I would not think I was at a chain restaurant. I really like that they have a small menu. A lot of places that are only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch have such large menus which make it really hard to make a choice. I had the shrimp and grits's. They put glazed purple onions and this spiced honey on them with bacon bits, shrimp cooked perfectly. I shared an order of cinnamon swirl glazed pancakes with friend. She ordered the huevos rancheros. They were missing jalapeños which was a bummer and they use wheat tortillas only. She said, don't get it twisted they were still bomb. Our server listened to what we ordered and gave suggestions. They've only been open a couple months in this spot but they were very busy for a Wednesday brunch. The manager stopped by the table to make sure everything was going well. They have a lot of seating inside and out under a pergola on a patio with lots of space as well. It's bright inside with two breakfast bars on each side as you walk in. I'd like to see one open in my hometown. It was an all around amazing experience. After a long Sunday walk, we stopped into Turning Point for breakfast. As expected for a Sunday, the wait to be seated was long and once we were seated, the wait for our food was even longer. I ordered the steak, potato, and egg skillet (minus the egg for me). It was okay, not bad, but not something I'd rave about. A little more seasoning would've gone a long way. The vibe inside was nice, and the hostess was friendly, which I appreciated. It was extremely packed, so maybe others have had better experiences or different dishes that shine more. I'd be open to trying them again for lunch to see if that hits differently. One small thing: I asked for Sriracha, and the server acknowledged it but never brought it. Not the end of the world, but it would've helped the meal. All in all, it wasn't the worst, just a very slow Sunday breakfast with food that was fine but could be improved. Stafford is growing and getting more new restaurants, and I'm glad Turning Point is here. I just hope the kitchen timing and seasoning get a little tighter over time. read more

I know the restaurant is new here and they may be trying to work through some kinks as they open but as a small business owner myself I want to leave an honest opinion so they can continue to improve their service We normally get their server Cat/Kat and she knows our family and my grandkids by name and she is fantastic. They were busy today, which is understandable with the holiday weekend, but the service we got today with a server, young lady I've never seen, was just extremely unacceptable. She took our drink order and the order for my grandkids and it was 15 more minutes before she came back to take our food order We ordered one order of pancakes to be brought on two separate plates for my two young grandkids to share and that was ignored or forgotten so we had to ask for a separate plate twice after the food was brought before that was done correctly It is never good when the table behind you arrives 15 minutes after you and gets their food 10 minutes before you. And when you have to ask three times for your boxes for your leftovers. And you have to ask other servers to do things that your server does not do. We will continue coming to this place because overall we think they are a great place to come, but we were very dissatisfied with this specific visit read more

My Husband and I tried turning point for breakfast and we were very surprised with how spacious it appears inside considering how small it looks from the outside. It's BYOB (which we love), so my group brought champagne and mixed it with some of their brunch preserves -- highly recommend if you're feeling a little fancy and creative. Well, today I decided to stop for breakfast before a doctor appointment. This was my first time at the turning point in Stafford Va. First The good: atmosphere seems great. They have both inside and outside seating. My server was awesome, (sorry I forgot her name.) I liked the pot of coffee so that I could just pour more myself. I ordered the rise and shine breakfast but neglected to read that it didn't come with a meat, so I ordered that as a side. I asked that my scrambled eggs be soft and of course they were not but I still ate it. I got pancakes and potatoes. The potatoes could have been cooked just a little bit more, but all in all it was a fair breakfast. It's 50-50 for me if I would come back to dine unless Invited. It just didn't wow me. We've been waiting for this new brunch joint to open and it opened just a few days ago, so we decided to give them a try for lunch today. After checking their site, I noticed they use Waitlist, so we did this before leaving home. This was on a Thursday and our wait time was 15 - 25 mins. We got there about 15 mins later and still had to wait about 15 more mins before we were seated. I will say that it's great they use this service though, as they were busy and I can imagine they're busy on weekends too, so this is helpful! Service by everyone we encountered was GREAT! It was friendly and they were engaged with customers and our needs. The menu is basically breakfast all day with lunch options as well. Since we were there for lunch, we stuck to that part of the menu. We tried a cup of their tomato bisque and a cup of their turkey chili. The tomato bisque was ok, but the turkey chili was incredible! The flavor, spice, and texture was awesome and I couldn't tell I was eating turkey! I just wish they served a piece of bread w/melted cheese to go with these... maybe their tasty tortillas ships to go with the chili instead of bread; definitely something to go with these soups it preferred. The entrées were great too... We tried their Short Rib Italiano Sandiwich and it was outstanding! The meat in it was so fresh & tender and all the flavors were so good together... But the bread was outstanding! So soft, flavorful, and fresh - YUM!! Also tried their Seaside Jersey Club as a half and half with their Fiesta Crunch Salad and both were incredibly tasty and fresh! Again, the bread on that sandwich was awesome! Flavors were great and the ingredients were fresh!! Again, our service, provided by Sallay was awesome!!! She kept an eye on us, stopped in regularly to check on us, and was engaged with us the entire time! I was lucky enough to get an invite to their friends and family soft opening, which was really exciting, because brunch is my favorite! Myself and for friends came in to eat the Sunday before they opened to the public. From the moment I walked in, everything was beautiful and clean and every employee was friendly and patient. Our server, Cat, took GREAT care of us! She did her spiel perfectly, yet was still personable. As we were ordering drinks we noticed there was no alcohol offered! That's a deal breaker for a few of my friends, but then they explained their BYOB policy. If you're over 21 you can bring in your own beer, wine or champagne and order a carafe of orange juice if you need a mimosa. That's AMAZING! Most places are charging over $10/ brunch cocktail, so this actually saves you quite a bit of money! I will say, they do not have ice buckets to keep your beverage chilled, but that's fine by me! Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the cornbread French toast with berries, the avocado toast (we added pickled onions, bacon and goat cheese) and the smoked salmon platter. There were no capers on the smoked salmon platter, which was fine by me, as i dislike them but one friend was saddened by it. For Entrees two of us got shrimp and grits, two of us got steak and eggs, and one of us got the healthy fit meal. Let's start with that one: it looked healthy AF. one comment was that the veggies were well seasoned, but the eggs in the omelet had no seasoning. The steak and eggs was actually made with short rib -- anywhere I go, if short rib is on the menu, I'M HERE FOR IT. It can't with greens and a citrus dressing, but I opted for a fruit cup instead. It was So, so good! I'm used to short rib that is so tender it falls apart upon your fork, and this was not that. Once I was chewing it did fall apart quite easily, so that was good. It had tiny peppers in it, but they were mild. I thought the were cherry tomatoes at first! The shrimp and grits was a cheddar grit with shrimp (no tails!) And caramelized onions on it. It had a side of cornbread and Sriracha hot honey to drizzle upon any and everything. Phenomenal. One of the best shrimp and grits I've tasted! For beverages we got cold brew coffees, cold pressed juices and orange juice to make mimosas. Everything was honestly so damn good that I KNOW I will be back, and soon! In fact, one of the friends I brought with me went back four times that same week for the shrimp and grits! This place is amazing, I highly recommend to any and every body! read more

