First time here. We had lunch and it was wonderful. We were seated quickly and received first class service all the way through! Seating is limited but we timed our arrival perfectly so we waited less than 5 minutes. I had the Low Country Ruben which I highly recommend......delicious. Having had dinner at Turners before, we decided to try it for lunch recently. The ambiance is nice, well-decorated, and quiet. My husband ordered the burger, well done and it was fine--nothing special, but certainly better than a frozen burger. The chips that came with his burger were homemade and quite good. I ordered the shrimp and grits and felt they were bland and lacking in taste, flavor, and seasoning. They were missing that kick of andouille sausage or kielbasa, some spice, and the savory flavor of cheese grits. The shrimp were large and tasty. Service was fine, but the servers are dressed quite casually for a higher end restaurant such as this. Just okay for us. read more

The menu here sounded terrific so we had to give it a try! The fried green tomatoes were just okay to me. It barely had any sauce of the balsamic and olive oil which would have given it its pop of flavor so we asked for more. The shrimp and grits were interesting. I like them creamy not clumpy. It felt more like rice then grits and the jam on top was different. I love sweet and savory but it didn't give it an inviting twist that I would have loved. My hubby had the Panko chicken with the pimiento Mac and cheese cake. The pimiento Mac and cheesecake is like a baked Mac and cheese lasagna. It was the best part of his plate. The pimiento cheese made it unique. Our server made our experience not great. You can tell from the start she didn't want to be there. It was July 4th and pretty much the only open place in the area. This is located in downtown Leesburg, so parking is on the street or if you go for dinner you could park at the bank across the street. The outside doesn't look like much although they have a few tables which I assume are for outside dining. The inside is modern with lots of wood, not much decor and dark. There is a bar. They have booths and tables and seemed to stagger seating for social distancing and privacy. They have light music playing but it is relatively quiet. We had the hush puppies "first" which was served with three sauces. It was good. We also got the bread, which was like a pretzel roll, and very good, although I didn't care for the oil for dipping. I had the special, 10-oz prime rib that comes with potatoes and brussel sprouts. The prime rib was excellent. The potato and brussel sprouts were ok. Honestly I was disappointed in those, as they were bland and I feel mine at home have more flavor. Service was very good, she checked on us frequently. Reservations are recommended. read more

Turners never disappoints. They make my father in laws martini perfectly. The bread is fresh and delicious and who could resist that orange olive oil and chocolate balsamic dip? We started with the three spreads. Bacon jam is my favorite. I ordered benne-crusted tuna steak. - it was huge and cooked as requested. My wife loves the panko fried chicken. She got 3 meals of of it. My father in law had divers scallops. No room for dessert but the after dinner coffee is the best in town. Service was attentive. Just had lunch @ Turner's in Leesburg (apologies - no pics, totally forgot!) This was my 2nd visit and my two companions first... unfortunately, I "think" it will be our last. We were greeted pretty quickly and our server, Tish, was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered drinks and they were brought pretty efficiently. Our order was the "low country Rueben", the "stinger chix" and "Yellowjacket chix". The stinger chix was the best of the three. It was a huge chix breast,fried crispy and served HOT. It came with homemade kettle chips. The sandwich had the potential to be outstanding but there was so much "orange blossom honey coleslaw" it made the sandwich difficult/messy to eat. The Reuben was... meh! That also has great potential BUT if I'm at a restaurant the "claims" it's chef run/high quality - I expect better than turkey "lunch meat". So GROSS!! It should've been turkey off the breast/bone! The Yellowjacket chix sandwich also could've been better had they ALLOWeD us to trade spinach leaves for regular lettuce? Really, you can't switch a simple garnish??!! The kettle chips tasted good on the first couple/few bites then they tasted kinda stale/overcooked. Just was not impressed... especially because Tish was extremely positive and pleased with the establishment - very complimentary. Which she should be... but she oversold (in my opinion). It was our first time at Turner's Kitchen & Bar. As soon as we walked in, we could observe a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant was dimly lit for dinner and the overall noise was minimal. Clearly, we happened to make reservations for a quieter Friday night. Our server was Autumn. She was simply delightful. Friendly and approachable. Someone you would not feel nervous to ask yet another question. My son order the Panko-Fried Pasture Chicken. I ordered grilled vegetables with shrimp. Both dishes were colorfully assembled and made to perfection. The only issue my teen had, was with the macaroni. He found it a bit too dry for a cheesy dish. I loved my vegetable plate with shrimp, which I paired with a glass of Chardonnay. Definitely returning to try more of chef's creations. read more

