Being a frequent customer of the original Turquoise in Great Neck, I was very excited when it reopened closer to my neighborhood, albeit in the form of a fish only rstaurant. While the fish was equally delicious, the restaurant lacked the warmth and excitement if its predecessor. At first I wrote it off to different personalities of the management but, more and more, it became apparent that it is because of a truly apathetic attitude towards its clientele. On our last, if not final visit, in a restaurant which was perhaps filled to 10% of capacity, it took many attempts to have the server come to our table. We had to wait over 40 minutes to get our entrees and almost equally as long to get the check. During all this, the owner, who in the beginning used to stop by each table to personally greet the diners, was sitting at a table deeply immersed in his cell phone despite all the head swiveling going on around him. It would be a shame to lose this restaurant from the neighborhood. I hope they start paying more attention to their customers before it's too late. read more

Good kosher fish restaurant. I highly recommend getting the whole fish dishes. The salads are good as well. The filet fish dishes are a bit small in portion size. The service is average with waiters that know the menu well. My only warning is that this restaurant is very much on the expensive side. Be prepared to spend as much as you would in a fine kosher stake restaurant ($130 - $150 for two people with desert). read more

I love Turquoise... the food is fresh, delicious and well-prepared. Service is very good and the restaurant itself is warm and inviting. They have a passion fruit wine that is really refreshing. I recommend the Hamachi carpaccio, St. Peter's en pappillote, and the Zion whole fish in curry. Also the small salads, pickled vegetables, beets, etc. are delicious. read more

This place has a great ambiance and service. Their food is delicious. I loved the Sea Bass (my order) and the Talipa (my wife's order). We actually both tried both. My only issue was that her portion was about 1/3 larger (4-5 pieces) than my own (one medium sized piece) and my price was slightly higher. I can chalk that up to the price of the fish though. The Sea Bass was so buttery, soft and was cooked very well. Sides: They unfortunately ran out of the Rosemary Potatoes, but did substitute french fries (they were quite good and did help the 'fish and chips' i wanted.) We also tried the asparagus as a starter. It was pretty good. Our waitress was polite, patient and quick, and I saw her do the same at other tables. She even made sure to put in our appetizer order while we were contemplating what to order for our main. The timing was great. Dessert: Three words: Whisky Chocolate Cake. The slice was so yummy and thick, we finished it off. This place...4/5 stars/ We actually had NO leftovers. p.s. There were a few birthday tables around us, they had music played and when they brought the cake with a candle to each table, the server carefully held a glass upside down with the lit candle until it was down (presumably so it would not go out/burn someone.) read more

Came here for an early dinner and were very pleasantly surprised. We had several fish and pasta dishes. The fish dishes were very creative and delicious. Desserts were super. I had the seared tuna and it was perfectly done. Service was great - the waiter was very patient and helpful. This place is a very high-quality, reasonably priced Queens restaurant. The manager was very accommodating when we placed our reservations and made us feel welcome when we arrived. We will definitely go back to this place. A very pleasant experience. read more

I went there last night for the first time. The atmosphere I give 5 stars The food I give 5 stars The service I give 0 stars. It was very open, bright and not noisy which was nice. I ordered the sushi sandwich which was spot on, the best I've had. I also ordered the St. Peters whole fish which was cooked to perfection and lots of flavor. The only thing that killed the entire night was the service. I had asked for more water which our waitress forgot. I waited 20 minutes for a refill of water to the point where I walked up to ask for a pitcher of water. One of my friends ordered 2 rolls of sushi which he waited 20 minutes while everyone at the table received their meals. He had to cancel his. And every time I looked over our waitress was on her cellphone the whole time. Would I recommend this place to a friend...if they want kosher fish, sure. My three dining companions enjoyed their meals very much, but I was less than satisfied. Thus 3 stars where I would have given only 2. I orders the salmon roll as a starter; fish was fresh but not cold enough against the rice. My main was the sesame-crusted seared tuna, ordered rare. It did come rare, but it had no flavor at all and was somewhat watery. That says "recently thawed" to me. Disappointing. Service was pleasant and fine, but they should think about adding at least one more server. I'll give it another try and choose other dishes, hoping for a better experience. read more

