Very interesting diner. It's definitely a place you will want to see if you are a big Twin Peaks fan. I've been here a few times over the years and it's stayed pretty true to the greasy spoon atmosphere. The menu has a lot of burger concoctions including peanut butter and jelly, chili burgers, and many others. They also have other diner foods but I've only had burgers here and they are good. I have seen this place change themes from everything Twin Peaks to Tweedy Bird "I thought I saw a puddy tat" kitschy decorations. I've also seen it super packed as well as being empty so it really depends on when you go. One thing that is consistent is the local customers, diner menu, and service you would expect from a place like this, gritty but friendly.. This spot is definitely not a place for fine dining but it sure is interesting and does give you something to talk about..whether it turns out good or bad. Of course, if you know Twin Peaks, you know Twede's! This place hasn't always had décor you want to crow about, but since it's recent remodel for the third season of the show, it looks like a proper PNW/Lynchian diner. For fans of the show, there are now a lot more direct references to the Double R all over the building. I've never ventured off of the breakfast menu, but it is a major bang for your buck. I usually get the 2 egg + meat combo (with FOUR slices of bacon, ilu Twede's, you are the best), and it runs around $10 with plenty of leftovers to bring home. Pro tip: get the biscuit as your bread option!!!! The coffee actually is "damn fine." :) If you are a Twin Peaks fan, you obviously also need to spring for the cherry pie - which is so good (and I don't even like cherry pie, so that's saying something)!! It has a buttery, flaky crust, and the filling is an equal balance of tart and sweet. So yummy. Twede's is definitely a neighborhood joint, but given it's connection to a cult favorite, there's always gonna be a few touristy types there, but it's not overtly touristy a la the Hard Rock Café or something similar. The staff are really sweet, although they seem like they're often slammed on the weekends (for good reason!), so be nice and tip well! Parking can be a bit of a gamble, but if you come after the rush (11:30 or later on the weekends), you should be able to grab a spot in the on-site lot. I love this little joint! read more

One reviewer said if you give it 4 or 5 stars you must work there. I don't work there. Another reviewer said that absolutely no locals go there. I live in North Bend, so I definitely qualify for a local, and I see a lot of other locals there. I've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food prices are in line with the portions you get, which are good and large. Their scrambles are excellent, and at $12 a plate are actually 2 meals, so it's actually a great value. If you are a Hipster looking for an experience where the staff fawn over you, or have that fake "attitude" of the usual Hipster joints, or have food made solely with organic-based soy products, this restaurant is not for you. But, if you are looking for a locally-owned, honest good food restaurant, then take it from this local and give Twede's a try. read more

The worst cup of coffee ever (watered down which staff said "it's dinner coffee- there's nothing I can do about it" , still tried to charge us for and even put up a fight when asked to remove it because none was consumed.) This ruined my husbands visit to the historical "Twin Peaks" we couldn't wait to get out of there. Food was decent, BbQ sauce was good as well. The service left a sour feeling in my belly. That's why I am giving Twede's 2 stars, because I am happy this place in maintained enough for me to be able to order a cup of coffee (but not "damn good coffee") and a slice of mediocre pie. But it really is a shame when you think about how fantastic the place could be if the food was decent, had reasonable prices, and the service existed. Our sides were completely different than we ordered and there was no waitress in sight to correct this. Someone dropped off the food and then we were stuck with bland, greasy food that cost $13 a plate. I was so sad to not enjoy this place. But its pretty horrible. How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways. My husband and I are both modest Twin Peaks fans, and since we were in the area with another family we decided to stop here after and get a bite to eat. If you're thinking about going, do it, if only to learn for yourself whether you want to risk going back again or not. The big surprise for me was looking them up on the Public Health website and finding they've had no violations in the past year. What they did right: -Our order showed up pretty quickly. -They have a cool mural on the back of the cafe. -When asked, the waitress printed up the itemized bill. What they did wrong: -They took a cafe and made it into a dive, and not the clean kind. -There was a weird pile of something under one of the tables. -Very disorganized in seating and billing, neither my husband or the other family were able to figure out what our bill said and there was no total and had to ask to see one that was itemized and totaled. -It's helpful to put the 'seat yourself' sign towards the front where people can see it right away instead of loitering in the entrance blocking traffic. -The food was a mix of greasy, bland, and soggy. It seemed like they were more intent on sending out things that were just passable enough not to get sent back. - I didn't finish my burger because it