The vision in my right eye began diminishing nearly two years ago. At first it felt like I was seeing the world through plastic wrap smeared with bacon grease; over time it worsened into what seemed like wrinkled paper. I was scared I might lose sight in that eye. I had to depend solely on my left eye and felt unsafe driving at night because headlights became blinding spotlights. At Jenkins Eye Clinic I learned I had cataracts in both eyes. The staff were pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating, and compassionate. I was a little devastated at first -- I thought I was too young -- but Dr. Nikpoor put me at ease. She explained what to expect before and after the procedure, answered all my questions about vision outcomes, pain, downtime, and cost, and helped me schedule bilateral cataract surgery for early April. My procedure was scheduled for 8:00 a.m., and I was out by 9:30 a.m. Tears of joy escaped my eyes when I realized I could see through my right eye again. The vision felt different -- somehow better. Colors, especially blue, are deeper and more vivid; whites are more brilliant. I can now safely drive at night without fear. I am grateful to Dr. Nikpoor, the staff at Jenkins Eye Clinic, and the team at The Surgical Suites.

We learn, play sports, watch movies, read, enjoy sunsets and fireworks, etc. through our eyes. What would we do without them? I first visited Jenkins Eye Care in 2000 and had LASIK surgery. The best result was getting rid of contact lenses! That one inconvenience was gone from my daily routine! What a relief! Recently, my optometrist noticed that I had the beginnings of cataracts. So many people advised me to get the surgery as soon as possible, so... Okay... I went for the exam/consultation and now am waiting to schedule the surgery. It's such a popular procedure that the office is backed up for months! I'm looking forward to interacting with the professional, patient, and pleasant staff again! I think I met six different people who helped me navigate the system! They were all kind and thorough! I highly recommend Jenkins Eye Care. They're very experienced and have an excellent reputation!

Things were bad. I am so, so lucky that Dr. Schmidt was able to see me fast and within two weeks i had my first cataract surgery on my right eye. He was very honest during my consultation and pre-op appointments. He told me all the possible complications and hazards due to the severeness of how bad my cataract(s) were. But he was also very positive and very energetic. Although i was kinda scared and worried, he and his staff were all very positive and supportive during the whole process. To make a long story short--i went from barely being able to see a waving hand in front of me--to pretty much having my full vision back within a few days after surgeries on both eyes. Ester who is the office administrator then called me back after a few days and asked if I could make an earlier visit due to another cancellation. I arrived this afternoon at their Hawaii Kai Corporate Center. There is ample parking and a nice short stroll through the beautifully landscaped grounds to their office. I was asked to fill out some forms then was called into the exam rooms by Sung who is one of the medical assistants there. She was very friendly and pleasant. She explained all of the tests and procedures she was performing on me for the eye exams. Dr. Chang is very professional, explained everything about my exam to me in detail and asked if I had any questions. The office is spacious with a friendly staff of assistants. I had a very good visit to Eye Doctors Hawaii and will highly recommend Dr. Chang and his staff for anyone needing eye health services.

The day I went in, the office looked really cluttered and unorganized. I saw muliple personal items of the staffs just left around in the office... When I was doing the eye exam, I could not see well on one eye, was wondering why....then after a while I figured their machine lense was dirty, and I had to tell the Dr. it was the lense. I have never had that happen to me at an eye doctor before. The price I got over the phone was 4100 dollars for military dependent. My friend who was also a military dependent at the time paid 3800 for both eyes. I negotiated with the Dr. and he said he could do it for 3900. A month later, I got a bill for thier FREE consultation priced over $240. I was stunned because on the website it said free and even the day of the consultation, I made sure with the receptionist as well. (Matter fact I have never seen any eye doctor who does not do free consultation for lasik). I called the office to have the matter corrected numerous times and the lady who is in charge of billing never picks up her phone so I left voice messages every time, yet NEVER calls me back. I went on their website again and they clearly say free consultation. On top of that, now I found the price list for lasik and they quoated me higher price than what it is listed on their websited even after the negotiation. This business is a scam. I would never ever get anything done here if I were you. I totally believe the one star review someone else left about this Dr. office.

In particular, Jon Portis Ophthalmologist is a popular, trusted and well-respected doctor. Fortunately, my piano student's mother is a doctor who referred me to Dr.Portis, so my husband Jeff is also likely to undergo cataract surgery with him. Today was our first visit, he did a lot of tests, and everything went smoothly with the guidance of the staff. Also, the doctor carefully listened to my husband's story and set up a treatment plan. I think it is very important for patients facing surgery to understand their condition, treatment options, risks and benefits. Dr. Portis did a good job of explaining these things. . Well, this doctor, apparently he is a professional photographer and many of his works are displayed in the waiting room. When I look at these wonderful works, I forget that it's a hospital! It was my first visit with a little nervousness, but I was able to spend time at a good pace and comfortably, so I felt like leaving the anxiety of the surgery to him with peace of mind. When my husband became his patient, I also decided to have him check my eyes every year as my ophthalmologist, and I made an appointment. He very carefully went over the risks (minimal) and discussed the best surgery for me (I opted for the Odyssey-no glasses needed in the future). His advice and reassurance led me to the best choice. He is incredibly skillful. Our eyes are the most precious things we have-Dr. Portis is the best doctor to entrust them to. He was recommended to me as the best eye surgeon in Hawaii-something that I can now confirm.

