Called in and was told they don't do reservations but they "have a list" (whatever that means). Was told that we could be seated in an hour. Upon arrival (12.35 PM) we learned that not only had the hostess input the name on the list incorrectly, but had set the time on the computer for 7.30pm. I called at 11.30 AM and was told I could be seated for 12.30 PM but was notified my table was ready at 1.10 PM... What is the point of calling? read more

This place is the hype. So much hype that it typically ends up with you explaining to your out of town friend how great it is. Until you make the journey and end up sweating on the never ending line of no where to sit. Suddenly ihop didn't sound to bad and the jokes go all the way home with you. It's been more than a year since my last review of The Turning Point and I'm extremely happy to say that it is fantastic, and consistently fantastic. My family and I have been back quite a few times over the past year and every time it has been excellent. From what I can tell there was a bit of a shake up in staff as I've seen new managers working. This was a much needed change. Every single time my family and I have been to the Turning Point over the past year it has been delicious and I haven't had to send a single dish back due to overcooked eggs or undercooked potatoes. The skillets are delicious and even more so when they are actually cooked correctly every single time I order them. The staff is very friendly, even under the stress of a fully packed weekend breakfast rush. I'll keep going back again and again! read more

Was spending the weekend at the shore and decided based on the Yelp reviews to give this place a shot. It's tucked away in a strip mall so almost missed it! Was pleasant surprises on a Sunday morning to get a seat at the bar as many people were waiting outside to get in. Loved their iced coffee-big plus they offer you a to go cup and will top it off before you leave! I ordered the lobster Benedict. Serving of lobster was larger than expected and even had the claw meat and not just the tail! The bacon on it was a bit much but the cilantro and avocado made for a great breakfast! read more

Cool breakfast and lunch spot. The menu stays fresh with combinations that are not always so traditional. I try to get something new every time and it's always very good. Portions are solid, sometimes pretty darn big, depending on the item. Prices are reasonable and the staff is pretty friendly. I definitely recommend checking out the specials because the always have great options on there. Two of the things I've really enjoyed were the chicken and waffles and the spicy sausage gravy. The chicken and waffles felt more like lunch than breakfast but it was outstanding. The spicy sausage gravy has great flavor, but it is not super thick or chunky. I'd love to see a chicken fried steak with the sausage gravy on the menu at some point. My wife likes the garden frittata and you can ask to add meat to it if you like. My mother-in-law always gets an omelette, so they must be pretty good as well. We used to have to go to the diners or IHOP every time we went out to breakfast with the in-laws. I'm glad this is the new go-to. Most people in the area have tried it by now, but if you haven't, stop waiting around! read more

I've never been to the Turning Point but decided to stop on my way home from the shore. The decor and home like feel was very welcoming. Though crowded, staff was nice and the wait wasn't too long considering it was a busy Sunday morning. Our service was good and they had a large selection for breakfast. They had classic stuff like pancakes and waffles but also other selections like huevos rancheros and a few other types of eggs benedict. I definitely will go back next time I'm in the area or I'll opt to stop by one of their many other locations in NJ! read more

You don't get much better breakfast/brunch/lunch place than the Turning Point. I've been to this location in my hometown, the one in Pier Village in Long Branch and the one in Hoboken. Brick lacks the views of Pier Village, but their service, quality of food and relatively quick wait times are awesome. The Hoboken location needs an upgrade - its sloppy and dirty. TP's specials make each visit unique, and they also have a rewards card for frequent diners. Come alone and sit at the counter for the same great food and service. Don't tell my mom, but sometimes I only come home on the weekends to see my dog and eat here. read more

This place is excellent for breakfast. Just recently visited this cozy place (feels like you're in a home) for Sunday breakfast. The KONA coffee was amazing. I can never drink black coffee because of it's sourness, but this is the 1st time I was ever able to drink it because it was THAT good. The food is simply as good as it gets. The lobster benedict is wonderful. The sauce can be a little more flavorful but it is cooked just right. The fruits are fresh and so is everything else. The service is good and the menu has something for everyone. The portions are just right, not too little, and not too much where you need a doggie bag. Prices are reasonable. On our last visit my girlfriend went in to get us a table and I ran in to the store next to it to pick something up. My girlfriend was told they would not seat us until I was there so she was prepared to wait when another customer was seated as one of a party of two. When my girlfriend confronted the hostess about it, the hostess was rude and did a poor job of explaining her self. Let me start by saying that the food at the Turning Point is fantastic. But unfortunately it's nothing compared to how incompetent some of the staff is. Being a party of five I know that the wait will be longer, however while waiting for our table we were watching two hostesses stand behind a counter, texting, while there were multiple open tables unbussed. Being in the restaurant industry I know that their job is to help the waitresses along, and since there were two of them this shouldn't have been a problem. But neither one of them picked up a single plate off any table. On top of that, I watched them turn a large round table that can fit at least six into a four person table and sit two or three people on them while tables that can sit four go unseated. I went to the bathroom and I saw a bunch of servers and what seemed like a manager just chatting casually in the kitchen. Like nothing more important is going on, like their company isn't losing business. We ended up waiting 1 hour and 20 mins when we were told 45 mins to an hour. This establishment is totally unorganized. Not once did I see a manager come around and help or anyone trying to make sure things are running smoothly. I can say that after we sat, our server did very well and again the food was phenomenal, but they need to get their front end on the same level. We came on January 1st and If their goal for 2015 is for this to be their best year ever, they are probably not going to succeed. read more

We stopped to grab a quick breakfast while our daughter was taking the SAT's about an hour from home. We were sat then greeted quickly. We ordered one of many choices of pressed coffee pots while we looked over the menu. It started getting busy and our waitress took some time to get back to take out order. She actually apologized and said she got "side tracked". It was very refreshing for a server to admit they took a little too long to get back but we were not mad bc we could see she was running around. Our press pot of heaven was then served including an hour glass timer and rock candy sticks to swirl in!! I ordered the avocado toast with two eggs and asked to add spinach. It was excellent-surprisingly seasoned well and very well thought out! My wife had the French toast which did not disappoint!!! We had not a complaint at all!!! When the waitress brought us the check she apologized again and informed my wife that she spoke to the manager and our meals taken off the bill. SHOCKED to say the least! As a restaurant owner and chef (which the waitress knew nothing about) all I can say is that was a pure classy move and customer service above and beyond. If you are in the Brick area it is well worth the stop!!! We may even make the hour ride again. read more
