I was wary of the super-low reviews of this place but they had openings and Fanci Nails across the street didn't so I sat down and got it going. I noticed right away that there was a fine layer of dust over everything. I was looking for a dip manicure but they pushed gel so I went with it. They shaped my nails "square but round", which I've never tried before but am really enjoying. My nails are even so I'm happy! The women working were not particularly friendly or kind. I tried a couple times to talk to the woman who was doing my nails without result. Also, when I sat down I waited probably 5-10 minutes until she started on my nails. I don't know if there was any other reason than the women talking to each other. Other women came in to get their nails done and I noticed that one of the nail techs didn't get to her for at least 10 minutes, because the tech was getting her own nails done next to me. I'm not sure why. Maybe they were practicing designs with each other? Also, my left thumb didn't cure completely so I was left with a sticky nail. Bummed. Also also -- I think my nail tech was a little scissor-happy, my fingers felt like they'd been chopped up a little and stung under the curing lamp. Total for my gel mani was $30. Overall, I won't be back. Happy enough with my nails, but it seemed like the employees are more interested in talking to each other than helping customers, and the salon seemed dirty. read more

It's hard to write a review for this place because my first visit was awesome - I loved the person who did my nails but forgot to ask her name. I've been back several times since then and it's never been as good. The environment is okay. The service varies - Great sometimes, poor sometimes. I went in for a Mani last week and the girl doing my nails put a nail polish bottle right next to my wet fingernails. I accidentally bumped it and she didn't want to fix my nail. When I asked her to fix it she told me to "Be more careful!" There was no hand massage and no acknowledgement that she set the bottle right by my wet nail - it wasn't even my polish. Not sure why she set it there. I think I'll try other places. read more

I'm not sure why I have seen such bad reviews about this salon. I moved to the area in November 2018 and have previously gone to TU Nails in Woodbury so I thought I would give this place a try. I do acrylics with gel polish and get their deluxe pedicures and have only had one bad experience that was prior to me having one dedicated person do my nails. I see Heidi and she is absolutely wonderful! My nails look fantastic! I have also gone to Jenny when Heidi has been out. Both are very kind and social. Yes, the salon is a bit dated and could use a thorough cleaning but I see this in many of the Minnesota salons due to a lack of state board presence vs what I was used to in California prior to coming to MN. As long as I live in the area and Heidi is at the salon, I will be returning. read more

My visit was a walk-in due to me not living near this particular area. I was just looking to get a pedicure with a friend and her daughter. The staff was pretty quiet and I was unable to get a response the majority of the time. When we had first walked in, we were rudely instructed to "sit down and wait". We had called ahead of time to see if we were able to get in right away for three people total, in which one would be a young child, so they had said that we could come right in. They only had two pedicure spas set up and was basically forceful with us that the kid didn't need a spa pedicure. The experience overall was unbelievable. The massage was nonexistent and if you have requests for the care of your nails, you will disappointed. When my friend and her child were finally accepted to receive normal polish instead of gel, they were pretty disappointed in the results as well. About fifteen minutes after they had walked out, the polish had been already peeling off clearly from their nails. The place was covered in fine dust from top to bottom. COVID restrictions consist of wearing a mask. 6-feet social distancing between us and other guests was not applied in any such manner. I will not be returning to this location. I do not recommend this place for children. I do not recommend this place for nail designs. I do not recommend this place for acrylics. I do not recommend this place for normal nail polish. I do recommend this place if you are looking for a "quick fix" with gel polish. This would be the only reason I would recommend this place. read more

