I especially liked the Tannat and the Montepulciano for reds and the Trebbiano for the white.

I've visited several times now, and Portree has earned a spot on my very short list for a wine club membership. Every single visit ends the same way--I leave with at least three bottles because it's almost impossible to choose. I've yet to taste a wine here that I didn't genuinely enjoy. Seriously... every wine on the tasting menu is excellent. The food bites are also absolutely worth ordering. They're thoughtfully paired, delicious, and make the tasting experience even better. What truly sets Portree apart, though, is the hospitality. The staff is warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable without ever being pretentious. They remember us every time we visit--even where we live--which makes every tasting feel personal rather than transactional. The tasting room is beautiful, relaxed, and inviting, making it easy to linger over one more glass. In an area filled with wineries, Portree consistently stands out for its exceptional wines, genuine hospitality, and attention to detail. If you're exploring the Texas Hill Country wine trail, make Portree Cellars a priority rather than an afterthought. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Fred area now features several wineries showcasing non-Texan styles--including Coordinates (South African) and Calais (Texas grapes with a French influence). Be sure to read up on the fascinating family history behind this winery! We sampled a variety of their reds, and every single one was full-bodied with its own distinct personality. The Cab Black was highly complex with lovely hints of oak. Their Chianti, the Costaveccia, was a traditional, high-end Chianti --dense yet smooth, and something I can easily envision pairing with my Sunday sauce. Another favorite was the Nero d'Avola, which drank incredibly smooth with a perfect balance of fruit and tannins. We were so impressed with their wines that we left with several bottles and a new wine club membership. The tasting room itself is bright, cool, and comfortable, complemented by a great patio, a spacious members' area, and a large function hall for events. Service throughout our visit was exceptional; the knowledgeable sommeliers expertly guided us through our five tastings. If you are a fan of Italian wines, then do plan a visit to Andreucci.

The owner Tony came over to our group and took us to a table right away. He explained the menu and where the wines come from in Italy. He gave us the whole story (including his own story) and we literally loved him! But also....these are the best wines...because they are from Italy. Beautiful TX setting, but great Italian wines, yes please! I can't wait to go back here. Tony made out experience above and beyond special. By the end we all hugged him on our way out. After our tasting in the dining room, we had a glass on the patio until they closed. I also bought a bottle of Montepulciano to go. I would totally consider joining this wine club if I could visit often. 5 star experience. Great italian wines and even better people!

The warmest atmosphere and welcoming environment from the minute we walked in. The food did not disappoin. The fresh warm bread, delicious shareable stuffed mushrooms, and then the generous portion entrees all hit the mark. Each entree had a melt in your mouth finish and the flavor was outstanding. We can't wait for the grand opening in about a week so that we can head back and taste the other delicious items on the vast menu. Don't miss out on this! I would be remiss if I didn't mention their fabulous wines as well. Last evening we enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc. We can add that to our list of favorites from Singing Water. Great Vineyard, Frustrating Food Experience…read more This was our first visit to Singing Waters Vineyard, and the property itself is absolutely darling. The setting is beautiful, the staff at the vineyard were friendly and welcoming, and the wine was tasty. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and time with friends. However, the food truck experience was a big letdown and honestly the main reason we're hesitant to return. I paid $12 for a hot dog combo (pictured)--just a single hot dog and a small bag of chips. That price felt excessive for what we received. The kids' burger was $8 and was tiny...about the size of a quarter dollar with melted cheese and chips. The value just wasn't there. What made things worse was the service. Our friends ordered the exact same food right before us and received theirs much earlier. We waited about 40 minutes longer for the same order. It was frustrating, and it did make us wonder if my earlier comment about the hot dog price being extreme played a role. The kids were all still hungry. The vineyard itself is lovely and worth visiting, but I strongly recommend reconsidering the food truck setup...either pricing, portions, or vendor choice. The food experience didn't match the quality of the venue, and it definitely affected our overall impression.

Bending Branch produces some top-notch wines and Bourbon! The winery is beautiful with multiple rooms, from high tops to comfy chairs. There is also a large patio that has some shade. They have a great family story (check out their website) and a unique way to produce bold wines. Being Kentucky natives, their bourbons are full-bodied and range from great for an old-fashioned to smooth as silk, straight up delicious. We enjoyed our red flight tasting, and yes, their Tannat is superb. Both their 2022 and 2021 Estate were complex, not overly fruity and rich. Their Tempranillo is beautifully balanced with some cherry notes and a fine leathery finish. I did sample their high-rye bourbon and was impressed with its smoothness. So impressed that a bottle now sits in my bourbon cabinet at home. This bourbon is easily sipped straight up or with a single ice cube. Bonus: If you do visit Bending Branch, take a short drive to downtown Comfort. There are some cool stores, and you have to check out the historic Giles Hotel. You can access their beautiful courtyard, and we were told by multiple folks that their breakfast is awesome. We are planning a return trip to check out the other wineries in the area and stay here.
