I absolutely love this place! It has a great vibe to it, it's decorated nicely and shows what the restaurant is all about. The food choices are on a healthy side, and they are delicious. I've come multiple times now and I keep coming back! Last time we came, I absolutely loved my burger, while my sister enjoyed a vegetarian bowl, which I thought was delicious as well (even though I am a carnivore through and through). We stopped in for an impromptu dinner because we know you are guaranteed to be fed well. We were not disappointed with the taste but definitely see the shrink in portions. One guest ordered a protein bowl with chicken. The bowl arrived with 2 strips of chicken for an up charge of $6.50. Are you kidding me? $25 for a protein bowl. - CRAZY! Another guest ordered the OG mushroom grass fed burger which was well done and tasty. The kale salad side was a hit but the tiny scoop was gone when all 4 of us took a forkful taste. Flavor was yummy but there was more plate than burger and salad. We also ordered the hummus plate and requested the roasted red pepper, pistachio hummus on a separate plate because of a peanut allergy for one of our guests. Our server didn't get the order right and we never received the pistachio hummus. When we reminded him he made some excuse and given we were done with the meal we told him to skip it. While eating our meal, no less than 4 servers, runners, and hosts came by to check on us. I love the customer service but it felt like overkill as we just wanted to eat, converse, and catch up with each other. Funny thing though ... while people we checking on us it took empty water glasses and our request for more to get water and drink refills. The focus just seemed misguided. Lastly, and not within the complete control of the restaurant but a definite testament to poor social skills. A couple was seated next to us and throughout the meal the male chose to watch videos on his phone with the volume on blast. It was quite annoying and disrespectful as the woman with him completely ignored him and his behavior. He was oblivious. We ended up leaning into our table just to be able to hear our conversation. If you are looking for a healthy meal choice but don't want to sacrifice taste or quality - this is the place! The interior is fresh and bright, just like their food. And their butternut squash soup is probably the best I've ever tasted. It's not weighted down with heavy dairy ingredients like most others are and you can really taste the sweetness of the fruit. Their specialty juice drinks are also a great alternative to traditional bar drinks if you are looking to maintain your healthy choices throught the meal. Hi Scott - Thanks for asking. I did find something to order, but the taste was bland and uninteresting. I didn't finish my meal. I went because my wife had heard good things, but I doubt we will be going back. Leaving very bummed (again). Ordered the rainbow trout, we were very excited to try it, but it never came out. Server didn't even try to make it right and just shrugged it off. Not the first time this has happened, last time they also forgot the salmon (not sure what the problem is), but at least that time they made an attempt to make up for their mistake and comped the salmon. Our group was truly so excited to try out a new, health-conscious place, especially given the mostly wonderful reviews. It's unfortunate to report that the negative reviews that other people have made (at least about the food) are absolutely correct. The food was truly so lackluster, it made all of us confirm to never come back (and honestly kind of soured the evening for us once we realized we could have easily gone to another restaurant for the same price but way more satisfaction). We got other foods/drinks, but I can't remember exactly what they were called, but from what I can remember: - Charred Cauliflower: decent, had flavor at least - Loaded Fingerling Potatoes: the best thing we got, and it's potatoes. Literally the best thing we got, so it made us excited for the rest of our food - Margherita Pizza: not even the ranch could save it, tasted like something you could get in the frozen aisle of a grocery store - The Ultimate Pot Roast Beef Dip: good, but again you could get a bucket of frozen Buona roast beef and make this at home - Lasagna Bolognese: my friend seemed to enjoy it in the moment, but when we left the restaurant, he said the food was a joke for that price. - Mac and Cheese (as a side): by far the worst mac and cheese any of us have ever had at a restaurant. It was truly so horrifically bland we were literally stunned into silence, and none of us could figure out what to do to hypothetically fix it. We even tried putting the ranch from the pizza on it, and even then, it would have taken the whole saucer of ranch to make it slightly more bearable. I'm not sure if the restaurant advertising itself as a health-conscious brand means they have to make their food bland and their prices worse, because I know places like Sweet Green (another health-conscious brand) definitely have delicious food AND they have more of a fast-food/Chipotle model, so the prices are more reasonable. I can't think of other health-conscious restaurants off the top of my head, but it was quite sad to end such a previously wonderful day on such severe disappointment. (That being said, our waitress was such a sweetheart and was very attentive to our needs. This place does not disappoint....mostly at least. The items that I have been ordering have been great. They have one of the best burgers that I've ever had. I had the burger before Covid, so not sure they still offer it. The last time I went, I got a watermelon mojito (virgin) and it was delicious. As usual, the appetizers were great. Can't come here without trying the guacamole. We also had the sushi which was also delicious. Then, my ultimate favorite item was the shrimp tacos. Was amaaazing. They also have steak tacos, but for some reason it was not on the menu. My friend said the steak tacos were also great. While True Food Kitchen in Oak Brook is not a vegan spot, they have legit vegan options. You get at least three bowls to choose from, a pizza, a burger, and more. Pictured here is the vegan pizza (dope ricotta), the matcha oat milk horchata (Too good! A must get), the Teriyaki bowl, and Key Lime dessert. I've also had the vegan burger. It's good, but don't go in expecting a Beyond burger, it has a unique flavor that will shock you if you are expecting normal vegan burgers. Overall, great options for vegans. Perfect spot to bring vegan friends or for vegans to bring non-vegans. read more

