Good food, nice service, reasonably priced .. & .. on a nice evening the semi-outside dining area is beautiful. The only concern I have is, every time I've been to The Tuckahoe Inn " they run out of their seafood special ". That's a very good sign, as far as the quality of the food .. but .. for someone like me who loves fresh seafood .. it's disappointing. But ... that's strictly a " timing issue ". You've heard the saying, " The early bird catches the worm " .. well .. at The Tuckahoe Inn it's, " The early diner gets the seafood special ". My grandsons soup, one of their signature dishes was good. My red snapper with crabmeat topping was served with a mound of sliced almonds very small amount of crab meat....small tiny cubed pieces and the fish was dry. the sides were small potatoes with skin, not cut; and green beans. I asked the waitress if I could switch out the potatoes, and she said I could have mashed potatoes but its a $2 up charge! I laughed. My dinner was awful. the children's food was mediocre at best. While paying my tab I gave the waitress a gift card and she told me that the restaurant does not accept gift cards due to their "new POS system". What? I won't be back. read more

Just ate there today and I must say they are the real deal . My girlfriend had the honey glazed and garlic salmon and it was perfection. I had the crab cake which was the best ever. We visited here during a recent vacation. We chose to sit outside on the Back Bay. Food was so/so, quite pricey. Limited tap beer, fairly warm canned beer. What concerns me is the wait staff. The kitchen/service station was visible from where we sat. From what i could tell the chefs would plate the main course and the wait staff would then add the sides from this serving station. The issue here is many of the wait staff would just reach in and pick food up from the serving station with their bare hands and eat it. No sanitation between serving, plating, eating. My boyfriend and I had the best New Year's Eve outing because of the inn and because of one of the bartenders. I wish I got her name but unfortunately we were too deep in our fantastically crafter drinks to ask haha! I had asked if it was still possible to order food but the kitchen closed so she offered me her dunkaroos. She was such a sweet heart for trying to share them and then on top of that put up with my pickiness of drink ordering. I was trying to go out of my comfort zone and try something new and when I didn't like a drink she did what she could do make it better and did a great job. Been eating here for 20+ years. Got the prime rib it was so bad and mushy. Full of fat and drowning in spices. Tasted like it was sitting in water for hours. Also was supposed to have crab there was hardly any on the steak. Manager was too lazy to come over and at least say sorry. We paid $90 for two prime ribs that were god awful. Went downhill here I'll never go back again. Manager should be fired there was no one in place and they didn't have the balls to come over they made the poor waitress come over and give us an explanation. Thanksgiving dinner was a wonderful experience for our table of five. Most of us enjoyed the Turkey plate, but I had the honey glazed salmon and my partner loved the broiled seafood: Lobster, stuffed flounder, scallops and shrimp. Hoo-boy! Butternut squash soup all around, and a couple of rounds of Yard Lager kept the evening festive. The wait-staff was impressive. We had our annual OC vacation dinner. All dinners were delicious. Several ordered the flounder stuffed with crab meat. It was really good. Great beer and cocktail selection. The Tuckahoe tomahawk was especially tasty. Our server was attentive. The only improvement I can suggest is a remodel. The restaurant sits on a beautiful coast, but the interior and exterior of the actual restaurant has seen better days. There is a musty odor. We have been loyal customers here for over a decade but service has declined considerably. There is one bartender that has an attitude towards my father and either ignores us or talks down to us. When we first got there tonight he wasn't around and other bartenders were attentive. When he walked in, saw us, he went and talked to the other bartenders. After that we were ignored and had to flag someone down after 15 minutes to get another drink. My last beer wasn't a full pour- she never tilted glass and I had lots of foam. My 89 yr old Mom lives in Ocean City and comes often to treat my brother (a big meat eater). They love it, especially the Turkey Dinner. I had my hopes to enjoy the view, which was really nice It's always tough eating out when mostly vegan, but I'm flexible, so had the Penne Pasta and house salad. The house salad was basically a pre made salad mix with a few cherry tomatoes on top; nothing creative. All other salads on the menu contained animal products, so was not an option for me. The Penne Pasta was not that good. The pasta was not flavorful and although the menu mentioned sauteed in their marinara with a "touch of cream", It was swimming in cream and cheese. Ate the early bird dinner and it's now 2 in the morning. Still awake as I feel as if I was punched in the gut all night. It takes a very high fat meal for me to feel like this. That said, for those that love seafood, you're in luck. For my vegitarian and vegan friends that are dragged here by well meaning family and trying to keep peace, take serious enzymes before you eat the one and only vegitarian options on the menu. My advice for the restaurant would be to change the vegitarian option to full vegan ( pasta with red sauce and or veggies/ no cream, no cheese), or add a few more plant friendly options for guest of those enjoying their full menu. read more

