If I could give it negative stars I would. We haven't been here in several years, loved it before, what the hell happened? Our waitress, Patricia, was easily the rudest, slowest, unknowledgeable waitress we have ever experienced. We had a chicken pesto panini which was okay, fried chicken dinner which the pieces were the tiniest pieces I've ever seen, KFC would have been better. Liver dinner which was just plain disgusting, so veiny and overlooked you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife, hard crunchy onions, and the beets were so old they were brown. My open faced roast beef sandwich....meat was tuff, gravy was sour tasting, some fries were soggy and some were hard as rocks, wtf? Besides being rude and not speaking enough English to have a simple conversation like taking an order, when asked for the check twenty minutes later we had to ask the (host?) to receive our check. It's a decent diner, especially for Connecticut. The decor is updated, but with that typical diner feel with mini jukeboxes at every table. Overall it's pretty clean and the service is friendly. The food.. was.. awful. Particularly the Turkey Panini that my wife ordered. These guys can really take some lessons from the local nursing home cafeteria if they want to improve their flavor palette. The turkey tasted like it was freezer burned prior to sitting in the refrigerator for a week. The roasted peppers and grilled onions had a weird gray haze going on. Stopped by here again at the beginning of this week. I greatly enjoyed my ham and cheese omelet. My husband ordered a patty melt, it came on toasted white bread with no fried onions. Thought rye bread and fried onions were standard but we will be sure to ask specifically for next time. I also ordered dessert to go because they looked delicious. Ok, call me crazy but my friends and I had delicious food here last night. Granted, some were drunk, but all of our meals were awesome. I got eggs, bacon, toast and home fries. Eggs were perfect, bacon was almost perfect, home fries were really good, and the toast was just ok. My friends also got a burger, a bbq chicken wrap and a honey dijon wrap... all were delicious! The home fries here are probably some of the best I've ever had. We went at 2 am-- maybe those chefs are better than the ones other reviewers got. WARNING RAW FOOD!!!! This place has absolutely gone down hill. If your not dining in chances are your going to have a very bad experience. 2 months ago I was getting lunch here at least twice a week food was great ( keep in mind my drive is 13 minutes one way and I have a 30 minute lunch break) however one day i was sent out with the wrong food. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich and got a chicken bacon sandwhich. I'm allergic to bacon. Unfortunately I didnt realize this until I got back to work. The waitress was very nice recognized who I was and told me next time I order, my lunch will be taken care of. The following week I order my lunch and go to pick it up. An older gentlemen with broken english who I believe is the owner was checking me out and I explained how the waitress told me it was taken care of. He then decided to call me a liar and start yelling at me in front of the whole restaraunt because I did't bring my food back so i'm just trying to get free food. After being embarrased especially since I worked in a restaraunt for 4 years I said its fine ill pay for it even after the waitress informed him about the situation. He persisted to yell at me. After that experience I took a break from ordering there. Well flash forward to today I decided to try and order again from them because I believe in bad days. I ordered french toast waitress was great, he checked me out I get back to work and the entire center of my french toast was raw eggs. I stopped in as I was passing through Torrington and the place gave me the feeling of a restaurant back home. I was seated quickly and I had melody as a server. she was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and gave a great recommendation for a meal. I was leaning towards a burger and she recommended the alpine burger. her pleasant and friendly personality gave me a homey and welcome feeling. I'm big on service. and this woman gave 100% satisfaction!! the food came out and the burger came out exactly how I ordered it. it was a really good sized portion.med rare and juicy. So glad i happened upon the Twin Colony Diner in Torrington the other night. I ordered the lasagna and it was great. I also got to watch the UConn Women's team win the final four while i had my late dinner. The next morning i went back for breakfast and had French toast with eggs, that also came with bacon and sausage. I really enjoyed the food and the service was good too. the place is casual and you feel really comfortable and at home. the staff treats you like they know you. I'll be back!! read more

My granddaughter's graduation was at the nearby Warner Theater and it finished after nine so we ended up at Twin Co. This was flat out the worst dining experience I have ever paid for. Waitstaff disorganized and inefficient. Manager obviously incapable (must be a relative of the owners). The food was just inedible (and I don't mean that it was mediocre "diner food"), I mean it was inedible. I ordered a corned beef Rueben which should be a walk in the park for any real diner. What came out was grey colored left over roast beef slices with sauerkraut in between. When I told the waitress that it was not corned beef she gave me face and said "it's the new corned beef recipe". I had her take it away and take it off our tab. The other members of our family (5 others) all had similar experiences. Did I mention that it took over an hour to be served?!! I can't believe this place stays in business.
