We'd been hearing wonderful things about Tulip Cafe for years and just never seemed to be nearby when they were open. The stars finally aligned, though, and I'm so glad they did! We stopped in for dessert and coffee but will definitely be back to try more of the menu. They have already achieved the impossible- Turkish delight that is actually both delightful and Turkish! Finally got to visit Tulip Cafe in person! I had only tried some of their pastries at the farmers market so I was excited to try it. They have a small shop tucked in a plaza, and their display of desserts and Turkish delight was impressive! The honey cake was my favorite, although the layer of honey fell off on our journey home It was slightly sweet with a layers of cake, cream, and grainy powder that was really good. The hazelnut baklava was tasty as well, and it was covered with a sweet cream which made it wetter than Greek baklava. Since they specialize in Turkish desserts and drinks, we also tried the Turkish coffee. It's served hot and was brewed very quickly. Since Turkish coffee is prepared without filtering, we were surprised by the layer of grounds on the bottom, but it's part of the taste and uniqueness of the coffee. It is on the stronger side so it paired well with the sweet dessert. I would like to try the coffee with some cream or milk next time. There is very limited places to sit since the shop is small, but it was empty when we were there so the service was quick. read more

Simply wonderful... Tulip Cafe is one of my new favorite places. Delicious food, excellent Turkish Coffee, great Baklava and Turkish Delight, a lovely dining room, and welcoming friendly people. I've been to Turkey twice, and love the people, the food and chewy coffee. We have a few excellent Turkish lunch and dinner restaurants in Columbus - especially Cafe Istanbul in Dublin - but nowhere for breakfast, coffee, and pastries. I had them on my list awhile but kept forgetting to stop by. I finally did late morning. Not busy! I ordered the Turkish bagel and the blue sky latte which has vanilla and lavender. The bagel was fantastic! I'm not a huge feta person since it's sometimes overpowering but they didn't put too much in it. The bread was soft and almost croissant-like but def tasted freshly made. They do not have dairy free alternatives so I took one for the team and still went for the iced latte. Strong espresso which is how I like it! No stomach pain afterwards either. Just west if the hayden/sawmill intersection is Hayden Run Plazza (on Hayden Rd is an amazing Turkish bakery/coffee shop that is locally owned by two women! Homemade cookies, cakes, flatbreads, turkish bagels along with a few sandwiches and hand held rolls (called Lahmacon) The coffee is great. Its the same as the espresso air coffee in Westerville (same family) Highly recommend! I like to support local small shops and womem owned places. The two families that own this are just so nice, too! Service is excellent. It makes it easy to want to be a regular here as it just is so very good. Its as simple as that. Come try it! read more

Just finished breakfast and boy, was it delicious! We both did the all you can eat breakfast bar. My husband and I split one tostone with shredded beef and an order of sweet plaintains with navo sauce and cheese. Both were delicious but I really don't think the plantains needed the cheese. We both had an arepa. My husband had shredded beef, grilled cheese, Venezuelan scrambled eggs, and cilantro sauce. He loved it and ate every bite. Mine had pork, grilled cheese, Venezuelan scrambled eggs, grilled cheese and cilantro sauce. I could not finish it, but I wanted to. The service was great. I almost under tipped because I saw on some reviews that there was an 28% tip added, so I added just a bit to the credit card total , but not much. Sadly, we were just stopping by to get something quick before we headed out to lunch, so we were only able to try the pistachio baklava, but I would definitely come back to try the other food and desserts! No service. Had to literally walk up to the counter to get water for my table and the only other people there. Told them I need this meal to be gluten free a month ahead of time. And 2 hours before they agree that the plain rice I asked for instead of rice pilaf would work for them. They say they don't make gluten free bread. But will buy some. Yet still serve the glutenous bread and I have to wait for the bread I brought to be served.( I thought I was helping us both by bringing my own bread.) I tried one of their savory pastries from a farmers market stand recently. It had spinach and I believe cheese inside. The staff was kind and gave me instructions on how to reheat it at home. It was pretty tasty but needed a little sauce or seasoning in my opinion. The dough was well-made and I enjoyed it. The table full of other goodies looked amazing. I am looking forward to visiting Tulip Cafe in person at some point soon so I can taste more of what they have to offer. If I visit the market again, I'll definitely be stopping over to try something else they have in stock. read more

