I was sad to read recent reviews about bad experiences here on Mother's Day, because I know that is not the norm for Tussey's. I believe they, like every other restaurant in the country, have been struggling with staffing issues. However, we continue to dine here every week with delight. The staff has always treated us well, whether they are busy or not. We absolutely love the honey glazed salmon and their dinner salads are exceptional. My husband always gets the creme brulee, while I have tasted all the desserts and they are all really good. My current favorite is the key lime pie. First of all I'd like to say the owner Mark is a great guy. Had reservations there today Mother's Day for 15. I had a waitress who basically called me a liar when I stated we had reservations for 15 and they were confirmed by the owner. She was extremely rude and started a confrontation with several of the women who were with me, very uncomfortable. We waited 45 minutes for a table and the waitress who took care of us was extremely rude. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks the food was served with no silverware, no condiments were brought to the table until after our food came out and had to ask for them. there. No refills on water,coffee,or soda. Again Mark is a great guy and the food is good. The wait staff however went out of their way to make sure we were unhappy! There's not a lot around my parents' place at Hummel park, so I was skeptical when we went to some new place I hadn't heard of for brunch today. But man, was I surprised! Tussey's is this cute, modern restaurant that's tucked away off of the northern edge of 680 in Omaha. You have to work hard to notice it since it's hidden behind a gas station, but it's definitely worth the effort to find it. First of all, there was a live jazz band playing for Sunday brunch. Do you know how many brunch places in Omaha have live music? I can count them on one hand. Now take away all the super ritzy places, and I'm left with Tussey's (at least, as far as I know). They do Sunday brunch buffet style. They had a few yummy things, a few bland things, but all in all it was a good choice. I personally loved that the berry syrup for the french toast had big chunks of berries in it! Awesome! I smothered my french toast in it and then dropped in a few chocolate chips, which promptly melted in the hot syrup. Delicious. The buffet spread may seem small, but it's actually deceptive, since they swap out dishes as the day goes on. We got there at 11, and by the time we went back for a second course, they had replaced 3 dishes with new ones that were more lunch-oriented. Nice! This is one of my favorite brunch places on Sunday. They have all the. Standard fare, but ramped up a bit. Delicious salads, great gravy and biscuits, boiled shrimp, potatoes, waffles and toppings, sausage, bacon, and an omelette bar. I have never left unhappy. Price: Great. About 12 bucks each for the brunch buffet. Service: Outstanding. Never saw coffee below a half a cup. Food: Delicious, served hot, fresh, and clean. I forgot about the pastries for dessert. Tussey's is right of I-680 and 40th street (AKA the middle of nowhere). While my parents live nearby, I had no idea that this place existed until my wife went there for lunch recently. After hearing about the Sundy morning brunch buffet, we decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately and after ordering drinks (mimosas which they offer in five different flavors include orange, cranberry, strawberry, and pomengranate), we were told to help ourselves. The first stop for me was the omlette maker. The ingredients were sitting out front and after waiting behind five other people, the bacon, tomato, onion, green pepper, and cheese omlette was all mine. On the way back to my seat I also picked up a mini cinamon roll, cajun potatos, and sausage. Other food included pancakes with a variety of toppings, biscuits and gravy, salad, cheesy scrambled eggs, and bacon. The food was very good especially for buffet style of which I am not generally a big fan. The only drawback was the odd taste of the cranberry mimosa but my wife enjoyed hers with pomegranate. I had the grilled bbq pork chops, they were tender the sauce was very good with a touch of spice. The dinner salad was the right size with dried cherrys spinach and the ranch dressing was very good. My wife had the big fat Greek salad it was huge with plenty of grilled chicken & feta cheese she was berry happy and full. I also had a $6 glass of wine and it was the first time in recent memory where I got a $6 glass of wine normally it's a $2 glass that they charge $6 for. I didn't have any clue this place existed until my girlfriend drug me here. On the way I'm thinkin.... Where the hell are you taking me to!! But when we got there, all was ok. I do have to mention that when I walked in the door, I was hit in the nose by a sulfur smell that was overwhelming. I dunno if they where making massive amounts of egg salad or were etching the floor in the kitchen, but it was very offputting at first. Then I looked at the menu. It was a breath of fresh air seeing all the great delights they had on there. It was refreshing to hear that some of