Love this place!! And yea, like Trish said, people drive from ALL OVER to go here. I know UVA (1-1.5 hrs away) people make the treck from Charlottesville on the regular and most of my out-of-town friends wouldn't dream of making a trip to Richmond without stopping by here. The bubble tea is perfect...the flavor of the drink itself and the texture and flavor of the boba and that almost goes without saying for Richmonders, so now Ill move on to something else. Come here and get a Taro (one of the best sellers...has a slightly cocoa-like taste, ironically enough) milk tea (slush is really good too, but milk tea is the original) with boba . We love boba so when we found this place while visiting Richmond, we had to try it. Hubby got the Thai Tea flavor and liked it. I got taro after seeing all the great reviews on here and it definitely lived up to the hype. Delicious! In fact, so good that hubby got a taro one to go before we left. They graciously packed it in ice which I thought was really going the extra mile for the customer. My boys got mango and green apple slushes with jelly instead of boba. They were both tasty and the boys were happy with their selections. We will definitely stop here if ever in Richmond again. 5 stars! Only minus- they are closed on Mondays. :( read more

The boba teas are great! I love it! I usually get the green apple and thai tea flavors. The girl who usually works at the front is usually very very rude and she's abrasive. It seems as if she's forced to work there against her will by her parents, possibly? Also, from the other reviews it seems as if others have noticed too as far as the service is concerned... The interior is tacky and crazy but it's okay, I appreciate the tackiness. I haven't been to T.T. lounge for more than a year now, probably longer. Since the Pit and the Peel was closed we decided to come here to quench our thirst. The decor and the service is the exact same as it was 7 years ago when I first came here; a little bit dingy and not really a bright place and the service is pretty blunt and not very helpful sometimes. I got a Taro slush with Boba. My friend wasn't sure about the Lychee flavor so she asked the lady (there's only one other person that works there) about it and she basically said Lychee is lychee, you either like it or you don't.. but my friend never had it before so that's why she asked. She ended up getting something else. The drinks are made to order but unfortunately they use a powder base here but my drink still tasted pretty good and not artificial and the boba had a perfect consistency on them and wasn't overly sweet. TT lounge is located on the VCU campus and is a good spot for students to hang out because they have several couches and tables where people can study or play games. They have a wide variety of milk teas, hot milk teas, and slushes and the flavors are all listed out on a big white board on the wall. Prices for the drinks start at about $3.50 but the boba or jelly costs extra which is a bummer. A plus is that they do accept credit card there. Honestly though, I'm not the biggest fan of their drinks since many places in NoVA use fresh ingredients so the containers of powders on TT lounge's wall is disconcerting to me. They also don't make my favorite flavor, avocado ='[ That being said, if I'm around the area or someone wants to meet up there, I will go. In addition, I have tried other places in the area that focus mainly on bubble tea and TT lounge is by far the winner. The other places either have no flavor or an inconsistent product [bleh]. My favorite drink is their Thai tea slush while many of my friends really like the Taro slush. I tend to stay away from the fruity flavors because I find them too sweet. Come winter time, I like to get their hot milk tea and any of their milk tea items can be made hot. I like to get the honey hot milk tea because the other flavors can be too sweet. This is one of the few places in Richmond to get boba. While the selection here is quite vast, the taste of the drinks are so-so. Some are quite good, but some of my favorites (yogurt slush, green bean slush) taste a bit powdery/artificial and different than how I expected them to taste. Service is decent, although you don't get options to modify the sugar/sweetness content or ice level. The store itself is quite comfortable if you want to sit and chat with friends though. Street parking is not too bad if it's not a busy time of day, although it is on Cary St. so you never know. I know that I am super spoiled from tons of inexpensive, high-quality boba stores all throughout California, but even so, the quality of the drinks at TT Lounge doesn't always justify its prices. I went to VCU and was always a loyal customer at TT lounge. I just went in for old times sake and I am never going back again. The owner (lady) working the counter was beyond rude I was actually shocked at how rude she was. Saw a sign that said "new flavors" and one flavor that was listed was hibiscus. I asked her how it tasted (I know what hibiscus is but flavored powder bubble tea probably tastes different than normal hibiscus flavored food). She told me verbatim "It tastes like what it says, hibiscus. You either like it or you dont." Who the hell answers a customers question like that? I really like the guy behind the counter, he's probably the owner. He was really friendly and super helpful. He offered us some samples which I appreciated. The drinks were delicious and he even packed one of the drinks in a bag with ice for us since we had a long drive. This place isn't the BEST for bubble tea, but it's the only thing most VCU students have when the craving creeps up. Maybe I've been spoiled since I'm originally from NOVA and the bubble tea up near Falls Church is on point (not to mention you can see the fruit being blended right in front of you), but i try to avoid the more fruit-y flavors here... Sadly, all of their bubble tea is made from artificial powders. Thumbs down on that. :( Hold on, I have some good points too. What I like about them is they have some unique flavors, like the yummy Green Tea Mocha boba tea. My personal favorite, since I can't get it anywhere else. Taro is decent, and is super sweet. This is probably the best bubble tea spot in town. We loved that there were a lot of flavors to choose from and that the price is reasonable. You can choose slush or no slush; and can add boba or fruit gummies. Upgrading to a large (which we recommend) costs less than a dollar. Given the variety and low price point we think a five star rating is in order. For something different, I recommend the red bean milk slushy. However, don't hold high hopes for services. There were only two staff there, and neither is exceptionally friendly. You never know their hours, and sometimes it is closed unexpectedly. You cannot get extra bubbles, and sometimes the slush melts a little bit too quickly. read more