Third, the eye check was just quick and mechanical by Dr Young. I found a better Opthalmologist in Hawaii Kai and was able to get an appointment within the following week and FREE PARKING as well as no long wait time. I immediately canceled all my 3 children's future appointments at this place. Our time are valuable.

The clinic is located on the 10th floor of First Insurance Billing, at the corner of Ward and Beretania. With the holiday season in full swing, the clinic was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Other than that, the entire clinic was very clean, and I felt completely comfortable and at ease during my exam. When I choose a clinic, cleanliness and the smooth flow of the staff are key factors for me, and Aloha Laser Vision excelled in both areas. The eye doctor who attended me was a young and friendly woman, efficient in her work and very thorough in explaining everything I needed to know. I was happy to receive great feedback and it made me think again about the importance of maintaining healthy habits and eye care to keep my eyes in good condition. While some eye doctors attribute vision problems to aging or genetics, I prefer doctors who motivate and encourage their patients. I want to take care of my eyes properly so that next year, I can get great results at my eye exam again. The ability to instantly check the clinic summary online is also a very useful tool for patients. Taking a leisurely stroll around Maunakea Marketplace (because I had free street parking on a Sunday) my friend and I paused in front of Instyle Hair & Nails because the place didn't look busy and I had some time. There were a couple of staff sitting outside, taking a break, so, I approached slowly and said, "Pedicure?" I was cheerfully greeted and shown to a massage chair. The nice gal, Deb, placed a new plastic liner in the basin and started the warm water. She asked if it was too hot and adjusted the temperature. She started to help me (telling me the difference in price between regular polish for $30 and gel polish which lasts longer for $45), but another customer asked for her, so she switched me off to someone else. It's okay because the new gal (didn't get her name) was very careful and thorough. She took her time and did a good job! I sat for a couple of hours because I haven't paid attention to my feet for months. Haha! (I'm kind of a last minute, busy person and will get moving if I can't stand it anymore.) Anyway, here are my observations: Greeting regular customers is a good sign! The four female workers were cheerful and kind to everyone, especially kupuna! The hair stylist asked (in a nice tone of voice) how a certain customer wanted her hair cut and told her that next time - don't cut your hair yourself because you can't see behind your head (she cut her hair to her scalp!). The hairstylist explained politely to the customer about her unique needs and showed her options on how to style her own hair! That's good service! Another example: A little girl came in with her mom. The staff treated them really well. The mom asked for gel polish for the daughter and the staff said they cannot do it because it might burn her daughter's young skin - plus, her fingers and nails are still growing, so, it's not a good idea to put strong chemicals on the area. Wow! That's being responsible and honest! I think I spent over two hours here because the technician paid attention to my dry cuticles, cracked nail, and other issues. She verified the color of gel polish two times before application. Thank you! I was just going to give four stars, but after hours of hard work, the worker still gave me a mini leg/foot massage and brief hot towel to wipe off excess lotion on my legs! She didn't use pumice stone on me (maybe I didn't need it), but she did repeat the acetone/cotton/foil treatment to the stubborn nails several times - instead of using the electric file technique. I appreciate the gentle approach and will most likely return on a future Sunday!

I've been here a few times before but was so glad to come here recently. It has been so hot my daughter and I wanted to chop off some hair. They did a great job on my daughter's hair first, cutting off all her dead ends and "thinning" out her hair since she has so much of it. They then did the same for me, mine was much shorter though. Since we both have very wavy hair, they took the time to straighten our hair to make sure it was even which took a lot of time for them. I only paid $70 for both of us, considering how much attention they paid to us I do think that is a very fair price. Will be back in a year when I get tired of my hair again lol!

I have been seeing Dr. T since 2004 in my early thirties. I will be turning 45 this summer and happy to say that through the years she has helped maintain "me". My goal was never to look different, but to just keep looking fresh, youthful and rejuvenated. I started with botox to prevent lines from sinking in and becoming permanent. When I hit my 40's I started to lose volume in my face so we started using fillers. I also noticed a change in the texture of my skin, especially the eye area. I did the Madonna lift with amazing results and post laser, I have not had to use filler under the eye and it has been over 3 years! Dr. T is very gentle and I did not have any discomfort or pain with any of the treatments I have had. She has an amazing eye for symmetry and is one of the most skillful injectors in Hawaii as far as I am concerned since she is a practicing eye surgeon. For 5 years I have been very disappointed with my Botox results in Honolulu. It's been very disheartening because I used to experience beautiful results in my home state on the mainland. Finally, I am so happy with how I look! Dr. Tantisira listened to my concerns with other providers as well as the cautions I felt about trying some new strategies. She recommended Dysport for me instead of Botox and also to treat a larger area than before. I was left with bags under my eyes where filler placement was put in the wrong area. On my brow it looks like scud horns growing where the filler was injected in one place instead of thread placement. Now with the threading lift stitches are sticking out of my skull and I'm left with heavy migraines. I would not recommend this lady and if I saw her face as botched as it is before treatment I would of ran out of there. Mask hides her face that looks horrid. Not to mention the treatment was mixed wrong where it had no effect and I had to do it twice. Think twice before letting this lady touch your face. When asked for refund on botched treatment she wants me to fly back to Oahu so she can massage my face to smooth out the lumps she created. read more