Only have ordered to go/takeout from here but seems like a very chill and casual place to eat at! I normally order a salad or bowl for lunch. lt is a wonderful option if you're being mindful of ingredients when eating out, need plant based, vegan or vegetarian options and even gluten free. I can see both sides of people not liking and absolutely loving this place. Like I stated, if you are following any of the dietary restrictions I mentioned, then you will be pleased with the selection of dishes offered. The vegan/veg/plant based dishes have the same amount of curation and culinary effort that "regular" diets have. If you are not following those dietary restrictions or preferences you might view this as lacking, "mid", or satisfying enough. Keep in mind this place has a mission to bring whole, true, real food that focuses on ingredient quality and not masking it with overly processed, pre made things. If you don't like it then that's alright! You're just not the target audience. I think they are trying to encourage eating real whole foods which I'm all for and they do a good job being in the middle of reaching audiences who eat this way and those who do not. With that being said, I love getting the steak cobb salad. It has perfectly cooked steak, a rich, jammy soft boiled egg, tomato, avocado, blue cheese, corn and a ranch dressing. Obviously this is a really rich, hearty salad and it's why I say they are an ingredient focused place. Every item in the salad tasted fresh, nothing frozen or prepared. This was really fresh and satisfying. I could argue that the portions are small but it is probably aligned with their mission of having a "healthier" lifestyle. For the $21 I paid for this salad, I wouldn't complain having a little more if it. However, I do love this place for a day to day option and I enjoy coming back. I Will have to try out brunch or sitting down one day as I'm sure it will be good. My small critique is when I pick up through their take out door, you may feel confused or out of place as no one comes to assist you right away so you question whether you're in the right spot. read more

This has been one of my favorite restaurants. I do wish they only allowed service dogs here, though. A couple was sat next to me with their dog as i was eating, and the dog vomited right by my table which made me lose my appetite. This restaurant is beautiful inside with plenty of seating. I loved the atmosphere and the "made from scratch" menu. We ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer. It was good, nice and spicy, but i would have liked the sprouts to be roasted with a little more color to them. My daughter had the gluten free sausage pizza and my mom had the Margherita pizza. They were both very happy with their selection. I had the spaghetti squash casserole and that was delicious, especially with all of the melty cheese on top. My youngest had the buttered noodles. There were bits of sauce from another dish and some quinoa, I'm assuming, mixed in. She wasn't very happy about it, as she has a very sensitive palette. The staff was very attentive, our waitress was great. I would say, however, that if you have a picky child, this probably isn't the best restaurant to bring them. Omg, I ate here for brunch since they have a ton of vegan options. I got an almond milk latte (hope it was actual almond milk) and it tasted so bad. For my meal I got the Korean noodle bowl with tofu. Will say it was not that bad but pretty mid especially for the price which was 20+. I noticed as after I had my meal and coffee I felt pain in my abdominal area. I then noticed liquid stool and felt so dehydrated. I started to feel light headed, dizzy, muscle weakness and issue with my stool. As a nurse I've treated patients with serious food illnesses and it is serious! I got food poisoning from this true food kitchen. Not trying to be a Karen but AVOID this place go somewhere else. I was happy to see vegan options but I rather not feel ill after eating somewhere. They need to up their hygiene in the kitchen because wow and not to forget to mention my friend who had some of my food also is having stomach pain. read more

From the "True" decor to the fresh Ancient Grain Bowls *Plural, yes, I know, I was hunger lol" True Food Kitchen is truly becoming one my my favorite places to get a bite to eat. If you are in the mood from some "clean(Er)" food True Food Kitchen is the place the be. I would highly recommend the Ancient Grain bowl with Salmon or Chicken; you can't go wrong with either. Also, the Grass Feed Burger and Kale salad *not pictured* are exceptional as well. I am certain other dishes are just as tasty; however these have become my staples!