Not my favorite bubble tea, but not bad either. My favorites are probably the vanilla bean, taro, and jasmine milk tea! I like how they offer the liquid and smoothie form for most of their flavors. They also offer jellies to be substituted for bubbles. All of their popular flavors (taro, milk tea, thai tea) are all pre-made for the day, so the sweetness can't really be adjusted. I don't really like bubble tea that's too sweet, so that's definitely a drawback for me. Also, a majority of their flavors use powder which is pretty typical, but just a heads up. If there's a lot of people in line they are pretty slow, and there's not really a convenient place to wait so it can get crowded. Their boba is pretty good, but half the times I've been they were out of bubbles. The price is a bit expensive, but there's not a lot of other options for bubble tea in Richmond. Overall, I'd come here if offered but I wouldn't go out of my way for it even if I was close by. read more

Visited: Multiple times over the last 4 years When a new bubble tea place opened in Richmond, people came to me exclaiming that there was "finally a boba place that they could visit" and I made it a personal mission to have them try TT Lounge, which has been a long-standing RVA bubble tea spot! My go-to's are: - Royal milk tea with boba - Taro miilk tea with boba I like more simple flavors, but there are SO MANY OPTIONS for everyone and all of the ones that I've tried are good. I love that the milk tea bases are never too sweet for me and pairs wonderfully with their lightly sweeted, perectly chewy boba. For the base, they have a whole array of flavors (taro, tea, coffee, fruity etc.) For the additions, they have many options- my favorites are the boba and the jelly (great in fruitier) For the consistency, they have milk teas, slushes, and hot teas! The one downside to TT Lounge is that they have hours that can leave you without bubble tea when you want it most, but they've become a lot more consistent and you should always give them a call if you're not sure! They also require a $5 minimum (as of 2/26/17) for credit card transactions or a convenience fee. Regardless, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting TT Lounge! read more

Yum! Finally a place that has plain milk tea with boba ("royal milk tea per shop's menu) and it's not "slushie'd" which is exactly how I want it. The milk tea/royal milk tea here is very good (this flavor has been my fave for about 10 years now) considering that I've always been able to get this kind of drink in the Philippines and in California where boba milk tea shops are more common. Bf tried the Rose milk with Boba and I was unsure that he'd like it but he did and was also very good. I kept taking little sips from his drink until... i couldn't get away with it anymore. hehe. The only downside was.... being handed the straws by hand... I would rather get my straws out of a bundle from a canister or a dispenser (similar comment about this from another reviewer below). It was a bit disconcerting since the guy was holding the straws at one end instead of trying to at least hold it where it's more sanitary? does that make sense? Anyway, I just let it pass and enjoyed the drink. We went on a Sunday so parking was easy to find on the street. read more

While the place may seem cozy, I have to say, the service, price, and sanitation are far from acceptable. I know it's "boba" and not a "restaurant", but seriously? If you consistently run out of the tapioca pearls in the evening, shouldn't you make more? If you run out of pearls and a customer asks what the price is for the milk tea without the pearls, do you say, "It's the same: $3.95 + tax, without boba. There's only one button on this machine. No boba."? Is it the customer's fault you ran out of boba? Methinks, "No". Is it THAT ridiculous to charge a lesser price, or at least try to make the sale? If the cashier puts the straw in to the cup for the customer, should the cashier proceed to touch two bare fingers to the straw tip? Do you leave the boba in plastic cups, uncovered, and on the counter? To answer all these questions......Yes, TT Lounge did all of the above. The drinks probably taste fine (it IS universal artificial flavoring they're using), but the sanitation and unwillingness to make a simple sale is simply unhealthy and rude. I have to say, I've NEVER given a 1-star to any establishment, but the rude tone of voice and sanitation issue is quite off-putting. I went to TT Lounge for the first time and the guy there was very helpful he gave me and my friend samples being it was our first time getting boba he let us try Royal Milk & Taro milk tea I personally liked the taro one and both me and my friend didn't really enjoy royal milk but it's just a opinion well I got the taro milk tea with tapioca boba And she got passion fruit slush with tapioca boba my baby girl liked the taro so I gave it to her and got a lychee slush with jellies My friend wasn't a fan if the tapioca boba so she also purchased another passion fruit slush but with orange popping boba pearls which are the delicious pearls that sweet frog tends to have while we were there he gave us a sample of mango slush which was delicious next time I go I'm planning on getting lychee mixed with watermelon slush and boba popping pearls overall the guy there is very helpful on top of his business and customers I am definitely going again great for kids they have cards on tables so they can play 5 stars read more

Ha, I'm one of those crazy people that Trish is referring to....who lives in 1.5-2 hrs away in NoVA and makes a point to stop at TT for a fix if I'm in the area. My faves are the milk tea slush and thai tea slush - perfectly blended smoothly without a hint of an ice chunk. The boba is equally done well...it's the optimal chewiness with a trace of sweetness. To cap it off, they use the Lollicup-esque sealing technique so you don't lose a single drop as you gleefully slosh around the precious goodness to better get at the boba. I didn't think it could get any better, but then discovered that if you order drinks to go for friends or to drink later, they put them in a bag with loose ice to keep them chilled.
