Takeout: Tadka Dal, Aloo Baingan, Aloo Paratha, Curry
    Ashley R.

Absolutely delicious. We got takeout: * tofu curry (hot) * veggie pakora * aloo paratha * tadka dal (cobra hot) * aloo baingan (hot) The cobra hot (level above "Indian hot") was indeed hot and I had some sweat and tears by the end of my bowl. Generous portions (especially of rice). I bet the pakora are better when fresh instead of takeout but they were still good. They had MANY clearly marked vegan options which was very helpful. The food was ready quickly after ordering. It looks like a nice place for a date too. In a nice walkable area of Carytown too.

Our favorite Indian food spot in Richmond! --------------------------------- Food: we were impressed by the quality of the food that was also well-priced, our favorite thing to get here are the tandoori dishes which come out on a hot cast iron skillet; you can tell it's freshly made. I have not had great experiences with meat/fish dishes at Indian restaurants however the meat and fish (salmon/shrimp) here was very well done Recommendations: tandoori combo, salmon/shrimp tandoori Affordability: well priced, large portions Ambiance: warm inviting interior Service: attentive, good, complimentary appetizers to start Good for: casual or fancy dinners, group events/celebrations

    Love the packaging!

This is my go-to restaurant in RVA for Indian food. I usually opt for their chicken tikka masala but also love everything I take a chance on as well. Parking is challenging but they offer delivery which I usually take advantage of. Either way, online ordering is always seamless. Unfortunately, in my experience, they tend to forget items more often than not, but it's always taken care of very professionally. It's just inconvenient since I was unable to drive this particular night and had to get someone else to go pick up my missing item, but the food is good enough to offer a little extra forgiveness.

If you're looking for an authentic Indian restaurant, this is the spot to go! It is super cute inside with elegant decor, and the food is outstanding! They give you poppadom as a little appetizer. Their cocktails are delicious. I got the Alfonso, which is a mango coconut turmeric cocktail. I swapped gin for rum and it was perfection. My friend got a lychee martini which was also good. The food is the true highlight of the place. Every single meal was outstanding. I am Indian and haven't had this good of Indian cuisine in a while! The Konkani was extremely tasty. I got medium-to-hot spice level and it was the perfect spice level. If you like spice, go for the hot, though. I tried all of my friends' dishes too and everything was truly incredible. I recommend getting the tandoori, as it comes with a side of curry too. Special thanks to our server Ali! We had a great time and ate so well! The portions were perfect, leaving us full at the end. There was also no wait, even on a Friday night. The place was decently full but they still had space.

We visited Tulsi for our Valentine's Day Dinner and were seated right away despite showing up 10 min prior to our reservation time. That was lovely! We were fully prepared to wait. The service was okay. Our waiter was precise and checked on us every so often. Though not rude, he was particularly unfriendly, which was a little uncomfortable. The food was delicious! Fantastic portions and amazing flavor. Even the mild dishes had a lovely level of spice to them! I just wish my butter chicken had come with more of their amazing sauce, but I loved the amount of protein I got. The garlic naan was amazing and it was the perfect amount for our meal! All in all, it was a good dining experience. Not sure I'd visit again anytime soon, but I would recommend to others!

My favorite Indian restaurant just got a renovation and let me tell you, it is so much cuter now! I'm a regular at Tulsi and here's why. Tulsi is in the heart of Cary town and it offers an upscale experience to enjoy Indian cuisine. My recent visit I was greeted by the incredibly polite and friendly staff. I ordered the goat curry, the mango curry and butter chicken. All of these were phenomenal. Spice was on point and exceptional. The flavors were bursting. The portions were so generous. Pricing is also at a good price point for the portions you get. Honestly, this is the best indian restaurant in RVA.

The gorgeous interior drew me and the bf into this place and we have no regrets. the inside is dark and romantic, and the food was delicious. i will advise however that you pick the level BELOW what you think you can handle with spice, because we got "medium to hot" which was level 3/6 and we were struggling man besides that everything was so good and the service was great.

I normally don't like to go to Indian restaurants cu I feel like I am a better cook LOL. But glad my cousin decided for us - we ordered appetizers and drinks. And OMG!!! This place did not disappoint!!! Samosa chaat Paapri chaat Paneer tikka Lychee Martinis The place was packed! Definitely need to go back!!

The food was fantastic, and the service was just as impressive. I tried a few things for the first time, and nothing disappointed. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was full of flavor, and started with the house salad, a bit spicy, but really good. I also ordered a margarita, which was strong but still very enjoyable. The staff were attentive and welcoming throughout the entire visit. Highly recommend!

    Papadam

Papadam: this is complimentary! nice and crispy and the chutneys accompanying it were yummy Chili Paneer: the paneer was slightly fluffy and not too dense, the sauce was on the sweeter side and ketchupy Garlic Naan: always delicious and a classic Chicken Masala (mild): curry was very flavorful, thick and creamy Service: they are attentive and polite and come to check in once in a while. the inside is very pretty

This is one of my favorite places in Richmond to get Indian food! The employees are always so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm! The food is out of this world, I would recommend going with multiple people and getting multiple entrées to split, because everything is too good on the menu to just pick one!

