I consider myself *almost* a pizza connoisseur. At the very least, I know when a slice is good and when a slice belongs in the Witness Protection Program. I have tasted one dollar pizza that can beat slices costing five or six dollars, so price alone does not impress me. Now, onto Trufa Pizzeria. Their slices are three dollars and seventy five cents, and I used to think that was a lot. I was wrong. That price is actually exactly where a **very good** slice should be, and this place delivers. The regular slice gets a five from me. The pepperoni slice gets a five. The sausage slice gets a five. No hesitation. They offer a variety of slices and the quality across the board is consistently strong. One thing I love is the amount of clientele going in and out. Because they are so busy, the pizza never sits around. Nothing is stale or sad looking. They have to keep making fresh pies, and when you catch a fresh batch, it hits beautifully. The staff is friendly every time. The shop is clean. The energy inside is warm and festive. It is small but surprisingly spacious enough that you can sit down comfortably and enjoy your food. I have not tried their pasta or larger dishes yet, but for the pizza alone, they get a **solid five** from me. There are other pizza spots in the neighborhood, but Trufa is easily one of the best. As I've mentioned in other reviews, businesses/restaurants in the Morningside Heights tend to be unremarkable because of the frequent turnover of clientele/students at the university, which landlords of these establishments then exploit and get passed on to their tenants, restaurants. But enough ranting, Trufa is a decent pizza place in the area. Not much better or worse than Coronet's on the other end of campus. The few times I've gone to Trufa, I've gotten the Sicilian slice, the meat lover's slice and the mushroom slice. They were all decent. Nothing to rave about. The place definitely wouldn't make any must try pizza place lists like a Mama's Too somewhat nearby. Overall, there is not much seating but it's typical of a slice joint. I was actually heading back downtown after a Yankee game in the BX and just stopped her on a whim and appetite with zero expectations. Stopped in to test the waters and was happy to say the pizza did not dissapoint. Good quality sauce and crust with expected cheese portions for a good slice. Wound up eating three in total after I enjoyed the first and fulfilled a craving I was carrying all the way back from the BX. Not sure when I'll be back in that area again but if ever, I will most certainly grab a slice here. read more

A friend suggested this place; worst mistake of my life! Crust - chewy, sauce - nonexistent, cheese - no sodium. Donald Trump must have put a tariff on salt cause this place can't seem to get their hands on it. I've seen more sauce on my 5 year old's face after meatball night! read more

Itailian-Mex pizza spot that's really good. I asked for one Margherita and one vodka slice somehow I ended up with two margheritas. Even though I wanted to try their vodka slice my two Margherita slices were delicious. Highly recommend for a quick bite. You won't regret it. read more

I really wanted to like this more because it's close to where we live, but it's not great. The barbecue chicken was probably the best, but even then none of the slices were fresh, the sauce was reminiscent of cafeteria pizza, and the cheese was rubbery. The garlic knots were a disappointment as well since they were oddly not salty or cheesy and the ONLY thing you could taste was garlic. They've got a pasta deal on Friday's and I'm willing to give it a shot, but idk that I'd ever get the pizza again. read more

Great NY Pizza in the Neighborhood! Walked by this place recently and was really happy to see someone had taken over the older pizza spot that had closed. They did a really nice remodel, and everything looks bright and clean. We were craving pizza on Christmas Day, and fortunately this place was open. They were very friendly and accommodating--let us order a half and half pie over the phone, and offered delivery even though they were short staffed. Pizza was excellent--great thin-medium crust with a lot of toppings, and true NY style. It's not one of those "gourmet" pizzerias with toppings like brescola, blue cheese, and dates, but they have a great selection of fresh toppings, and it definitely hit the spot. I will be returning and would recommend to anyone looking for great NY pizza in the area. Also can't wait to try some of their other offerings. In all honesty I miss the Toms pizza and restaurant owners because not to say this new one isn't authentic but now it just feels like someone with money bought it out and just gave the community trash. Pepperoni pizza is alright if u like 5 slices of Roni on the slice. Same wit the beefy patty with cheese and pepperoni. So much cheese with the beef patty wasn't even sure if there was any. And finally after someone mopped the floor or whatever, my grandmother slipped due to not knowing the flow was wet because there was no sign. And even made her pay for the slices. I FOUND GLASS IN MY FOOD!!! I have NEVER visited this pizzeria before as it was suggested by my dear friend of mine who lives in the area. As a first timer, I was COMPLETELY TURNED OFF! And EXTREMELY UPSET. I ordered a slice with black olives and waited a good 10minutes to receive the pizza for myself and another slice for my friend. They did not accept Apple Pay unless you spent $10 or more. I would have NEVER expected this from a restaurant that seemed cleaned and was graded an "A" by the department of health. The guys that were present tonight barely had a reaction when I brought it back for a full refund and barely gave a sincere apology. I would HIGHLY suggest to NEVER eat from this pizzeria! The XL Trufa Supreme was ENORMOUS! My husband and I wanted to have leftovers for dinner tomorrow night, but this might be two more night's worth of pizza. Finally a great pizza place in the neighborhood. This is an upgrade from the former pizza shop. The place is clean and the pizza is thin, crispy and oh so good. The wonder staff are the owners who combined have 20 years experience working in Italian restaurants. Friendly atmosphere and large menu where you can order a slice to Fra Diabolo seafood linguini to red velvet cake. Everything made fresh. My go to place from now on. read more
