Ok let me say this is the first time I have ever been to this place this whole area with all the new houses and everything around. It is very nice. The ambience at this place was really good. Nice outside area and inside area with water around it Service was really good this place busy and I can see why very nice food. It was very tasty. They give you a great amount and it's not too expensive overall pretty good. I will be back to try it again so I can give it the next star, but if you were in this area come and check it out play some volleyball outside just relaxing and look at the water. I will be back soon. I'll put up a couple of pictures that I have I should've taken a few more lol

We have been to the Boathouse several times over the past couple years. The overall atmosphere is hard to beat in this area. Inside bar and seating area is good, but the expansive outdoor covered dining area overlooking the 'lake' is the best part of being here. Service has always been good. The food itself is rather straight forward and unmemorable. Consider this place to be a pub grub with outdoor games to play, and a great outdoor dining space.

I would give a 5 star for the location alone. Literally looks like a boat house nestled next to a lake surrounded by a nice landscaped park and beach volleyball area in front of the entrance. We sat on what looks like the deck of the restaurant. Lots of flies. Service was okay. Took my kids here to eat after a soccer game. Felt a little out of place with all of the stares but we still wanted to give their food an unbiased review. My chicken pesto was good but not extraordinary. My husband said his burger was decent but the potato salad was no good. My kids enjoyed their Mac and cheese though. Only wish we had an eatery with a view and ambiance like this in Modesto!

This place was really nice right on the pond there were lots of flies however inside and out but they had these black fans to swat them away. My food was delicious The service I was waiting a while to ask for one of those fans so there's that but otherwise she was really fast to take my order at the beginning. It seemed pretty busy. The cheesecake was amazing. The drink was good too.

Dip was good just very salty

Didn't feel very welcoming and they don't have a lot of options definitely nothing kid friendly and food was very bland and me and my family felt like we were being watched by what seems to be the owner of the restaurant.

Overall a mixed review. Enjoyed our bottle of wine (in fact had two it was so good ) my Maui Waui was nice and cold, and the ladies enjoyed their drinks. Ambiance was nice as the waterfront theme with anchors and various other knickknacks and TVs everywhere to watch college football games was cool too. We didn't like that every table had those fly helicopter devices to keep the flies away. Definitely was a distraction and odd to say the least. You need to figure out the fly problem better than that! Service was okay and the waitress was friendly. Food was a major disappointment as the sea bass entree was cold and my wedge salad and carnitas tacos were so-so too. Nobody finished their plates and we didn't really have to explain why. Thankfully we had a great time with the wine and company to make it a good time anyway. Definitely won't be coming back unless I get up the courage to try again down the road...

Upon visiting for the first time, I was set at peace with the view of the waterway and the ambience. I was immediately seated and excellent service began. My food was received shortly thereafter and it was very good. I will surely return.

Nice place in River Island, good vibe, good place to hangout with friends, food is on point, the wings are a must.

Horrible, uneatable pastrami sandwich. This is not the first time. Horrible service too. Too pricey for what you get. Gross

The only thing this place has got going for it is, the location otherwise...Overpriced and understaffed. The food is mediocre at best. Some items on the menu are palatable but again... OVERPRICED. The menu has stayed the same for years, with exception of them raising prices. I mean c'mon... when you order chips as a side they LITERALLY (I saw them do this, they don't even TRY to hide it) OPEN A LUNCHBOX SIZE BAG OF VICKI's KETTLE CHIPS; if you ask for just a side of chips, they charge you $5.00!! The reason I've gone back is 1) I'm trying to give them the benefit of doubt so far... not doing to well with changing our mind(s) 2) convenience because this is currently the ONLY restaurant in River Island's I know BH is a little worried about this but I am, along with MANY OTHERS, so excited for the new restaurant (Redwood Cafe) to open later this year. I hope this helps in your decision making!

