Staple in New Hampshire! Everytime I go here I try a new drink or a new food item and always love it . The bourbon bacon and the campfire biscuits are standouts ! The service is quick and the vibe is classic New England diner ! In a plaza if you can't find it on the main road

From its slightly prosaic exterior, it doesn't look very big. When you walk inside the dining area though, that's a whole other story. It was kinda surprising to us, because we immediately assumed there would be a lengthy wait. Even the quoted 30 minute wait ended up being more like 20. It was a mild, sunny Saturday morning/afternoon when we were in search for some breakfast or even a decent brunch. Somehow forgetting that I had previously bookmarked this page for future visits (yeah, I do this WAY too often), we finally settled on Tucker's. Although the place apparently does not serve alcohol (really wanted a Mimosa), their breakfast is pretty slammin'! What I'm really trying to say here is...there was very little here that we didn't enjoy. Although I immediately regretted not ordering the French toast as my initial instincts instructed me to do. I swear I shall never ignore my stomach's inner most desires again. I did the whole two eggs with bacon n' such like I usually do. It's because I didn't quite feel adventurous enough to try the corned beef hash. Maybe one day I will. For now though.. The eggs were cooked brilliantly, bacon was crispy just like requested, the homefries were decent, aaaaand the toast...could have used more butter. Or....any butter at all. See, this is why I wish I had gotten the French toast in its stead. Because wifey got some and it was excellent. Thing is, I never bothered to sample hers because she ordered banana flavored French toast (yeah, that's a thing). Since I'm not a tennis player and can't stand the taste of bananas, I obviously passed on this option. But yeah...everything food wise was at LEAST an 8 out of 10. I'm sure the toast would have been better once it was properly buttered. Still, most breakfast restaurants continue to screw this up and I have no idea why. Perhaps I was just really spoiled as a kid because growing up, this was never a problem. One last thing I'd like to highlight was the near-flawless service we received by this lady who's name escapes me at the moment (sorry I suck so hard). Even though she was clearly earning "facehole sustenance money" for two, she damn sure did not let that slow her down. In fact, I'd wager to say she was likely moving the fastest out of all waitresses serving that day. We felt truly lucky to have her. Sufficed to say we'll be back. I mean, they're even located near a nice lunch spot which incidentally serves freshly made ice cream, so....bonus points for having an awesome location. Tucker's is worth 4 classic breakfast plates with (regular) French toast out of 5.

It seems like a lot of opinions about this place range from the heights of "excellent" to "worst…read moredining experience ever". It's a fascinatingly intriguing tale, to say the least. I guess, depending on who you are, you could land on either side of the spectrum. At the risk of stating so in presumed ambivalence, my assessment of this newfound breakfast diner ranges somewhere in the middle. This is mostly due to service being pretty stellar, whilst the food was....alright. We gotta get into it. Upfront, it's worth mentioning that after placing our food orders, the meals were out in less than 10 minutes. I was honestly surprised! And whilst this is most certainly a win, it couldn't make up for some of the faux pas in execution. So, I get the hash n' eggs (like I do in most places), along with some homefries and an English muffin. The hash was delicious (and canned, if that matters to anyone) and the eggs were fresh and tasty. The English muffin was actually grilled, which is interesting...since they never really asked me whether I wanted it toasted or grilled. Doesn't matter much to me though. I'll take it either way. The homefries, believe it or not, are what bring this dish down a bit. In fact, it seems both of their breakfast potato sides have problems. I'll try to explain.. The homefries somehow came out in multiple forms of "doneness", depending on which pieces I attempted to eat. This basically meant that they ranged from decently tender on the inside with a seared outside, to slightly overcooked, to cooked to f*@k. Some pieces even resembled that of charcoal. Wifey got hashbrowns with her quiche of the day (which was apparently under seasoned) and those were totally undercooked. In short, one side was overcooked whilst the other was undercooked. Perhaps the cooks operate on the BPD scale of quality assurance. Perennial plant problems aside, I mostly enjoyed my meal. My other two guests thought their quiches could have been better seasoned. The coffee was decent. At least it wasn't a light breakfast blend. Couple other things that bugged me about this place were the dining area being so cramp, walking to the restroom is like a mouse running through the maze for cheese; not to mention the parking situation outside. It's....IMHO, pretty stupid. Okay. Picture this. You got two entrances. Either of these could be the "front" one, depending on your perspective. There's also two entrance points to the parking lot. Only....no. Turns out...the one closest to the true front entrance of the diner has a "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it. Which means if you enter the parking lot the way you're supposed to, you end up pulling up to the side entrance - which you can't use anyway. And then there's the annoying practice of folks being allowed to parallel park in front of the diner, inevitably creating a bottle neck effect for any cars deciding to pass through there. The only other parking options available are along that side entrance I mentioned earlier, or behind the building which....feels wrong to me somehow. I can't quite explain why though. Overall, they weren't bad. But I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return. Which kinda sucks, considering they aren't very far from where I live. At least their prices aren't too bad. I'm giving The DW Diner 3 savory plates of hash n' eggs out of 5.

