I'm not a reviewer who typically writes negative reviews. This is not a completely negative review but I do feel like I need to be honest about our experience. I would want to know these things before deciding to spend money to eat out at this restaurant. So first the good.... The food was delicious! Great taste and decent proportions! The view was very nice! Eating outdoors at the start of summer was a major plus. It's right next door to the Aquarium which is another perk. And now the concerns... We had a young male waiter who was not friendly at all. No smiles, greetings, "or "thank you." He didn't check on us after we received our food. He did, however, check his phone and compete in an arm wresting match. We felt uncomfortable the entire time. At the end, we did not like that they automatically assume you are paying with a credit card and charge you an extra fee on your bill. It can be removed it you agree to pay cash and let them know. I can't imagine how many people miss this in the check and pay extra money. It's a small fee but it's the principle. They should at least ask first. The restaurant has a new menu with higher prices. The online prices don't currently match their new menu prices. The difference is a couple of dollars an entree more than expected. We were excited to visit this restaurant but honestly we were disappointed. These few concerns really did outweigh the taste of the food. I hope management reads these concerns and addresses them. read more

Just wow. Very unsuspecting little spot with a view of the river walk. We ate outside on one of the picnic benches and it was perfect. It's family friendly and the food is just amazing, really one of the best Mediterranean spots I've tried on Long Island. I hope they are around for a long time, we plan to visit again soon and hopefully often, even though they are almost an hour away! Our 1 year old son who doesn't eat too well really, enjoyed all the different foods we offered him. We enjoyed several appetizers: the Turkish cigars, beet salad, eggplant salad (amazing smokey flavor), stuffed grape leaves, and the pita. For entrees we had the lamb kebab, chicken kebab, swordfish kebab, and the meatballs. All of us enjoyed every bit of food we had, fresh with very balanced flavors. Can't wait to go back. read more

Wow! I've lived in Westhampton for over 8 years and never heard of this place. So glad I found it. It is tucked away on main street. It is on the river side. Family owned and super friendly. The food is amazing. Must have is the liver! It's goose liver so it's just to die for. The food was great, and decently priced. I was really disappointed to see that pide and Lahmacun were both missing from the menu. I asked the waiter if they made them, and he told me no. However, budlight is only $2.50, and the food that they do serve was great. The turkish cigars were light and crispy. The adana kebabs were flavorful, and came with plenty of the sides to compliment. The falafel was flavorful and crispy. The pita bread didn't seem housemade and as good as I would've expected, but it was still good. The gyro meat is very good. I'd recommend the gyro platter or a gyro sandwich. It's well seasoned, lean, and savory. We shared a shepherd salad, stuffed grape leaves, and a lamb shish kebab & gyro combo plate. I think the shepherd need a little more salt; otherwise, it was fresh and generously seasoned with one of my favorite spices - sumac. The grape leaves were marinated in a little too much honey. The combo platter was very good. It was my favorite dish with the gyro meat being my favorite item in the platter. The service is quick and accommodating. First time eating Turkish food and I was very pleased. The food was very delicious, light yet satisfying. I got the Adana Kebob and my friend got the Doner Kebob and it came with 2 types of rice and a side of some beet salad of some sort. So the portion was perfect. Then their dessert was heaven! My friend and I split a Baklava and it was to die for! I would definitely recommend this place and go back again! Where to start - this is a kind of place you dream about - straight from 1001 nights. Everything was phenomenal from the tabouleh to the spicy lamb skewers to the Kunefe with the Turkish coffee. I usually don't write reviews but I had to this time-- The food wasn't that great: not sure why the reviews are good on here. The wait was so long (40 mins) just to get the food after we ordered it. There were so many bees and bugs outside. Please save your money especially if you're a vegetarian. Falafels were dry and not flavorful at all! 2 tiny pieces of falafel with salad (no dressing) all over the plate with un flavorful grilled veggies all around. The chicken shish kebabs and chicken Adana weren't too bad but it was dry, there was no sauces to go with it at all. The hummus was disgusting! I can make better hummus at home. The waitress was no where to be found. No one bothered to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. On top of it, being overly priced..they already charged 18% service fee which was posted no where that they would do that. Probably the worst food I've ever had! Great spot for lunch or dinner. Turkuaz is located right on the water for great views whether you dine inside or out. Their food is full of flavor and very authentic. There are many vegan options available but make sure to not eat the hummus since it has cows milk in it. I still don't understand why they would do this. read more

