One of the best meals I have had! I came with Chinese friends and enjoyed a wide variety of authentic Sichuan entrees! Everything we tried was amazing! Just enough heat and tons of flavor. The Stir-fried shredded potatoes and the Baby Eggplant are a new favorites. The Sliced Ox Tongue and Tripe, as well as the Shredded Pork with Garlic appetizers could both be meals on their own. I really like this place. I could eat their Sichuan lamb w onions every meal for a week straight. The Dan Dan noodles do not strike me as the most traditional interpretation of the dish - theirs has a sesame undertone - but is delicious nonetheless. Kinda like a splice between the hot chili oil Dan Dans I've had elsewhere and the standard sesame noodle you'd get at other restaurants. Their hot and sour soup benefits from being both spicy and sour. How novel. Ordered takeout and received a phone call when my order was ready. That was a first and was greatly appreciated. After years of waiting and countless prayers to buddha, authentic Chinese food has finally come to Ridgewood.. But it comes with a very steep price, literally. We ordered the large dry hotpot which cost us $30. Flavor is truly Sichuan but could be improved further if: (1) saltiness is lessened 75% (2) 60% more meat is added. It was if we were served a vegetarian's hotpot, (3) and no American meatloaf is added as an ingredient But the overall ambiance and service were great. The servers were very attentive. We randomly stumbled upon this place today and my husband (a chef) and I love Szechuan food. The food was great and authentic! The hot and sour soup was amazing just the perfect amount of spicy. The Dan dan noodles were spicy and delicious. The steamed dumplings with the chili sauce were some of the best I've ever had! And the Mapo dofu (tofu dish) had a nice heat that wasn't overwhelming and the airomatics from the leeks and the Szechuan pepper corns lead to a very successful dish! My husband and I lived in downtown Brooklyn years ago and would eat in Chinatown at least twice a month. We have spent years searching for a restaurant in New Jersey that was on par with our favorite Chinatown eatery. We found it tonight. I don't think I need to list our dishes. Each time I've dined there I have had delicious, authentic Sichuan cuisine that has left my mouth watering with service that made me feel at home. Be sure to try classic favorites like Ma Po tofu, crispy Sichuan fish fillet, and Chinese eggplant, or ask for off-menu specials-- you'll be very glad you did (see the gorgeous whole sea bass from the secret menu below). Wash it all down with Chrysanthemum tea straight from China for a complete experience. I have always wanted to try this place. I heard really great things online and in person about its authentic cuisine. I was a huge Wild Ginger fan. This place blew my expectations! Literally just ordered takeout two nights in a row it was that good. Love soup dumplings and it's something that usually doesn't travel well for takeout. However, these dumplings were filled with soup, still steaming hot and so delicious!!! The sautéed beef with miso is so good and the Dan Dan noodles had just the right amount of spice. Tuesday night at my son's urging we decided to try Truly Sichuan in Ridgewood. We ordered 6 things and were definitely thinking we would have some leftovers for lunch the next day. Nope, not at this place. We started with " Crispy cucumber salad w garlic vinaigrette dressing $8.95. I popped the lid off the plastic container, ( yes EVERYTHING came in plastic containers )and saw basically 1/3 of an English style cucumber cut into triangular chunks sitting in a very bland vinegar. There was nothing else, no fresh herbs, no signs of even salt or pepper. Next we opened the scallion pancake$7.95. Nothing here to rave about either, in fact, it was pretty greasy and also flavorless. We got Dan Dan noodles with minced pork $8.95. Some good flavors here, but the noodles were so stuck together that some did not even get the nice peanut buttery sauce on them. Steamed chicken dumplings $9.50 were comparable to others I have eaten, but we did not spring for any of their " special sauces" they are willing to sell you. The veggie fried rice $12.95 was light and not greasy, but I blinked and it was gone. The General Tso's chicken was very lightly battered and probably the first time my taste buds woke up during this meal. But we literally had to count the chunks of chicken before digging in because it was less than 12 bites. So, before tip, our bill was $67.44 and there was not one spec of food left. I have never ordered any amount of Chinese food in my life and not had leftovers. I mentioned earlier that they sell some sauces, but this was also the first time I did not have any soy sauce, hot mustard, or duck sauce in the bag. As mentioned earlier, this place is doing no favors for our environment by using plastic for everything. Lastly, you're probably thinking they were going to give you some real high quality complementary treat to end the experience on? Wrong! Not a fortune cookie to be found. read more

I visited Truly last night. The name truly represents the food all the way. It was my daughters 18th birthday. The reason for the 5 stars are great food. Very authentic not like that neighborhood Chinese mess. I am very picky about what I eat. So to sum up the food and flavor I did not send anything back. LOL. We tried the soup dumplings and they were to die for. The ribs and sliced beef is also a must. If you truly want pork fried rice this is where to go. Our favorite authentic Chinese restaurant in the Bergen County region. The name is perfect, as this food is authentic and delicious as it gets, not the typical "dumbed down for suburban Americans"/bland fare that one usually encounters in these parts. We've been here about six times since they opened, so this review is overdue, and although menu got trimmed down a bit after COVID, the owner continues to keep high standards and is super friendly and accommodating. She is clearly passionate about authentic cuisine and high standards, and it shows. We have a combination of vegetarian & omnivores in our usual dinner party, and our favorites tend to be the crisp braised tofu, Sichuan green beans, soup dumplings (perfect!), dan dan noodles, ANY of the fish fillets especially the chili sauce one, and shredded pork in garlic. The appetizers are all to die for. Oh, and the tea selection! Ask for recommendation from the owner, there are some really lovely, delicate and unusual teas to sample. Our only slight gripe is that since the pandemic they've stopped serving brown rice, but it's understandable considering how things have to be streamlined (apparently they weren't getting many orders for it). I am totally unsatisfied with this restaurant. The appetizer I ordered called beef strips was their specialty and not on the menu is so little and expensive., costed $16.95.
