How I knew this was they gave a pizza box to someone, that someone returned the pizza box saying "I didn't get a jumbo pepperoni", and they proceeded to give me the already-served slice. I don't know what food standards practices are in NYC but that's disgusting, knowing your food was served to someone else before it being served to you. Absolutely not. Especially during busy times, the space is extremely crowded with limited seating. It was quite messy in there as well, since no one was bussing the tables: napkins everywhere, food stains everywhere. I ordered the jumbo pepperoni and it was good, just VERY greasy. Nostalgia tour - been 11 years since my last slice. This was my first food spot I hit after we arrived. Went with my son and we had a great time. At least 3 languages were spoken after midnight, and the fresh huge slice was amazing! Same as it ever was. Ok it has been a few years since I've eaten at Koronet. But I've eaten lots of Koronet slices over the years. Ate there a bunch late night as a undergrad from 2003 to 2007 and then as a grad student from 2012 to 2014. Was definitely there for my 10 year reunion in 2017 and the last time I taught a class at Teacher's College I bought a whole pie to celebrate the occassion. It came in two boxes. Jumbo pizza slices are about $8 and can easily fill you with one slice (they're comically enormous), while regular slices are around $5 and can fill you with 1-2 slices. Don't overorder! It literally comes in a pizza box if you get it to go; I really wonder how the heck you take out a whole jumbo pizza. You could definitely have a single jumbo slice as a meal. The normal slices are also pretty sizable if you just want some sustenance without the jumbo hype. There are nitpicks I have about the pizza itself - I wish it had more sauce, and the crust is a little too hard and breaks when you fold it - but as a fan of NY pizza I'm still happy with it overall. The garlic knots are also tasty and come with a little cup of marinara sauce. There are a few counters and outdoor seats for eating, and they do accept card. The taste reminded me a bit of the birthday party pizza I had as a child, which is not a bad thing, just brings back nostalgia. I also tried their Grandma slice. It is HUGE! It also has excellent flavor in the sauce and the crust is cooked really well. For you pizza novices you might need cutlery to eat this. Everybody else, be prepared with some napkins.