I felt like I entered the twilight zone walking in. No masks on any of the staff, no social distancing, nothing. It's as though they live in a country where 200,000 people haven't died. I wish that country were a reality but since it's not, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Waitresses are talking to diners closely, like walking petri dishes. I asked if they would be willing to wear a mask for a high risk person like myself, and they refused. Sad to say I'm not planning on coming here ever again. read more

Upon arriving for "Supper" we were seated by a lovely hostess and she seated us at a nice table. Love that the max party seating is 4 and tables spaced away from each other. We brought our own celebratory wine and the corkage was $30! So, you might not want to do that. It was the highest corkage we have ever experienced in a fine dining establishment. The waitress appeared very put off by our voiced note of such a high corkage. And she set the tone of our service based on this. We were made to feel a bit "low class" for being surprised much less voice our opinion. The food was outstanding, no complaints at all. Large servings, just delicious. However, the menu is written in stone with absolutely no changes whatsoever. There is another part of the menu you can customize. I ordered the Tuna Q, I am not a fan of brussel sprouts, no way you could substitute for spinach or any other item avail on the custom side of the menu. Our server made the rigidity of the menu quite apparent and again we felt like we couldn't get her past the corkage issue. Almost like we were being schooled and scolded...often. We really tried to be extra nice but it was hard to turn her frown upside down. So, an appetizer, 4 meals, 1 scotch, 2 house chardonnay and corkage for our special wine came to $216 before tip. There was no prices on the bar drinks, one in our party asked how much for a certain glass of scotch and the server offered to check with the bar, again making us feel like we were asking too much of her. She came back with one price for a neat pour and another, higher price for on the rocks, $12 vs $14. I guess ice cubes are costly. Again, the food was over the top outstanding, you just have to decide if you want to put up with the rigidity of the menu, corkage shock, and a sever who could of made it a better experience. read more

We went to Turners for a personal special event with another couple. We had called a week earlier for reservations and requested a booth to reduce the noise level for our table. Request was granted and we told we could not be seated at 5:30 only at 5:20 0r 5:40 so we chose 5:40. We arrived on time and were told they were not seating booths so we were offered a table at the back wall of the restaurant past the bar etc. The strange thing is that there was only 2 other tables in use in the whole restaurant, still don't understand the seating times, and the lack of booth seating and no explanation was offered or given. My only comment on the food is that it was "PATHETIC" on all levels, service was fine, lecture on how to cut my steak "against the grain" was something I had never experienced before and I have eaten around the world. Steak was tough and grizzled and devoid of any flavor. The bread was OK. When asked if we wanted containers to take the remaining food home none of us did. This did not trigger a response from the waitress, I immediately thought this has happened before! And she was afraid to tell the "Tyrant control freak chef". Bottom line this is the worst "Fine Dining" experience We have ever had and personally I wouldn't go there again if it was free of charge. I wish I had read some of the other negative reviews before going to this restaurant, they were absolutely correct. Now after wasting $200.00 I understand why this restaurant was so empty on a Thursday night. Totally peeved especially after our guests had travelled from St. Louis to celebrate our special occasion with us. read more

