Drinks are cheap and they have good specials. Servers are awesome, super nice and attentive. That said, have been here twice. The last time was my first food order. I can only speak about what I ordered and only that. Had the fish fry. It was 100%, completely AWFUL! Haven't lived in the area long, but have learned that fish frys are big. Everyone has one. I hesitate ordering because I don't want a Captain D's or Long John Silvers, where everything tastes the same. Or, the breading is generic/bland. I recently tried a few in the area and they were amazing - not at all like that. I ordered here and it was atrocious. Disgusting. Good news is they have all you can eat salad bar and all you can eat fish - which, I don't know why you'd want more. They do let you order fish of the same price and allow you to order it fried or baked and mix it up. The salad bar is generic - iceberg lettuce, fake bacon bits, etc. But excellent pasta salads. My first order was fried perch. It came out entirely too overcooked. Breading was very generic/bland and the fish itself was bland and not much to it. Breading was just shy of burnt. All I tasted was hard/overcooked generic breading. Side was smashed garlic potatoes - it was a small scoop full and it was cold. Since the fried fish wasn't good I ordered baked cod. They delivered two tiny pieces of fish - one fried, one baked. Fried (wrong order) was much of the same - bland. Baked piece was cold. I get the feeling that the fish is made ahead of time and it sits out until it's ordered. so if you arrive later in the evening, maybe it's more cold....? Not sure. Regardless, it was disgusting. Cold, bland fish - not good. Go for the drinks - maybe you'll find something on the menu that is good, but avoid fish. **Also, I just realized they charge you extra for not paying cash apparently. They don't bother telling you that ahead of time. I avoid places like this - don't charge me more money to pay your fees/bills unless you're going to pay for my gas to get there. read more

Tully's is and "is what it is" sort of joint and doesn't try to be anything but that. I was recently there for a Friday night fish fry and it was fine. My companion had the shrimp and I had the perch. It was exactly what one would expect in a reasonably priced Wisconsin Friday night fish fry. The perch and cod is all you can eat... and a Salad bar was included. Nothing fancy but solid. The drinks are reasonable and the service good. read more

We went to Tully's during the Dane County COVID-19 mandate which requires masks be worn in restaurants and 6' social distancing. There was a sign on the entrance explaining this. However, it was not enforced in the restaurant. We left--the Delta variant is rampant at this time! So the mandate is needed and needs to be followed for health safety for all of us. After all this is a pandemic and we are all affected. We need to be acting responsibly all together. read more

Tully's might have the best food in Madison, but I'll never know. About a year ago my wife and I went to Tully's for dinner and waited... and waited... and waited some more. It wasn't busy and we infrequently saw a server going to other tables, but couldn't seem to interest her in coming to our table. After a half hourr, we walked out. Tonight, same exact thing. Maybe four booths were occupied and we did see a server, but she ignored us. After fifteen or twenty minutes, she finally came over and took our drink order. And we waited... and waited..... another fifteen minutes went by and we walked out--and will never return. Any restaurant with such lousy service doesn't belong in business! read more

We were a group of 5 women and when we walked in, no one greeted or seated us. We seated ourselves and after about 5 minutes a guy came up to our table, we thought he was there to take our order. Turns out he was a customer, a VERY DRUNK customer. He was friendly but was right in our faces. It appeared he was not going to leave us alone so we opted to leave. No one ever came to our table to tell him to leave or spoke to us as we were leaving. But, turns out it was a good thing, we found a very nice place not far and had a nice meal. I definitely recommend it! The black bean burger is phenomenal, as well as the sweet potato fries. The salad bar on Friday nights is an all you can eat, and its the largest I have ever seen. Only giving a single star because I can't leave less. Ordered the prime rib tonight. It was horrible. When mentioned to the server she did nothing. No manager was seen our entire visit. Very disappointing. I can't believe we paid $19.00 for a slab of fat and very poor service. It wasn't even cooked to the correct temp. I definitely would not recommend this place. The overall experience wasn't the best.. The service was AWFUL. She did not look like she was having a great time.. I got here after my friends and I wanted to order but every time I wanted to get her attention she looked like she pretended to not even notice us. There were numerous occasions where we had to constantly remind our waitress that we needed something like more napkins, hot sauce, more drinks.. She just didn't seem to care.. I'm not one to typically give people a hard time but everything was just very slow when it came to service. We ordered simple appetizers and it took like 45 minutes for it to come out. Our meal and drinks should have only taken half an hour 45 minutes total tops but this experience was a prolonged 3 hours.. We each only had maybe one drink and one entree because we didn't want to order and have to wait anymore. I was here recently for a girls birthday party and had I known what I was getting myself into I would have opted out all together! This place is for lack of a better word, simply the worst! I ordered the fish basket, which for Wisconsin should never be bad. I was wrong. I was very wrong! It was advertised as a fish fry when it should have been advertised a Van de Kamp's frozen dinner. I mean I could have gone to the freezer section of my neighborhood grocery store and gotten a better meal. Horrible service, inedible food, tremendous swivel factor. But, my drink was fine. Their advertised drink specials are good, but most concentrated on shots and low-end liquors (think Smirnoff for $3). The "service" at the bar was hard to come by, although there were at least two bartenders working. I asked for a minute with the menu, and spent the next 20 minutes trying to flag down a bartender to take my food order. Ordered the shrimp special which was not very special at all. Although there were 6 grilled shrimp that were actually pretty good, the rest of the plate was a mess of flavorless, watery rice pilaf and a virtual stalk of broccoli, steamed but otherwise unadorned. At $12.99 it was definitely not a good value. Plus, it took for-ev-er to arrive. The gentleman next to me ordered the meatloaf special, and his cafeteria-style serving arrived in about 30 seconds. That didn't make me very happy for him, however, as it looked equally disgusting. The problem with a great "local" joint is that they treat newcomers like poop. When we first walked in it was unclear where to go as there wasn't any greeting, but we made our way up to the bar which was almost full. The look we got from the bartender made us feel out of place right away. Yes, this was our first time there, but that's not a bad thing right? Eventually we got some drinks and snacks. The drinks were fine, nothing special. The bartender ended up being nice, just a little awkward. I can't speak much about the food because all we ordered were basic appetizers. Eventually an off duty employee of this establishment who was clearly intoxicated starting getting into our space and saying he hasn't seen us around here before... which is correct we wanted to try someplace new, heard it had pool tables. He just kept insinuating how it wasn't right that we were there because he didn't know us... We will not revisit nor recommend it to anyone. We were spending money and trying to have a good night but instead were pushed our the door feeling terrible by the time we left. read more

