I can't say enough good things about Tuxedo Den. This was my first time ever renting a suit and I was hunting for the perfect suit for my wedding. John was really knowledgeable, kind and actively wanted to help. He helped me make the right decisions and made it easy and painless. He allowed me and my now wife to come to the store before they opened, to help and to pick up and drop off items. Jillian is an angel. On the way to my final fitting, a car pulled out in front of me on my electric scooter, and while trying to swerve and miss the car I was thrown from the scooter and got really bad road rash on my elbows, knees, hands and on my hip. I showed up to the appointment bleeding and limping. Jillian grabbed the first aid kit and dressed my wounds and was overall just very kind and eager to help both with my suit and with my newfound injury. After the wedding I forgot to include a few minor items (cufflinks & Tuxedo Den suit hanger) and they were totally fine with me taking a few days to get it back to them hassle free. I would 100% use them again for any rentals or if I was looking to purchase. Every person I dealt with at Tuxedo Den was kind and professional and they are fantastic at what they do. Hear me out! Im not coming from an angry customer place. They have great service and great workers, but for real hear me out. I'm a regular suit shopper. I stopped by this place to check it out. Was driving by and saw some suits that were nice in the window. Let me cut this short and say this place is ripping Sacramento off big time. Most folks won't know because this is one of the only suit shops in the area. But coming from someone who buys suits on the regular, this place is NOT it. Almost every suit I looked at was wayyyy less somewhere else. There's one suit in particular where they were selling it for $799. Online was $269. The worker tried to sell me on alterations, but even with alterations, it still doesn't make sense for the suit to be $799. With alterations would probably add another $60 to $150 depending on what needs to be done. I couldn't believe it. Being a business owner myself, i know one thing. Every manufacturer has MSRP and MAP prices. The MSRP is "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price". The MAP price is "Manufacturers asking price". You CAN sell for the MSRP, but it's best to sell at the MAP because that's the amount that the market will sell for. Honestly this place is good if you need somewhere to check out some stuff. But once you check it out, do yourself a favor and purchase online. WAYYYYY overpriced. I attached a few pics of the suit that i checked out in the store. I had to call to get my suit altered a few days before my day. Seem like they didn't get to it yet but the made it in time. This is the first time I've ever rented a suit, so I've not much to compare this to. I only had to because I was chosen to be in a wedding party. I already have a large number of suits, all higher quality than what you'd get in a rental so in fairness I was already put off by the entire process. Coming with the groom to the first fitting was pleasant enough. No problems there. Picking up the suit was a nightmare. I had to wait 45 minutes even though I didn't need to fit again, just pick up. The suit itself was terrible quality, but I don't fault the store for that at all, I assume this is comparable to any rental you'd get. The shirt wasn't even cotton it was some kind of microfiber. And it wasn't pure white, some kind of off white. Nor did it have slots for collar stays so my collar wasn't as stiff as it should be. Nor was it a proper tuxedo shirt with pleating or marcella front, just a regular dress shirt. Cotton shirts are not expensive so I did expect more here. In general I think it's more rational to purchase than rent. Going up to 400-500 will get you a very respectable suit. You can also get a bad suit at zara or h&m for less than 200, which will look just fine so long as it fits, it just won't last very long, but neither does a rental right? The next problem is that the pants were a slightly different black than the jacket. Clearly it wasn't really a suit created from the same exact cloth. In fairness, much of the blame lies with the groom who chose to wear black for a 5pm wedding, I wouldn't have noticed the discrepancy if the wedding started in the evening. Tuxedos are evening wear, not daytime wear. Blacks look terrible in direct sunlight. Please, if you are reading this never wear a black tux during the day, just wear a regular suit. I looked like a waiter, or the kind of person who eats steak with ketchup. The one big positive for tuxedo den is the variety offered. So if you're the type of guy with uh, eccentric tastes, and that's as charitable as I can put it, then this is the place for you. If you're looking to wear a pattern that should never have been made into a suit or a color that you saw in a Jackson Pollock painting then you can probably find it here. The internet is forever and you're going to look more ridiculous than the guys who wore powder blue tuxes with bellbottoms but it's your life. I think the optimal use case for tuxedo den is if you get a basic suit in a normal color like blue or grey (so that the pants must match, can't get away with pairing separates as you can with black), and you absolutely don't want to make your groomsmen spend a little more to buy a proper suit, and/or they can't be bothered with learning all the details around buying a suit and getting the proper fit etc. At least with the rental service you don't have to know anything about menswear. But please, just choose a normal looking suit, don't be inspired by something you saw worn at the NBA draft. read more