I'm sure I've tried this place out many years ago but I was in the area with time to kill and decided I'd give it another go. Prices are fairly reasonable BUT the quality doesn't reflect to the prices. When I entered the nail salon I was hoping to find some sort of options sheet and pricing but there isn't any to be found. I assumed they'll show me something when they get to me. I went in for a pedicure to start. My post is giving the 3 stars because of that. I did end up agreeing to a manicure but I'd give that a 1 star. The pedicure: the pedicure is mediocre, I wasn't offered any sort of style so I assume there's only one option. I had no idea price so I just went with it. I picked out a few colors I liked but asked if they had something that wasn't gel. The woman instead told me why I needed gel and I said I didn't want gel because it ruins my nails. She continued on with the grooming and said nothing. She asked if I'd like my nails trimmed, I said filed please. (I've gotten infections before from people catching skin) She clipped them and ignored my response. The pedicure itself it definitely basic run of the mill. Back to the nail polish, she asks if I have a color picked out again and I said, "yes but I'd like one similar that is not gel." She said something along the lines of, "only gel." Annoyed and against what I wanted I finally just agreed to the damn gel on my toes. She asked if I'd like a pedicure too. I said, I don't want gel on my nails, especially my finger nails so if you don't have non-gel then NO. She then says yes. What?!? I asked you how many times for my toes. We finish the pedicure and moved to the manicure. She cleans up my cuticles and sands down the nail, scratched and roughed is the more appropriate description. It was not followed by a nice nail buff. She then comes over with a non-gel nail polish that I asked for to begin with that she didn't have for my toes. She asks if I'd like to pay before my nails were painted, I said yes. She doesn't tell me the total, just takes my card and charges it. She comes back, $60 for the two. Not horrible considering I had no idea what to expect. There's no tip line, I ask where to tip on the receipt. She replies, "you not have cash?!" I replied, "no usually you can tip when you pay." She was obviously mad but what the heck. I said I will have to get you cash and come back, write down your name on a card for me and I'll attach it. She painted my nails with two coats and sent me to the drying machine. Several minutes later she came over and put a clear coat on and said nothing. I asked her to please write her name on a card for me. Her response was ok and she just walked away and went onto the next person. I sat and dried my nails for 20+ minutes. She never came back and I didn't know how long I was to sit there so I got up and politely interrupted and asked how long I should dry them. She said you're good, just be careful. I left and I went to the nearest cash machine to get her a tip. This is how I ruined the tip of my nail, go figure. I came back and gave her the cash, $15 tip for a shitty manicure and a mediocre pedicure that was $60, I'd say she was over compensated. read more

Today was my 3rd time walking through the door. The first time was great. My nails looked great and the service, while not friendly, was competent. The second time, I waited for 30 minutes and still didn't get in. Today, I called and made an appointment. I arrived and was placed in a chair. I waited 35 minutes before a tech started my pedicure. The water had to be warmed 3 times. Anyway, once we started, it just got worse. The tech (Hoa Thi Tran) was so rough. And she rushed. The massage was non-existent. She really just rubbed on some lotion. Then it was manicure time. I asked how long it would take and she said 30 min. I had initially wanted gel dips, but she made a face and said, "just gel manicure " while she was rushing through my pedicure. When I was at her nail station I told her I wanted a French and she made a face, grabbed my hand and rolled her eyes. Then she slammed her tools onto the station. That's when I left. I paid her for the mediocre pedicure, dropped my purse and ruined my toe. Just the cherry on top of my "relaxing" mani/pedi. There was another woman (novice pedi person) who came in with an appointment. They plopped her into a chair with cold water. I had to ask twice for the water to be warmed for her. I've been getting my nails done for years at several places all over the twin cities but this place by far exceeds all of them! It's like visiting friends when it's time to get my nails done. Mindy and Erin are one hard working, customer pleasing husband and wife team that really want to make sure you're happy. I always call to get an appointment, usually the same day and are able to accommodate me right around the time I want. I prefer the pink and white on my nails and a French gel polish on my toes and they do it perfectly and the nails can last up to 3 weeks and the toes well over a month. They also do gel nails and have a large assortment of gel colors. The pedicure area is separate from the nail area and so nice with luxurious massage chairs. I highly recommend this place if you want high quality and superb customer service! read more

