I'm torn on how many stars to give... It's been about 10 years since I've gone into this salon, so I was surprised to see it didn't change much. Layout, design, dryers; all the same as I remember. I went after lunch so was able to be seated quickly for my pedicure [ that's a plus ]. The chair I was in, as the others around me, definitely showed signs of major wear. The buttons for the massage remote were worn down. It worked though so that's easily overlooked. The lady who took care of me did a beautiful job. She took her time, never hurt me, gave a decent massage and painted my nails near perfectly. I would give her 4 stars, taking one off for there being paint on my skin. Overall, if she was working at another salon, I would definitely go back to her. My issue came with the price and fee. I was shocked to see that a regular pedicure was $31. I pay $43 at my usual place and with that, I get a sugar scrub, moisture mask, paraffin, and 15-minute foot massage with hot stones. The pedicure at Turning Point was your standard pedicure - no perks - with exception to the stones. I gave my debit card to the woman, and she told me it was $31. I asked if she could add a tip and she told me it would be $2 for taxes. There is a sign on the wall that says if you charge a tip, there is a $2 fee. I told her to add $8 which then would bring my total to $41. Not sure where those taxes are included in that total, but the math isn't mathing. I'm all for paying an extra fee with a credit card but most places don't charge for a debit. I don't see myself going back. It wasn't worth the cost. read more

I had to convince the nail tech to give me the shape I wanted for my nails. They are used to doing one type of nail-Golden Girls crowd. They just need to hire a trendy nail tech who does artificial nails & design. Yes some people want long nails & bright colors. Otherwise nice salon. Great with kids. I don't like leaving businesses bad reviews but this place left a bad taste. For starters the nail technician cut a few of my cuticles with the device which was painful, the first acrylic placed on one nail was so hot that I had to change the acrylic that I chose because it was unbearable, and the acrylic application was all uneven, needless to say they are absolutely way overpriced $135 for a full set and $75 for a pedicure that was less than basic. Will not return or recommend this place to anyone. Worst most expensive and painful experience I've had at a nail salon. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would: I went to this place since my boyfriends mother goes there. I was getting a hard/UV gel manicure(a little longer than my natural nail length) with a regular pedicure. I walk in and the first thing the owner notices and says is "that is a very nice ring". She then proceeds to tell me for my nails it will be $120 with the extension of the hard gel. Now I am not cheap but this price for plain solid color (no design) is insane. I noticed a BIG sign right when you walk in that says UV gel set+ free pedicure so I did not argue since I thought that was the deal. I continue to get a regular pedicure and then it is time to pay. I received multiple tickets for the services (my bf got a pedicure, no color or anything just nails cut) and the total came out to $178.00. I asked why I was being charged for 2 pedicures since mine was free since I got the uv hard gel set. The lady who did my nails asked the owner who then stated I do not get the deal because I got extensions on my nails. At this point, I have had enough and argued with them that I was paying MORE than someone getting a uv gel set and somehow they apparently get a free pedicure but I don't? I should get that and more for the price they were charging. I also pointed out it is the same product they were just adding length( a scam if you ask me). They charged me for everything and then tried to give me a $5.00 refill coupon. I told them I would not be needing it seeing as that I will never be returning. My boyfriends mother went back and asked about the free pedicure and they stated it was for someone getting a full set done not refills. I will never go back again!!! Went yesterday paid over $200 for a set of UV Gel nails. They came out horrible went back to get fix and a different person worked on them I showed him what I wanted And he also decided to do whatever he wanted. I HAD to leave but called as soon as I got home I was There already for a total of 5 hours! Told them I was Going back this am! The owner not sure of her name was very nasty with me you will see in the pictures below what she did and how she left them and told me she would not do anything else unless I paid More money! You can even see in pics how they made me bleed let alone had 2 people working on me at once then pushing massages on me and the pedicure lasted legit less then 4 min! I got my eyebrows done and the woman doing them made them so short and took so much from the middle. Keep in mind i asked for a little clean up not "take off all my eyebrow hair". New to the area but gave this place a try twice before for pedicures and eyebrow waxing. I went the day before my wedding and specifically asked to have my eyebrows cleaned up, NOT shaped! The woman took off 25% of my right eyebrow AND when I opened my eyes, there was a gigantic cockroach crawling up the wall. I was absolutely mortified but the woman tried to brush it off like it was no big deal and even tried to lower the cost of the service. I left in tears and totally skeeved out. She seemed to be in a huge rush and kept messing up the polish, causing her to dig her nails into the skin around my toes. I live in LA and I decided to get my nails done in NJ during my vacation. My cousin and I decided to try this place it was our first time . The lady that did my nails was super nice but honestly I will not recommend this place to anyone . Worst pedicure of my life. My feet were barely in the water, she did not clip my nail or cut my cuticles. The polish job was very sloppy. Some black stuff was floating around in my foot bath which was repulsive. The massage was not even on my feet- she only massaged my legs and it was for about 1 minute. I paid $90 for a manicure and pedicure only to have three nails actually lift (not break) in 24 hours. So far I've gone back twice for repairs only to have my nail tech tell me it was my fault because my nails are too long. I informed the tech I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years and have never had three nails lift off in less than 24 hours. If he had used actual glue on the three he repaired instead of spray glue I believe this level of lifting would not be occurring. This morning i woke up only to have two more lift off. I will be disputing this transaction with my credit card company. It's unacceptable to be spending this amount of money only to have this level of service and quality. Always had a good experience until about a month ago when I was told that my appointment did not matter. I had made a 6 pm appointment and was not seen until 6:30. I decided to give them another shot as they are one of the few salons I know that is open on Sunday. I walked in today and it looks like they have changed ownership. They should close and reopen as a butcher shop. My fingers have been sore for two days. The hispanic "manicurist" (Linda?) gave me a quick clipping followed by a cuticle treatment (no soaking to soften) which was fast and much too deep. At one point she looked up at me and said "hurt?" to which I replied "yes, slow down". There was no hot towel offered until my wife asked for one on my behalf and very little massage followed by an application of what was described as clear polish obviously acetoned down. I also had a discussion with the Korean "owner" on the way out as to why I was in and out of the chair in 6 minutes for the "gentleman's" price of $15 while women were getting 20 minutes of service for $10. "Policy" was the answer I received along with a smile and the words "15 dollar". It also would have cost me $25 for a pedicure vs. $20 for women. I told her I had seen women with bigger feet than mine. My wife received the same rush job. Also, there was a shortage of "certificates" posted on the wall. First walking in, much of the furniture seemed worn out and needed to be replaced. There are many colors to choose from, but I wished they labeled which ones are gel and which ones are normal nail polish. Don't recall her name, but she seemed really nice in the beginning. I however, did not hear/ understand her tell me this was a gel color, which was my mistake. She seemed to be irritated at the fact I wanted to change the color and her mood completely changed and started to rush my manicure. Going on to dry my nails, the mat that you put your nails on top of seemed to feel moist and sticky. The lady started to give me a massage, but barely felt like one and left a few seconds after. Great Place! I go every Saturday -- they do a really good eyebrow wax and the james pedicure is great! I also get the chair massage which is amazing. Not overpriced at all. they even gave me a Christmas present which I thought was very nice and showed customer appreciation. read more