reminded me of the smell of leather. I like leather but not to eat. Perhaps we caught them on a day they were really overwhelmed, but it's sad to see somewhere with so much potential and built in traffic (Twin Peaks fans) go to waste. We didn't check out the display they had for the show, mainly because we were too focused on the other issues they were having. My stomach has been upset with me for visit all day, and I regret going for anything other than coffee. I haven't read through the reviews, so I'm not sure why Twede's is only rated at about 2 1/2 stars. This seems like one of those cases of mismanaged expectations. This is a diner in a small town in the mountains east of Seattle. This is not a five-star restaurant. So, I write this review while keeping in mind what I expected of the experience. First, the service was fine. She wasn't warm and bubbly or anything, but she got the job done and she put up with our bigger group with little kids and managed what we needed well. The place could have been a little cleaner . . . nothing to say too much about one way or the other, but they could stand to have the chairs cleaned/replaced. So, how's the food? It was probably better than I expected. I ordered an omelette and it was quite good. I ate it all, even though it was so huge that I really should have taken about two-thirds of it home. The toast was good and the orange juice was really bad. The hash browns were really well cooked, but cooked in oil on a griddle that should have been cleaned long before, so they had that bad griddle/freezer burn taste to them. Overall, it was what you should expect from a diner and there's no reason to give it less than four stars. The place is small town casual with some interesting locals hanging around. There was a strange man with long, stringy gray hair sitting next to me who kept laughing maniacally for no apparent reason.. It was a little creepy. There was another man in a suit across the bar who was talking in a small tape recorder the entire time as if it was a person. He kept calling it "Diane". Weird. I do not understand the picky reviews here. This place is awesome! Someone compared it to Denny's???? Are you kidding me? The food here is exactly what I would expect: greasy and delicious! I took one star away for cleanliness but I almost want to give it back for delivering exactly what I'm looking for when I step into a place like this. And the service is amazing. Always very friendly and accommodating. OK so the food specifics. Most important first. The fries! The fries alone deserve 5 stars. I don't even normally order fries since they're so unhealthy and aren't a weak spot for me. But these I have to order. They remind me of Dick's fries, and that is all that needs to be said. The burgers are delicious. Exactly what I want when I order a burger out. I've had breakfast here as well. Perfection. The bacon is thick and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered some mass of jalapeno yumminess. I thought he was crazy until I tried a bite. It's not something I would ever order since it looks like way too much food, but he loved it and it was very tasty. I haven't had dessert here but I've heard good things. They even serve beer and wine if you're here nursing a hangover. Awesome. No bueno! Walking in, my group and I witnessed MOUNDS of food atop plates. The place was full and a seat yourself sort of establishment. We actually almost dined at a dirty table and may have just done that if it weren't for the keen eyes of Miss Riss J. It took a little bit for our teeny bopper waitress to come over and come to think of it, we actually had to ask for the silverware after they brought us our food! Riss and Don ordered some scramble MOUND that they had seen someone else with and decided they'd taste it for themselves. I ordered me some chicken fried steak and eggs and Amanda went vegetarian on us and got her some veggies and toast. The food was bland, at best. I tried the scramble and it seemed that the potatos were taking over the dish in a tasteless way! It seemed that all the meat had been at the bottom as well. Not that they even saw the bottom. This was just an observation while watching them pile the 3/4 of the meal leftovers into the to go container! My chicken fried steak WAS compared to cardboard but I'd like to challenge that comparison and say it was more like wallboard. Slightly chalky. A few years back I had ALMOST had a run in here. My friend and I walked in starved from camping for days...waited....waited....wait, ok that's enough! Then we left. We had to be sitting there for almost 20 min.'s before we had walked out. Ok so almost everyone on yelp complains that twedes food isn't great... First off, eating at any establishment once and having the item you ordered not be up to par doesn't mean it isn't a great resturaunt. There are plenty of factors to consider like the fact the place has been open for years, locals love it, if you go on tuesday nights there us karaoke. It's full of history not only in itself but north bend as well. The menu is limited to cafe style foods but the A-Z burger menu is nice, I personally reccomend the bacon bleu burger. Though i will admit i dont like the fries...The fish in chips are uniquely shaped and taste great. The scrambles for breakfast are soo large I suggest you bring two friends!! Fantastic greasy spoon kind of diner. Every time I go there I order something off the breakfast menu and have yet to be disappointed. It does come across as a bit overpriced for the type of food you are getting, but the portions are definitely generous and the quality of the food is great! I was also surprised by how much I loved the coffee. I am an avid coffee drinker and usually diners like this one leave a lot to be desired in the coffee category (although the perk is it's usually unlimited refills). This coffee was great! Of course it's not gourmet quality or anything, but it will leave you pleasantly surprised. The Tweety bird decor could stand to be done away with, but still a cozy place to grab a bite. The views and location are fantastic, with Mt. Si right outside the enormous windows and a handful of cute little shops and restaurants all within a few blocks walking distance. Twede's is always a regular stop for me whenever I'm in town. :) read more

