But, so are the fish and chips, the French fries (they cook 'em crispy they way we prefer), and ... well, we haven't been disappointed at all. The young servers are friendly, the bar offers up some good, sweet treats, and the seating is under a well-protected tent outdoors and indoors since they are now a year-round operation. We think the prices are fair given the quality of food and the overall dining experience, which we'd label casual, or perhaps informal. Please note the parking area can get very crowded especially on weekends, so be prepared.

Our starter, Garlic Maple Whiskey Chicken Bites, came accompanied with grilled shishito peppers. Perfect for sharing and so lovely paired with a glass of prosecco. Next, we sampled Bouillabaisse and Miso Roasted Black Cod in dashi broth. Seafood for both mains were super fresh. The Bouillabaisse broth was remarkably flavorful, the hint of saffron ever present but not overwhelming. How nice to have the red pepper rouille and slices of bread (customary in France) served alongside for the authentic experience. Miso Roasted Black Cod was tasty, succulent and fork tender. Beautifully arranged with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts surrounding the fish, plus a delectable piece of polenta cake tucked underneath. Dashi broth was poured onto dish tableside, creating a warm umami rich dish that was not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. On to desserts....The Chocolate Tarte with sea salt, nuts and berry coulis, a picture of understated elegance, was incredibly sublime. The prices are generally quite a bit higher than the nearby Stop and Shop, but honestly, the quality of their locally produced items is far higher. Still, if you're buying some basics like soup or milk, you'll pay more here, and some prices can be really way up there. Sometimes we're frustrated by that, other times we're grateful to find some delicious fresh fish or prepared salads. Bantam is not our first market of choice, but we're here regularly for some things we like and want.
