Oh Tulum! We were excited to try this place disregarding the reviews. I ordered enchiladas they were bomb. However the service was not really the best. We had a spilled drink situation and used all our napkins, the workers looked at us a few times as they passed by and never offered to help or bring a towel for the floor until we asked. Also, I'm not sure if they were really wanting to provide a full Tulum experience but it was super hot in the restaurant no AC was on. Also the guacamole was nasty and when receiving tortillas with your order and they ask corn or something flour, our party asked for flour, and each person only got one tortilla. The food and drinks are really good here however there are a few things that take this place down a notch. During busy hours especially for Mother's Day, they really need a front desk reception area to intake customers. It gets really uncomfortable when you have a bunch of people standing in the entry way watching everyone seated and eating. Next thing is the people taking orders. Please double check and make sure you are taking the correct order as it's been twice now since we've been here and our orders have been brought to our table and something was incorrectly ordered. Prices are pretty hefty too so depending on what you order, a party of 4 can run you out the door close to $200! We were greeted in Spanish, I don't know if they understand English much because we pointed to the names on the items we wanted on the menu and asked for no jalapeños. Our item we asked for no jalapeños came with jalapeños. They only took some of the jalapeños off so it was a bit spicy for my liking. The crepes seemed like pancakes so they need to change the name on their menu items to pancakes instead It's nice inside, the decor is great but the lighting needs a bit of work because it doesn't pull the ambiance together. Seems like a spot for date night. I took my girls and were not really dressed up for this place that seems best to be dressed up for. We had to ask for boxes and then the check when I know I asked for it when we asked for the boxes. They were delicious, perfectly crafted and melted at every nibble. I definitely loved the vibe. Its a pretty large restaurant so it can hold a lot of people. The menu had some great options. Unique items not found at other local restaurants. The chips and the tortillas are made fresh. The steak tacos had a lot fo meat with delicious sides. Only concern was the meat wasnt hot. Not sure if it was pre-made or left out too long after made but the steak was room temp. Other than that the sides/toppings really gave it good flavor. So I'm thinking they probably cook it the day before and just leave it out overnight and just serve it like that which is a big no no! I really wanted to like this place more -- and honestly kept trying to give it a chance because it's so cute inside. The décor is beautiful with a fun, tropical vibe that makes you want to stay and hang out. The drinks were tasty, too. The menu, however, felt small and not very organized. I'd definitely recommend a little menu revamp to make it clearer and easier to navigate. Where I took off a star was the food -- it was a bit bland and came out just warm instead of hot. The second star came off for the service. I'm very patient with customer service because I know things get busy, but we had to ask for things multiple times, items were forgotten, and everything just took a long time. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the staff, and it was pretty noticeable. I know they're still new, so I'm hopeful they'll iron out the kinks. Checked out the new Tulum Mexican Kitchen in Manteca. We ordered the queso fundido and the "trio" sampler (menudo, pozole, and barbacoa), plus sides of rice and beans. Flavors were solid, but most dishes arrived warm rather than hot--which was disappointing, especially for the menudo and pozole that I prefer piping hot. The queso fundido was the exception; it came out sizzling with chorizo on top. Tasty, though I wish it were a cheese sauce instead of straight melted cheese--once it cooled, it set into a single chewy piece. The location is in a shopping center with a pretty unassuming entrance, and you walk right into the bar area, so finding a host was a bit confusing. Overall, I'd give it another try next time we're in the area. The seasoning is there; I'm hoping the kitchen serves everything hot on the next visit. read more

We arrived about 2.5 hours before closing time with barely anyone there so wait was not experienced here. Celebrating mine and 2 other family members. We received our cocktail drinks right away which were delicious along with our beer drinks. Ordered when everyone was ready. Food came out surprisingly at a perfect time less than 20 minutes. All our dishes tasted amazing so whichever chef's was working tonight 1/17/26 great job everything was cooked perfectly. Our waiters Sophia and Rodolpho were great hostess and made us feel comfortable and welcome and never rushed us to leave given we arrived pretty close to closing. 1 Star I really wanted to like this new spot, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. I started with a guava margarita made with their house tequila, and when I asked about upgrading to a better tequila, I was told it would be an extra $20 -- which is outrageous. I ordered the guacamole and chips, but the guacamole had zero flavor -- just mashed avocado with a few bits of cilantro and tomato. I asked for salsa, and they brought out two squeeze bottles: one was extremely hot and the other had no flavor at all. I even ordered a side of beans just to have something with some taste, but that didn't help much either. For two house margaritas, guacamole, and a side of beans, my total came to $56, which felt way overpriced for what I got. Sadly, I won't be coming back. I saw this new restaurant on Instagram and the video made it look great, so my husband and I decided to try the Manteca location this past Saturday. First off, it's on the older side of town -- no big deal -- but we had a hard time finding it since there was no visible sign out front. That probably should've been the first warning sign. We walked in through the bar area (not sure if that's the main entrance) and the doors were wide open. People at the bar just stared at us until a waitress finally came over and seated us. The place itself didn't look new at all. The menu was small and missing some basics like grilled chicken options. My husband ordered a lemonade and I got water -- his drink never arrived. It took quite a while for our food to come out. I ordered the pozole, and he ordered shrimp empanadas. My soup arrived first, and unfortunately, it was just warm, not hot. We waited and waited for his food, but it never came. When we finally mentioned it to the waitress, she rushed to the kitchen, and we waited even longer. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there seemed to be plenty of staff, so it was confusing why everything took so long. When we finally finished eating, it took forever to get our check. Overall, the food was mediocre, the service was slow, and the overall atmosphere was questionable. It was authentic and fulfilling. The service that we received from Sara was top tier as well. She checked on us periodically to make sure everything was good and if we needed any additional items. The staff was incredibly friendly and checked on us throughout our visit, which made the experience even better.
