losses and left. I ended up getting a California burger at Houston's next door, which was, fortunately, excellent with NO potatoes. It is disheartening to see True Food lose its unique niche and quality of service. The restaurant seems to be prioritizing cost-saving measures over the quality and care that once made it special. Exceptional, from first bite to last! We started with the hummus plate and grilled cauliflower and the flavors were so unexpectedly fresh, rich and complex that it caught us by surprise. Every mouthful was delicious. Scott also brought us some tomato soup to taste and it was equally amazing. Then we had the bison sausage pizza which had a uniquely delicious flavor with a perfectly cooked, light and fluffy crust. We also each had one of their cold drinks and unlike most restaurants, they weren't sickly sweet but instead packed with healthy, natural ingredients that were just wonderful. Of course by this point we had to get dessert, a turtle sundae and cold brew, and once again we were not disappointed. At the end of the meal, we felt so nourished with no heaviness or greasiness that's all too normal with most restaurants. And last but not least, the service was quick, attentive, and super friendly and the ambience was clean, luscious and bright and exactly in line with the quality and style of food. The moment our host greeted us at the door, we instantly felt the personalized attention and sincere hospitality that would set the tone for the rest of our meal. Our waiter, Levan, (so sorry if I am butchering the spelling), was like family. He was friendly, respectful, and an expert at recommending items for our taste and dietary needs. Staff from the back of the house even came to our table to check on our orders; who does that?! Amazing service doesn't describe half of what we experienced. The food was awesome and guilt-free. One of My Favorite Places True Food Kitchen is one of my all-time favorite restaurants; I seek it out wherever I travel, from Long Island to Atlanta to LA. The space is spotless, welcoming, and filled with friendly energy. Disappointed with the Quality and Experience I had a really disappointing experience with my recent order from True Food Kitchen. I ordered the buffalo chicken fingers, but what I received didn't match the description at all. They lacked any buffalo flavor, and the texture was really off -- soggy breadcrumbs, like they had been microwaved, and poorly seasoned. The edamame dumplings (VEG) arrived as one mushy clump instead of individual dumplings, which made them unappetizing. Wow, what an experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was fresh, inviting, and full of good energy. But what truly made the night special was our server, David. He was absolutely amazing--attentive without being overbearing, incredibly kind, and he made sure every detail of our meal was perfect. Service like that is rare, and he deserves so much credit for elevating the evening. The food was just as impressive--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Every dish tasted intentional and nourishing, yet indulgent in all the right ways. You can really tell how much thought and care goes into the menu. My wife and I just moved to the area (Paramus). We were looking for a nice brunch place with actual healthy options and True Food Kitchen was a spot that appeared to be such. The restaurant as really cool and a modern feel, with different seating areas (bar, hightops, regular tables with some booth seating as well.) Adriel was our server, he provided phenomenal service as well as relevant information on the food we were curious about ordering. He was really passionate about providing the best service and was even more accommodating when we told him we just moved to the area. The food was wonderful, I had the All American Burger and my wife got the farmers market scramble and we split a chopped salad. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food being served. I frequent this restaurant located in Hackensack New Jersey . I travel from New York to enjoy the fresh organic food and great service. I love the fact that the size portions are perfect and when you leave here you still feel light and energetic. The food is delicious and cooked healthy hence the name true food kitchen... the food is completely healthy and delicious at the same time, the chef here has that balance mastered! Ask for the server kevin... he is magnificent. My niece has a allergy to peanuts and sesame oil and he made a great effort to make sure the food she ordered was not cooked in peanut oil or sesame oil. He went above and beyond to make us happy by explaining the menu, making sure it was safe for my niece, and giving us recommendations of what he likes. Our server was: Jorge The server was very welcoming and cheerful, provided excellent recommendations and answered all our questions and checked on us with adequate frequency. He kept pur table clear as plates were emptied. Food: The options all sounded very enticing, it was hard to choose. We ordered the roasted butternut squash soup, roasted Brussels sprouts. And Tuscan kale salad for Starters, everything was delicious. The soup was definitely a favorite as well as the Brussels sprouts. But by no means does thay detract from the Kale Salad. I don't write these things often ... BUT...... This place is amazing. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, personable staff and great service. We had the poke bowl, the double vegan cheeseburger (I subbed with Gouda cheese) the bison and margarita pizzas. Everything was delicious. As someone who is mindful of what is being put into my and my family's mouth I was really relieved to find this place. I wish we had something like this closer to home, but I guess I'll be making the trip because I was truly impressed. Now I don't ever really leave reviews at places but, you guys really were amazing. I had a great experience here the other day. The grass-fed burger and fries were some of the best burger fries combo I had in a long LONG time, I also ordered the DELICIOUS dragon fruit which was recommended by Adriel who was so attentive and friendly the entire time. Now for the hostess Chenelle I believe her name was, she was a delight and such an amazing and warm smile once you enter the place, she had greeted us so kindly and led us to our tables. My daughter and I had a great experience at True Food in Hackensack this evening! Our server, Lio, was so warm and friendly, and very helpful regarding her special dietary needs. The food was fresh and tasty- We had the Tuna poke bowl and the chinese chicken salad. They even made a special salad dressing for my daughter who can't have dairy or gluten. We were so relaxed and enjoying the comfy atmosphere that we splurged on the chocolate chip cookie and vegan ice cream dessert. Sweet end to a sweet Labor Day weekend dinner out! Highly recommend! I went to the soft opening today for lunch at the Menlo Park, NJ location. I was absolutely blown away. I am not a vegan but could easily adapt to this lifestyle with the amazing selections. the food was delicious, and you could not ask for better portion sizes. I had the butternut squash soup and flatbread as starter. My entree was the salmon, finished by pumpkin pie. our waitress was Rowena, and we could not have been more pleased with the service we received. A true believer in True Food and its kitchen today's experience probably the best one I've had in the Riverside Shops location of True Food kitchen. This was due in part to the great love put into each dish and more largely due to the service provided by Gustavo. His demeanor, kind nature, attentive service and wonderfully successful (due to good listening) recommendations turned an average lunch with my Mother into a memorable experience and since in life the memorable moments are what counts this one is a 5 star rated one for both of us! I recently visited True Food Kitchen in Hackensack and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is located in a great spot and has a nice atmosphere. I ordered the citrusade drink, edamame guacamole, and teriyaki quinoa bowl, and everything was absolutely delicious. The drink was refreshing and the edamame guacamole was the perfect appetizer. The teriyaki quinoa bowl was the highlight of the meal - it was flavorful and loaded with fresh vegetables. Miguel provide quick and unbelievable high quality service. Was in NJ to visit family and wanted to try out a new food place. My waiter was Adriel and he truly helped make the dining experience pleasurable. Usually I'm used to NJ waiters being a bit standoffish, but Adriel was extremely friendly and respectful. He was very attentive and even helped me decide on what to order through his own recommendation. The food was great. I was pleasantly surprised with my dining experience as well as the inviting atmosphere. I hope to bring my family next time as well!