I was extremely impressed with the customer service. In reading some of the previous comments, I think perhaps there might have been one employee who didn't adhere to the culture led by John. We got top-notch customer service and were fully informed by the time we left. I felt John was patient with my son, wife, and daughter (and we had a LOT of questions). I Scheduled my appointment for selecting the suits for my groomsmen over a month in advance. I was notified 2 days before my appointment by text message that my appointment would be pushed back another month. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, Jillian told me "I'm sorry you feel that way". No attempt was made to rectify the relationship or apologize for their poor scheduling. Take your money somewhere that appreciates their client relationship; based on what I experienced, Tuxedo Den does not. Regarding the owner's response; Prom season happens during the same months every year. If there had been forethought put into booking my initial appointment, I would have never been slotted during a time when my appointment would inevitably have to be pushed a full month later. Instead of pushing someone who had planned ahead (which should make things easier on your end) maybe tell some of the high school kids you are booked up and can't service them instead. Or maybe instead of monitoring your yelp reviews, the owner could show up and lend the staff a hand himself. Excuses are a dime a dozen but I still haven't even seen one solid apology. I've been renting formal wear for nearly 50 years, starting with high school proms, to weddings to business and social events. In that time, I've never experienced the level of service we just received from Tuxedo Den for my daughter's wedding. No other company is even a close second. They're very busy, but it works well if you have an appointment. Jillian helped my future son-in-law figure out the look he wanted and then what the best man, dad's and young boys could wear to compliment his selection. Most of the wedding party were from out of town and she had them get trial fittings in their local area and was able to ballpark everyone's sizes to reserve them. When it came time to pick everything up, they were outstanding. I'm difficult to fit, but they got it dialed in and made alterations on the spot for a very comfortable and clean look. It was prom and wedding season and they have a real assembly line to get guys processed through efficiently in an impressive manner. The same went for the out of town guys and kids when they picked up. You just won't get that level of service from a chain or mail order business. I'd give them six stars if Yelp had a box to check. My wife and I got married a year ago, and the photographer whom I wish I could name but I won't, did not take any photos of my wife and I other than us cutting the cake, as well not taking any photos me and my groomsman or our bridal party together. Overall disappointed in the quality of service from this organization. Although they may provide quality suits/ tux's, I will not return for future services. Jillian was a biggest disappointment in terms of communication, accessibility, and understanding customer needs. We rented tuxes for 12 men, all who came to us disappointed with their rental. Provided different colored shoes between all the men, missing pocket squares, wrong sizes ordered, and used items on new purchases. No excuse as to why each call or text goes unanswered. I would give zero stars if I could. We were excited to find a great wedding suit selection at very reasonable prices after shopping at several stores. When my husband and groomsmen went back in to make a final selection, they were measured, given quotes for the suits they selected, and paid for the rentals in full. They left with receipts stating they paid in full with nothing left due. A few weeks before the wedding Tuxedo Den staff started calling my husband leaving multiple voicemails saying he needed to come in to pay an additional amount. After speaking with staff several times and explaining that the men had paid in full, Tuxedo Den stated that the salesperson made a mistake and didn't charge the correct amount, that he was no longer employed there and that the men would not be receiving their suits unless we paid an additional several hundred dollars. My husband asked to be escalated to a manager which also took several attempts to make happen. When speaking the manager, John Rodriguez, the manager reiterated that he refused to release the suits to the wedding party without paying the new much higher price. In desperation with the wedding being right around the corner and seven men needing suits so soon, my husband paid the demanded additional amount. The manager and staff directly violated the California Business and Professional Code 12024.2 and took advantage of one-time customers who were not in a position to find an alternative solution. As if extortion wasn't bad enough, they lost measurements requiring an additional visit, delivered clothing sizes that were both way too large and others that were too tight, and didn't have all the items available on the pick up day when nearly all men were driving in from different cities, requiring yet another visit. We'll pursue formal action against the liable store staff as well as the company, but it's important that potential customers understand the risks you may be taking by doing business with Tuxedo Den. ADDITION: In response to the reply from Tuxedo Den below - I have the receipt for nearly $300 that we were told was the minimum compromise they to what was being demanded to release the suits. It is illegal in California to require additional payment after a sale is complete before releasing the product. It's that simple. A company cannot advertise or quote one price and charge another at the register, and it is certainly against the code to then hold the product and demand further payment. read more

Perfect in every way! Despite the fact they are tucked away in Sears, this place is first class. We first went to an establishment that bills themselves as the Warehouse of Men's clothing. Since my groomsmen were scatted across California, we figured that would be best to get everyone fitted. Well this "Warehouse" had a very limited selection, none of which was available in person to see the fit and finish. In fact, the ONLY time you can try on the tux was your final fitting the day before the wedding! I called around and found tuxedo den. I liked this place because they have all the tuxedos in person to see, and they do multiple fittings. The salesman was generous with discounts, and I received my tux (as the groom) free with the other rentals. I think we also received $30 off each rental. One of my groomsmen was in LA which wasn't a problem for them. He went to a local "Warehouse" and they took his measurements which he sent to Tuxedo Den. A couple of my goomsmen had to do last minute alterations which wasnt a problem for them. They got all of our tuxedos fitted PERFECTLY for everyone. We went to get fitted and one of the ladies there would not let me go to the back with him to check and see how the suit looked.
