on absolute DOOKIE MODE! as i was leaving the house, my cat was holding his little chefs hat saying "don't go to true food kitchen, i could literally make a better meal with my tiny paws". the brussel sprouts were burnt to hell and back. the shrimp tacos tasted violently under seasoned with strange textures and rubbery shrimp that tasted like it was cocktail shrimp from frys. ancient grains bowl was an insane amalgamation of flavors with yucky little veggies and crispy ass mushrooms that looked like a grill scraps they tossed into the bowl for fun. only thing that went hard and popped off was the edamame dumplings, which was already pretty soft and flappy but the flavor was there. also the bolognese was not too shabby. overall, pretty fart ass experience and we were robbed of $120. save your money, go somewhere else. maybe let your cat make you a meal. it will be better than this barf activating restaurant. read more

This was the best food I've ever had. Ever. I save my five stars for stellar restaurants only and this one? IS the definition of stellar. I'm vegan and often eat with my boyfriend who is not vegan nor vegetarian. This place allowed us to both eat straight off the menu with no modification which is AWESOME. Our waiter, Adam, was helpful, knowledgeable, and absolutely a valuable resource when it came for my boyfriend to choose between the steak tacos or the lasagna. Here's the thing, I hate corporate style places like this BUT..., this place is consistently good and they cater to Celiacs pretty well despite not being a certified GF kitchen. This place has become out savior when we cannot find an alternate place to eat while in PHX for celiacs. Had the GF Lasagna. Very well done. Bolognese was almost perfect. Well seasoned and the flavors come together nicely. My wife had the Moroccan Chicken. Excellent flavor and portion size, Yogurt sauce I can eat gallons of all day long...but I am Greek so whatever. Didn't quite get his name but our waiter wasn't friendly, he was very quiet and wouldn't come around to our table as a waiter should. True Food at Phoenix Biltmore is a fabulous location. The restaurant is casual and cute. I booked a table through open table for my moms birthday on a Saturday night. I needed to call and adjust the party size and the restaurant was very accommodating. Per their open table notes, I requested a table inside. We ended up in a small private room, I imagine is perfect for business conferences or more "intimate" parties. Our server was fantastic though I don't recall her name - petite, light brown gal with short curly hair and maybe some freckles? Wish I could mention her name so she could get the credit she deserves!! She was attentive despite probably having a full section in addition to the side room. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and knew options for different dietary restrictions. My mom was able to enjoy herself on a Keto diet here. They offer plenty vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free dishes. I highly recommend giving them a try. Even if you think vegan food is weird, you're bound to enjoy the vegan pesto pizza, teriyaki bowl, or another perfectly prepared vegan dish. Delicious flavors, fresh ingredients. First the good stuff. We could get a table on a Saturday night with no wait just by calling ahead a bit. They have a lot of fresh, in-season, and organic food. They cater to people with food allergies, so my gluten-free and dairy-free requests weren't considered at all difficult. Nice variety on the menu. They had 4 desserts, 2 of which I could eat! That alone scores major points with me. The squash pie with coconut cream was a bit heavy on the cinnamon and sweet for my taste, but still delicious. I didn't try the banana-coconut chia pudding, but it sounded good. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Now the not-so-good stuff. It's in a large shopping center, so parking is quite difficult especially on a Saturday night. The music is very loud, which makes all the customers talk loud, so the ambience felt "trendy" but it's annoying to have to almost shout to your friends and family. The drinks are delicious but watered down and over priced. I'd avoid them next time. Food portions on some dishes are quite small. Once upon a time, I ate a buffalo burger at True Food Kitchen, and ever since I stopped eating the meats I've been anticipating another visit. The menu these days looks really good. With various vegetarian options and vegan opt-ins you won't have to read too far through the items before something catches your eye (and taste buds). For the most part, true food is prepared with healthful ingredients that leave a clean aftertaste. Much care and precision go into the dishes and the young staff is trained in presentation and pleasantries. This was a genuinely beautiful autumn afternoon and although there were some cons with the service, I may not have paid full attention so - giving the benefit of the doubt - I won't mark that against the restaurant. It gets a solid 4 stars from me. - wrong order was promptly corrected - questions were asked about our experience - motions were made to please us It was just like fine dining. Yes, dining there was just that fine. Fine, let me tell you what I ordered...a couple of plates from the "Vegetables and Fruit" section and one from "Sandwiches." 1. Torched Avocado: slices of blackened avocado on top of cucumber noodles, mushrooms, snap pea, watermelon radish, black sesame seeds, and drizzle of turmeric ponzu. This is DELICIOUSly savory and I will order it again in a heartbeat. 2. Charred Cauliflower: florets of cauliflower mixed with medjool dates, dill, mint, and pistachio nuts all covered in harissa tahini. This is good, but heavy on the dates. I don't like starting meals with sweetness so if I order this again I'll eat it last - right before dessert. 3. Quinoa Burger: quinoa patties (actual grains of quinoa shaped into patties and used as buns) that sandwiched a smear of hummus, tzatziki, tomato, cucumber, red onion, avocado, and feta. I ordered this sans the dairy stuff. No likely. Not for me. Not this lifetime. 4. Vegan Pizza: small thin crust pizza with skimpy toppings. We added nut "cheese" too and without this, the pizza wouldn't have been worth it. If I could have a do-over, I would order 1 and 2 and request a side of fries to fill me up. Mmmm that sounds good. One friend ordered a burger (can't remember which) and potato hash. She absolutely loved the hash more than anything.....so much so that this past weekend she made some at home haha. Another friend had the fish tacos which she raves about. And another the ancient grain bowl which is her staple and she absolutely loves. Me, I always between about 6 things on the menu! Usually I can narrow that down to 3-4 then I need the help of the server. I regularly order the ancient grain bowl which consists of miso sesame glazed sweet potato, turmeric, charred onion, snow pea, grilled portobello, avocado, hemp seed. Let me tell you, it's hard to deviate from this. But I also wanted to try the banana pancakes made of quinoa, greek yogurt with the maple syrup. So the waitress was like why don't I get you a pancake with 1/2 ancient grain bowl! BOO YAHH! That was perfect! Let me tell you, I never have to eat another Kodiak cake pancake again as long as I have True Food's banana pancake in my life. It was sooooo good! It wasn't too thick. It's actually pretty thin but so filling! I ate it and some of my ancient grain bowl. I had some left over to take with me. And that ancient grain is a mix of flavors that'll make you wanna slap SOMEBODY! I AINT saying yo mama, big somebody (but don't try this at home...I repeat...). Absolutely a healthy favorite that doesn't skimp on flavor, inspiration, and creativity!! The veggie crudités is typically my starter if I dine in or take anyone who has never been. The dipping sauces are yummy and fresh and the one is gluten free. I usually opt for the turkey pita which is absolutely delicious. House made pita and roasted turkey shredded with tomatoes grapes and a yummy yogurt sauce never disappoints. You can either get roasted sweet potatoes or kale salad as a side which I usually get 1/2 and 1/2. My favorite entree here for dinner is the squash casserole. Yummy tender squash covered in a zesty marinade with freshly melted mozzarella is light but satisfying. I love heart veggie dishes that satisfy more than even a steak or a burger. Dessert wise I've tried the olive oil cake which is yummy but tiny!! It's a muffin size with about 7 berries. I could eat 10 of those things. For take out lunch everyone always gets the kale salad. I personally really prefer the Mediterranean chopped salad with quinoa. The dressing is light enough so the yummy pea shoots don't get soggy. The Marcona almonds and feta are the perfect touch. read more