Oh brother... are you people serious? I've been to Twede's twice for breakfast, driving all the way out from Seattle. It's really good, folks. Classic American diner food. It's not trying to be fancy, it's just trying to give you a ton of food that's really satisfying. I've had an omelette and hashbrowns each time, and each time been given enough for two breakfasts... not only do you get a ton of food, you will find yourself plowing through the whole plate. It's greasy, salty, fatty and delicious, but not over the top. The coffee is plentiful and YES, it's good. It's not Vivace or Stumptown, it's diner coffee.... good in a very different way, and I'm OK with that! I had pie this morning... boysenberry. My buddy had banana creme. Both were quite good. I would love to leave a better rating for the pop culture effect the diner had on Americana, but I just can't. Maybe they were having a bad day, maybe it's just a crappy diner. We sat down, waited for a menu. Waited some more for the server to show up. Waited for my husband's beer to come, waited for the food to come...and that's the last we saw of the server. She brought the check with our food and never asked if my husband wanted another beer or if we wanted more water or if our lunch was even edible. While I understand that salads are not a crappy diner's forte, I didn't expect mine to be as bad as it was. I got a $12 chef salad which was iceberg lettuce and a few strips of meat and processed cheese, a metric crap tonne of canned black olives and an egg. I think there might have been a couple slices of tomato, but I can't be sure. $12. For that. I can't talk about my husband's food with any authority for two reasons: 1. He'll eat anything and 2. I couldn't look at it, let alone eat it. I know it had something to do with canned pears. If you want the "Twin Peaks" thing (which I didn't even know about it until literally ten minutes ago...I never watched the show), I still wouldn't waste my money. Twede's: loud, busy, touristy, decent, fun for Twin Peaks fans. Service: Slow, but always friendly. If it's super busy (as it usually is on the weekends), don't wait for a table to open, just walk right up to the counter and have a seat. Decor: As of July 2016, Twede's is fully decked in its Double R Twin Peaks Season 3 finery. There's nothing super special, but there are a lot of things that fans will notice and get a kick out of. It looks nothing like the set used in the first two seasons though. Atmosphere: Family friendly, INSANELY BUSY on nice days, very loud, nearly claustrophobic. Food: Great fries. Mediocre burgers. When a good friend from Australia expressed an interest in Twin Peaks, we knew just where to go, Twede's Cafe. Sure, Twede's is a greasy diner with little resemblance to the cafe from the show due to a fire and remodeling. But getting to indulge your inner Twin Peaks geek with a "damn fine" cup of coffee and slice of cherry pie is worth it. Is the food something to calling home about? Frankly, no. But at Twede's food is almost an after thought. The big menu offers standard greasy spoon fair, gigantic breakfasts and too many burger options. But really this menu exists to feed those who stop by to hang out with their friends in a booth and laugh. An experience that really is something worthwhile. Twede's also boasts open Mic night on Tuesdays from 6:30PM to 9:00 PM. And any Twin Peaks fan will be missing out if they don't consider purchasing a silly bumper sticker for $1.50 and walk by the back hallway (toward the restrooms) that is filled with Twin Peaks articles and images. We had a pretty darn good experience here. Admittedly, I was slightly terrified after reading all of the one star reviews. But I love, love Twin Peaks to death and had to check out the old Double R! This is a diner. A no frills, greasy spoon diner in a sleepy Washington town, filled with no frills folks (very much like the show) This is not Hollywood, and the folks here are not looking to turn an enormous profit on the beloved show. They are here to serve food. Even though there are these awesome glossy still shots near the restrooms and the coffee mugs say, "home of twin peaks cherry pie", these folks are not marketing gurus schooled in commodification. They serve burgers. And they do it well. And that is cool with me. We found a seat right near the door, with a view of an enormous mountain range- breathtaking!! Our waitress came over right away, with a kind smile and took our drink orders. The coffee is not anything to write home about, but it was refilled pretty frequently. Since the previous reviews stated that the food was a travesty, we played it safe with 2 eggs and toast and hash browns (it's kind of hard to screw that up). No frills, very good. I really liked the