I did not try grits at True grits so no comment on that haha. However, I tried their home fries. OMG good and give me the whole tub of this. I can eat this all day long!!! I can reheat the leftovers in the oven and tastes even better!!! Their BLT is amazing to eat!!! We had takeout from there and the food they pack to travel really well so if you are planning on being on the road to get to somewhere from Gainesville, it would be such a great idea to get something to go from here:)) Have the biscuit with gravy or sausage with biscuit and your kids will sleep in the car and will never ask when you are going there yet a million times!!! You do taste pepper very gently in the gravy but not too spicy at all. When we look around, the inflation is everywhere and a thing of fancy coffee with flavoring costs just about $10. Their BLT with less than a $10 price tag is one of the best things you could eat on this earth for that price. I mean it feels like they put the entire package of bacon into one BLT!!!!! Might as well eat there if you want anything that has bacon in it!!! First of all, there is something different about the bread. Is it potato bread or what not and it is not greasy at all. Just crisp and toasted well and layers of iceberg lettuce so crunchy and refreshing, and multiple layers with bacon stacks!! It is not one of those places with a few strips of bacon in a single layer, this thing is really stacked up!!! It is very filling without an overwhelming amount of grease and fat. My fingers were still clean and dry eating this BLT sandwich but my belly was full and trust me that I could eat like a truck driver who has been on the road for 12 hours. Better deal, quality and tasting food here than at Chick Filet for the price to beat that!!! Think about that!!! Sausage and biscuit: better than any of the main breakfast restaurants!!! Their biscuits and gravy: no words necessary. Any attempt to describe it would be a superfluous use of words! Just go try it! You will see!!! I love me some good old southern cooking. I almost never drink sweet tea even though I do love sweet tea since it is a slippery slope if I add sweet tea to my routine. This is the one of a very few places that I would order that sweetened ice tea up. It has a really nice tea taste with just the right amount of sugar. It is not overwhelmingly sweet that spikes up your blood sugar putting you on keto coma and sending your pancreas and kidneys on downwards spiral. Just enough to appreciate the tea. It seems to be the very thing about this restaurant. The cleanness...Everything feels and tastes clean like walking into a nice starched up linen store. Bacon strips cooked to perfection and drained the fat off properly. Let the ingredients, the way the food is prepared shine instead of masking it with fat and sugar. I am very satisfied with the food here and cannot wait to try again!!!

I can't tell you the exact year when I finally decided to actually TRY the Burger Barn. I honestly…read moreput it off for years, thinking to myself... yeah, sure they're good. It's the only burger place around here! Years have passed, and competition has moved into town... and yet? I'd rather go here for my hamburger crave than anywhere else around. Why? They've never compromised on how they make, wrap or deliver their delicious burgers to you out the window. They are just as delicious today as they were 20-odd years ago when I first tried them and got hooked! How does someplace maintain this? Good management and ownership. Not compromising on quality, ingredients or changing how it has always been done and done right. The same burger I bought from there over 20 years ago is the same delicious burger I buy today. Sure, the prices have gone up, but they have to in order to pay upkeep of your premises, taxes, your staff and the suppliers of everything you have to have in order to run your business. I still remember someone complaining about how much it was for a burger there when they first raised their prices to at least be somewhat competitive with the "Arches" down the street. Look. You can go down there and buy something that someone flipped around, pre-processed somewhat filled with questionable meat or soy protein, loaded with msg and salt, who knows where it all was already made and pre-cooked before it even got there... I've seen the process from start to finish at our Burger Barn. They cook your burger fresh once you order it. If it were made already, it'd be ready for pickup at the window when you pull up to order... sounds like someplace you know? I've got the patience for something fresh, something consistently good and priced a lot cheaper than down the street, considering you're getting so much better quality! So you do you and go wherever you like... me? I'll stick with the best burger in town that's oh so good from the first bite to the very last bit. I thought about that, looking at the bite I had at the end with still plenty of creamy cheese, tons of meat and a few delicious pieces of pickles, onions, lettuce and even a sliver of tomato worked into it! Good to the absolute last bite. It's amazing to me that no one realizes how lucky we are that we have a family owned and mostly run business right here serving quality to our community for how many years now? Anyone know? I'll have to ask them. The window servers may change but the food is always the same goodness it always is. Thank you guys for maintaining your place in our town!!

Let me start out with the fact that I am 53 years old and I was raised in New Jersey. The reason I…read moresay that is because I am one of those people, like it or not that doesn't believe you should tip someone for handing something over-the-counter to you. If I drive to pick up my own food, or I walk into a fast food restaurant and order something at the counter, I do not believe a tip is deserved, however, when I went to this place, something told me that I should tip, so I did, and I was 100% right. I ordered a small, yes I said small, chicken, tenders, a large fry and a large Pepsi. It came out to be around $14.00. $13 and some change and I added a dollar tip. The girl at the window who greeted me was super sweet. The reason I emphasized "Small is coming". Their version of a small chicken tenders was seven gigantic chicken tenders. Their version of a large fries was huge literally huge! One of the biggest bags of fries I have seen. The only other place that I know of that hands out this many fries is Five Guys Burgers. I asked for sweet barbecue sauce and a Pepsi. When I got to the window the first thing the girl did was hand me the soda with a straw, an actual plastic straw, not that paper garbage. I don't know if you know but where I live that's pretty freaking impossible to get. I paid for the food. I drove about two blocks down the street and the smell was just screaming eat me now. So I pulled over and I took my first bite of the chicken tender without any sauce on it and it was amazing. Then I opened up the sweet barbecue sauce and dipped the tender inside, took it out, put it in my mouth and again, Oh My God! With or without sauce these tenders are delicious. I have to say I am not a connoisseur or expert, but their fries are also amazing! They were delicious, a tad greasy, but hell you know what, I don't care! The taste voids the greasiness. If you are looking for some good fast food, chicken tenders or chicken and you like french fries as much as I do you have got to go to this place!! I live in Gainesville and know this, I will drive all the way back out there just to get some more. If that doesn't speak volumes to you, I don't know what will!

Tried fritters for the first time, that's a southern thing lol. This place was really busy. going inside was better than the ridiculously crowded drive-thru. Only thing is someone needs to be on table cleaning duty. I wanted to sit down and enjoy my chicken gizzerds since they are better fresh, but many of the tables had chicken crumbs and weren't wiped down even tho there was nobody eating inside... Staff was nice. Prices weren't bad, similar to a national chicken chain. Fryer's will definitely satisfy that craving for nice tasty juicy fried chicken!

We walked in and asked to sit outside. I feel like this really upset the hostess because I heard a sigh and saw an eye roll. She said the table had to be cleaned. That's fine, we were happy to wait for what we anticipated would be a delicious meal. We waited 30 minutes for someone to wipe the table. Finally, another customer told the hostess that there were two clean tables and they were seated. We were then seated and were thankful the other couple noticed the availability. It's beautiful on the river! The bartender was also the server and she seemed frazzled and abrupt. We ordered quickly and the food didn't take too long to arrive, but it wasn't terribly hot. We had to ask for hot sauce twice. She forgot one of our sides and when we told her she loudly told a coworker that she had to go inside for grits. She seemed frustrated. The iced tea tasted like some kind of slightly flavored water. There was nothing extraordinary about the food. I've never seen grease under fried clams, but the grease was pooling under the entree. The greens tasted like they were from a can with no seasoning at all; hence the need for the hot sauce! The okra and tomatoes were also very bland, not unlike hospital food. We did like the coleslaw and the hush puppies. We told our friends that Corky Bell's was as awesome as they described (Lord forgive the lie), but we won't be back.