Absolutely beautiful place. The inside is very home like and comfortable. It's decorated wonderfully. You can eat outside as well. It appears to be like a backyard and the view of the water is a nice touch. The food is absolutely delicious with all the right flavors, temperature, and presentation. It was reasonable priced with great portions too. The service was pleasant. We felt very well attended and they were so kind mannered. I would definitely return here if I'm ever in the area again. Best Turkish food in NY. It's so good. The flavor and textures seem very authentic. Nothin seems to be adjusted for the American taste. We love stopping here on the way back from NoFo. It's also close to Tangers. Why would anyone eat in that cafeteria when there are so many options 15 minutes away. This place being one of the best. Shockingly rude staff. I won't even judge the food because we left because of the disrespectful staff. The man outside first told us to sit anywhere like we were supposed to know that's how they operate so we were going to sit at one of their 6 available empty outdoor picnic tables. Other picnic tables also had parties of 2 sitting at them. The employee then told us we couldn't sit there because we were just 2 people "just in case" they have groups of 6 come in and to sit at a very undesirable table right outside the door. Another man came out and he sent us into a buggy corner with a sticky dirty table. I was extremely uncomfortable and quite taken back by their attitudes over their tables so I really didn't want to give people like that my business so we got up to leave and the waitress gave a very sarcastic and loud "BYE" as we were leaving. What a nasty bunch. I have already told my friends and family who are also big foodies and loyal to the many great restaurants on Long Island about this experience so they lost not only 2 customers, but many more. read more

Looked up a place for lunch. Such a random restaurant in the middle of long Island! Service is pretty friendly and chill and the outdoor area was really comfortable. Quite a few bees lol but otherwise everything was great. Babaganoosh was sorta a mix between what we expected and hummus. Pretty tasty! But the surprise of the meal was the swordfish which was so good! More greek than turkish in our opinion lol but overall a nice lunch stop :) read more

Bees in the trap! Bees bees in the trap! This place is absolutely wonderful. The food is delicious. The outdoor patio and view of the river are wonderful. The biggest problem with this place though is all the bees flying around. What a damn shame. I told the young buck here to move the garbage can to the back of the place as that is what is attracting all of them and inconveniencing customers. Hopefully they took note as several customers had to move seats just during my dinner. I am giving this place a 5 and letting the bee thing slide, normally I would chop it down to a 4 for something as annoying as that but I'm going to let it go considering everything else was a pleasure. read more

Hidden gem!! I visited Turkey and Greece a few years ago and it has been my mission since to find a Gyro as good as I had there. Was donating some clothes to The Salvation Army next door and saw their sign for Gyro, so I decided to stop in. Spoiler alert ... I did not find the great Gyro I was looking for. BUT I did find good Turkish Food. The restaurant is small inside ... Almost like a trailer. They have ample seating outside overlooking the riverfront across the street. Picnic tables and a few round tables. I ordered the traditional Gyro which disappointingly came as a wrap. Shaved Gyro meat (thinly crumbled almost like a Philly Steak) in a grilled wrap with bagged salad mixed in and a too small side of yogurt sauce. I would much prefer a grilled Pita bread and tomatoes, onions and tsziki sauce. Meat was kind of bland (not as salty as I prefer) but the wrap was big and was only $8. Fries are $2 as a side and fairly traditional pizza shop fries. The kebobs are what you want to get here. They are expertly seasoned, come with rice and the portion is big. They have many varieties and combos as well. The menu is extensive and has explanations of what the food is, in case you are not familiar with Turkish food. They have excellent appetizers as well including the cheese filled phyllo dough rolls called Turkish Cigars which are fun and flavorful. Its kind of like a Greek cheese pie combined with a Chinese egg roll. Did not have room for the Baklava but it said it was homemade. This is a true hidden gem. It is authentic and fresh homemade Turkish cuisine in Riverhead, NY of all places. Everything was very good and I can't wait to return. Although what they call a Gyro was not actually a Gyro ... The meal was fantastic due to the fantastic kebob plate. read more

What a find! Located near the Long Island Aquarium, this authentic Turkish restaurant will leave you content and well fed. It faces the Peconic River. The service is prompt and friendly. Everything we had for lunch was delicious. The Adana kebab was perfectly seasoned and moist. The portions are generous. There is a wide selection which includes some vegetarian choices. If you have trouble deciding, you can pick a combo platter with two different meats. The Turkish tea is served in small glasses, and the staff come around frequently and refill the glass. The atmosphere is great if you can get the outdoor table. Fried liver was surprisingly good. Wine decent and generous. The lamb chops were unfortunately over cooked, dry and tasteless(no salt). Fish was nicely grilled( could use more salt) though I have to say my husband can grill them better with bronzini bought from Costco. Milk pudding was nice. Overall nice dining experience. read more
