I'm not sure why this place was so empty on a Friday night. They have really good food, live music, pool tables. My husband had the steak sandwich and it was huge, he had to take half of it home. I had the bowl of chili and a chicken quesadilla. I asked to add mushrooms to the quesadilla and it was just right. Came with sour cream, I didn't even have to ask. The live music started up about 8:30-ish and it was a lively band called Ax Thru the Hood. Very talented group of musicians performing 80's and 90's hits. We enjoyed chatting with the band members during the break, I think we were all about the same age. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu and listen to some live music. Only been here once...on a Wednesday night. Maybe half dozen fellow patrons in the place around 9:30pm. We've passed by a hundred times. Side note - my family used to own The Jetty which used to be here years ago prior to Tumbleweeds. Anyway, several pool tables, karaoke was in effect,, juke box. Nice bar with plenty of tables inside. Food - wifey and I got chicken taquitos and an order of onion rings. Both real good. Drink - Mai Tai and a Vodka/soda. Mai Tai was legit. Vodka/soda was a bit small (i am used to O'Connell's size). Service - the bartender was the only front house employee and she was cool. Price - a tad pricey, but fair. We'd come back for sure. read more

If you want the perfect dive/ hole in the wall spot- this is it. They have a pretty decent menu with a wide variety of items to pick from. I live close by and I've stopped in to eat here twice during brunch/and lunch time. I've tried their breakfast burrito and bbq burger- both good! My bf tried their Caesar wrap and chicken tenders. They also host Karaoke 4 days a week!! (Sunday-Wednesday) Their host for Karaoke is welcoming and very nice! They also have live bands on Saturday nights! Some people in the reviews wonder why this establishment is called a dive. Truth is it started as a dive and succeeded. When I was around we called it stumbleweeds. Various sources refer to Tumbleweeds as a dive bar. I'm not sure why. Maybe my idea of a dive bar is different. Tumbleweeds has a restaurant which serves lunch, dinner and later night snacks. The bar is open until 2am. They also have pool tables. My friends and I visited on a Friday night after 10pm. There was live music. It was not too crowded. Never having been there before, I chatted with the doorman and one of the bartenders separately. The consensus is that karaoke nights are big. I did order two servings of chips and salsa for our group. The taste and texture of the chips were fine; the flavor of the salsa was good; but I feel it was a bit expensive, relative to the serving size. I have no qualms about the drink prices. Service received from the bartenders was very good. It was easy to get their attention, and to get drink orders filled quickly. read more

The servers get 5 stars for honesty & promptness. The food was meh. I started with the shrimp cocktail assuming it was Mexican ceviche style & it wasn't. Still a good amount of large, juicy shrimp but it was the actual cocktail style with cocktail sauce. Since there were no chips or crackers to fill me up the Mexican way, I also ordered a plate of fish & chips. Breaded nicely & piping hot. The food is pretty good and they have quite a large selection on their menu. The stage is far from any tables and the people playing pool were distracting the comics. The booths are all ripped up and old. I went up to the bar before 8pm and the bartenders gave off super weird energy. I stood there and waited for one of the two women to say something. They just stared at me so I said hi and asked if the kitchen was open. They said no. Then I may have heard incorrectly, but it sounded like one woman said she would go back and make me something but her leg hurt??? Why were they showing a steady slideshow of food pics when the kitchen was closed? I ordered a White Russian and didn't see any vodka poured in--just a brown liquid that looked like it was from a Dekuyper bottle and some milk. Completely unworthy of the $10 price. Went in on a Friday night for the first time, the place was cool and I liked the music but it was dead and didn't feel inviting. The woman working had curly hair and seemed to have no desire to want to be working. She wasn't engaging at all with us, maybe because we were new idk, but after she served our drinks, she went and sat down at the end of the bar with the regulars and was talking with them. It's really frustrating trying new places, and wasting money. Won't be back, we'll stay at Johnnys. read more

We came for the wonderful music that was headlined at Tumbleweeds. Thought it was great place to listen and dance to the Kool Breezze band. It is a great venue for having good music. We ordered and immediately knew the place was way to many people for one server. A simple draft and soda took a long while. We then put in our order for food. Great. The order must now be in the kitchen....good music....good friends.....a good draft .....good vibes inside the Tumbleweeds. Food?..a second server was introduced and we informed her of our order. When after another wait we were approached if we wanted to order now..it was clear that our order was lost. No thanks, just give us the bill for the drinks. Food?..we will never know. Came to Tumbleweeds after driving around the area to find a good dive bar. We were trying to avoid the main street locals. At about 1130 we came upon tumbleweeds. Nobody was in there except for two guys playing pool a man fixing a cake cooler and me and my friend. The ambience in there is definitely Texan rancher style, with the typical stereo type decor of a dive bar. We ordered chicken tenders and a side of fries, which was very good considering it was bar food, and then amount of food they had available that late of night was impressive. The drinks were good, nothing to write home about, however, the clutter behind the bar is what was distracting to me. I think this place has a lot of potential, but since it's been open for about 30 years, I'm guessing they don't care what I think about their potential lol seems like it's definitely place perhaps on the weekends however, during the week it's pretty dead and you can't see the tumbleweeds flyby. read more

