Tiajuana Flats enters a pretty crowded space both in concept and location. There are at least three other fast Mexican restaurants that I can think of within a few minutes drive on Hurstbourne. TF has a fight on its hands! The massive mural inside of an iguana named Izzy Ali, standing in a ring, dressed for boxing says that they might know this as well. So, let's get it on! Inside, the layout is straightforward with plenty of seating in an open room. Low, configurable tables with 4 chairs, pub style seating with 6 seats, and a few booths. You have options. Bold, vibrant colors adorn the walls and ceiling. The words will implore you to explore the heat that they offer and in the middle of the room is the hot sauce station. There are 12 sauces in pumps, broken up into 4 sets of 3 ranging from mild to fire. I tried a few and didn't find any of the heat intolerable with a couple being genuinely enjoyable! Pricing on the menu is about what you'll see elsewhere. The level of service is a little elevated in that you're not going down a line choosing ingredients. Rather, you place your order and they bring it out to your seat after yelling out your name. Additionally, the drinks are not self-serve which makes refills less desirable since you may need to flag someone down or, if it is busy, wait in line. I didn't have that problem since it was a quiet Tuesday lunch and service was always available. I got the street tacos. The blackened chicken is the way to go. Three tacos came out with fresh chips to the side, seasoned well. There's no salsa, though, so keep that in mind. Overall, I enjoyed it! read more

Went on a Saturday night and not too crowded. Plenty of parking. Ordered at the counter. We got the 2 for $22 entrees on a Saturday deal which is select entrees with an app (chips and salsa or queso) and 2 fountain drinks. Cost extra for add ons or variations. Queso was decent. The entrees we ordered= steak burrito and tacos were bland and simple. Not much flavor to them with their toppings (lettuce, chips, pico de gallo, & sour cream). Even tried several of the buffet style sauces you can get and they didn't add to the burrito or tacos. read more

I'm so freaking happy Tijuana Flatts is in Kentucky. I had it for the first time in Florida years ago and became hooked. What makes Tijuana Flatts special is the hot sauce bar which comes with 12 different type of sauces to try. They all have different spice levels so there is something for everyone. The food is fantastic. I went with the Flautas with beef and cheese and my husband had the quesadilla. Both of us enjoyed our food. The portion sizes are massive so come hungry. Tijuana Flatts has the best queso hands down. I can eat it with everything. The prices are fair for how much food you get. Both of our means we're around 12 dollars a piece. It was worth every penny. I'm so happy Tijuana Flatts is back in Louisville. Don't walk, RUN to it as soon as possible read more

Oh, MY. Tijuana Flats is My Kinda Place!! We paid our first visit on a recent Friday for dinner. And. It. Was. Awesome! Tijuana Flats occupies the space that used to be...(wait...I have absolutely no idea what used to occupy this space)...something else and opened recently. I had never heard of Tijuana Flats before and I love, Love, LOVE Mexican, so this was an easy choice. The inside was very clean and very colorful. From the Louisville-ized mural on the wall to the color coding on the Hot Bar, it's a color feast for the eyes. You order at the counter they bring the food to you when it's ready. Since this is our first visit we had questions, which Justin was able to answer, and he also provided helpful suggestions. The menu isn't enormous, but it's well-suited to the establishment, covering the typical Mexican fare with some sides and a few specialty items. Since I'm a huge fan of Street Tacos, I went with the Green Chile Street Tacos. We also got a Chips and Guac starter. Food delivery took less than ten minutes, and the food was hot and fresh and the tortilla chips we still warm. The guac (freshly made) was 100% awesome! Between the chips that came with our starter and the chips that came with our entrees, we had A LOT of chips! (note: All entrees come with chips) My Green Chile Street Tacos were most excellent! I tried one sauce from each section of the Hot Bar. Oh, man, I gotta tell you about the Hot Bar. The Hot Bar is their sauce/salsa section. There are 3 different sauces on each of 4 sides. The bottom of each section is color coded to go with the heat level of the sauces on that side. Green for mild, then yellow for medium, orange for hot, and red for Holy Hell Hot! It's a completely cool and a completely clever way to provide the sauces. There are paper cups available as well. As we sat there was someone coming out to take care of the dining room every few minutes. There are no trash cans because they clear the tables after you leave. The décor is colorful, that atmosphere is fun, the service was great, and the food was excellent. We will MOST definitely be back! read more

