I looked at the list of places this could be done and noticed that Tune Tech was close to my work, so I decided to take my car here. Not joking, I was there for less than 10 minutes. I needed my engine replaced in my Ford F-150. The staff at Tune Tech ordered the block, and install kit and started on it right away. I wasn't in a rush, but these guys got my truck back to me within a week. They cleaned up the rest of the components and everything looks like it's new again. I got estimates from the Ford dealer, and another shop and Tune Tech was $2,400 favorable than the other shop. They've done many of these F-150 5.4 liter replacements, and I already trusted them, so it was an easy choice to have them take care of it. It now runs like the day I bought it (brand new) and since everything else is in great shape, I expect this truck to last me another 15 - 20 years. read more

The are honest, up-front, timely, courteous and fair-priced. They will let you know what issues exist up-front, with an accurate cost quote and contact you *before* they proceed. Also, they won't BS you with work that doesn't need done -- they will let you know if there isn't a problem, saving you money. I happen to work across the street from this shop, and had need of some mechanical help the other day. Despite warnings from coworkers who told me they were 'way too expensive' I babied our Ford Focus across the street so they could take a look. From my first chat with Shawn by phone, to Scott running up the block to bring me my car when they were done (their lot is small and the sometimes don't have room and park cars on teh street) I have to say it was a good experience. I'm not certain if $134 (plus tax) to replace the coolant pipe at the top of the radiator (which was cracked and dumped coolant all over the parking lot when I got to work that morning) is too much.. but I DO know that going there was easier than having the car towed all the way out to Lithia Ford.. PLUS they had it done before the end of the day. I'm still not sure I'd use them for any major repair work, but they were a Godsend for me the other day. read more

I have lived here in the Treasure Valley for 10+ years and I have 4 cars, 3 of which are from before the Y2K scare so it stands to reason that I have had my fair share of appointments taken up on the TuneTech calendar. Troy and David and the crew have earned and proven time and time again that this is my neighborhood shop. There has been some tough pills to swallow given that cars are essentially Money Pits, but I trust Troy and David to always steer me (pun intended) to the best solution, whatever may be affliction. There have even been times when I look down at a zero for the invoice; for standing by their work or maybe for my frequent flier miles but whatever the reason, walking out of a service station with a smile is rarely expected and always appreciated! I brought my car in with a specific complaint and Tune Tech recommended a tune up as a solution to the cars issues. Unfortunately this did not fix any of the issues I brought the car in for. After seeing my dissatisfaction Troy took another look at the car and made the proper diagnosis within 30 minutes free of charge. Came here because it is recommended by AAA and I've been a member of AAA since the early 1980's. AAA did not steer me wrong. I dealt with David, Troy and behind the scenes Pat. They quickly diagnosed my problem - fuel pump pressure misfiring - and ordered the necessary Audi parts. They were thorough and even asked to hold onto it a bit longer so that they could drive it around to make sure the repairs took care of the complete problem - they did not want any warning lights to appear after I drove the car off site. I couldn't be happier with the end result and will return to have any future Audi repairs. read more

I went to this shop due to the good ratings but feel my car wasn't fixed or diagnosed properly. I had a check engine light on in April and went to the shop and they charged me for a diagnosis which is about $50 and they said I needed a new gas cap due to the evap code they received which is about $31 when I had already gotten that replaced 6 months or so ago with a different shop. Then they informed me that my oil pressure sender was leaking which I do believe due to leaks on the garage floor and so that was replaced. A few days later my check engine light came back on again and so I decided to get it checked for free at a different shop. They informed me it was the evap code again and I told them I recently got that changed, they advised me to go back to Tune Tech. I go back and they say it's a different code it's the mass air flow sensor, I spend more than $150 for that part and labor. Then yet again I get my check engine light on again 2 days later. I did call them and schedule to have it checked again but decided I don't trust them anymore and worry they may be taking advantage and this issue will keep popping up with them. I definitely will not go there again. read more

Three friends and I were on a cross country road trip and realized about an hour outside of Boise that the air conditioning wasn't working properly (not a good thing when traveling in the middle of the summer). We went to the local toyota dealership and they told us it'd be about $200 just to charge the AC and they couldn't guarantee that would even fix our problem (it might've been a leak). Long story short, a guy there named Troy diagnosed our problem relatively quickly, and he didn't charge us for the labor to replace the part. Still ended up costing around $134 with the charge and the new cabin air filter, but it was very kind of him to not charge me to install it. Would highly recommend these guys, especially Troy. Without him, we'd either be out $200+ or we'd be roasting in our car! read more

