Nice location on the south end of Siesta Key on Little Sarasota Bay. Very colorful and lively atmosphere, decent service and slightly above average menu, but not all that special. The restroom could have been a lot cleaner. The Lobster bisque is very good. The drinks are average. We are usually a huge fan of this place but today we were really let down. Typically very nice fast service, but today we had to ask for our server multiple times and had to ask for more drinks. Great location We stopped in for their Sunday Brunch. It is the off season and we were pretty late, so we got right in. Our host, who was also our server, was a happy person who did a good job. The brunch menu listed both breakfast and lunch items for the quite reasonable price of $9.99. My first choice was a combo that consisted of eggs and a pancake but at the last minute I changed to their Turtles Blueberry French Toast. It was fine but I did regret my switch. We sat outside and had a great view of the Intercoastal Waterway. It took a little too long for our food to arrive but that isn't so bad if you are happy with where you are at. read more

Great Sunday brunch at a terrific price. We visited for dinner this time and it didn't disappoint. I got a tuna steak it was cooked perfectly for me. The dinners come with a starch and veggies they also didn't disappoint. I ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms, they were the perfect size of cheesy goodness! This is one of the places on the island that serves bread before the meal too. I wanted to love this place, but the food is just average at best. We stayed at Fisherman's Cove directly across the street and made this our last dining experience in Siesta Key. The view is spectacular and directly on the water. That is the best thing I can say about our experience. I ordered the Coconut Mahi Mahi, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The presentation did not make it any more appealing, unfortunately. The fish was ok, the vegetables were mushy and the potatoes were different than conventional mashed potatoes. The husband had the scallops which had a very different flavor, fries and a house salad. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but we were not impressed and would probably not return. Had lunch here earlier today with a nice view, sat in the back outside, really enjoyed it! This restaurant was close to our condo that my family and I stayed in, was nice having a close place to eat at. I got the grouper sandwich fried with fries and I was happy with my meal, very tasty with fresh tomato's and lettuce! Turtles is my absolute favorite spot on Siesta Key! It overlooks the bay and no table is a bad table. Turtles features indoor and outdoor seating, with part of the outdoor covered. The food is AMAZING and so affordable for the portions given! Drinks are great too and the happy hour specials are great. If you are in the key - this is a must! We had a group of 26 and the service was fanominal. The food was ok. The Key lime colada was perfect. I wasn't impressed with the crab bisque. Great spot for drinks and apps. View was awesome and we got to see a rainbow over the water and dolfins having a feeding frenzy. read more

Loved the house made margarita and the bartender was very prompt. I ordered the bang bang chicken. It was prompt but chewy and slathered in sauce that tasted like mayonnaise. A couple sitting next to me were very rude!!! They sat for 2 min then went to the other side of the bar announcing that side was the "fun side". The other patrons on that side said "I can see why". I didn't do anything other than make room for them to sit at the bar. We've been to Turtles every year for the last 10 years. It's an average good restaurant that has a good selection of entrees but its selling point is that it is right on the Intracoastal Waterway. We arrived a bit before 6:00 after a very long day, flight etc. We got right in (a surprise since there is usually a very long wait). It was a disappointment. We were given 2 menus for 4 people, and it took 2 requests to get 2 more. Drinks were wrong; a margarita requested w/o salt came loaded with it. My Cosmo came with sugar, something I have never seen anywhere else. I sent mine back and my daughter wiped the salt off her drink (which really didn't fix anything). I ordered the stuffed shrimp. It was good but barely warm. 2 others in our party ordered the Argentinian Scallops scampi special. The scallops were rubbery and tough; just awful and an absolute waste of money. We told the waiter when he finally came back; he said "Gee I'm sorry about that!" and left us with the check. Would not recommend. Maybe lunch would be better. read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and decided to go to Turtle's for our anniversary dinner. We were looking for a nice place with outdoor seating and a good view. We got everything we were hoping for and more! The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was so friendly and helpful (shout out to Mayela!). I'm still dreaming about their mashed potatoes.... In regards to covid - they were very diligent with cleaning, wearing masks, and spacing out their customers. They even had little spray hand sanitizers at each table - such a nice touch! We felt super comfortable the whole time we were there. Just tried this place based off family recommendation and we were not impressed. The view of the bay is pretty and my margarita was good. Service was lacking and it took someone 15 minutes to acknowledge us. I ordered the scallops and they were small and so fishy tasting that I spit out my first bite and didn't eat the rest. The waiter noticed and took it off our bill. The kids pasta with tomato sauce was also bad - so much so that it also went uneaten. No credit given for that. My husband was brought a tap beer that was so skunky he couldn't drink it and had to switch to a bottle. His salad was okay. Definitely will not return. read more

Excellent food--high quality and delicious. We loved this place. It is on the more quiet part of Siesta Key at Turtle Beach. All the seating is a beautiful view overlooking Little Siesta Bay. I had the sea scallops and thought they were delicious. My husband got the filet and thought it was excellent. We want to try the lobster bisque next time. Drinks were good. In my case the food was all cold, hers was all the same tasting and the scallops were rubbery. Say for a good while with no refills (we never did get any). Despite the hostess trying to convince me to take an inside table, I was able to get an outside table for my family. Walking to our table was fantastic, the view is beautiful. Once at the table we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic server who seemed to think we were a burden rather than paying costumers. I ordered blackened grouper and my wife ordered coconut crusted mahi mahi. The grouper was heavily over seasoned and the texture of the fish gave a sense of less than fresh fish. When my wife asked our server about the dish, she replied by saying "if you like coconut you'll like the fish." The potatoes and vegetables that were served with both dishes were heavily seasoned, almost inedible, and are clearly prepared WELL in advance of the dinner service. The best part of the meal was the children's mac & cheese and the fries that came with the children's fish and chips. (Don't get the fish, doesn't taste fresh at all.) He remembered our order and provided accommodations if we wanted something that didn't come with our dish. I got the Caesar salad with shrimp, and it was delicious. Although I would have to recommend for them to start putting the salad in a bowl rather than the plate. It was extremely messy and the lettuce kept blowing away outside. Had extremely unfortunate experience (worst ever) Took family to Turtles which we've been going to for about 20 years. Two of the meals completely un-edible, four (4) below acceptable, and a top shelf margarita that seemed to have no tequila and only 'sour mix"? Complained nicely to manager as to not cause issue with other patrons and asked for full credit as family would just walk out and forget it ever happened. Zeke Ortega refused full credit and requested that I pay for the four (4) meals that were below acceptable and the beverages that we didn't even drink. I decided not to make an issue and paid the $88.04 I asked Zeke if I could speak to an owner and he said no they have 10 but went and got me his business card. He told me to send the company an email which I have multiple times with no response to date with the attached picture of a Salmon BLT that had skin left on it. I bit into that sandwich and gagged at the table but didn't cause an issue. You would think they could simply credit the $88.04 but I guess they prefer negative reviews? read more