I was getting my car serviced at Discount Tire and decided to go see what this place was about. Upon entering, I was a bit confused but realized you order and then they bring the food. I guess I was imagining a chipotle set up. I ordered the burrito bowl with blackened chicken and strawberry lemonade. The girl helping me was nice enough to suggest both items, I sat down in the lobby and she brought my food out in less than 10 mins. Presentation of it wasn't anything special, the chicken was seasoned pretty good but the black beans tasted mushy and I didn't care for the lettuce or shredded cheese felt like it was something they threw together with cheap ingredients. My strawberry lemonade was "ok", it had an after taste that I couldn't quite out my finger on but needless to say the meal was cheap and the service was good. read more

Had a recent catering order from this restaurant. The experience was and has been awful. First, the food arrived 30 minutes past the time it was supposed to arrive (delivery time 11:45, arrived 12:15). No one called to let me know it would be late. I had people at my office waiting to eat. When it did arrive, there were no bowls or utensils included. I had called the restaurant before placing the order to confirm that they would be included and was told yes. So I had a burrito bowl buffet with no bowls. I was away from the office when the food arrived but when I returned to the office I took a look at what was delivered and felt like we were missing something. At 1:45, two hours after the original delivery time, someone from restaurant (I believe the shift manager) dropped off 2 containers of salsa, 2 containers of sour cream and a container of corn salsa by handing them to the person who answer the door and said sorry these weren't included and quickly jumped in car and drove away. People were well done eating at that point so I am not sure what sense it made to deliver those items that far past the original delivery time. It has now been 1 week since this fiasco. I have reached out to the restaurant multiple times and am told the general manager will call me back. To date, she has not done so. The way that this was handled and continues to be handled is not ok. read more

Never had Tijuana flats so figured id give it a shot. Got the Dos enchiladas, the tacos trios and the bowl. Upon arriving home I realized I only received one enchilada. The tacos in the trio are way too small. Literally the entire thing fit in my hand and with multiple taco places nearby with higher quality, and comparable prices i would never get tacos here again. Another issue we got three different tacos to try the variety and the steak had a fishy flavor probably from having shrimp and steak on same cooking surface so if you have a shellfish allergy make sure you either stay away or inform them. Bowl was all good. If you want Mexican food might as well go one of the other in the area, wait time was about the same, quality was worse and prices are about the same if not more expensive and flavor was comparable to a taco bell experience. All in all I know I will never go back here again. The food was overpriced comparable to the quality, the order was incorrect, the wait time was approximately the same as going to restaurant anyway, the flavors were just ok but when you have so many other options nearby that have better flavor and cost the same or less why not just go there. The only redeeming quality was the variety of sauces which some had interesting flavor profiles to try on your food but you don't come to a place to try the sauce. read more

Never knew this place was where it was located. happened to stop by for my lunch break and it was absolutely amazing. I got the bowl,as a former Salsaritas, Chipotle, and Mose fiend and being disappointed with all of them this was very refreshing. Plenty of food and the price was a steal compared to the places I listed earlier. Service was amazing. The worker walked me around all the hot sauce and explained got to me. Little sad in my opinion that the place was a little dead. it deserves more attention! read more

Food was great!! Had a burrito that was so big and tasty!! So many sauces to choose from. The service was great!! I don't have his name but the guy who was behind the counter was welcoming, energetic, very knowledgeable, helpful and kind!!! It's a smaller space but enough tables to dine in or room to sit and wait for take out. I will be back! read more
