IMO this is by far the best Thai Food in West Chester. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have a great menu with lots of options (including lots of vegetarian options and a lot of dishes with meat they make veggie as well). I spent some time living in Thailand a few years ago and always crave Thai food now and Baan Thai is by far the most authentic food I have found in the area (I have tried a lot haha)! Everything I have tried here has been delicious! Pad Thai, Green Curry, Massaman Curry, and Holy Basil are some of my favorites! Also their Thai Iced Tea is delish too! In March, I went there and asked for something very simple: noodles without any meat or dairy. I clearly explained that I am vegan. The woman asked several questions about the noodles and the ingredients, and I specifically asked for tofu instead of meat. She agreed, and I confirmed it with her three times. However, when the food arrived, after four or five bites I realized there was chicken in the dish. When I asked her about it, she admitted that they had put it in by mistake. What was especially upsetting was that they did not tell me themselves; I had to discover it and ask. She offered to replace the dish, but by then I no longer wanted anything. I always come here and even order take-out for their meatball noodle soup. I am in love with pho and this place has the best broth in west Chester! They grill or sear their meatballs before adding it to the soup and they're delicious. Definitely the best I've ever had in pho. It's so flavorful and well done! The staff is so sweet and quick and the iced coffee was great too. Very cozy interior and we loved seeing how busy the mobile pickups were!! Been ordering carryout from this place for over a decade...until tonight. Order was wrong, prices were higher AND portions were smaller. Noticeably smaller. You can mess up any 2 of these, but not all three! When I called (it takes a lot for me to call)...the lady told me that they weigh the noodles and that I was wrong and was not going to do anything about it. Soooo...no more carryout for me! Very disappointed in our experience last night. We were seated and no one came to ask if we wanted water or even take our order. After 15 minutes we left. They have good food but last night turned us off. They were more concerned about their take out service than their dine-in customers. Also, the decor is getting shabby and needs a good cleaning. There's a good chance I will return here someday. I stopped in for a weekday lunch by myself. There were 3 or so other parties already dining and another 2 that sat while I was there and there seemed to be one server helping all of us but she was doing great. I went with a curry lunch special and I had a Thai tea as well. Everything I had was great. Chicken satay was creamy and delicious. Soup was full of flavor. And my curry was delicious too. Excellent find we were over at Longwood Gardens and very quickly found this lovely restaurant. I must inform you that, even with impact of staff showing up that night we were still given great care. Our food tasted awesome. Everybody was polite and understanding. . Well worth the experience . We started off with the shrimp shumai, which were awesome so flavorful such a light thin skin it melted in your mouth . We also had an order of spring rolls, which was quite tasty not over Fried and had a great dipping sauce a little spice and a little sweet. For our dinner, we share two dishes one was the eggplant with chicken cooked to perfection lovely flavor profile . We were starving, so we picked up Chicken Pad See Ew and Chicken Pad Thai. Both items were disappointing. The meat and vegetables tasted unseasoned. The only distinguishable flavor in the Pad See Ew was pepper. The Pad Thai was more flavorful but still lacked depth - we couldn't taste the traditional fish sauce or tamarind that usually gives the dish its trademark flavor. read more