I will jump right in & not waste your time - As our food was served my toddler became super fussy and would not sit in her high chair or eat, so I walked her outside to listen to the band while the rest of my party ate their dinner. Apparently while I was outside the waitress came over three separate times to ask what I was doing with my food & to let everyone know that "we couldn't just take up a window seat all night." Anyway, I requested to speak to the manager (Mike? Matt?), and found the conversation to be so bizarre. He informed me that "everyone should really be sitting down for dinner," & "she is kind of right about the window seat" with a smirk. Number 1, I did not ask for the window seat. Number 2, we were seated 20+ minutes past our reservation (we sat & waited patiently with zero complaints). 3, service was mediocre before this incredibly awkward incident (drink orders were missed & we had issues with our appetizer). & 4 the manager was SUPER rude! Surrounding parties were there when we arrived & still conversing when we left, so we definitely were not staying any later than any others. Anyway, after rushing through my meal as the manager hovered over me with the check ($200 for 3 meals and a baby), we paid and left. As we walked out, there were 0 people in the waiting area. I don't blame the waitress for having such a poor attitude when her manager obviously cares so little about customer service. My cousin frequents this restaurant multiple times a year, and my family and I decided to give it a try. It is very pretty on the outside, and is located near the water which is great. It was also very cutely decorated for the Fall holidays which I loved!! One of the downsides was that our waitress was really nice, but I could tell she was super busy (serving a LOT of tables) so she would take a while to get our drinks/give us bread/take our orders, etc. I ordered a Diet Coke, and then went with the early bird dinner. I ordered the chicken parm and then the peanut butter pie. (which also comes with tea or coffee) I drank my water almost immediately (since the drinks took a while to get to us) but we never had our waters refilled. I was also disappointed that even though our entrees came with a side salad or soup of the day, we were not allowed to order a different salad or soup for an upcharge. My Mom and I both wanted French Onion Soup (the cup of soup) but the only soup that was allowed to be an "upcharge" was Clam Chowder. Since we wanted French Onion Soup, we had to pay for that a la carte completely. Same thing with my fiance, he only eats Caesar salad, no other types of salad. But since it only came with a house salad, he had to also pay completely a la carte for the Caesar salad. My Nana wasn't a huge fan of her turkey dinner, and I thought my chicken parm was cooked a little too much and didn't have enough sauce on it. The pasta also did not seem to have enough sauce. The peanut butter pie was really delicious, and super rich (I couldn't eat the entire thing). My Mom and fiance both had a complaint about the women's and men's bathrooms respectively. I didn't find anything wrong with the women's bathroom, but my Mom thought they were really old and could definitely be renovated (she said they appeared to have been from the 1950s). As for my fiance, the urinals were just one long troth..... not even urinals..... so updating the bathrooms would also be nice. read more

The Tuckahoe Inn has been a long time favorite of mine. I came here regularly back in 70s and 80s then again became a regular a few years ago. The restaurant itself is as I remember with a wonderful view of the bay and the old center bar. The newer addition is the outside bar area on the beach. 7 The food is very good across the board and is quintessential American fare. The prime rib is a real winner as well as the Turkey dinner. Yhe sandwiches are strong and the fries are good. I also recommend the sweet and sour calamari. A real favorite for atmosphere. Price and food. Keep it up! read more

I wish I could put zero stars... I wish I could tell you this place has good food. I wish I could tell you this place was a great place to go with family. Unfortunately I didn't get further than check in and the parking lot. I was told there is a 40 minute wait. Sure, no problem. 1hr and 20min later, I was told "we have to seat all the reservations first and then we'll seat walk-ins and call-aheads." The lady at the desk was very professional and sweet but her manager continuously yelled in her ear and was completely unprofessional and rude. The poor girl was in tears. If they were honest and upfront about the wait, I would absolutely go back another day. I would like to go back one day and maybe try what appears to be delicious food, but I'm not sure I can get past how they lie to their customers and treat their staff. read more

This review is for the Back Bay Cafe. Two of my friends and I went this past Thursday evening for the live music & drinks/light dinner. We ordered drinks - I got a margarita, and my friends got a pina colada and one of their speciality cocktails, respectively. All were super good. The food menu for the Back Bay Cafe is small. Almost all of the items had meat or seafood in them, and one of my friends is a vegetarian so this left her with very little options. Vegetarian friend and I both decided to get nachos. I added the optional chicken. For $11, I expected nachos with all the fixins. Nope. Just a pile of tri-color chips with neon orange, movie theatre nacho cheese poured on them with a couple nickel-sizes pieces of chicken sprinkled on. I felt sick after. Vegetarian's nachos came out similarly. Gross. Third friend ordered Mahi Mahi tacos which looked good. Afterwards, we left our picnic table and headed over to the bar that is built into a grounded sailboat. I ordered Jameson on the rocks, and was given a 12oz glass filled to the top with Jameson and ice. That was very generous of the bartender, but there was no way I would ever finish that much Jameson, or even care for that much Jameson. I probably drank a quarter of it (about the size of a "normal" whisky on the rocks). Huge waste. For the first 20-30 minutes we were there, we were constantly swatting away wasps. Three, four wasps at a time. I asked the waitress if they had any citronella candles or anything and she said no, but she'd see if her manager could spray anti-wasp stuff. It seemed to work, but if you're going to have an outdoor bar, I think it would be a good idea to be a bit more on top of the bug situation especially if your guests are already paying $11 for ballpark quality nachos. The whole experience was slightly lower than mediocre, except for the Nancy Malcun Band who were excellent and made things more lively. read more

The draft beer menu is good & the bartenders are skillful with all libations & friendly. First off, they do not seem well equiped to handle large parties. Secondly, Twice an order of clams was served without butter. And the order that did have it, it was garlic butter. They are heavy handed with garlic and do not give you an option for normal drawn butter. Third, the calamari was quite bland. The cook staff seem to have trouble with their seasoning. I ordered a ceaser salad with a crab cake ontop and that was the best part of the experience. Their crab cakes are very moist and complimented a variety of the dishes ordered at my table tonight.