the salad dressings are homemade. I ended up getting the shrimp poboy with homemade remoulade sauce on it. I have to say that I really didn't care for the shrimp since they were battered but the sauce was really good. The fries are really great though... Although fries shouldn't be a high point when it is supposed to be a great "chef" cooking your food. My girlfriend had the napa chicken sandwich which she loved. The waitress was kind of horrible and my girlfriend had actually called me when she was there to tell me how horrible the waitress was when she was there on a previous trip (different waitresses). For dessert we had the coconut flan, which I really enjoyed. I do believe this place has great potential... Only problem that I see is the wait staff... They really need to step it up. I dunno if they are family helping out or whatever... But they really need better wait staff. I mean when a waitress tells you that pralines are not nuts... You really need to know your menu! Good thing we're not allergic. It was more beyond that... Just not knowing what things are and a lack of enthusiasm. All in all, it was a trial experience since they just opened a few months ago. I will go back to see what they have in store, but I really hope that everything has some together by then. I hate to leave this review. I was actually going in to update my original review that I have this at five stars but I can't seem to find it so... We have been going here for well over five years but in the past year - I haven't gone. I kind of forgot why we weren't going as much on Sundays anymore until this Easter. We go every year to the Easter brunch for the past four years. 2016 Easter was the last time we were there until 2017 Easter. The brunch in 2016 and 2017 was just so-so. I would say about 2.5 stars. The service was also a bit below average. This year, thanks to my son overhearing another helpful waitress tell a table that drinks are included in the high priced brunch, we drank some good hot chocolate and OJ. All these years and I never knew!! I must admit, with the brunch already so pricey, no way was I going to spend extra on unnecessary (although much desired) coffee or juice. Plus, when considering how much we are paying, I would expect amazing food. This year - eh. The taste did not match the price. The coffee is also below average. I'm no coffee snob but with the quality food they are suppose to serve, I expect something like La Rue or better. I wish I could recommend this place. I really do. It's in North Omaha and there aren't above average/great places to eat in that area... It used to be worth the drive for those across town and those in the vicinity. Now, I'm afraid if they don't step it up they'll close doors and be just another empty space in North Omaha/Florence neighborhood. read more

I came here with a buddy the other day. Food was great, service was not. Waitress was more concerned with chatting with another table about her vacation and I watched out food sit in the window for quite a while. I understand her reasoning I suppose, two younger college-aged kids coming in and most likely going to order the cheapest food then leave with little or no tip. I get it, I serve for a living too and see this daily. Quite the opposite for us. I ordered the Italian chicken with veggies and my buddy got the shrimp pasta. Both were spectacular. Flavors blended well and everything was cooked to perfection. We had a Mother's Day reservation that was taken and even confirmed with a call back. They initally tried to seat us at two- four person tables. When we asked where the rest of us would seat they said they didn't have enough room at the moment. We told them we want to all be seated and served together, they were very rude, abrasive and even confrontational with us. we tried mentioning we were okay waiting a bit longer but they continued arguing telling us our reservation shouldnt have been made and they don't take reservation. The owner came out and eventually got us all seated. Our waitress proceeded to be very rude, impolite and short winded with us. Our drinks took over 15 minutes to come and we were never asked if we wanted refills or anything else, we even had to ask for silverware once our food came. OK, I have given them 3 chances and they have failed on all 3 trips! Service lacks proper training. The girl busing the table wiped all the food scrapes on the floor instead of her hand or a plate! There was just some guy back there slinging food and he hardly looked like a chef! But what do I know? Oh wait, I ate what he made! Trust me, it wasn't made by a chef! But it wasn't just my food, it was everyone at the table! The burgers tasted like someone had just washed dishes and not rinsed their hands. It wasn't just one burger, it was 3 of them that all tasted bad. We were going to order some onion rings but we saw when they came out for another table, they were just frozen Sysco ones! you would think a chef would make them from scratch! The rest of the people at the table didn't care for their dishes either. Someone had fish, I think it was Salmon, and they said it smelled real fishy to start with and tasted eve worse. I could be wrong on the type of fish it