Pretty good Thai food. I ordered the lunch special (available until 3pm). The coconut soup was silky and savory with a uniquely subtropical flavor profile. The red curry dish I found just OK. The dish was not served with enough rice. The vegetables were not cooked enough. The chicken was tender but still maintained some stick on the tooth. I also found the spiciness to be heavy-handed and unnecessary for this dish. As a side I think the Chicken Satay and peanut sauce was my favorite part of the meal. The first time I ate here, I ordered the pho. It was below mediocre - broth seemed a little greasy and I immediately got a stomach ache. But I know that if a restaurant doesn't specialize in pho, it's hard to do well, especially given the time it takes to prepare. So I didn't leave a review at that point--I wanted to give this place another chance. More recently, I came back and ordered the drunken noodles and hot & sour soup. This is one of my favorite restaurants in west Chester, especially because they do a great job with takeout! I haven't dined in, but I did go inside to pickup food (during the current Covid-19 crisis) and the restaurant itself is clean. They do a good job distancing people waiting to pickup food, and they provide hand sanitizer. But back to the food-- it is absolutely all delicious! I highly recommend going here. You will definitely be back! I recommend the beef pho and the pad see ew (if you like spicy, go with maybe a 3/5 and ask for extra spice on the side... We ordered takeout from here a few nights ago. Generally speaking it was ok, but just ok. The papaya salad tasted better on day 2 after som marinating. We ordered some of our standards and these were somewhat lackluster as well. The pad Thai had no peanuts and was served with lemon and not lime. The basil fried rice had more curry than basil. Absolutely loved it! Last month my boyfriend and I went here for the first time, and I'm so glad we did! We LOVE Thai salads/slaws, and their Thai Baan Salad was so delicious! Fresh, tangy, and so dang flavorful, I definitely recommend! I got the Heavenly Curry with fried tofu in it and WOW! Veggie lovers, you gotta try this dish! My boyfriend got the Evil Jungle Princess Chicken dish and he loved it. The food here was very delicious and fresh tasting. They use actual Thai basil in their dishes, which is sooooo good. This place is also BYOB, which was great. The service is the only part I had a problem with, I'd give it a 3/5, they have room for improvement. We were handed our bill without being asked about dessert, and when we did ask, the waiter said there was only 2, but when we mentioned a 3rd kind, he said they had that also... so which was it? 2,3,4,5 desserts? Our waitress also wasn't super knowledgeable in terms of guiding use to vegetarian dishes without fish sauce. They do have options! Just ask! Tonight we were looking for a delicious meal, AND an asian meal, and we immediately thought of Baan Thai in West Chester. Full disclosure, my younger daughter took an AP class in HS with one of the daughters of the owner and they are friends. And so, we wanted to support this wonderful and unique local restaurant during these very uncertain times for small businesses. (We actually started coming to Baan Thai shortly after it first opened, and before my daughter's later connection to the place.) We have ALWAYS had wonderful meals here. We had never before ordered take-out from the restaurant. This was a great decision tonight! As an appetizer we ordered their pork potstickers called Gyoza: 8 succulent tasty treats arrived warm and disappeared quickly! For our first course, we ordered Tom Kah soup with chicken. I love the "full" experience of this amazing coconut-based soup, so mine came with the regular ingredients of mushrooms and onions and some peppers, to which I added chicken. My daughters like the Tom Kah plain, with just the coconut base and the chicken added. Either way it's served, it's To Die For! This soup has a lovely slightly sweet subtle taste of coconut. I am not a huge onion fan BUT in this soup there are just a few pieces and their taste is not at all overwhelming. In fact, they tasted great. :) As our entrees, two of us had Teriyaki Chicken, which was a very generous helping of tender chicken, laid across a bed of vegetables: sliced carrots, green beans, some sliced bell peppers and a few broccoli florets. All of this was in a light teriyaki sauce. Included with this was a side cup of fluffy white rice. We also had Pad Thai Chicken, traditionally made with rice noodles, bean sprouts and covered with peanut pieces. It was great. Extremely flavorful and such a large portion that tomorrow I'll be enjoying it again as I only ate half of it tonight! I did not take photos of our food tonight but when one eats IN at Baan Thai the presentation is always truly beautiful! I hope that day returns soon when we can all "eat-in" again! read more

Very authentic flavors and well executed. Dishes were plated really nicely. I recommend the Tom kah soup, vegetable gyoza, chicken satay and Pad Thai. I've been here a few times and the food is decent. The service isn't great, and our server was a bit slow. For example, when we were ready for dessert, she didn't come by. Instead, another server did and asked us "what dessert" in a curt manner. When I went up to pay because the bill wasn't brought by, I had to stand there for a few minutes, then my server noticed me as she wiped some glasses and then apologized. When we left, server thanked us for visiting, but she laughed at us as we exited. Another thing I've noticed that could be annoying is that the dessert page wasn't in the menu, and some pricing wasn't fully adjusted/corrected between two different menus. read more

I was attracted by the reviews but really it gives no surprise after you walked in. The waiter always seemed very busy. I ordered a Masaman curry. My husband ordered drunken noodle. Drunken noodle tastes better but the beef is not cooked so well. Tom yum soup comes with a good portion and lots of shrimps, the taste is just average. They also imposed a 20% gratuity when we only have a group of 6. Their pricing is quite reasonable, so I won't complain too much even including the gratuity we paid. Visiting family in West Chester, my brother suggested this restaurant. When the 7 of us arrived for lunch we had to share menus although we were the only customers. The food was just okay, certainly not the best Thai I've eaten. But what was beyond belief was the $23.00 charge on our bill--a 20% surcharge that I can only imagine was for having 7 people at the table. (My husband noticed but said nothing & I didn't see the bill until later.) This surcharge was more than any item on the menu & certainly more than I would have tipped for mundane service. When we left, there were only 3 other customers--a couple & a single diner. As the 2 waitresses were obviously not rushed off their feet, I would have thought they would be glad of our business rather than giving us a 20% surcharge that ensures we will never dine there again--& will be sure to tell others not to. read more

Large portions, fresh ingredients and great flavor. The heat level is 0-5. I went with a 3 and enjoyed it. The heat was very present but not overwhelming. Service was attentive and genuinely nice. My wife and I ordered from this establishment via DoorDash. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and dumplings. When our entrées were delivered, we noticed the Chicken Pad Thai had tofu. Never having tofu with any Chicken Pad Thai dish we have had at other restaurants we figured this was a mistake and reached out to the restaurant. The owner/manager was very dismissive to my issue, claiming (with a very nasty attitude) "ALL Chicken Pad Thai comes with tofu. You need to request no tofu." REALLY??? I guess I was mistaken that chicken means tofu?? I tried explaining that unfortunately DoorDash did not specify that in the description and just lists the available options for each entree. And no, we did NOT select the tofu, just chicken. After explaining this several times to the owner, she said "TOO BAD"! then hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this establishment as they do not care about quality assurance nor do they care about customer satisfaction. All they care about is taking your money. You would think with Covid running rapidly and restaurants suffering greatly that establishment such as this one would want to make sure customers are happy. And that they would be great full and appreciative for the business. First time and last time ordering from this establishment! I will not tolerate being spoken to like that.