I've been a Huntington local since the late 70's and have come to Tumbleweeds since I have moved here. This past New Year's Eve, I was not only appalled but taken aghast to the fact that this establishment was forcing everyone to pay $20 for a cover fee. This is the equivalent of putting premium gasoline into a beat up Honda Accord. Tumbleweeds is a grimy, disgusting dive bar that should charge no more than $5-$10 for a cover fee. The owner obviously doesn't understand the principles of elementary level economics that are taught in High School. Shame Shame Shame! read more

The karaoke here is amazing. The food and drink prices are WAY too high. The place is often dead, I think because of the prices for drinks and food. It is close to $15 for a well rum and coke. Ridiculous for basically a dive bar. I'd come in more often if the prices were more reasonable. It is cheaper to go to Renz in Tustin for karaoke. I'd rather go to Tumbleweeds though because it is closer. I hope they reconsider their prices. read more

I missed brunch by an hour, so I wasn't able to partake on their brunch specials. But holy cow, you can get a huge glass of bubbly for under $10. For the early afternoon, I ordered the champagne they had on hand and it was so refreshing! Why don't they sell Wycliff champagne around here? Shrimp cocktail was fresh and delightful as a snack. Bartender was attentive. Super spacious inside with few patrons. They had billiard tables. Bathroom was newly updated and clean. Since moving down the street, this place has quickly become our favorite Sunday football spot. They open at 9:00 am so we can get here in time for the 10:00 games and they have plenty of TVs for the games. Friendly staff, good beer/alcohol selection and lots of space inside. Good crowd, not too rowdy! Haven't tried the night scene here yet. Their food is highly UNDERrated. Loved this place. There were a few fancier and trendy places all around (with big waits) but we really just wanted a place to have a drink and some wings and lunch and this place really exceeded my expectations. We started off with the wings which were fantastic. They were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with just the right amount of heat in temperature and spice. I would probably order those again the next time I come by. I forgot to take a pic of those cuz they were so good we ate them in a flash! My boyfriend ordered the chili cheeseburger which was YUGE, tasty and had a big serving of fries to go with it. I ordered the fish'n chips which were the best I've had in a long time. The pieces of fish were really big and were cooked perfectly crispy and not overdone (I hate when places over cook fish - this was cooked perfectly!). She gave us malt vinegar to go with it and the tarter sauce was excellent. And just like the chili cheeseburger, it came with a big serving of fries. For drinks we had two IPAs and some waters. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, sorry we forgot to get your name but she was the blonde server who also worked behind the bar. Last night was rough here. We showed up a few minutes after 8 for Thank You Drive Thru that was the band playing, starting at 9. I asked if we were allowed to freely sit at a table over by the dance floor. The gal asked me what drinks we wanted. I said I wasn't sure - we also want to eat - but needed to know if we were able to sit there. We ordered food a little after 8, and were told the kitchen closed at 9. Our waitress was distracted by everything. She said she couldn't hear us, the music was playing loudly... I believe a juke box? Also someone fell outside and she was more concerned with that. We ordered drinks as well. I ordered a Bacardi and diet and a water. I was really thirsty and my water was gone immediately. It took a half hour to ask for more water, and when she came back she brought me another Bacardi and diet, which I did not order, and no water. She blamed it on me having a tall straw in my water. Not sure what that had to do with anything, as I was given the straw. I didn't put it in my glass. Anyway. Our food order was two burgers, a plate of spaghetti, and a wrap. Our food took an hour and ten minutes to be delivered. It was well after 9pm when it arrived. I didn't even eat but three bites of my burger as I was scared I was going to get sick from it. My friend also did not eat much of her burger. When we wanted our checks I had to chase down our waitress. Honestly it was tempting not to walk out however I would never do that, and she collected our credit cards when we first ordered. That took another half hour once I found her to get the checks. It was an extremely long and frustrating night. I went to use the restroom and flat out couldn't do it. The locks are missing so there are holes... and it was filthy. So filthy I refused to use it. Super inconvenient. And just disgusting. Made me regret that I even ate any of my food that I ordered. A foul restroom in a restaurant / bar just makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. It was very loud, and the crowd was very active on the dance floor. They have a huge silver standing fan on the dance floor. The dance floor is also an inch or so elevated and I was worried all night someone was going to fall - people were extremely intoxicated. Also the lighting at the tables we were at, at the edge of the dance floor had extremely bright lights. The crowd was interesting to say the least. People were outside skateboarding on the sidewalk. Odd to me. It was a combo of much older patrons and much younger patrons. There was another room with pool tables that I did not venture into. The service was poor, as was the attitude, and I would not return. read more