For me, this was a very nice breakfast spot where I could just chill. It's not very large; restaurants over in Embry Mills don't take up a lot of space (gotta save room for Buc.ee's, right? ‍). But it's nicely laid out to take in small groups and those flying solo. Service was great; I caught Andrea on her 2nd day...she did a great job! I had the Wilbur skillet w/a toasted & buttered English muffin, a real tasty little fruit bowl and coffee. And not just any coffee. They have about six different types of international coffees all of which come to you with a real-sized mug and a full French press, steeping your choice of coffee grounds in boiling hot water just waiting for you to press & pour when you're ready. Hey, first time for everything...I gave it another 5 minutes and commenced to enjoy a pretty nice blend of the Jamaican Blue Mountain. Very much on point. All in all, I'll be back. The second time we dined here for brunch had some positives and negatives. The food is good and worth a weekend breakfast to get out of the house. There isn't a reason to go here based on the menu unless you like French-press coffee enough to pay quite a bit for it. Between Fredericksburg and Stafford, there are some very good restaurants focusing on Breakfast and brunch. Turning Point has the menu to support being part of this group but today was a bit disappointing when it came to service. Not our server's fault as it appears to be a management issue as they are still training staff. It was noticeable that there's a lot of wasted energy. Several hosts seating people with no other responsibility. One person simply walking around setting out silverware. Nobody really bussing tables. Basic restaurant management recognizes that you never leave a space without accomplishing a task. If you seat someone, grab plates or fill a water glass on your way back. If you are a server, deliver/pick up a check between delivering food to another table. Hands are always full. It moves tables and increases sales. Our server let me sit at the table for over 20 minutes before bringing the check. My family went to the car as we dined outdoors and it was a little chilly with the breeze so I just patiently waited for them to eventually bring the check. We were told the wait was going to be over an hour for two people, however we got very lucky that two seats had just opened up at the bar. The service was indeed very slow, but it was expected as this was probably their busiest time. Again, it's a new restaurant and staff is still getting into a rhythm.The menu has ample variety. The one big corrective advice is to the kitchen. It's a breakfast/brunch place, and every plate at our table had overcooked eggs. The over easy eggs were medium. Poached eggs on the Benedict were hard like hard-boiled eggs. The medium eggs were also hard. Servers are clearly a team and working hard to make sure every table had a good experience. It's new to Stafford. From the start, I noticed the host staff was very professional, welcoming and appeared to take their job seriously even through the chaos of a Saturday morning rush! I've been several times on weekends and it is always pleasurable to check in with the hosts! They know how to handle even the most difficult of guest walking in (this world is just evil with the way some people just feel entitled, and speak to teens any which way!) But the times I've been waiting for our table, I'm taken back in a positive way, at how teens can handle grown rude adults in a professional and respectful manner! I went to the new Turning point in stafford Virginia in the Embry mill town center. The staff are absolutely amazing, they are happy and energetic. They get along with each other and appear to enjoy working together. It changes the atmosphere and is definitely a mood changer in a good way for guests. My attendee was Andrew. He is the sweetest young man and very attentive. The manager Jessica, who was very polite and welcoming came around to each table to assess the quality of service. She spent time greeting the guests, and it didn't take away from the timely service of food coming out. We received our special drinks within a matter of minutes of ordering them. I ordered the "Key West shrimp" omelet with a side of cheese grits and it came with buttered English muffin, my husband ordered the "western" omelet with potatoes and English muffin. The food came out in less than 15 minutes of waiting. The food was steaming hot and needed a little blow before eating every bite up to the end. I don't know about the average person, but there is nothing better than hot food and a good cheese pull down to the last bite. The English muffins were even soft and warm at the end of the meal. I had to ask myself if I enjoyed so much because I was so hungry, or if the food/service was actually that good. It was actually that good. They will definitely get more of our money really soon.
