    Hot Sauce Bar
    Sydney B.

I'm so freaking happy Tijuana Flatts is in Kentucky. I had it for the first time in Florida years ago and became hooked. What makes Tijuana Flatts special is the hot sauce bar which comes with 12 different type of sauces to try. They all have different spice levels so there is something for everyone. The food is fantastic. I went with the Flautas with beef and cheese and my husband had the quesadilla. Both of us enjoyed our food. The portion sizes are massive so come hungry. Tijuana Flatts has the best queso hands down. I can eat it with everything. The prices are fair for how much food you get. Both of our means we're around 12 dollars a piece. It was worth every penny. I'm so happy Tijuana Flatts is back in Louisville. Don't walk, RUN to it as soon as possible

Oh, MY. Tijuana Flats is My Kinda Place!! We paid our first visit on a recent Friday for dinner. And. It. Was. Awesome! Tijuana Flats occupies the space that used to be...(wait...I have absolutely no idea what used to occupy this space)...something else and opened recently. I had never heard of Tijuana Flats before and I love, Love, LOVE Mexican, so this was an easy choice. The inside was very clean and very colorful. From the Louisville-ized mural on the wall to the color coding on the Hot Bar, it's a color feast for the eyes. You order at the counter they bring the food to you when it's ready. Since this is our first visit we had questions, which Justin was able to answer, and he also provided helpful suggestions. The menu isn't enormous, but it's well-suited to the establishment, covering the typical Mexican fare with some sides and a few specialty items. Since I'm a huge fan of Street Tacos, I went with the Green Chile Street Tacos. We also got a Chips and Guac starter. Food delivery took less than ten minutes, and the food was hot and fresh and the tortilla chips we still warm. The guac (freshly made) was 100% awesome! Between the chips that came with our starter and the chips that came with our entrees, we had A LOT of chips! (note: All entrees come with chips) My Green Chile Street Tacos were most excellent! I tried one sauce from each section of the Hot Bar. Oh, man, I gotta tell you about the Hot Bar. The Hot Bar is their sauce/salsa section. There are 3 different sauces on each of 4 sides. The bottom of each section is color coded to go with the heat level of the sauces on that side. Green for mild, then yellow for medium, orange for hot, and red for Holy Hell Hot! It's a completely cool and a completely clever way to provide the sauces. There are paper cups available as well. As we sat there was someone coming out to take care of the dining room every few minutes. There are no trash cans because they clear the tables after you leave. The décor is colorful, that atmosphere is fun, the service was great, and the food was excellent. We will MOST definitely be back!

Quasadilla was excellent!. Only two employees working which seemed insufficient. Definitely plan to return.

Whenever we asked someone to recommend somewhere to eat, they invariably would say La Bodeguita. I…read moream not exaggerating, every single person. We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!

It could just be mediocre pub food, but the food here is very, very good. I don't know why, but when I'm in the south, I get the hankering for a deviled egg. So we started with the deviled eggs (Los Huevos El Diablo), which, despite the name, were not super spicy. They had just the right amount of spice. One thing to know about me is: If I see a patty melt on the menu, I will order that. So I got the Merle's Melt, which is a burger patty with cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, plus bacon and special sauce on buttered toast. It was sublimely tasty! It comes with house-made chips, which were good. They also offer tacos on the menu. One of my children got one steak taco and one chicken taco. The tacos are topped with tomato, lettuce and cojita cheese. I was told that these were very good! My kid eats like a bird, but ate one and a half tacos, so that must say something, right? The Lip Smack'n Mac & Cheese was also ordered, as well as the fried chicken, because the menu says that the fried chicken is award-winning, so how could we not? The fried chicken was super crispy and tasty, and the mac and cheese was creamy and made with large shells, which is the best kind of pasta to use for mac and cheese (in my opinion). The service was great, the lighting was great, and we were seated quickly, even though they seemed busy. It was a good place to have a family dinner in Louisville.

Due to a tornado warning, we decided to skip driving to Agave + Rye (big mistake) from Veterans due to living over 30 minutes away and needed to get home stat. So we ordered from what we thought was an interesting menu compared to most taco spots. Sadly, the tacos received were child size, yet cost $7-$8. My shrimp taco had one shrimp on it, and the rest sauce. While my chicken taco that was supposed to have quirky ingredients was missing said ingredients and the chicken was raw. I immediately spit it up and threw it in the trash. While my stomach did hurt for two days, I'm still alive. So, it luckily didn't kill me but there is a serious disconnect in the kitchen. I attempted to contact the business to discuss the order issues but a manager never called back. Wouldn't have left this review if communication was followed through on. I work hard for my money and was expecting a loaded high-quality $8 taco worthy of the investment. Torchys, sadly, didn't deliver on that promise. From the muddled flavors, missing ingredients, raw chicken, and dollhouse sized tacos... Torchys won't get my hard earned money again.