Do not take your car here. I had the WORST experience here. Not only did they not fix what was wrong, they still charged me for replacing something that didn't fix the problem. I had to come back 3 or 4 times. The first time I called to say it wasn't fixed, I had to argue with the employee on the phone. They wanted more money from me already to fix it, but said that what they did before still needed to be done (NOT true). Like someone else said, they did work without my permission that didn't solve the problem. The employee was so rude and finally I had to basically threaten legal action at which point I was given a discount to fix the problem they never fixed but charged $250 for. That brought the total to $450 basically for some switches. Had I known those two things they did would cost $450, I would have lived with what was just an annoyance. Then they charged around $350 for something else, seemed excessive as well. The problem was never fully resolved to my satisfaction. Also, they made my horn not work at all, which I found out when I nearly got in an accident, and THEN the horn went off nonstop and wouldn't stop, humiliating experience. Cars were pulling over to the side of the road and everything. These guys are very incompetent and rip-off artists. I should have gone to Meineke. $800 later and unhappy with the work they did. I unfortunately had no one to warn me about this place so I am writing this review in order to help others and give my honest opinion of my experience here. I had to have my 2003 Jeep Liberty towed here after my jeep began smoking on my way to school during finals week of all times. AAA towed my car to that location because it was listed on my AAA account, if I would have known what I know now I would never have brought my vehicle into this place. After waiting for hours to hear from them I got a call and they told me that I needed my water pump replaced I asked them how they came to that conclusion because no one even called to ask me about what happened or what was going on with my jeep. The man on the phone told me that this was simple to diagnose. I asked him how much it was going to be he stated it would be 334.51 to be exact. I was suprised by this as we all know a water pump is not that expensive even with labor. Later that day I went to pick up my vehicle and asked him about the replacement and if he noticed anything else wrong with my car he stated that he did it see any other problems. I left and drove directly home and parked my car. The next morning I left to head out to my second final of the week and my engine light came on as soon as I left my house. My jeep was shaking as I was trying to accelerate and it was very scary to drive. I immediately called tune tech and let them know they said it could have been from changing the water pump and getting water on the spark plugs amongst other areas of my engine. I was frustrated hearing this because when you pay $180 for labor you expect things to be done properly and with care. The guy on the phone told me to bring it back in and they would look at it. Later on that day I came by to pick up my jeep and they said that there was just water and coolant that might have caused the spark plugs to miss fire when wet. They assured me that they cleaned up the area and recommended that I get my spark plugs replaced. I told them that I would rather have someone give me a second opinion. As I was pulling out of the driveway of the shop my engine light came on and my car begin to shake and the drive was very choppy....AGAIN! I was so livid that I didn't call them I immediately called another shop and the man was so nice when I explained to him my terrible experience with tune tech he offered to look at my car for free! After getting a second opinion he said that my spark plugs did have a lot of water/coolant that was spilled on them and they would need to be replaced. I was frustrated because I understand if my spark plugs are too worn and need to be replaced but if the added carelessness of the people at tune tech conributed to me having to replace them makes me so mad. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO TO DOWNTOWN TUNE TECH AGAIN. When I tried to ask questions they dismissed them or gave me a generic explanation or none at all. I felt like after I left there I had more problems to fix with my jeep. On my initial receipt there is a note that says "test drove. No other concerns found." Yeah right! When I turned my car on both times my engine light was on and it begin sputtering. TUNE TECH IS CARELESS, UNHELPFUL, AND DOES NOT COMPLETE WORK EFFICIENTY. When all was said and done I felt used from this place maybe because I am a woman I can't say for sure but I genuinely felt overcharged and taken advantage of. I never take the time to write a Yelp review but this was necessary. I want to warn anyone I can about this establishment. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake. Took my VW Vanagon in, thinking I just needed a battery and wanted AC Delco. Turned out it was my alternator, fine. I'd left instructions on a power switch needed to start it, and sliding door instructions. Went to grab a soda, came back to find a kid struggling with the door and not knowing how to start it. They did not communicate this to him. Left the van overnight. Alternator came in and did not work, had to wait an entire extra day, fine. Alternator installed, brought it home and had a "feeling" I should just look at the engine. My air intake grill I'd just purchased was gone, and the new timing gauge piece I'd just bought was laying loose in the engine compartment! This is $50 of parts not coming home with me! Spent another 40 minutes of my Saturday waiting for them to find my part and reinstall. I'd asked if they could tweak my timing while they're in there for the inconvenience. This manager rolled his eyes at me and said no, and actually shook his head as he headed out to the shop. If you want to lose parts and feel like a stupid inconvenience, go there.
