We had a girls afternoon of wine tasting planned and wanted to start the day off with a brunch. Each of our meals were less than $8 and left us full for the day's activities. I'm very homesick for Texas and the coffee shops I used to frequent. I am obsessed with coffee shops for the artsy feel, and the patrons who also appear to be hard at work on writing, my past time. So before I went to the Warwick Drive In, I stopped by here to write an article. I am a little annoyed with the parking aspect of it, but I guess I need to realize that not every state has stores with parking. (I don't know, seems a little fucking basic don't you think?? Ah, the differences in life are difficult to adjust to.) But it was a short walk from the spot I got. I wish they had better AC in there, but after I sat for a few minutes, I cooled down. There was a show going on that night so I had to move from my seat and then later they were stacking tables directly in front of me. I get it, it's business, but it annoyed the hell out of me. When I pay $2 for some random drink, I'd like to sit down and enjoy it! Not be told "you gotta move." Oh well, I still like the place. Had the same cozy Texas coffee shop feel that I long for. And the prices are great. Be back again, and hopefully I'll get to sit undisturbed too. read more

The Tuscan Cafe is a place for hipster cool trendy people to go. They have a lot of seating so if you have a book club or something it is a great spot to meet. They have beer and wine and a great menu of non vegetarian and vegan items. I am not a vegetarian and I always order their fake chicken burrito...Really good! We grabbed a coffee and dirty chai latte on our way out of Walkill. Not bad for a little town coffee shop. I'm usually pretty picky with coffee, so I just got the chai with espresso. I went here for lunch with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The menu for lunch is very small, basically it seemed like most everything was the same minus the way it was served, as in salad, wrap or sandwich. I have no idea why its called the Tuscan Cafe, as none of the food is Tuscan. We sat outside which is a nice touch for a beautiful day. The seats were uncomfortable though, all metal patio furniture. The food took forever to come out. I had the turkey Reuben and it was very small and very greasy with almost no turkey on it, maybe 2 slices absolute tops and next to no dressing on it either. The sauerkraut was about all you could taste. The drink I took from the cooler, a Dad's brand root beer was flat as well. My friend had the grilled Cajun chicken wrap and it barely had any chicken it and she said it didn't taste good either. For a drink she had a flavored iced tea they make at the restaurant and it again barely had any flavor, barely even tasted like iced tea. Both my sandwich and her wrap were served with a couple of tortilla chips and some bagel crisps, which were the best thing on the plate. An employee will bring the food out to you but you're expected to bring the dirty plates and silverware back inside and clean the extra food off, just like a Panera bread setup, except they make no mention of this at all and when my friend went to bring her plate back in was told somewhat rudely that where she put the plate wasn't the proper spot for it but there wasn't any spot labeled on where to put them. For what you get the price was high, about $10 per person. For that kind of money I would rather go well, pretty much anywhere else. Maybe their breakfast and coffee is great but I would be very hard pressed to go back even though they're only 15 minutes from my house. read more

I used to visit the tuscan to see the local bands play, but the food is also really good. I'm really a fan of how many vegetarian options they have. I think out of all the sandwiches I've tried, the best one may be the guacamole sandwich, which includes tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. The bagel chips are also great to munch on! read more

A place that looks like a true 'dive' must be that good. Best coffee shop in Warwick with espresso drinks topping the list versus any other place in town. Food is not complicated and the prices reflect good value. Vegetarian options are to be expected with a clientele that sports visible piercings and spacers to go along with the smoking of the 'organic' American Spirit cigarettes. The 'bohemian' nature of the place can be overlooked for the best espresso drinks in town. Minus 1-star for the drab atmosphere = 4-stars. read more

Great place. Good selection of beers, coffees and the meals are not huge but very good. I got the chicken wrap and an order of the chicken nachos. Really good. The lady behind the counter was very nice. Place your orders before sitting down. Enjoy the music. They have wifi and several people were there conversing and playing around on laptops. If you want the BEST COFFEE in town, you go to the Tuscan Cafe. They serve Deans Beans Organic coffee not some crappy gas station coffee that other places serve. They also do their own baking. Going to the Tuscan Cafe is like going home: you're comfortable, well-fed, and welcome. When I first started going to the Tuscan, it was to see local bands play or for Movie Night. I'd get a fresh cup of exotic tea or coffee, grab a freshly-baked treat, and retreat to one of the comfy couches to relax. It wasn't until my ninth or tenth visit that I realized they also served meals. Curious, my friend and I went for lunch and tried it out. The dishes vary from semi-traditional to vegan to just plain delicious, and usually whatever you get is served with their scrumptious, home-made, extremely crunchy bagel chips. Immediately, we were hooked. We usually get the wraps, but they offer breakfast foods and sandwiches, too. As others have mentioned, the wraps are never soggy, and the ingredients are absolutely fresh. Did I mention the bagel chips? They're good, too. Don't miss munching on those! Besides the great food, baked goods, variety of drinks, and desserts, what makes the Tuscan shine is the staff. Everyone who works there is friendly, quick with a smile or a joke, and are extremely helpful when you're wondering what couscous is or if those delicious muffins over there are gluten-free. You don't so much feel like a customer as you do like a new (or old) friend, or maybe someone visiting their house for tea. The decor is a delightful ecclectic array of mis-matched furnature and decorations, augmented by displays put up by local artists. The Tuscan is a great place to settle down, drink some java, nibble some munchies, and play a game of chess or chat with friends. At that point of the day, it is filled with a lot of other people having meetings or on their computers and having a cup of delicious coffee (my favorite is Caffe Latte with skim milk...they still manage to make it creamy). I was very much in the mood for a burrito and at the suggestion of the counterperson I went for the Buffalo Tofu burrito. It was very tasty. All the flavours were great. It had just enough kick and the guacamole was top notch. I liked that it was cut in half and very manageable. It didn't fall all over the place like some burritos do. Also, it seems like most of the time burritos are uneven. For instance, all the guacamole is in one section or something like that. The contents of this burrito were very nicely distributed. That shows it was made by someone who knows how to make a burrito. There were numerous coffees available and I can't remember exactly what type I had but it was very good. I like my coffee black, but a lot of the time coffees just aren't good black. This coffee was very good black. In fact, i was happy to find that the beans were available for sale. I purchased a pound so that I could enjoy it at home as well. The staff were exceptionally friendly. They followed up to see how everything was and asked if I needed anything else. But there wasn't any hovering. Sometimes waiters will check up on you every few minutes. That's annoying and borders on harassment. There wasn't any of that nonsense here. I also learned that the cafe is owner operated which was nice to know. I like to support small business and it was clear that these owners care about the food they put out and people they serve. I would definitely order the Buffalo Tofu burrito again or feel quite confident in ordering anything else off of the menu. read more

Very unprofessional staff at the time of my visit. They got the order wrong twice. The first mistake we brought up with them but they blamed us for it and were not in the slightest apologetic. The second mistake we didn't even say anything about because of how defensive they were about the first mistake. We ordered soup and sandwiches which came out about 10 min apart so the sandwich was cold by the time the soup came. The food was not worth the money. It tastes like cafeteria food. The sides for the sandwiches are tortilla scoops, which is bizarre. read more

This is the quintessential American cafe, with punk band shows and local artists being displayed, delicious coffee and awesome lunch fare. I recommend this over Dunkin' any day of the week. Also, try their Hummus Reuben - it's messy but delicious! I love The Tuscan Cafe. read more
