A delicious sushi restaurant in Yucaipa! First time trying sushi in this area and their rolls were worth the price. They have a section in their menu called Tuna Time House Roll and all of their rolls are 50% off. I really enjoyed eating the "Sexy Spicy Salmon Crunch Roll" but the rest of the rolls were alright. Happy New Year! We dropped in for a quick evening bite and enjoyed some miso soup with about 3 different rolls. Express, Palm Springs and baked scallop (incredible roll). Excellent as always. And we were fortunate to see Owner Chef Kevin behind the sushi bar creating magic. After we completed our meal, Chef Kevin rushed over to give us a tasty dessert of fried cheesecake surrounded by whip cream. He seems to always give us something complimentary every time he sees us. I wish I could give a good review. The service was good! Our waitress was attentive and kind. But the sushi not so much. I got the lion king roll, which is baked, and so should have taken a photo. It came out sizzling like a fajita. I get baked rolls often and never had a roll come out like that before. It was extremely hot and the sauce was teriyaki sauce so it burnt to the plate they brought out. It was so burnt the bottom half of my roll was coming off on the plate it was stuck. So then each one just fell apart. The rice was chewy and burnt and it was bad enough i has to spit it out because i couldn't chew it. I ended up leaving the rest as they were all stuck to the plate. My husband got 2 rolls one was the fire fire and I'm not sure the name of the other but he did not care of either. I did try one and I'm not sure if it was the brand of sirachi but it tasted like sushi and ketchup. The other roll he said was ok but not something he would order again. read more

Tuna Time is a nice local sushi spot with good food and good service. Restaurant seating is limited, so expect extended wait times. However, the wait is for good reason. They offer a decently sized sushi menu, with some of the House Rolls being half-price! Tuna Time is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the IE. A friend showed my girlfriend and I this place years ago and since then its has been a staple for us and our dates. It's hands down our favorite sushi restaurant and we make a trip from Moreno Valley whenever we need our fix. It's located in a low-key plaza and is relatively small. On a busy night, there might be a wait for a table but the bar is usually open and many people tend to order over the phone for a pickup. Miso soup given as an appetizer with every meal and the menu has a great array of options, including a half-off roll section. Yelp, you steered me wrong again. I ate here and spent last night on the toilet in agony. So thanks for that. Dear god.... why did I listen to you. This food was garbage, absolutely not 4 or 5 star sushi. How the hell does this happen? I'm guessing a few effects are in play here. 1. It's in the middle of nowhere and there is not a lot of competition, so people think this is 5 star sushi and review such. Look at their reviews and the items they are describing. Most are for fried spicy sauce rolls. Some of these glowing reviews even mention bad service or bad food (looking at you Ricardo and Kiki). 2. The menu shows the "regular price" for a roll (exorbitant-- $7 for a CA roll) and then informs you that you are getting 50% off today! Wow! A value! Not. The sale price is the price you would be paying at the average place for sushi that tastes good. Psychology working on diners maybe. I call this the Kohl's Effect. 3. The alcohol is probably very cheap and that made reviewers verrrry happy when eating and then reviewing what they ate. 4. Everyone was eating "spicy tuna" which is commonly used to mask the taste of fish about to go bad. 5. White people eating fried sushi rolls drowned in sauce think that's awesome sushi. Frying also masks the taste of fish about to go bad. The servers were pretty nice but didn't bother to refill our waters. The free miso soup and ice cream was nice. But the actual sushi was a crying shame, especially for the price I paid. My rolls were falling apart on the plate as the lady put them on the table. They were not shaped properly. Rice did not go all the way around the roll and was missing in places. The rolls were not cut evenly and neatly. Some pieces were big and some were thin. The rolls were not round, it looked like a smushed lopsided oval or rectangle. If sushi rolls come to my table looking worse than what I could have made at home, oh heeeeeeell no. You can't tell me I'm paying for it. Rainbow roll had 3 kinds of fish and one stripe of avocado-- disappointing as at most places there are 5-7 neatly cut sashimi. The fish pieces were not cut neatly, they were lopsided and jagged with some pieces thick and some thin, and then pieces were placed on it sloppily so that the whole roll with its skimpy rice was not covered. The fish did not taste clean or fresh. I knew I was taking a chance eating it from the taste and stupidly kept eating because I was starving and wanted to believe I was wrong. More on that later. The dragon roll was drowned in a watery sauce. Absolutely drowned. The sauce was a puddle on the plate and the rice of the roll had completely soaked up the sauce, so the roll was falling apart. The sauce was not Japanese or even Korean eel sauce. It was very thin and watery with a very unappealing texture and syrup taste. I suspect it was someone's attempt at making their own sauce or maybe they were running out or trying to save money on sauce and just watered it down? I know people do that with hand soap, but please don't do it with condiments on food you sell. Buy the real sauce for the correct food. The rolls had a lot of salt added to them. This did not unfortunately mask the flavor of the funky krab meat filling in the rolls. It was almost completely mayonnaise and really gross. It was not fresh. I liked the tempura shrimp inside the roll but lol, it did not go all the way through the whole roll, the middle pieces had no shrimp. The soy sauce on the table in the light soy sauce bottle was not light but full sodium. Huge pet peeve of mine about cheap sushi joints. Try tasting the two sauces. You should clearly taste a difference. After we'd eaten the rainbow roll I looked up to see the "specials" menu and saw that some of them listed escolar as an ingredient. Dear holy hell. Are you kidding me? Escolar is a fish which gives most people explosive diarrhea.