New Fav!!! When you first walk in, you're treated to beautiful decor and a lovely waitstaff. We sat at a booth by the windows, which was great for people watching. We are also both vegan and we really appreciated that the menu clearly labels what can and can't be made vegan (lots of options btw!). We went with the Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Mango Curry, and the Roti (all vegan ofc). Absolutely delicious, the aloo gobi was perfectly spiced and salted, the mango curry was a great blend of sweetness and twang, and the roti was just delicious. Honestly, probably our new favorite restaurant in the area - definitely recommend!!

TLDR; food was great, portions were solid, service was excellent! Service - I took my 11 month old for dinner just before 6. The restaurant wasn't busy. Cute, quiet, and HUGE windows that gave us plenty to look at outside. I was nervous about braving dinner out, alone, with a baby but the waiters were all SO KIND and helpful. My waiter was patient as I decided what to order and gave excellent recommendations. Food - what first stood out to me is the menu. FINALLY an Indian restaurant that describes the flavor profile of each dish so that I wasn't googling every option or taking an absolute shot in the dark. So helpful! I also saw way more varieties of naan than I have at other restaurants. Chili naan, stuffed naan - I can't wait to go back and try them all! I ordered the tandoori chicken and lamb korma (both at the recommendation of my waiter) with a side of garlic naan. Everything was excellent! I ordered "medium" heat with the intention of sharing with my 11 month old but it was too spicy for her and a bit spicy for me. I was surprised! I told my waiter and he offered to bring out a plain masala for her which was so kind and helpful as I was prepared to order a new meal. Lamb Korma - had a nutty, earthy flavor. I actually didn't like it at first but it grew on me throughout my meal. I enjoyed the lamb and will probably get that again but I'm not sure about the korma. Tandoori Chicken - this was a first for me and I'm so glad the waiter recommended it after listening to what I was considering! I got several whole pieces of chicken on top of a bed of vegetables (peppers and onions mostly along with a few pieces of broccoli). This meal came out on a hot cast iron (like fajitas). The sauce comes on the side. I got Tikka Masala which was rich and delicious. I really enjoyed the few pieces of broccoli I had so I might consider trying a vegetarian option next time. Garlic naan - this was the ONE disappointment and probably why I wouldn't give 5 stars. For $4, one big piece of naan cut in half is not enough... it's also less than what I'm accustom to at other places. Flavor was delicious but they should double the portion.

I had only planned on spending $60 or so but ended up spending $140 including a great tip for my waiter. I got the Fried Chicken Banh Mi, Dan Dan Noodles, and my guest ordered the Brisket Pho, and Singapore noodles alongside a Mojito and their coconut ice cube drink (blanking on the name). I loved every bite of my food. The Daikon Radish was the highlight of the Banh Mi and I was in love with every bite. Visibly dancing and gleaming with joy while eating + the great music being played also helped. I didn't eat my sandwich until it got cold as I like to finish a dish before trying another. I started with the Dan Dan noodles and had to drink 3 of the liters of water by myself to finish my meal . I took my guest's peppers and my peppers and crushed them up into my Dan Dan plate with all the seeds that came with them. In addition I also used all the chili oil paste it came with as well. It was so damn great I enjoyed every second. My guest loved their pho and didn't stop eating it and ate half of their Singapore noodles before getting full and having to take it home. They absolutely loved their drinks and it was so fun to watch the bartender make the drinks. Two shakers in hand mixing the drinks and oh boy were they strong . We will definitely be back!!! Oh and they also had chopsticks for us to use and we ate our entire meal with them. I knew I was in for a whirlwind of flavor when the ethnicities of the cooks matched the restaurant and patrons of color from Pakistani, Black, Indian, Korean, Thai, and more were dining in . Only downsides for me personally were the Singapore noodles but it wasn't my dish. I tasted them and didn't think they were for me I usually prefer a different ratio of seasoning for my Singapore noodles. My guest whose favorite dish is Singapore noodles quite adored them. Though they did say the Singapore noodles I make at home are better they still crushed it and the next morning woke up and crushed the rest with a smile on the face . Only thing I didn't like was the pho but that's my personal taste getting in the way. I don't like fish based broths but my guest ate every single last dropped and loved it! I thought the spicy cauliflower was yummy. The cauliflower was tossed in a gochujang sauce with a light crunchy batter. My partner thought the cauliflower was a bit bland. The serving of the appetizer was quite large for two people, we couldn't finish it all. I ordered the curry laksa. I usually stray away from coconut based curries because they tend to be too sweet, but I enjoyed this curry. The base is creamy and balances well with the savory/tangy flavors, and the veggies are fresh. The server brought out chili crisp upon request. The kung pao tofu glaze was a bit on the sweeter side and not as good. The sweet glaze on fried tofu made it taste almost like a French toast. Overall, a decent asian fusion spot to stop by for lunch or dinner.
