It's been a decade or two since I ate at a Tumbleweed. Since we were in the area, we decided to take a chance. The greeting and service we received was outstanding. The place was clean and well-lit. The prices were a bit high for what we got. My daughter for the steak tacos and I had the "lunch" chimi with rice. We had water to drink and shared a small queso. Our total was just under $40. Honestly, the chimi was okay, but I'd forgotten the taste and consistency of the beef was really not that great. I brought half home. What really left me with a bad taste was when the bill came, there were two totals. One for cash, another (3% higher) if you opted to pay by card. Excuse me?! Nah. When did they change their queso recipe? Tumbleweed is certainly not the same place as it was when I was a kid, but you could always count on the queso tasting the same. This is no longer true. Picked up carry out today. Unfortunately it was a bust. They forgot to add our queso to the order and of course we were too far away to go back. Then when we opened our beef burrito deluxe it was the smallest saddest burrito we've ever seen we had two dinners. We paid 40 and tipped , what we normally seen. When we called we talked to someone who wasn't really willing to do anything then left a message for mgr but he never returned the call. Deserved a credit. Pricing and quantity did not match. Food was good and that's about it. When we walked in we were taken down the first aisle of small booths, 3 of which had staff sprawled out eating chips in them and on their phones. Maybe they were on break, maybe not, who knows. We were seated just down from there by the kitchen and there was another large booth with more staff sitting and eating with 3 additional staff standing at the table talking and goofing off with them. Overview: Tumbleweed is a local restaurant that many of us love. I don't know what has happened to this Highlander Point location over the years. I went to eat at this location yesterday because my daughter wanted to go for her birthday. This was the first time I had visited in about a year due to my previous experience. There was not wait and we were seated quickly. Our drink order was taken fairly quickly along with a order for queso. It took approximately 10 minutes for our drinks to come out. We ordered when the drinks came. I asked for more chips, salsa and for 2 straws at this time. It took another 10 minutes or so to get more chips. We were advised at this time they were short staffed, which is the same thing I have been told in the past. It took over an hour to get our food from the time of ordering! Food: The food was fine, no issues but it is just average at best. The only good thing about the visit was that we had a 30% coupon. With that said the will was $30 before tip for 2 kids and 2 adults. With the hour wait to get our food my kids just wanted to go home instead of having the ice cream that was to come with their food. Service: The service is just not good. Thinking about the past few years, there are more times were service is bad than good. When I say service, this includes the time it takes to get food to the table. Conclusion: Food is average at best. Service (including time to get food to the table) was terrible and I have had this experience in the past. Food is over prices for what it is and given the service. Tumbleweed is NOT on my list of restaurants that I visit. If you want Mexican or tex/mex food, you are better off visiting one of the local Mexican restaurants. read more

Love the potato skins, taco salad, beef burrito enchilada style, chili con queso, apricot salsa (they aren't going to serve it anymore-what a shame), happy hour (recently changed from half-price to 30% off), and 99cent margaritas on Mondays. If you're ever in need of a great restaurant, this should be your first choice. The food was great, and although most of their items were spicy, they were still pretty good. We went to Tumbleweed on a Friday night with a group of 5 adults and one child. The wait was as expected for a restaurant in the area- about 15 minutes. The service that we received was a bit below standard and this is the only reason that I am deducting a star from my rating. Every other part of our experience was excellent. Our waitress was slow to take our drink order and even slower to bring the drinks. Only after being prompted (after she took the dinner order) were we able to submit our order for an appetizer. The waitress seemed to struggle with keeping our drinks filled and eventually just brought pitchers to our table. This was fine with us; we didn't like waiting for our drinks to be refilled anyways. Our table shared the queso dip and chip appetizer. Everyone loved the queso. We were also served complimentary hot, mild, and apricot salsas. While the hot was way too spicy for me, everyone else enjoyed it a lot. My husband ordered the taco salad with grilled marinated chicken. He requested that they add their house-made croutons, which he described as "heavenly little pillows of delicious". I ordered the enchilada dinner, which comes with one beef, one chicken, and one cheese enchilada. The dinner could be served enchilada style (red sauce), queso style (cheese sauce), or sour cream style (sour cream and cheese). I chose to have both enchilada sauce and queso on my enchiladas and couldn't have been more pleased with my choice. The dinner was offered with rice and beans, for which I substituted jalapeno cornbread. The bill totaled just over $100 after our appetizer, meals, drinks, and tip, making this a very affordable and delicious dinner choice. read more

Similar to what nearly everyone else has said in other reviews, this restraunt and the others in the chain are garbage. I ordered the fajitas today. I'm positive the peppers and onion came from a can. It tasted and looked quite similar to rotting trash and vomit. Buyer beware. Absolutely awful and a complete embarrassment to food. I do however realize the difference between being served food and not some slop that I wouldn't even feed my dog! News flash....queso is not a traditional Hispanic staple, so take that garbage back to the kitchen. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito, and beans n rice on the side. It tasted like pigeon shit, no I take that back because I'm sure that pigeon shit has more flavor than what was served on my plate.... I don't expect this to be food that I can get from a little Mexican lady's house, but if you're going to advertise Mexican food/Tex Mex at least make a decent effort for the food to taste like it. I think this restaurant is incredible. I really enjoy the Tex-Mex feel and food combination and the margarita bar. The crew is very respectful and responsible and I love how the managers touch every table and will do anything for their customers.