was. Then the Prime Rib was not worth talking about. Creamy horseradish and no fresh grated. No baked potato either! I tried it too and it was a let down! So it could be a great place, but until the owner(s) get their act together on this hit or miss place, I don't think I can go back. Had dinner at. Tusseys last night. The prime rib sounded good. It was the worst piece of meat we had had in a long time. So tough couldn't cut it with the knife. We made our first trip on Easter Sunday for brunch. Not thinking ahead, I didn't have reservations. When the hostess asked the name, I was already planning a backup plan. Instead she found us a table and from there a nice overall experience. The staff is friendly and attentive as can be when a place is buzzing, the various stations offered many healthy (and not so) options and I felt the meal was great value even for the increased price over a normal Sunday. Yesterday was our 40th wedding anniversary. We made a weekend out of it starting with the concert at Memorial park on Friday (~Free). Saturday we had dinner at Omaha Prime (~$100), then went to the Double Tree (which was where we spent our wedding night - then the Red Lion)(~$200). Sunday morning we went to the church where we were married for the Service. Then came brunch at Tussey's. Having never been there before, we had no expectations. The place was nice, clean, friendly and quaint. I had made a 12:00 reservation as I didn't want to take chances of fighting a crowd. That wasn't a problem but the place did get quite busy. The food was all good. Omelets made to order, fruits and all the breakfast trimmings. My wife had to remind the waitress about our drinks so they were free. We were not looking for extravagance, we had already spent a bunch of money. I can't speak to menu items but Sunday brunch hit the spot. Mark came out from behind the counter to greet us, welcome us and took pictures of us (for us). He will not brag about what a great photographer he is but he is elbows deep into that kitchen. We stopped by here for lunch after the Winter Quarters Center right around the corner after the girl at the front desk recommended it. We needed family friendly and we got it! Between our family and the friends we were with we had 10 kids! We're a zoo. The host and the waitress never gave us dirty looks or acted like we were unwanted-something I have encountered quite often. The food was yummy but not earth shattering. I was more impressed with service. However one friend we were with absolutely loved his so maybe I ordered wrong? Just ate there this morning for brunch. We think we have found a new gem of a restaurant. Arrived about 11:15 on Sunday morn, We were seated immediately. A very pleasant young lady prepared our omelets at the omelet station. There were approx. 10-12 different ingredients we could choose from. Not a huge selection of pastries but it was adequate. There was a bowl of your standard fruit, honey dew, pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes. The maid food bar was clean and the food well prepared. Selections included scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and French toast. The toppings were yummy especially the warm strawberry compote. We found the service good and the room quiet enough that we could have peaceful conversation. Price was 11.99 for adults. We will certainly visit again. We tried this for the first time today. Great quality, cleanliness and service. I had the Smokey BBQ & Bacon burger with crispy fries and my fiance ordered the Spicy Chicken sandwich with onion rings. Everything tasted fresh and the food came out very promptly. Michelle, our server, was very attentive and we never wanted for drink refills or anything else. I'd say beware of an inconsistent review, where a fast food chain or the like rates better than this place. This family owned and ran restaurant is fantastic. You can taste the love in everything ordered due to the fact that the owner is usually the person cooking. The salads have always been fresh and free of questionable greens (brown edges,slimey) that makes a huge difference compared to most places. I highly recommend the pasta dishes, fish,burgers,steak,or chicken at this establishment you can't go wrong. The clientele at this establishment attracts is a breath of fresh air compaired to the rough dumpy bar they share a parking lot with to the south. Very friendly wait staff a full bar with real beers on tap as well as the standard bud light,coors,busch and classy atmosphere. I live close to Tussey's and have therefore been there multiple times...mostly because there are very few choices around here! I feel like their menu is overpriced given that the food is mediocre at best. Multiple times I have been seated next to a group of employees talking loudly and folding silverware...seems tacky right in the middle of dinner service. Value is what makes Tussey's really stand out. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the staff is very friendly. I have only eaten here once, but my burger was on par. The best way to describe this establishment is upscale diner. Lots of old standbys, some surprisingly upscale entrees, full bar and overall great bang for your buck.