It's very close to where I've lived for 40 years; I just never noticed the little center it's in that is perpendicular to Hayden. Well, it was a glorious discovery. I already knew I liked Turkish flavors but this confirmed it. My wife had a delicious flat bread but I had Manti. You have to try it; it was one of the most robust dishes I ever had. It's mainly carry-out and catering. They need to fix that; there's room for a few tables. Here's what was fun: we saw several women back and forth and talking and laughing in the kitchen. You knew that they are women who are proud of their skills and are there to serve customers with the same pride they would when they feed their families and friends. What a perfect bakery! We were craving a Turkish coffee and Yelp pointed us here, and I'm so grateful for the discovery. Beautiful little space run by the warmest couple. We were greeted kindly and felt at home here. They make perfect Turkish coffees and have the best baked goods. I was happy to learn they have a menu with meals, too, not just bakery items. We got coffees and pistachio baklava and a meat-filled pastry to take home. Every single thing was perfect. Coffee was hot and strong, loved little bites of Turkish delight candies. Pistachio is my favorite and their baklava was chewy and melted in your mouth, almost like a perfect macaron. Absolute perfection! The owner had me try the newest treat out of Turkey -- a pistachio-rimmed coffee. That was so cool! I would definitely try it again if he adds it to the menu! Tulip Cafe started as a pop-up bakery selling their items at Worthington Farmers Market. Over the many years, as their wonderful baked goods spread by word of mouth, and the Turkish community continuing to grow, they were able to start this brick and mortar bakery along side their market events around town. Back in a rather nondescript strip plaza, the space is small. Two two-top tables inside. The lovely Turkish American gal working was a delight to converse with. I was surprised to see I could order off Tulip's (what seemed to be) lunch menu, so I tried the Lahmacun and warm chai. My chai was great - nothing special, but they use Oregon chai, which is sooo much better than Tao chai, so happy camper. Loved the Lahmacun, a Turkish "taco" of sorts, with minced beef and spices spread on a thin (crepe-like) handmade Turkish to flour tortilla. You unfold it, add the lettuce, onions, tomatoes on the inside, squeeze fresh lemon inside, roll it up, and eat in delight! I got a small pistachio baklava and their rice pudding to go. Turkish baklava is made with simple syrup, so it much lighter and all round better, imo. I'm very glad I finally made the trek to check out Tulip Cafe. read more

I have been meaning to stop here after reading all the glowing reviews about the food. The space is small, but charming and very clean. The woman who helped me was just lovely and made recommendations of things to try, as there were menu items I was unfamiliar with. I ended up trying the Turkish coffee, pistachio baklava, and the flaky spinach borek. The coffee was hot and flavorful (just like I like it). The spinach borek had the flakiest dough and plenty of spinach. The baklava was incredible. It was not overly sweet and you could really taste the nuttiness of the pistachios. We have passed the Tulip Cafe booth at the farmers market several times and realized it was about time we tried some goodies! The large portion of golden baklava was what initially caught our attention, and then I noticed the Nutella cookies and we knew we needed some of those too! I have seen this shop many times when getting my nails done a few doors down. I decided I wanted to give it a try and placed a to-go order to pick it up when I was finished. When I arrived I was surprised that my food was being warmed up, usually places will just give you items as they are in the case but it was such a nice touch. I ordered the potato borek, spinach borek, simit, and a piece of pistachio baklava. The food was so good, everything was so delicious and delicate. Super adorable Turkish cafe that is tucked away in the corner of the strip mall. Dropped in on an early weekend morning looking for some caffeine and treats and was pleasantly surprised to see an amazing selection of yums. Everything in the picture was amazing: got a pistachio baklava, rose Turkish delight, and a potato borek (sadly not pictured because it was safely tucked in my stomach by then). Huge fan of the borek - it was nicely spiced and flakey - they even toast it up for you so it's ~extra~ flakey goodness. I'm also usually not a huge Turkish delight person but I was tempted by the beautiful display and the rose flavor was delish and not super sweet, going perfectly with the coffee. We went here for Mother's Day, and it was DELICIOUS! We ordered a few different dishes for our family to share. We were able to eat outside since the weather was beautiful. The inside has two 2 person tables. Everything was wonderful--even our kids loved the dishes. We had 3 different baklavas for dessert. My favorite was the pistachio baklava. Services was THE BEST I've had in Columbus in a long time. We also got Turkish tea--which she kindly split between when we had our savory and sweet dishes. The gentleman who sold us these breads at Tulip Cafe's stand at the Clintonville Farmers Market gave us the suggestion as to how to use his breads. He loved our reaction to his ideas. I only wish he could see the reaction on our faces when we got home and made the sandwiches! The bread was filled with delicious cheeses and when toasted in the oven the became crisp on the outside while maintaining a fluffy bread on the inside! Hidden gem! I'm a sucker for ethnic food and was so excited to try manti and other traditional dishes. Everything was as good as the pictures which drew me in.