WARNING: There is one thing on the menu which is NOT CHOLOV YISROEL. On (only) one of the 4 menus we received, by the "Zucchini Chips" appetizer there was a tiny sticker saying "not cholov yisroel". Although the mashgiach said they are fried separately, nevertheless there kitchen contains cholov stam and so do all the kelim. read more

my husband and i ate about a third of a beet and goat cheese salad. we sent it back because we thought it tasted salty and acidic, and we chose another simple salad. the waitress brought back a small salad since we ate half of the first one. that shocked me. i hardly ever send anything back, but if i do, no restaurant replaces it with a half a portion. i thought that was strange. the ambience was nice. the restaurant was half full, but not very loud. there was only 2 waitresses and 1 bellboy, or rather a bellgirl, and it was obviously not enough. they all looked overworked and it was hard to get ,y waitress's attention. the whole branzini cooked with tomatoes and onions was cooked nicely and tasty. the rice was overcooked and the steamed vegetables were quite bland. we also ordered the flaming tabouli cheese as an appetizer. i didnt taste any brandy on it at all, and what the heck are you supposed to do with a plain hunk of cheese? they should serve it with some crackers, olives and grape tomatoes...make a little mediterrean platter out of it. the homemade cake was delicious...i think they should add a little whipped cream with fresh fruit to it for some decoration. they also took a long time to get our change from the bill back to us (hello? its a restaurant. how do you not have cash?) and they automatically charged more than 20% for the gratuity to the check.i didnt like that either. read more

I must admit that I am now in love with the St. peters filet, it was very well prepared and the taste was amazing. Their appetizers and service were amazing also. I highly recommend this restaurant. My family, friends and I came to celebrate my birthday back in December. I called in to make reservations for 20 people. They had the table ready for us, there were only two waitress for the whole place which was totally packed! The food wasn't bad, although they did take a while to bring out some of the sushi and main courses. Also messed up a few orders but thankfully they were able to fix it. The pricing is expensive, for queens. If I was a large party in the city I would understand the reason why but the bill just for dinner was too much. Maybe with a smaller crowed it would be better. I recently went to this location, and I was pretty impressed. The setting is very intimate, it is a great place to bring a date. I ordered the broiled salmon with potatoes and vegetables and I also had their eggplant salad which was amazing. The staff was very friendly and service was fine as well. We actually went to their first restaurant that was in Manhattan about eight years ago it was very nice and served meat as well. This restaurant is quite different although still very nice. They are known primarily for their fish dishes. I ordered the Seabass and my wife ordered a couple rolls of sushi both meals were prepared very nicely and the food was exceptionally tasty. The only complaint I have is that the service is a tad slow and the prices although reasonably high for Manhattan are quite high for a residential neighborhood in Queens overall the food was excellent the service was good prices slightly on the high side I would recommend it. read more

Turquoise is a local restaurant that my family and I have TRIED to enjoy time and time again. I can't even count the number of times we've had to send food back to be HEATED. Shouldn't meals come out already hot? The owner is incredibly rude, snobby, and quite unwilling to accommodate his customers. The menu is entirely overpriced for food that is simply subpar. I've seen at least three roaches at various places in here and I can only imagine what the kitchen must look like. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy and smell of urine. They have been in need of a good bleaching every time I have gone...and believe me, I've really given this restaurant more chances than I should have. The one saving grace for this place may be the staff, who are some of the friendliest and most genuinely caring servers I have ever met. The large parties often reek of marijuana which is upsetting for a mother who is trying to raise upstanding, moral, and religious children. It seems as though the owner is too absorbed with his "mafia buddies" to run a legitimate, family-oriented restaurant business. It would be quite the shame if this place continued to get any sort of business which would allow it to remain open. I would be ecstatic if new management took over. One that took pride in the food quality, culture of it's customers, and had respect for younger family members. The current owner has an interest in one thing: your money in his pockets. Your satisfaction, unfortunately, is not part of the equation. I will not be returning again and I hope others heed this warning and enjoy their evenings elsewhere at classy restaurants deserving of our patronage.
