Grilled Chicken Caesar salad to-go, Gluten Free (no croutons)

Best grilled chicken Caesar salad in West Berlin!! I come here for lunch at least once a week and am never disappointed, Food is delicious, large portion size and a great price. I couldn't ask for anything more! I highly recommend stopping by to give it a try

Their pizza is very tasty. We ordered it with black olives, green peppers, and onions. This may seem odd to say, but we like the way they sliced the onions and olives. It really does make a difference. The crust was delicious. Soft with the perfect crunch. And for dessert - Tiramisu and Dark Side of the Moon. Delicious. Both were moist and tasted fresh. My only criticism, and this is with every place that I review and that delivers - DO NOT PUT COLD FOOD ON TOP OF THE HOT FOOD ITEMS. The desserts were put on the hot pizza so, they started to melt and not in a good way. Luckily, it was only a 7 minute drive. Not sure if it is the restaurant that does it or the delivery person, but more communication, and common sense, needs to be conducted. Again, I write this for all of the places that we have ordered from and that do this. Even when I pick up, my salad is sitting on top of the hot item. Who wants a warm salad lol

We started off with fresh bread, made in-house, and a bottle of wine from Saddlehill Winery. (They sell bottles from the winery up the road.) bread was nice and crispy. For appetizers we did the clams casino and calamari. The clams casino were loaded with fresh red peppers and bacon and had a great smoky taste. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had! They don't use batter for the squid and it was still so crunchy and flavorful. The marinara was exquisite. For entrees I had the chicken francese which was battered well, and had a tangy lemony taste. Served with snap peas and mashed potatoes. My friend had the chicken parm and the spaghetti it was served with, as simple as it looked, was phenomenal. The chicken parm was a classic and fantastic choice, served with a nice oozing amount of cheese. We shared the ravioli Di aragosta which was stuffed extremely well with lobster and crabmeat and topped with carrot sauce! The carrot sauce was better than I expected, very creamy and light. Definitely a unique time to try. We ended the night with housemade tiramisu and Italian rum cake. Both desserts were so moist and tasty, not overly sweet, and light which made a perfect post-dinner treat. We also sampled their housemade limoncello which was so smooth and lemony! Safe to say I was blown away with the food. Everything is prepared fresh here and you can taste the passion in the dining. The owners are husband and wife, and Mr. Fieni does the cooking while Mrs. Fieni does the baking. What a perfect team! I love the simple collaborative approach they have. To top it off, the service was incredible. We had people checking in with us all night and our server was so friendly and personable. The dining room is simple - that would draw attention away from the outstanding food and service. This is truly an Italian restaurant done right! I'll definitely be back!

I do not eat seafood and was confused by the fishy smell and presence of meat. Luckily it was a simple cross-table mixup. Furthermore, the mushroom gnocchi was horrible. It was made with pure whipping cream, which is probably a valid Italian approach, but it had to have been 100g of fat, and it tasted like warm thick milk, with no flavor and minimal mushrooms. I felt sick to my stomach the rest of the night. The restaurant was packed and tastefully decorated. They have a great signature cocktail list but I couldn't hear myself or anyone at my table. Average decibel level was 85 through the course of our 90 minute stay. My ears felt raw once I got outside. Lastly, it's a mandatory (and complimentary) valet for parking. Just be prepared. If you like Italian, may be worth a shot. Folks were pleased with oysters and mashed potatoes at my table, but I have no desire to come back.

We had reservations at 6:45pm on a Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and were seated in the corner of a little off-shoot room with only a handful of other tables. It did not feel like we were out to eat at an upscale restaurant. It took a long time for our server to greet us and we placed our drink order. Wine and cocktails. Our server came back a long while after and informed us the bar was backed up and she was still waiting on our drinks. After another very long wait, our drinks were delivered to our table. Everyone enjoyed their wine and my Manhattan was very good. Slow service was a very common theme all night long. It seemed like 30+ minutes between table visits from our server. Between four of us, we ordered two Caesar Salads to split. We also had a Shrimp & Clam Fra Diavolo, Gnocchi, and a Homemade Tagliatelle dinner special with clams, shrimp, and crab served with white wine sauce and arugula pesto. Again it took a very long time for our salads to come out and ages for our entrees. By the time our food was brought to our table I think we were all ready to leave. I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed their meal but I cannot justify paying the prices Il Villaggio charges with the service provided. I also thought the portions were extremely small which again, I wouldn't have minded if the service was adequate. We did voice our concerns, which I dislike doing, but that's how bad it was. Our server apologized and advised us that they weren't expecting the restaurant to be as busy as it was. Not sure if that was an excuse or if they were actually short-staffed. They did offer complimentary Limoncello and desserts for the table. The Limoncello was probably my favorite part of the night. My wife and I split cannolis and there was also a Key Lime Pie ordered. The dessert tasted good, but after spending 3+ hours in the restaurant, we wouldn't have ordered dessert if it wasn't offered. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. I don't think I've ever waited so long for food and drinks at a restaurant in my life. The only way I'd consider coming back is if our plans were to have cocktails and appetizers at the bar. This was difficult for me to write. I don't enjoy leaving poor reviews. This was not worth our time or money.

The location is easily accessible with plenty of parking (although not always right near the entrance unless you opt for valet service). And the food is pretty good too, seasoned just right, served at the right temperature. I would say this place leans more on the fancier side of Italian restaurants in the area with prices that aren't outrageous but are a tad higher than your typical Italian chains. But this isn't your typical chain. This is a welcoming, one-of-a-kind establishment with quality cooks and equally friendly servers. However, the one thing that really shines is the decor. Both indoors and outdoors. Especially on the back patio (my favorite spot). But be warned, there were mosquitoes that bit my date twice while we were out there on a warm summer evening in August. **PRO TIP: Pay with cash to avoid the mandatory 3% credit card fees added to your bill at the end.
