We haven't been to Tupelo Honey's in a few months. We always enjoyed their fried pickles. They have changed the recipe so it's more breading than the light delicious coating that their pickles had before. Also, the amount is a lot less than they used to serve. I had the shrimp and grits, which was a smaller portion than before, but still just as tasty! My wife had the avocado melt, which was not a melt at all. It was tasteless and just served on wheat bread that was dry and was not grilled! The service was great. This is the second Tupelo Honey location I have eaten at. The first was an older style place with lots modern music. Not run down just more wood and brass. This was more modern and a bit more quiet. Same great food. I had the Sriracha honey chicken and waffles. The server said he thought this was the best chicken and waffle option they have. They were not afraid to use Sriracha so it is a bit more spicy than some like but I thought it was excellent. There is a check in offer for a free dessert. I had the made in house banana pudding. The chip crusted tenders were super crispy The dips that came with the tenders were interesting. The bbq sauce wasn't bad but it had a flavor that made me not want to use it repeatedly. I don't like honey mustard but tried it. It's a typical honey mustard. The firecracker sauce was decent and garlicky, not really spicy. I can't tell you what it was going for, but I used it the most. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 10:30, hoping to beat the church crowd for a quick breakfast while passing through (no drinks or anything crazy). Upon arrival, we asked for a table for two. The host, annoyed, replied, "Do you not have a reservation?" We replied no-- since we had never been, we were unsure that this was a requirement. There was no one else in the waiting area. "We are pretty busy now. I'm not sure we can get you seated without a reservation. I'll have to look." After a few seconds of clicking around on the tablet, we were seated immediately. I'm not sure if she was just overwhelmed or if we really did need reservations, but she was very condescending. Our waiter was also very dry and had a similar attitude. He didn't stay at our table except in passing, and seemed annoyed to answer questions about the menu. Aside from that, the food was absolutely amazing. I got the chicken and waffles with maple syrup. The chicken looked a little dry (like sometimes southern fried chicken can be)-- but it was far from dry. This was the most tender and moist fried chicken with a great flavor as well. The waffles tasted alright, too. It was a great combination of savory and sweet. The plates and glasses were even cute and had a fun southern charm to them. There is plenty of free parking around the restaurant exterior. The inside is clean and modern with southern decor accents, from the ceiling fan to painted cow portraits. It is a little pricey, but the quality and quantity of food is great. I enjoyed my visit to Tupelo Honey though this location for me was my least favorite of the locations I've visited around the US. Our server Aspen was great. She was attentive and funny! It took 2 tries to get clean B&B plates no fault of her own however. The drinks were great though the food was just okay and I've never said that about Tupelo Honey. The gumbo tasted as if it had been heated for long periods of time over multiple days. Kinda average. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits was overly fishy something I'd never experience at one of your locations even ones that are further away from water than this on in Nashville. We had an issue where food had to be remade the manager came and dealt with it. We had a conversation and hopefully the changes have been implemented. We ordered 2 coffees, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and an order of biscuits. Our server was clearly disgruntled or not wanting to be there. She brought the coffees, no spoons to stir, a jar of 10 Splendas, 2 regular sugars, so we asked her for cream and regular sugar and before I could complete the request, she walked away. Came back with more Splendas and some cream. Still no spoons even though my husband was obviously stirring with a knife and I was stirring with my fork. The chicken tasted like there was no salt, just flour and black pepper and had a weird smell, definitely way over done, with a very small serving of syrup, maybe less than an oz. Tupelo seems to be inconsistent. 7-8 years ago it was great. Now, in 2024-2025 at different locations in the Nashville and Myrtle Beach and Ashville areas (we have visited all these locations more than once), and unfortunately we get varying service, wait times for our food, and quality of food. Recently it took an hour to get our food (4 adults) (time was 5pm and 3-4 other tables filled and plenty of workers were available. Actually the servers and cooks were dancing and chatting it up in the kitchen area- no urgency to serve. They delivered the wrong food to the wrong person and 1 person got the wrong food and waited another 20 minutes for her meal (and it wasn't compensated). The fried chicken is excellent as well as the grits. Since the first time we visited TH (2018) the portion size of the jambalaya was huge and had 3 meats. Now the portion is 1/2 the size and just 2 meats. And of course more expensive! So those are just FE examples of the good and the bad. Things have definitely changed. This is my favorite restaurant in the entire Brentwood / Cool Springs area! Cute decor and kind service. Whenever I have friends visiting from out of town, I'll bring them here for some elevated Southern food. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes (which are served over some grits and a yummy sauce), the classic chicken and waffles (their chicken in general is cooked really well), and their Brussels. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday morning around 11. It was around a 30 minute wait for a table, but the bar is open seating and full service, so we grabbed a couple of spots there! The bartender was incredible - she was polite and personable all while balancing dozens of incoming drink orders from the dining room. We ordered a few drinks to start - the "Southern Hospitality" mimosa and the "Make It Spicy" Bloody Mary. These made a nice pairing for the "Biscuits for a Cause," which is such a heartwarming addition to their menu. The blueberry jam that the biscuits are served with is particularly delicious. For entrees, we sampled a couple different versions of their famous fried chicken & waffles. I went with the sriracha honey option, while my husband ordered the country-style. The waffles had a perfect texture - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The sriracha honey was a nice mix of sweet and spicy without being overwhelming in either flavor. And of course, the chicken was expertly fried while still remaining tender and moist on the inside. We watched everyone who came in after us get served as we waited. Not really that big of a deal. What was the big deal was watching our server out on the patio letting a guest's dog lick all over her hand. For my own sake, I'm envisioning her walking straight into the back to wash her hands before she served us the rest of our food. To the food...we ordered fried green tomatoes and a barbacoa po'boy to share. The perfectly seasoned tomatoes were wonderful with the base of grits a really nice addition to the dish. My husband really enjoyed the po'boy but I thought it a bit over seasoned. Though lukewarm, I still really liked the rosemary potatoes, a nice change from fries. While we didn't order anything but water as our beverage, I would have like to have tried one of the cocktails. The hour and a half drive home kept me sober. Even though we were already full, we still opted for the banana pudding. It was rich, creamy and utterly delicious. Despite being grossed out, I'd definitely be willing to make another visit. Our waitress was fantastic today - as she was professional and responded nicely when she realized she had turned in an order that had tomatoes which I am highly allergic too. No problem, she acted quickly and had my sunny side egg dish redone. Thereafter it went completely down hill!! The cook that handled the eggs cooked them like hard boiled eggs, sunny side up we know is only cooked on 1 side and gently as to not overcook the yolk. It occurred T W I C E, it went from bad to worse! No big deal as it happens- the BIG DEAL was the manner in which the manager handled the twice made eggs. Mind you I waited 25 min's for the 2nd shot and making the eggs. Manager I recommend highly you read the below method description of how to correctly cook "sunny side" UP eggs. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Sunny-Side-Up: (they are called UP for a reason, not flipped) The egg is cooked only on the bottom side, leaving the yolk raw and the whites mostly set. The whites are typically slightly crispy around the edges. The yolk remains runny and bright yellow. Not trying to blame the customer would be a great start - EDUCATE yourself and the cook and that would make you a GREAT manager. The food tasted like cleaning products the tea unsweetened I could taste everything like a dirty kitchen. I waited and I waited and I waited for food to be terrible, but when it was time for the check no one ever asked me how my food was. No one ever asked me if I needed anything. It was just a horrible experience will never be back. This happened the last time I was here about a year ago and I was going to give them one more chance and it was the same. We came here for a VERY LATE brunch one day after being hungover. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day to sit outside. They have umbrellas and are located on the corner of a strip. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. I first ordered the acai drink, which was blended. This drink was phenomenal. No trace of alcohol taste, sweet, and very accurate to the discerption. It was one of the first acai drinks that actually tasted like acai. For lunch I had the Mac and cheese waffle with chicken. The portion was huge and definitely able to be shared. The chicken was fried and crispy. Their batter was delicious and super flavorful, it paired wonderfully with the waffle. The Mac and cheese was the best part. It wasn't too rich like a lot of places. It still had cheese and large spiral noodles but it was light. It was one of the best Mac and cheeses I've had. I really liked that the Mac and cheese was placed on top of the waffle and almost cooked in tandem with one another. It made the Mac and cheese slightly crispy.
