My experience was underwhelming, and the food was just ok. We ordered an appetizer and four specialty sushi rolls. Two of the four rolls were served before the appetizer even came out. When the calamari app finally did arrive about 30 minutes after being ordered, they were huge, over-fried and oil logged rings. Worst calamari I've ever had, and I order it anytime I see it on a menu. Then the other two rolls finally arrived. The server said which rolls they were so fast both times that were delivered that we had to deduce from our recall of the menu which was which. The service was not absent, but bordered on being underserved. There wasn't much personality going on there either. I am not sure why they weren't all served together like any other time in any other restaurant, but I was not a fan of this delivery. For a first time out, it was "meh." I may try it again, and was curious to see what they had to offer based off of reviews here, seeing as Kooma has apparently been going downhill. I ordered Thai takeout from Tsunami and really enjoyed my experience. The menu has tons of options and the food is affordable. It looks like most of the main dishes run between $11 and $20; some even come with soup or salad on the side. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Noodle Soup (veggie option). It was delicious. It was a nice amount of spice and the restaurant separately packed the broth and noodles/veg so that the noodles didn't get soggy. I finally tried tsunami today and was not disappointed. My boyfriend and I went around 3 pm on a Thursday and we were the only ones in the restaurant. We were quickly greeted, sat, and waited on. I ordered the teriyaki tofu while my boyfriend ordered the regular sushi entree. We both chose the miso soup before our entrees. It was very tasty, one of the best miso soups I've had. The food came out quickly after. The tofu was very plentiful and was presented nicely with a variety of veggies and a side of rice. I really enjoyed this dish. We were visiting from NYC and on vacation around the area, so not a lot of option. It was an okay spot with eh ambiance. They made a mistake on our order not once , but twice. My. friend is allergic to seafood , shrimp. So they brought out shrimp tempura when we specifically said no shrimp. We also said no eggs and mushrooms and guess what they brought food out with those things in it. My pad thai wasn't good and not authentic, pad thai doesn't have like a soupy sauce on it, it was also sour with lacking some ingredients. My boyfriend made last minute plans to meet our friends here for dinner on a Saturday night. I hadn't heard about this place, and didn't have time to refer to Yelp to look into it, so I went in pretty blindly. But wow, did he do good! The sushi was phenomenal! The restaurant is pretty casual, with a quite cozy feel. Staff was nice and prompt when serving us our food. Our hungry group of 4 definitely appreciated that! I ordered the jingle bell roll off of their special menu (tis the season, ya'll!) which was truly amazing... dare I say, possibly some of the best sushi I've ever had? It came with noticeably fresh spicy salmon and spicy tuna, and avocado. It was all very well rolled together. I really liked that there was a sufficient amount of fish in it, and it wasn't overpowered with too much rice. I would love to return here next time I'm in West Chester. We really enjoy Tsunami - been here 1/2 dozen or more times. We really like the variety of the offered sushi rolls. When we get tired of our local really close by sushi restaurant (less than 5 minutes from home), we kick it out to Tsunami (20 minutes away) to get our sushi fix. We have tried many things on their menu and never disappointed. I'm writing this review as someone who worked in the kitchen for a short time. They prioritize the sushi above most of the dishes that are made in the kitchen, so if you want them at their best, stick to the sushi bar, rice, and soups. I learned more there in my short time than in any restaurant I've worked in before and it made me a better cook. The chef would make us traditional Cantonese dishes for lunch. I don't know if he is still there, but his food was extraordinary. If you want quality from their kitchen menu, be patient, especially on a busy night - don't compare the cooking and prep time to most other restaurants that you've been to that primarily use prepackaged Sysco ingredients covered in their house sauces (even the "fancy" ones). The lady there is always doing her best to cater to dining expectations that the mainstream crowd is used to. You want perfection? Don't waste the wait staff's time asking them to hurry up. I ordered doordash. It very quick and I was pleased with delivery. I ordered general tsos and the vegetable haru maki. The general tsos was salty and sour more than normal general tsos sauce. The chicken was very soggy and it just kind of off put me when I ate it. I only received 3 vegetable haru maki rolls when it said I was getting four. When we called to inquire, they hung up the phone on us 4 times. I asked to speak to the manager. We offered to come pick up the order ourselves so they did not lose the revenue. We have been trying to do our best to help out local business owners (we have ordered from Tsunami once a week for months) during this difficult time. So, after another evening of overindulging at Tsunami, it occurred to me that I should probably write an update to my review. I was proud of the obscure "aquarium drinker" Wilco reference in my previous review, but the decor has been since been updated and my reference no longer makes sense :( . In fact, while I was a fan of the original aquarium motif, the walls and decor have been tastefully re-done...and while not nearly as interesting (to me), probably more appealing to a wider range of customers. I decided I felt like ordering off their Thai selections. I love Drunken Noodles and have a lot of experience with them so I thought I'd see how they did them. The noodles I got were acceptable, but not exceptional. The noodles were slightly more cooked than I'd like. The dish did not capture the intense beefy and aromatic flavors as well as Drunken Noodles can. I've had much better versions. This wasn't bad. And I'll be coming back. My wife and I recently stopped by here for lunch, she ordered golden general tso chicken and I ordered chicken pad thai noodle. It came with a choice of miso soup or salad and we both opted for miso soup. The soup is ok I feel like it was from one of those instant miso soup package. The entree however was fresh and delicious. My wife is very picky on the spicy level on the chicken, she said this is the best one she had in a while, I think shes was just really hungry, I tried the chicken and it was very tender and the spiciness was just right, its all white meat. My Pad Thai was fresh, chicken was soft and tender, noodle was fresh and tasty, it have the right amount of taste in it.