Gosh, while the FRONT staff failed miserably, we walked in around noon to an empty restaurant. The hostess declares "Oh, I just seated a table, you will have to wait"... WTF? You can only seat X number a people an hour? Since there was going to be a wait, I went ahead and went to restroom, figuring we would be seated next since we were the only ones there. Come back, and as I almost step to the entry area, the hostess- says 'Oh 1 patron in restroom - you'll have to wait" Meanwhile they have seated 3 tables that came if AFTER we did. Five minutes later Hostess comes back and finally seats us. Friend and I ordered 2 cups of soup, and indicated we were going to split a Tuna Melt. Waitress mumbles that she will have to check to see if there is an up-charge for sharing a dish at lunchtime. Ends up no, because of who she asked. (???) Food was okay, not outstanding for the prices. Our waitress was great, but the rest of the experience is a horror story. When we got back to our conference, the lady next to me mentions that they were totally embarrassed when they took a guest lecturer plus 4 members of our group. Were told that they CANNOT SEAT TABLES OF MORE THAN FOUR. Again WTF? Then to top it off, as four other ladies from the same conference came in, they were ALL refused seating because they 'might speak to each other across the restaurant and disrupt other diners". Again, WTF? Don't know how this place stays in business. Everyone that I told about today's visit ALL REPEATED HORROR STORIES ABOUT THEIR VISIT, AND SAID NEVER AGAIN. Stopped in for a Saturday lunch. Hostess promptly greeted us, showed us a booth and inquired if we had been there before. We admitted to being first timers and also asked for a table as we found the booth uncomfortable. Our server was friendly and advised of 2 specials for the day. We inquired about possibly limiting seasonings due to medical issues and he warned us of further seasoning in the dish. Great help for us. We chose fried green tomatoes, oysters and shrimp & grits for our meal. Food was served in a timely manner and presentation was nice. Tomatoes were super thick, especially when compared to standard restaurants, but as others have said, they are fabulous. The oysters were darker in appearance than this New England raised person would have liked and unfortunately they tasted overcooked. We mentioned this to our server when he checked on us and he made things right by us (thank you). The shrimp and grits were different as the grits are course ground and we've always had smooth. The marmalade of apples and tomatoes combined with pork belly gave an interesting flavor that we enjoyed Located right in downtown Leesburg FL, Turner's is easy to find. They told us that reservations are strongly recommended for dinner and that they specialize in seatings for parties of 4 or less. If I could leave one star I would and this is my first negative Yelp review ever. We went to go in for lunch and were a party of 8. We were told by the owners wife they do not seat party's of 8. Having never heard this before we asked why and she said it's been their policy since they opened. When I asked if we could then just be sat at two different tables she said they do not separate parties. Which confused me. I asked her, so you don't seat parties and you won't allow them to sit separate? She said that is correct and I told someone this earlier so I don't even know why you are here. They were not busy, so it wasn't a space constraint. However, after I got to experience the rude owner I understood why they were not busy. Extremely rude and not sure what a family of five or more would do. I appreciate the response because it further solidifies your rudeness. It had been a few years since I had eaten here. This place does not disappoint! I came for a late lunch, and our server, Autumn, was wonderful. After inquiring if the chicken salad had onions, I chose one of the specials, a blackened salmon with vegetables over rice. Everything was as delicious and fresh as I remembered! Lunch, including a delicious cheesecake and mango ale was $40, including tax and tip. We have been to Turners many times. It was Valentine's Day so we expected a wait. What we didn't expect was the bar tender to be all out of sorts. she was completely overwhelmed that they had six people sitting at the bar. Instead of asking us to leave which I wish they did we received attitude. After taking our order which only five of us ordered we waited an hour and fifteen minutes only to have one drink. Two of us had split pea soup with ham. There was only maybe two pieces of ham in the soupand lacked in flavor. I had the shrimp burger, which I have had before. It was super hard as it was over cooked . My husband had the burger salad . He did enjoy the burger salad. The others had a burgers. The one person asked for raw onion which came as he was finishing his burger. We felt unwanted and very uncomfortable. There are a lot of choices to eat in Leesburg and we will not go back. I used to recommend this restaurant as I work at a busy attraction near by. I no longer will suggest Turners. read more

Being from out of state I was told Turners was probably the nicest restaurant in Leesburg, re: fine dining. I'm inclined to agree. I read some Yelp reviews prior to going and heard they were inflexible regarding menu substitutions and what not. They seemed to have solved that issue by having half the menu as "flexible" and the other half "as is." It works for me. Ginny our waitress explained to the four of us that Turners is a farm to table restaurant with locally sourced food. They have craft beers on tap with a fully stocked bar. It was tough making a an entrée decision but because it was Tuesday I got the Tuesday special which was lamb shank over wilted spinach and veggies. One of us ordered the filet mignon medium but it came out well done. It was brought to Ginny's attention and she immediately apologized and got a new one going. The reorder came out perfectly and we were given three complementary desserts as compensation. The consensus of the table was that the food was excellent but we also all agreed the food just wasn't hot enough, with the exception of the reorder. I know coordinating 4 meals to be done at once is hard but a few seconds under the broiler would have done it in my estimation. Other than that everything was great. By the way the desserts were awesome, with the chocolate peanut butter pie and the bread pudding as standouts! read more

Also met the Sous tonight. Very passionate about his food. Great sign. Staff has very little turnover. The food is very good! They use local farmers for sourcing much of their food! The chef is innovative and the plating is nice. I would say they are a $$$ restaurant in price. I find the host/hostess are sometimes a bit pretentious, making you sit to wait to be seated when it isn't necessary as they aren't that busy when we've been told to sit. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Their blue cornmeal hush puppies with three different homemade butters are to die for!!! read more

We started with the Triple Butter Hush Puppies. They were unique and delicious. We tried all the butters and enjoyed each one. My favorite was the citrus butter. My mom had the chicken salad (Deli Creator). She said it was very good but felt the bread was a little overpowering of the flavor. My brother had the 1/2 Lb Turner Burger with the potato wedges. He said you can tell it was fresh and hand-formed. The potatoes were nice not being deep fried. My dad and I shared the Petite Short Rib special. The prime rib was tender and flavorful. The slaw was mild but a nice balance for flavor. The soup of the day was black bean and it remind me of a hearty vegetable soup. The breads were fresh and soft.