Tu Nails is the only place to go for the best mani / pedi service in and around Lakeville. I know because I've tried the other nail salons - here are the differences. Quality. Tu Nails stands by its work. Owners Aaron and Mindy insist on repairing any work that I'm not 100% satisfied with, free of charge. This doesn't come up often and when it does, to be honest I feel like it's always been extreme wear on my part, but they insist on fixing my nail(s) free of charge regardless. A gel manicure at Tu's lasts 3-4 weeks, depending on how fast your nails grow. Atmosphere. Aaron and Mindy make you feel like you're a part of their family. To be honest, I wasn't into going and having my nails done except maybe once every few years until I started going to Tu Nails, but now I look forward to seeing them, catching up and talking with other regulars. The pedicure massage chairs always are in working order unlike some places and at Tu, they always keep those magazines I never buy, but look forward to reading on hand (People, Us, etc.). Services. I've had the deluxe pedicure, gel manicure (french on both), eyebrow wax, paraffin dip and would recommend them all highly. I'm trying to get a women's group to go every 3-4 weeks after hours for wine and spa services - Aaron and Mindy are eager to accommodate that as well as showers, bachelorettes, wedding parties, etc. Price. Having tried all of the other salons within a ten mile radius, including full service spas as well as other nail salons, I know Tu Nails prices are among the lowest. When you add the quality of their workmanship plus the fact they truly stand by their work, their prices truly become the lowest in the area. Background. As someone who now counts Aaron and Mindy part of MY extended family, you might wonder if I'm biased, but I first came to Tu Nails intending to get my annual summer pedicure. I ended up talking to Mindy and learning her story - how her family fled Vietnam after several failed escape attempts, some of the terror she's lived through and how she and Aaron met as high school sweethearts. I didn't come back after that visit for a few months and Mindy remembered me, things we'd talked about, and we picked right back up where we left off. I should add that my pedicure - three months later - still looked great after that three months aside from the nail growth! I started coming back more frequently and watched Mindy and Aaron work tirelessly to make not only me, but every client who walked in feel welcome and special. I have been going to Tu's for over a year because of a recommendation and I'm so glad I found them. The salon keeps improving it's services. I went for maniped and lip waxing. The pedicure was amazing! Very comfortable massage chairs, offered refreshments, very clean and very friendly. I had a wonderful leg massage and a french manicure. I had gel nails done for the first time and she was a perfectionist about how they looked. All this for $70.00. I highly recommend this salon. read more

I whole heartedly agree with the previous reviewer! I LOVE Tu Nails. I get a manicure and pedicure monthly and have tried countless places that have failed to satisfy me until I found Tu Nails. I drive to Tu Nails from Shakopee (35 minutes) and probably pass at least six different nail salons on my way. It is absolutely worth it. The nail technicians at Tu Nails truly take pride in what they do and have created a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere! The price is right, too! If you are tired of paying too much money for unsatisfactory hands and feet, I would recommend you give Tu Nails a try! Love this place! read more

As I write this, I'm hesitant. Not because I'm not confident in my rating but that there are two parts to add into this review and justifying a "star rating" doesn't seem fair. I adore Aaron. He's sweet, always remembers me, asks how me and my friends and my work are. Professional and fantastic in every aspect. With that said...my final experience with Tu was last week. I'm still frustrated. I called knowing they closed soon but with my schedule I rarely am done before 9pm. Aaron told me to come in anyways. I was overjoyed. Tami was my nail tech. I requested a color change on my toes and a simple manicure. I was badgered into a pedicure. Asked several times. I got tired of saying no. I gave in. I was wearing tight jeans, hate wasting what could have been a good pedicure when I'm unable to have access to my whole legs. She insisted. And insisted. She then made side conversation, when it was obvious they were closing and I'd needed to be out of there about 10 min earlier. I told her I could come back for the manicure. She insisted. AGAIN. And she insisted on gel this time. I'm tight on cash and insist on tipping anyone in the service industry if deserved so I usually opt for a cheaper service to accommodate. Hence color change, simple manicure. She rushed the pedicure, rushed the manicure, and when they didn't have the color I had hastily picked out... I requested a simple manicure again. Clear. "No, you need color." Rude. Aaron witnessed the whole thing. That's why my loyalty can go elsewhere. I've spent hundreds of dollars on acrylics in the past, many a pedicure but I unfortunately cannot bring myself to spend anything else there again. Those two stars are ONLY for AARON. My daughter and I had a mani/pedi done last week. As you know - it takes time to get this done. It wasn't a good experience and in the end, both of us had terrible looking polish - Mindy was very nice about attempting to clean them up - but truthfully - wiping it clean and putting on a new coat is not the answer, 4 days have gone by and they are chipped and cracked and basically I need a new manicure - time and money wasted - Yuck. My 2 daughters and my sister in law who was visiting came here for a manicure for something fun to do over Thanksgiving. My older daughter said they had good, longer lasting gel manicures, which is a plus (although we did regular manicures). No customers were in the salon and they had a lot of employees to help us, but it was hard to communicate (that was ok though... Just difficult) and they then proceeded to sit all over the salon, forcing us to all separate when the stations accommodated 2 customers per station; hence, we all had to sit far apart instead of receive our manicures next to each other allowing us to visit. Additionally, the workers were loudly chatting to each other in their language. It was like their fun outing, not ours. When they put us at the dryers we did get to sit together and end the manicure next to each other, thankfully. It definitely soured the experience though. I don't understand why they didn't sit us next to each other so we could visit and enjoy our outing together and their loud chatter seemed rude. I will not be returning to this particular salon. It would be fine if you were solo though. read more