hash browns actually, which were doused in butter. YUM. The people watching here is stellar. I now understand why David Lynch chose North Bend for the series! Everyone kinda looks like an extra. So awesome. Pat held the door for Bob and Dr Jacoby sat behind us buttering his toast. They seem to have gotten rid of the majority of tweedy birds- only one hung in the middle of the room. I read that the fire was actually arson (a crazed fan?), which is sad because the interior is pretty different now. Finally, the pie. I was instantly reminded of Entemenns store bought pie eaten with my grandma at church functions. Yeah it's not fresh, but it was good. There are plenty of serviceable diner breakfast options here, with a wide assortment of breakfast meats, from the usual suspects on through turkey sausage and hotlinks. Breakfast is hearty, maybe a shade less greasy than you'd expect. The sides are big; decent hash browns and Twede's oversize biscuits fairly demand a dip in gravy. If you crave diner food, come for breakfast but by all means, stop eating before you get to dessert. Since as the former Mar T/RR diner, they trumpet their "Twin Peaks" pie, and thus imply that their coffee is equally good. Both were immensely disappointing, tasting as if sourced for economy from a supermarket. Im not a fan of Biscuits and gravy but it was delicious. And My burger was a nice size and it was almost too much to eat. Which says alot even for me. It hurts me to leave this place a 1 star review. I literally flew across the country with my dad to come eat at this diner and explore North Bend because we are die hard Twin Peaks fans. Twede's Cafe was one of the highlights of the Twin Peaks series. I am beyond happy to say that the exterior and interior look just as they did in the show which was an awesome discovery!! Thank you to whoever has maintained this timeless charm and iconic image. However... the same people who so wonderfully embrace the Twin Peaks tourism that the diner brings also hires the staff. Service was atrocious to say the least. A handful of high school kids ran the entire front of the restaurant. They were rude, acting as though the customers were ruining their ability to "have fun". They congregated at one end of the counter. Our waiters girlfriend was hanging out there while he worked and he was so obviously trying to impress her by acting "cool" (a.k.a. Acting like he was too cool to serve any tables). They were loudly talking, laughing and cursing. The food was mediocre at best and all we did was order omelettes. They were swimming in butter in a bad way. I didn't even know that was possible. We did finish our meal with cherry pie, ice cream and coffee. That was all okay. I'm sure I will be returning to this spot before I leave North Bend because I'm such a big fan of Twin Peaks but it won't include me eating there. I have some advice for the owners who better be reading this because it's part of them running a business people will want to return to!!! If you're going to hire high school kids you also have to have an adult overseeing them who will be firm, keeping them in line. Customers shouldn't have to put up with feeling like they're eating in a high school cafeteria. Just because your business is a tourist attraction doesn't mean you should slack so greatly in the one area your business is actually supposed to be good at. Came to this small cafe not knowing anything about why it's popular. I left this place still not knowing why it's popular. I did come on a Sunday, and I can be patient when things are busy. But when we asked our server after 20 minutes with only being brought a menu and water to order....she responded "oh let me get your sever." My friends and I decided to drive out to the waterfall and then get some pie - an all-around good spontaneous Twin Peaks adventure. The "damn fine cup of coffee" was pretty meh, though my grilled ham and cheese was a quality example of the genre. Although they advertise their award winning and freely refillable fries - they were also decidedly sub-par. My friends and I split a piece of cherry pie - delicious, but in that canned filling, wow this is fake sort of way - nothing to write home about. Service was fine, neither good nor bad. Don't get suckered in by the Twin Peaks map - although it's a remarkable and hilarious souvenir, you could probably make one yourself using Paint and a photocopier. read more

We didn't read the yelp reviews prior to hitting Twede's, for which I'm glad. Overall only 2 1/2 stars? Ouch! My Twede's recommendation came from my co-worker who gave this up when I was in the throes of a banana cream pie craving. What he didn't tell me about was the hand-cut fries. With free refills. Oooooh! They were the first thing I zoned in on when we walked in. Twede's claims that "almost everything is made from scratch" and these fries had that made-in-house look. They were just as amazing as they looked- nary a soggy fry, with some small crispy potato bits. Heaven. Liked my french dip with au jus, too. The homemade beef vege soup was tasty, also. Sadly, I didn't go for the fry refill. I'm no huge Twin Peaks fan but I was determined to have their cherry pie. The pie didn't taste industrial, though it did have a somewhat goop-ey look that commercial pies with too much cornstarch have. Nothing objectionable with the crust. If there was a way to select 0 stars this would be the time!!! Which is really sad because the food looked good. Our story starts with... Walking into 1/2 filled diner to be told to sit anywhere.. All