Extremely Disappointed and Deeply Concerned About Discriminatory Treatment My recent experience at The Boathouse at River Island was not only disappointing but deeply concerning. As an African American patron, I felt unwelcome and singled out from the moment my family and i walked in. Upon entering, my presence was immediately met with prolonged stares from several staff members. After waiting several minutes, the bartender looked over and casually stated that someone would be with us shortly. It took another five minutes before we were finally seated by Sarah, who identified herself as the manager on shift. However, instead of seating us right away, Sarah appeared more preoccupied with conversing and interacting with other staff than attending to us in a timely and respectful manner. Once seated, our server, Tevene, brought us a water pitcher with plastic cups. As someone who pays attention to detail, I noticed that every other table around us was served in proper glassware. When our drinks arrived--again, in plastic cups--I looked around and saw that another African American customer seated outside also had a plastic cup, while every other guest had glass. This pattern was alarming and deeply upsetting. We originally came with intentions of inquiring about renting the venue for a future event and attempted to speak with Marcus, the owner. Unfortunately, he was unavailable and, after three separate attempts to speak with him by phone, he either hung up or the calls were abruptly disconnected--without any follow-up or accountability. To be made to feel like an outsider, to be served differently, and to witness what appeared to be discriminatory behavior based on race is unacceptable. Racism, whether subtle or overt, has no place in hospitality or anywhere else. As an African American, I will choose to spend my time and money where I am valued and respected. I strongly encourage others in the Black community--and anyone who believes in equality--to think carefully before supporting this establishment.

Place is great, location, staff and food. I would suggest getting the wagyu steak and the mushroom ravioli!

The restaurant is connected to (or at least shares a building with) the casino, so parking can be a little tricky. Most of the lot was full when we arrived, and I ended up parking on the street. Inside, it's really cute. They have a great wine display right when you walk in, a cozy dining area, and a small outdoor patio that looked like a nice spot to sit. Service was good. Nothing over the top, but friendly and exactly what you'd expect. The menu sounded fantastic, which made me really excited. We ordered oysters, lobster bisque, filet mignon, scallop pasta, lobster mac and cheese, and I had an Old Fashioned. The oysters and bisque were both okay, the filet and pasta were decent, but honestly nothing really stood out. The biggest disappointment was the lobster mac and cheese. If you love lobster mac like I do and always order it when it's on the menu, I'd skip this one. It wasn't really mac and cheese at all. The sauce didn't taste cheesy, the presentation wasn't appealing, and it ended up being one of my least favorite versions I've had. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, but the food just didn't wow me. If someone invited me back for another celebration, I'd happily go. It just wouldn't be my first choice if I were picking the restaurant myself.

An amazing home-y spot for Asian comfort food in Manteca :)…read more For appetizers, we got the bang bang shrimp and spicy wontons and both were delicious. I liked how crispy and sweet yet tangy the bang bang shrimp was. This was probably my favorite item we tried! The chili wontons weren't too spicy and they were really generous with the amount of shrimp inside. Shrimp & wonton noodle soup was def a comfort meal growing up, so I'm happy they had that here! Portion size was very generous and broth was tasty. Noodles were cooked well too, and I liked the filling of the wonton. We also got the curry ramen with katsu chicken. The chicken was sooo crispy, it was one of my favorite items. The bacon kimchi flavor had a nice spicy kick to it. The beef chili oil noodles was tasty and I liked the small beef bits. The bang bang chicken had the same sauce as the bang bang shrimp, but I liked how the entree came with rice too. The philly cheesesteak eggrolls were super crispy, and if you're a cheese lover, you need to try this! Overall, a really solid spot for Asian fusion food, and the servers were all extremely nice and patient as well. Service was really quick!

It's located in an industrial area and I'm so happy my family asked to have Italian for this dinner. Julia was our server and was awesome! I appreciated her patience, suggestions, her attention to detail and sense of humor. Service as a whole was top tier here. We got there just in time before their dinner rush. After we ordered the dining room, bar and patio filled up. I had a Cali Squeeze blood orange brew on tap. It was perfectly chilled and perfect on this hot day. We ordered a meatball sub as an appetizer. Oh my goodness, this a must if you are a meatball fan. It was perfect and marinara didn't give me instant heartburn. For entrées our kids ordered chicken alfredo, hubby ordered their Tuscan Siena special and I had to try their steak sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. My steak sandwich had a lot of meat in it, but it was a little dry for my liking. The bread was dry, no condiments, just some onions. We took the leftovers back to our hotel and I picked the steak out and had it with some mustard as a snack. That was more satisfying. We did help our kids eat their chicken alfredo and I enjoyed it with some extra pepper. Next time I'm in Manteca, I will be back for a meatball sub and their fries. I'm so sad I didn't come back for another one and a cold one before leaving, but we'llbe back. This cozy local gem is family friendly, serve great Italian food and their prices are fair. I highly recommend and I look forward to returning. Thank you Julia for your hospitality and great service.
