When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!

I've encountered raw chicken left on the shelf two or more days past its expiration date, fresh fruit and salsa still being sold after their use-by dates, and produce that was visibly rotten and infested with bugs. These aren't minor issues when it comes to a grocery store--they're basic food-safety and quality concerns. And then there's the customer service. Today, there wasn't a friendly employee in sight, and the customers weren't much better. I'd especially like to thank the grumpy woman on the scooter who apparently tried to run me down three separate times. I assume you were having a bad day, but judging by the atmosphere in this store, it seems like everyone is having a bad day, every day. No one smiles. No one acknowledges customers. No one seems remotely interested in providing even basic courtesy. I understand that people have bad days--I really do--but when the entire experience consistently feels cold, hostile, and unwelcoming, it becomes a pattern rather than an isolated bad day. The cashier couldn't be bothered to say hello back or even make the slightest attempt at being friendly, and the young man bagging my groceries was just as dismissive. I've spent years shopping with Northgate Markets, which makes this especially disappointing. Customers shouldn't walk into a store and feel like they're an inconvenience for simply being there. Today was the final straw for me. There are plenty of other places willing to take my money while treating me--and other customers--with basic courtesy and respect.

They now have 2 locations in SoCal. This one in Costa Mesa inside the Northgate market and another one in Echo Park (Los Angeles) Delicious Churros, great service, Lively spot. They had a number which I called and the person on the other end gave a number which I could text more details about what I needed, for how many, my name, etc. Since they were driving and couldn't take my order at the moment I made sure to provide as much info and the time/day. I put the order 5 days before I said it needed it and they agreed it can be done by then. I thought it was easy and I just followed it up with the change of topping on the cake. I explicitly stated to text me if they needed anything else from me since I have never done this before. I probably should've followed them up, but I was busy that week. Since I didn't hear anything afterwards I thought I had secured my order. The day I come to pick up the cake, they tell me they don't have the order. The lady who I spoke to, who I'm assuming was on the phone when I initially called, is telling me I put a request not an order and that I didn't even provide my full name (not true, I did). I'm being told that I shouldve put down a deposit and have a contract with them for the cake. I wasn't provided with any contract or a Zelle username. If I had that information I would've absolutely done it. As a business you should provide the customer with that sort of information. I had no idea and I wasn't told that thru text. Should I have followed up? Absolutely, i know that now. There's no information on the website about a contract or deposit information. Only the phone number that I first called. So they should probably update that if they have so many orders and can't keep track with request. There was a lot of deflection from the lady when i tried to explain my grievance. No apology either for the confusion. I felt crazy because I thought I might've missed their messages. Nope nothing. Only the Zelle information after I had arrive there. Luckily, they had puff pastry ready and told me they could have the cake ready in 15 min, and I really needed the cake so I agree to still do business. When I got the cake it was still warm and they told me to freeze it in my refrigerator for it to set. 15 min to get to my place and the ganache has melted off the top and custard had already spilled out from the sides. I had a long drive afterwards and not even an insulated bag could save it. It did taste good, it's too bad about communication, and everything else.