I used to love going to Tu Nails for some much needed me time pampering. being a customer for over four years I have started to notice little things that really irk me and upset me about the staff and how they treat and or respond to the customers and clientele that keep their business running. Several times during my visits to the salon Mindy The owner will answer the phone but instead of being polite and courteous to the people who pay her bills and keep her business running she is very short and snappy on the phone with them and including me. I always find it tacky and rude when my nails are drying and other clients nails are drying and the nail technicians sits there across from the client and counts their tips and cash right in front of the customer almost as if to say oh you better Tip me. Which is never a problem when I go in. but today in particular I went to pay for the services I received and was more than happy with the nails I selected and the technician who performed the service. However when it came time to pay i used my credit card and the total was $32 and I instead decided to make it 45 because I really liked how the nails came out I was very satisfied with the nail technicians abilities and decided she deserved a big tip. This didn't become an issue until I told my nail technician who was ringing me up that I wanted to do the tip electronically and not a cash tip which usually is fine because I've been going here on and off for four years however Mindy spoke up and said we don't do that here and said cash tip on the next time cash tip only and I was so appalled by how she speaks to people that are her clientele just very snappy and very like she doesn't have time to be bothered by you but when she's in the salon she walks around takes phone calls and says oh I can't do it 2 o'clock however the salon was not packed at all and she was not busy taking care of anything as a manager I believe you should be greeting the guests making sure that they are comfortable if they need a drink if they need you know make sure they're having a good experience. At one point in elderly woman had come in and she still treats every single individual that enters her business with an attitude as if she has something better to do when in actuality I sat there and got my nails done and she was sitting on her phone for a good 10 to 15 minutes so I will not be going back to Tu Nails because of how Mindy fails to act like an actual owner of her own business I believe that it's embarrassing and a bit pathetic that you don't take the time to treat all customers with respect that they deserve whether they call make a mistake have questions or want to come in right away and you are just not respectful. Tu Nails was recommended to me by a girlfriend whose opinion I always trust. She was right as usual. I now only go to Tu Nails. I have had so many compliments on my nails and I am always happy with them. What's even better is that they make it a point to make your visit personal and are extremely friendly. I went to Tu Nails as a walk-in for a pedi. Their website stated $20 Pedi's Mon-Thursday but the nail tech argued with me even when I showed her the site. Said she would do the $35 pedi for $30. I went ahead and got the deluxe pedi but was so disappointed. I was sitting by a friend who said that she came there all the time and later told me that she had had the tech I had once and never would again. Watching the massage that my friend was receiving, I was looking forward to mine. The massage was basically non-existant (which my friend noted also) but the worst part was the big chunk of skin she cut off the end of my toe. I mentioned it to the gentleman at the door but at that point because it wasn't (thankfully) bleeding there wasn't anything to see. I stopped back in the day afterward to show them my toe and also point out the old polish that was left around one of my toes. The owner did clean that up and looked at my toe but blamed it on cracked skin, which it was not, it clearly had a chunk out of it. I was offered an apology but no refund or anything.