I really like the spaghetti casserole made out of squash. They basically cut the squash with something like a vegetti, and then make the veggi-pasta into a casserole with tomato sauce topped with cheese. Delicious and super simple. I've had it in the restaurant, which was a fantastic experience. The drinks were also great. However, I'm deleting a star, because when I ordered it at work delivered, it was small, cold, and very lonely looking in the big take out container. We pay the same price to get it to go, without making dirty plates, without taking up real estate. I think Take-out should be at least as good as in the restaurant, if not better. Oh well. It's still healthier than 90% of the crappy pre-prepared, processed sysco food at all the other restaurants. read more

The server was really friendly, kept checking in on us and gave me vegan suggestions she liked when I asked. I food came out pretty quickly. The pizza was messy to eat because nothing is really holding the toppings to the crust. So the tomatoes kept sliding off. The almond ricotta comes in mounds so you need to spread it out a bit (unless you like it really concentrated). The pizza dough and olive oil/herb blend they used were fantastic. Great flavor. The restaurant was recommended by a coworker familiar with the area, this was exactly what the doctor ordered after shopping through Scottsdale Quarter. My family used this location to cater my little sisters graduation party and it was a hit! My sister, along with a few other people in my family, have dietary restrictions which keep them from eating a lot of things and at True Foods, they were able to find things that they could not only eat, but also enjoy. We got enough food for around 30 people and they had it ready in a timely manner and it didn't even cost an arm and a leg! Staff was very friendly and helpful, even rectifying a small mistake for our order immediately, that's what I call great customer service. We were seated outside as requested in no more than 5 minutes at a 4-top, which is always a pleasant surprise. I started off with a Moscow mule. The waiter came back out and said they did not have ginger beer and said he could recreate it with fresh ginger and such. It was even better than expected. We split 3 entrees: spaghetti squash casserole, mushroom flatbread and shaved turkey. Everything was excellent. They even split the entrees up for us.