Not totally sure why I continue to go here, and my friends asked themselves the same thing this past Sunday. The service here is always bad. Every bar has their regulars but the bartenders need to remember that there are other patrons. If the older, dark haired guy with glasses is working, just leave. Really, any of the bartenders will ignore you but he's the worst offender. Tullys does serve decent food and I heard their salad bar is good but that wasn't an option on Sunday. They have a separate area for dining along with a heated smoking patio, if you're into that. Drink prices are fair and they do have specials. Undoubtedly the worst meal I've had. Ordered the Ribeye off the house "special" list for $20. Upon sight, I wouldn't have paid more than $10. After digging in, I soon realized that this was one large piece of fat with a few hunks of semi-edible meat. I ordered it medium rare...the slab was about a half inch thick and half was medium well and the other half was raw. They get the 1 star because that actually takes talent. Mashed potatoes were definitely out of a box. Tried two different beers, both tasted like dish soap. Upon finishing the meal, I would have paid $0 for this, and will call them tomorrow to pay my hospital bill. I've never left a review before, this place was gross. They had good music. read more

We usually come here for friday fish fry. FISH is that triangle cod you can buy in store. I love the salad bar more than the fish. Sarurday we were looking for a place to eat. They have a passive prime rib my husband had. I only wanted a burger and the salad bar. The salad bar is $5 alone. I see the burgers are now without fries. If you wanted fries, its a dollar more. Their fries are shoe strings and not very good. Often under cooked. I noted burger was $8 alone. They dont offter discount on salad bar if you order with burger. So, $13 for burger and salad. PLUS a soda. My hunger was not that bad that I wanted to spend that much. I expressed that that was too much to order one trip salad bar with a burger. I told her to pass onto the owner, who was also there. He never came over to talk with me. I just sat there while my husband ate. Hillary, the waitress was busy talking to another couple About how her name has been ruined. Now I know why Fox News is always on the tube. I will not be returning there ever again. I know.most of the waitresses from Fridays, and they have been very friendly. I will be sticking closer to home where I can get a burger and a salad bar for under $10 and not have to listen to political opinions from Fox news junkies. To the owner, I say you dont know how to run a business when you let a repeat customer sit disatisfied without at least making an effort to talk to them. I've made a goal this year to work my way down Monona Dr/Attwood/Willy Str eating at every place along the way. Tullys 2 was pretty Meh. I went on a weeknight at sat at the bar. The clientele here are definitely older, fox news on the tvs, and there was a decent swivel factor on the night I visited. There was a grampa with a 10 yr old or so grandkid sitting at the corner of the bar. Ah, Wisconsin and the practice of taking your kids with you to bars for drinks. They had decent happy hour specials for rail drinks and mass market beers. After a bit, I ordered dinner of a chicken cordon bleu sandwich and fries. They had some special parmesean herb fries that I asked to get instead of the regular ones because that sounded a bit more exciting. They were not exciting. More like they shook the jar of Kraft parm over the fries. The sandwich was alright. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about either and a tad bit dry. It took me a bit to flag one of the two bartenders down to get a side of sauce for the sandwich. I thought their prices were similar to if I'd ordered a meal from Culvers. I don't see myself ever wanting to come back for dinner. There is also a lot of booths and stuff for dining and several pool tables. Smokers may like this place because they seem to have an okay outdoor smoking area with tvs out ther and some protection from the elements. read more
