Stopped in for lunch after visiting the Capitol. Sat at the bar and went with the burger & beer. In my case, I got the blue cheese version, which had a delicious blue cheese sauce on it. Made things a bit messy, but well worth it. Folksy kind of place with a few regulars perched in bar stools throughout the day. I thought the decor was pretty cool. It was a long day of walking, sightseeing, and general touristy exhaustion when the clouds parted and shined a guiding light down on Tune Inn. We walked in and immediately left behind the pretention of many of the restaurants & bars we had been to throughout the week. When I use the term "hole in the wall," I'm actually using it in a positive, affectionate manner here. We ordered mixed drinks and greasy comfort foods (the hush puppies were awesome) and were delighted at how small the bill was. This bar has been a fixture among politicos in town for a long town (there's even a picture of Janet Reno eating there, who apparently frequented this place!) I recently read that the place suffered a fire (my guess would be a grease fire based on the foods on their menu!). Though it is currently closed due to damages, there are plans to fix the place up and re-open and it can't happen soon enough. read more

A good place to go to after a hard night of drinking... Why? Because your taste buds are shot and your stomach will ingest just about anything as long as it's greasy which is great because their burgers have zero seasoning in it and taste like nothing. Even the tuna melt was less than mediocre. Also, great after a hard night because service sucks but you'll be too tired to complain. I gave it an extra star because the fries were not bad but it's not likely I'll be back. The fact that this place was featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives and yet sucked is not surprising to me. 3.5 stars I only had the Reuben sandwich which was somewhat forgettable, but still a solid sandwich. My friend and I were able to get seating quickly on a friday night and the service was alright. This is one of those hole in the places to visit when in DC. Went because it was featured on DD&D on the food network. The food was good and the service was great. We had a party of 16, and they were able to handle it. My only complaint would be that someone in my party had to ask for a cup of water multiple times. read more

We were a little confused walking in. Once we figured it was a seat yourself environment, we wiggled our way towards some bench seating towards the back. We got the feeling that we were in the midst of "regulars" which was werid at first, but we got over it. For starters, we got the mozza sticks which were great--- Probably the best mozza sticks we've ever had. I got that the po boy sandwich and it was good. I couldn't eat it all. My husband got the fish and chips platter, which he loved. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. The service was really quick and friendly. Everything we tried from the menu was a bland, battered something deep fried into a greasy, tasteless mess. And from the looks of it, the rest of the menu held true to that description as well. If you like beer battered everything, then this may be the place for you. Now, don't get me wrong I love a good tasty fried morsel, but when done well. Sadly, not the case here. This place is awesome for a drink. Loved the atmosphere, with walls full of interesting things to look at, comfortable booths, and a long narrow lay out. It was perfect for a late night beer or cocktail, and the crowd was pleasant and upbeat all around. The waitress seemed hurried and unfriendly, but I don't fault her as she seemed to be the only one working on this particular night and it was a very full house. There was also a guy roaming around, doing various things such as helping run food, or grabbing drinks from the bar. He may have been a manager, and he was very friendly and greeted us as soon as we made our way from the crowded front door area past the bar into the table section. I feel like in a past life, The Tune Inn would be 5 stars. Its a hokey dive bar with decent food that's manages to be a local hotspot and tourist attraction all at once. But I feel like as soon as The Tune Inn realized all of this about itself, that past life ended, and ushered in the life we currently live in. This place came recommended by my number 1 go to friend for food recommendations, though it included the caviat "I'd only been there once, and while drunk." I got there before the rest of my group and ordered a beer from their unimpressive selection (I know, dive bar, its all good), and was charged a bit more than I would have thought, but nothing extravagant. Eventually the party all arrived, we were seated and we placed our orders, which included a couple pichers of beer, hot wings, chilli nachos and a round of burgers. The wings were the bright spot of the whole meal. They were cooked exactly to my liking, and the sauce was great, thought not even close to hot. The nachos were just meh, though the chili was good. THe burgers were a HUGE disappointment (perhaps my expectations were too high). THough the bacon was great, the patty was dry and boring. The BBQ sauce I ordered never came also. The fries were pretty good though. My biggest qualm is the overall vibe. It at no point feels comfortable the way a dive should, it felt much more like a "get them in, get them out, we're too big to cater to any specific table" kind of place. Also, the whole thing was way more expensive. Thanks to yelp we happened to stumble into this little dive bar. We were able to sit right away and the service was pretty good. I loved the chicken bites, fried chicken stuffed with buffalo and bleu cheese (it really should be what people rave about). I also had tony battered beer burger which was honestly very flavorless and the mozzarella sticks were too greasy ! (Don't get me wrong I love greasy food but this was too much). Delicious food, very cool atmosphere (hunting and sports memorabilia) and most importantly a very friendly staff. It's a historic diner / bar and they have cocktails which is always nice. This place isn't worth your time or money. We were a party of six dining here for lunch and no-one enjoyed their experience. The French dip sandwich was served without cheese. The roast beef was completely dry and the fries tasted like freezer burn. The grilled chicken sandwich was served with some type of syrupy orange sauce on-top that was very artificial and sweet. One friend ordered a grilled cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted on it. It was just an orange piece of cheese placed on buttered bread. It's pretty hard to mess up a grilled cheese. The employees working there were not friendly at all didn't seem to enjoy working there. Go elsewhere. read more

I read the reviews from other user so I came here. I ordered the daily special, Meat sauce spaghetti and toast. The toast is super excellence, is full of favorfull butter and cripsy. But the spaghetti sauce is much worse than those out of a jar. May be someday I will just come back for the toast or give it more try by order other foods. read more

I've been twice this week after stumbling into it years ago on a tipsy night. I couldn't find it until now. Food was good and the waitress is entertaining. I love that they are open late night and have an huge variety of food to choose from. The prices are reasonable as well. They always have specials, but unfortunately they play that by ear. So far I had the Philly Cheese Steak, and Buffalo Chicken Salad.... They were great and filling just had to put a little salt on sandwich and take out some of the cheese in the salad. read more