I notified the waitress immediately, who brought the plate over to the owner. He couldn't care less! He just went back to work in the kitchen. Didn't come over to apologize! Either someone took a bite out of it in the kitchen, or they are recycling food off of plates they've already served to other customers!! either way, completely unacceptable and disgusting. Not to mention, I was sick to my stomach a half hour later. I'll definitely be calling the department of health in Concord Monday morning. Do yourself a favor, and do not eat here.

** Patty Melt review **…read more Roadside eatery in a tiny strip plaza. Outside, it looks nothing like the classic New England train car style or New Jersey stainless steel style diners, but inside are countertop with stools, booths around the outskirts, and the hustle and bustle giving it a strong diner vibe. Like my visits to many diners, I was here on my patty melt quest. -- Patty Melt: First, the composition is faithful to the prototype, with a quarter pound patty (no smashburger nonsense), rye bread (no sourdough decoy), buttered (not merely toasted), and with the classic Swiss cheese, sautéed onions and thousand Island dressing. No fusion, no reinvention, no omissions, no hipster jive. Good crispness and butteriness on the bread, great melt on the cheese, and noticeable softness to the onions. Most importantly, the beef could be ordered medium rare, and they executed. More softness, with gushing juices and a really pleasing bite. I suspect nothing special to start with, but they cooked it to near perfection. Only quibble would be not much crust to the patty, but not as critical on a patty melt. -- Fries: I could have had tots or a few other options, but fries were fine. Almost certainly frozen, but the skin-on variety and not the dreaded coated kind. Nothing special, but good enough. Service was adequate. It seemed like everyone was prepping to get everything gathered and cleaned for closing about 90 minutes earlier than necessary, but that didn't detract. If anything, it shows initiative and hustle. Not much data to go on, but an easy 4 for me.

Lots of nooks and crannies, including an L-shaped bar, before you get to the main dining room. VERY lengthy menu comprising at least four Asian cuisines. My wife and I tried 10 dishes over two visits. -- Scallion Pancake: My wife chose this. Not exactly blazing new ground, but light, crispy, more scallion flavor than most, and ginger dipping sauce darker, thicker, clingier, and tastier than most. Above average. -- Cold Noodles with Sesame Sauce: Gotta mix this all up to get all the flavors distributed. Thin noodles, softer than most, and mildly spicy sauce saucier than most-- meaning it somewhat overpowered the noodles textually. Taste wise, no problem. Average. -- Singapore Chow Mei Fun Noodles with Tofu: This is my wife's dish and her domain. She's pretty particular about how she wants her noodles, and she was pleased that this rendition was neither too wet nor too sweet. Thumbs up from her. I tried a small bite and agreed. Above average. -- Biang Biang Noodles with Spicy Cumin Lamb: My favorite dish of the day and a pleasure both taste wise and texture wise. Long, thick noodles that felt homemade, not too sticky, not impossible to break, and nice wiggle. Not particularly spicy in the hot pepper way, but very spicy in the flavor way, with the cumin, as well as complementary vegetables. I've had this dish in a bunch of places and I gotta say this was the freshest I've ever had the lamb. Just enough liquid to make it work while letting the noodles and lamb shine. Well above average. Some heat would bring it over the top. -- Fish Filets in Sichuan Hot Chili Broth: Standard dish, solid execution with no surprises. Very tender fish, perhaps a little fuller if cut than most and a bit less spicy than most. Average, but not a bad average-- this dish is usually good and so was this rendition. -- Honey Spareribs: The second visit started with a dud here, as the ribs looked and felt very old. Honey glaze with odd cinnamony notes couldn't hide the dryness. I sent them back and they took them off the bill. -- Cucumber and Fungus in Vinegar Sauce: A cool, refreshing dish with the cukes well marinated but still crisp to the bite. -- Mini Pork Buns: Small (grape-sized) balls of pork surrounded by bao dough, steamed and lightly fried, served with a sweetened soy sauce. Not bad, not remarkable. --Sautéed String Beans: Thin, moist, cooked through but still retaining snap, slightly blackened in a good way, and accented with salty fermented bits. Very nicely done, though not spicy as billed. -- Ma Po Tofu without Meat: Soft, silky tofu and a smooth, mildly spicy sauce without any bits and pieces to add interest. Good flavor but a little one-note. Good service. You don't often get full service, never mind good service, at a hand pulled noodle joint, so this was a pleasant surprise. The interpretations of classic dishes were different enough that I can see some naysayers, but I mostly liked mostly everything, with the first visit very strong and the second a bit of a drop off. Very good value, as the volume of servings was higher than most and the pricing was lower than most. HUGE menu. Some might say too huge, too ambitious, and I agree. But as long as the execution is there in a few key dishes-- like the biang biang noodles I'll mostly stick to--I'm happy. My wife likes it, so there'll be more visits.