empty tables were dirty except one... Should have been my first sign to ruuuunn!! But no I was in a good mood, hungry and the food looked great. We sat at the table by the door and was given our water and menus. Then it happened... We watched people get their food, others were waited on but we were invisible!!! Tweads has ok breakfast. Nothing spectacular. We generally go to the North Bend Bar & Grill because the food is way better and the service is good. But this past weekend we realized that the pie is HORRIBLE! My husband and I live in NB and realized that we had never had any of their "famous pie." So we went in there just for a couple slices. It was grocery-store-brand frozen food quality at best. If you are going to tout yourself as having amazing pie, you better make the whole thing from scratch. The filling is compote, not fresh and the crust is pasty, not flaky then to add insult to injury, they toss soft serve on top of it. Not even a scoop of real ice cream! Seriously? We got two different slices and they both sucked. Showtime was recently here filming a new version of Twin Peaks and I hope with all the money they made, they can invest in a baker and some friendlier staff. read more

Obviously milking it's Twin Peaks connection as much as possible, Twede's has little else to offer other than overpriced burgers and super nice waitresses. The food left me feeling ill (I hardly ever feel that way short of the flu) but the wall of David Lynch newspaper clippings and relics was redeeming. Didn't try their Twin Peaks cherry pie or their Damn Fine cup-o-coffee but I can imagine that it is any better than the burgers which they feature in the menu. Really, really expensive. How expensive? 40 dollars for chicken strips, a French dip, and a couple cokes. That'd be before the tip. Otherwise the food was good, nothing special, it was exactly as expected. Not bad, but nothing amazing. I'm saying this as a North Bend local. If you want to visit for the reference to Twin Peaks, then it may be worth the experience. I dont know the significance of this place and I waited for months just to be able to walk in. I've been coming to this spot for about 45 years. It has changed hands a few times and been rebuilt but I've been coming to this little corner of North Bend to have breakfast for a long time. For those of us who remember the days before I-90 was built and you had to drive through North Bend to get up to the pass to ski, you probably stopped here for breakfast on the way up and stopped for a root beer float at XXX in Issaquah on the way back. Loads of nostalgia for me. I've taken my kids there on the way to ski too. Currently my friends and I use it as a meeting place for breakfast before we hit the forest for an adventure or two. With so much history and generations nostalgic Seattleites like myself, you would think that they would try to capitalize on that. Add in the lack of capitalization on the Twin Peaks angle and it baffles me. They chose to focus on a bizarre assortment of stuffed Tweety Birds instead... The Food: The food is what it is, dive diner food, and don't take the wrong, I love dive diners. I search them out in fact. If you are going to review it as if the place was anything other than a dive joint then you are off the mark. The place isn't pretending to be anything it isn't (with the exception of the pie.. more later) so don't go if you are expecting 5 star service and haute cuisine or Guy Fieri running around praising the food. The breakfasts are big, very big and are right in the ballpark for what you would expect for a diner like this. Nothing to write home about but pretty good actually. The décor: I'm assuming the owner must go by the nick name Tweety or something, no other explanation for the countless stuffed Tweety Birds around the place. Problem is that it's not cute, not kitchy, but just plain weird and kind of disgusting. All of the lint, dirt and grease that has piled on these stuffed birds over the years is a real turn off. The weird birds don't have anything to do with the place and don't fit into anything resembling a Twin Peaks theme. If I had a place that was so famous that people made pilgrimages to it 20 years after the TV series was over, I would capitalize on it. But the dirty birds, really? Bizarre and dirty is just bizarre and dirty. Cherry Pie and Coffee As has been pointed out by others, the cherry pie tastes like cheap, headrush sweet, bought in bulk pie that you probably won't order again. Again, wouldn't you capitalize on the Twin Peaks thing and make the best damn pie possible? Read the reviews, people trek to this place just to try the pie. Why don't they make a great pie that would mean the customer would come back for it? Baffles me. As for the coffee, tastes like Boyds made in an old coffee maker. It is what you would expect from a dive diner. I don't expect more and I order it. But with the Twin Peak pie and coffee shtick they advertise ( "a damn fine cup of coffee" ), you'd think they would take it up a notch. Twin Peaks already made them famous for it, what restaurant wouldn't kill for that, just live up to it and the pilgrims will make return trips to the holy land. I'm baffled. If you are in North Bend go there for a big satisfying meal (breakfast) at a decent price. Hang out and use it as a rally point to meet friend and grab a bite before a hike. If you are not in North Bend, I wouldn't go out of my way to make the trek. Hey Twedes, get rid of the weird dirty Tweety Birds, you're freakin' me out. read more
