Happy Hour 2-6 so good time to try variety Restaurant pretty bare at 3:00 pm but good service . Complimentary WIFI always a plus for me. Food good. Asked for new chips and they fried up fresh. Have you ever left a restaurant and thought nobody there cares, that's Chillicothe Tumbleweed. The place looks good the waiter was friendly but then the food arrived. What a disappointment. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday lunch. The windows and carpets/rugs were filthy, as well as the bathroom. The bar top was sticky. They had zero hot sauces in the restaurant (a Tex Mex place??!!??). My tacos were dry and bland (and overpriced) and my wife's taco salad was also very bland. We only went here because we remembered Tumbleweed in Florence, KY and we were nostalgic, but ended up disappointed. The staff was very nice, though! read more

Taco salad was fine but had lots of refried beans and minimal shredded chicken. Lettuce and the shell were very fresh. Burrito was good. Server had only been there a week and did a great job. She checked the menu and verified we were good it the mentioned ingredients and sides. Also replenished drinks when they got low. Our main concern was the condition of the restaurant with wearing tables and peeling wallpaper. The fabric on the booth needed a good deep cleaning. We stopped at Tumbleweed in Chillicothe on our way home to Huntington, WV after spending a day in Columbus with 2 of our young children (both 7). After being seated our drink order was taken. The server brought the children's drinks but told us they didn't have clean cups and were waiting for clean ones. After another few minutes the server eventually brought us our drinks in styrofoam cups. We placed our orders, nothing that would take a bunch of time; a beef chimichanga, a fried chicken sandwich, a kids beef taco, and a kids cheese quesadilla. The waitress checked on us twice telling us our food should be right out. Well, 1 hour and 15 minutes after placing our order our food still had not arrived. We watched other tables around us get their food, eat, and pay their bills before ours every came out. By this time it was already 8p.m. and we still had a 2 hour drive ahead of us. When the server finally brought us our food, we asked if she could just go ahead and box it up to go for us. I told her that we had waited well over an hour and we still had a long drive ahead of us. There was no apology, just an, "Ok." I watched the manager prep our food from the kitchen doorway. I saw the server take our food back into the kitchen to box it up, where the manager still was. He had to have been aware of the issue, yet never paid a visit to our table. No discount was mentioned or offered. We were just given our boxes and the bill. The parking lot and dining area were almost empty while other places around were full and packed. Now we know why. read more

Stopped in here for a rest stop while traveling. It was early afternoon and the place was empty between lunch and dinner. I didn't notice the $10 steak special and the waiter didn't mention it. I assume that he was saving me from it. I ordered a taco salad with beef. I was surprised that I was offered a salad dressing choice for my taco salad. I declined the option because that isn't how taco salad is done anywhere that I have ever been. My taco salad was fresh with vegetables and lean on anything warm to include beef and refried beans, or cheese. The taco meat was bland for my liking. Had this been a taco it would have been a terrible taco for the lack of food warmth and cheese. Although, it seems that I have just torn down this taco salad, it was filling and fresh tasting. So besides the culinary choice to season the meat a particular way and provide more ingredients it was a good meal in size. So... this was option 3. Options 1 & 2 had long waits due to Valentine's Day. I seated myself at the bar as I was alone. I waited a significant amount of time (5+ minutes) to even be acknowledged by the massive amounts of staff (4-5) standing around. The bartender was in a bad mood (it's okay I can deal with that). The food selections were plentiful. I ordered chips and salsa. Salsa was straight from a jar, chips from a bag and no salt. The food when delivered was hot with mediocre presentation. The taste of the food was something between Taco Bell and every other TexMex place except those typically have flavor to their food. I had ordered the chicken poblano burrito with rice and and beans. The appetizers, queso, salsa and chips, are excellent as usual but the rest left much to be desired. My husband's ribs were great, perfectly cooked and yummy. However, I order the chicken poblano burrito and it was awful. The chicken was dry, there was an inch of hard cheese on the bottom of the burrito and chunky spices all over the top. It was awful. DEFINITELY A MUST!!! Driving through on our way to North Carolina. Travis the bartender was absolutely awesome. Great conversation, we both had different margaritas, I had the moonshine strawberry margarita and it was delicious made with real puréed strawberries. Complimentary chips and salsa(hot salsa is a must!) Both had the burger special 1/2burger with unlimited fries for $8!?!?!! My husband is very picky about burgers and was very impressed that when he ordered it medium, that is actually came out medium. I'm going to be honest. I'm not very fond of the food here in general. However, I love their queso dip and apricot salsa. So every once in a while I go in just for the queso. This time I ordered a large queso because the appetizers were half off. I also got the avocado white chicken chili which was new since my last visit. The queso is good as always. The chili was ok... there wasn't much avocado and it was cut a little large. If they'd cut it smaller it would have felt more abundant. There was like 3 big chunks. The server took a long time to initially get to my table but did well after that. Overall I still find their food to be mediocre at best... but I'll still come for the queso and half price appetizers every now and then. read more

Our Sunday lunch was so, so good. We saw TW driving through Chillicothe on our way home from Hocking Hills and decided to try it out. Sometimes random stops can turn out to be pretty dang good. We were quickly seated with drinks and complimentary chips and salsa. Definitely order the sweet apricot salsa, it's really good. Good enough that I wish they bottled and sold it to go. Chips are thick and good. I went with the 6oz steak medium rare with sweet potato and jalapeño cornbread. The bread was amazing, my favorite part of the meal. Sweet potato was a standard baked yam with butter and brown sugar. Steak was over cooked but still had great flavor. Very happy with my meal! Dirty tables and dust all over everything hanging from ceiling. Waiters had the orders all messed up and was really slow. When we complained about the service, the manager was rude. We have gone here twice in the last 2 weeks and have had poor experiences both times. It has been 80+ degrees both visits. It is unacceptable to not fix your air conditioning in a timely manner. The staff were mostly all sweating through their clothes and we were so hot that we didn't have as much of an appetite. The visit 2 weeks ago my wife's burrito was cold inside, but it was so miserable in the dining area that we didn't complain or else we'd have to sit in the hot box longer. This visit my fries were cold and my wife got another burrito which didn't have beans in it this time. It was yet again miserably hot inside, we assumed it would be fixed by now. We've been going here at least once a month for years and have never had so many issues. The waiters have been great each time, it's just the rest of the experience that hasn't been up to par. I think we will be taking a couple of months off from eating here again until they get their issues resolved. If I wanted to eat outside I'd request to eat on the patio, not in the main dining area. read more

OMG....where do I start? After not coming here for about 4 weeks, we decided to give it a try. Big mistake! Starting with the girls at the hostess stand; the phone rang and clearly the person on the other end was asking about the wait time. She told them an hour to an hour and 10 minutes. People coming in were told 25 minutes. She laughed when she hung up and told one of the other girls what she had told them. We ordered queso but it didn't come out before our salads and arrived just a few minutes ahead of our entrees. Of course in keeping with tradition, mine was sent back because it came out rare...I asked for medium well. The cheddar mash was ice cold. I'd like to give a higher rating, but after a 90- minute wait with 2 hungry restless kids, watching 3 other tables come in, receive food, eat and leave, we paid for our margaritas (which were watered down, and not that great) and left. The manager offered us a $15 coupon for our next visit, but seeing as we're not from the area, and just driving through, that doesn't do us much good.
