My dad, wife, puppy and I stopped here for lunch during a visit to the very cool artists' enclave of Tubac during our recent trip to see Dad in Green Valley. The interior of this establishment is very nice. We sat on the very nice, dog friendly patio, and each had a couple of beers to our taste. Dad had a hamburger and fries, my wife had a bowl of chili with fries for dipping, and I had a chili cheeseburger and a side of beans with a bit of a kick to them. Everything was cooked as ordered, and everyone was very pleased with their meal. I'd be happy to visit this establishment again on our next trip to see my father. We tried several different dishes here, including the Shrimp Tacos, Broasted Chicken, Prime Rib sandwich, Veggie quesadillas. My Broasted chicken was decent. The rest wasn't worth eating. Brosted Chicken, this was recommended to us before we went. All three of us had it and it was very good. The waitress told us in advance that there would be a wait so that advice was very welcome. Casual, inviting atmosphere. Amazing staff-so welcoming and friendly. We were asked how long we would be staying in Tubac and given some suggestions of things to do,including a bar that had karaoke that night We were told that Tubac Jack's usually has live music, but that night it had gotten canceled. We only had an appetizer-the Nachos for 2. (Way more than plenty) on suggestion from our bartender/server, we added smoked pork. It was amazing! After that, we had no room for an entree. While family was visiting for Thanksgiving, we visited Tubac for the first time and had lunch at Tubac Jack's. I thought it was odd that they only had one menu for the six of us, but we made do. Our waitress had a great personality. I liked the atmosphere and thought the food was very good. My son and I shared nachos with pulled pork. The nachos are meant for sharing. The sandwiches we ordered were out of this world BAD. I ordered the special brisket thinking specials of the day are typically freshest. The bun was stale, I had one slice of brisket that bordered on being beef jerky it was so tough. My husband had a burger, he thought it was coming out rather simple. We were a bit concerned after reading the negative reviews, but decided to try Tubac Jack's anyway. So glad we did! Our meals were excellent - I had the green chili pork burrito (enchilada style, so flavorful and good!!!) and my sister had the chili verde stew, and loved it. Portions were huge, so we have lunch for tomorrow. The service was also excellent - fast, attentive, and friendly. Hmmmm, not my fave joint in Tubac, yet it may have its merits. Once you come in from the back, you're engulfed in darkness, mustiness and unseeable furnishings and surroundings! Watch your step, the booths are about 10" off the floor. It took about 10 minutes for the menu to arrive. It was so dark, my wife and I had to turn on our phone flashlights to read the menu. Being hungry we went ahead and ordered: me a Pacifico she a Sprite; as a lover of green chili I picked Jack's Green Chili Stew, kinda watery with some objects in or around the broth somewhere (never tasted any green chili). My wife thought she'd go for some that could not be messed up, the (beer?) Battered Jumbo Onion Rings (although tasty, but way to greasy). We somehow got our waiter's attention in the dark to pay our bill. When you can't see what your eating, or the persons face who is serving it, there is something wrong with that picture. Who knows, maybe it was a pretty place to look at, other foods may have been good, maybe. We got up, searched for the exit, we stumbled our way out and were blinded by the sunlight. The service was horrible. We went to the hostess station inside, were asked if we wanted inside or outside seating. We said outside, so she said we could sit anywhere. Found a table, ordered and received our beverages. 2 tables were sat nearby and had their food before us. We went inside to ask about our order because the waitress hadn't been back. She said she thought someone else brought out our food and she said she would get it right out and offered us a complimentary appetizer, which we declined, but got 2 beers on the house. A different server brought our food order. The cranberry, walnut, feta salads had no cranberries. We asked the second server about this and she said she'd ask the kitchen for cranberries. She came back with our first server apologizing that there were no cranberries, so they no charge for the salads. We never saw either server again and left after 30 minutes. We left cash on the table to cover the food. So frustrating and it really ruined our day in Tubac. read more

Worst meal I have ever had in my life. I wish I could give zero stars on Yelp. Hubby had the broasted chicken which was greasy. The potatoes were cold and hard and tasted liked they had been cooked 2 hours ago. I had a green Chile quesadilla with chicken. It tasted like it was made with precooked chicken and canned green chiles. It was pretty awful. So bad I only ate 1/4 of the dish. The beer and margarita we had were at least enjoyable. The bathrooms and kitchen need attention, as other reviewers have described. The service was good, though: Now to be absolutely fair, we did not complain or try to send back our food, but only because I read some of the responses from the business on Yelp and google which are pretty condescending to patrons. They seem more interested in a tit for tat than fixing their problems. read more

Although this place use to have great food and the best salsa I've ever tasted, it's now not very good. We were at the bar and my friend and I ordered drinks, I had a margarita which was very good. My friend ordered Sauvignon blanc. The wine was turning and was undrinkable. The bartender would not replace it with fresh wine and charged us for the glass that was a full pour. I have tried to like these new owners but they don't really care about the customer. The food is below average and the salsa should be free. Nothing to write home about. Just go to the golf resort. Tubac Jack's is our go-to restaurant when we go to Tubac. For years we have gone in to order a side order of their delicious Steak Fries. Yesterday (1-23-2022) we ordered the fries and were disappointed to learn they switched out the Steak Fries for regular French Fries that weren't that good. read more
