My 8th military move and this company did the worst of them all. Items were randomly packed, poorly wrapped (if they even bothered to wrap it), and jammed into moving crates with enough force to bend steel railings on an $800 grill. Numerous other items damaged, hardware missing from furniture they disassembled, and I'm still looking for power cords for televisions and other appliances. If you have the option to use another mover, DO IT. Edit: We're still continuing to unpack and still finding more and more damaged items. Everything from dishes and glassware, to entire pieces of furniture and home fitness equipment (our Peloton Tread sustained internal & external damage and won't even turn on). Most items aren't repairable and will have to be replaced entirely. The most disgusting horrific experience. You literally couldn't have had a worse team of packers and movers. 95 percent of our stuff was damaged from their packing skills. One star is generous. They ruined everything! They stepped all over our babies changing table. There were literal foot prints on our stuff. All our white furniture was stained and completely ruined. Things like putting our printers and DVD player loose in a box. A loose toilet bowel scrubber inside a box with clean towels. Do not use these disgusting people. I have used Twin Oaks for three moves over the last 5 years. Each time got a little worse. The owner came out to do the estimate. I was clear that I would probably be adding another 15-20 boxes. The price was reasonable and similar to what I paid the year prior. The truck that showed up was small.....I mean SMALL. The estimate for the move was 5 hours. At the 5th hour, they were still loading everything. And then the moment of truth came..... everything did NOT fit. So then we had to wait for another truck. They were careless at the new house, broke a few items and didn't assemble things correctly. And they lost my patio table. There was so much chaos going on with the unloading that I didn't notice until I went to organize the patio but they had already left. Because I did not buy the enhanced insurance, the reimbursement I received was less than half of what the claim was for. The note indicated that it was a goodwill gesture. I understand that there are rules. But there is also Yelp.....and bad reviews don't help with getting new business. I would think paying a $175 claim is worth bending the rules. If there was less than one star thats what I would rate this compan. I told the movers multiple times that I wanted my items in boxes. They continued to ignore my request when I received my items, there were items unmarked. They marked my couch as stained and soiled even though it was a brand new couch. I don't have kids and I don't have a dog. My couch is off white and I have photos. The individuals arrived in a U-Haul truck and after I asked why my items were not going in boxes and a crate, he said they'll move them in one when they get to the storage place. For a move under 150 miles and for 2500 pounds they charged $3700! Was given this company through Suddath Government Services, unfortunately. They overcharged and ripped me off. They lost a $200 new vacuum during my move and told me it was on another truck, that they'd deliver it in a few days. A few days came, No delivery, no calls, nothing. I had to reach out to them to see what was going on with my lost item. They told me it was nowhere to be found. They weren't on time delivering in the first place. They have moved us twice (military) and both times were horrible. I found mugs just dumped in a box - not even wrapped. The broke the leg off a piano - which we requested multiple times they crate for over a month and they didn't do until after the leg was broken and they poured glue all over it trying to cover it up. They taped the back of the nicest piece of furniture we own with PACKING TAPE - completely pulled the finish off the side. They try to avoid using wardrobe boxes and stuffed evening wear and suede and leather jackets into a box - and then stuck an open bottle of soft soap on top without any paper around it. We requested shrink wrap around an antique china cabinet that belonged to my grandmother - they took it out to the truck with the doors swinging back and forth. Absolutely horrible! Twin Oaks was assigned to me by Suddath Relocation Systems to have my household goods moved. Anyone serving in the military knows that no matter what your household goods are broken down and setup by the moving company that is assigned to you. However that was not the case... My things arrived not setup or put together as I was told that would be and my vacuum arrived broken. We had an excellent experience with Twin Oaks on our move to Florida. They came in to pack the appointed day, all of my items that were fragile were packed securely. The day of the move they showed up on time and loaded the truck in a very timely manner, everything made to the destination safely and they showed up exactly on the day they were supposed to. our driver Ollie is a really nice person, he even called me after he left to inquire about our son who had become very ill. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. After reading the reviews, I am not sure how this company continues to maintain a Department of Defense contract for moving. I have moved 10 times in the military and this move was by far the worst I have ever experienced. The company did not deliver my household goods until nearly 1 month after arrival at their facility. The team that unpacked at my property caused significant damage to my newly purchased home and hadn't the slightest care in the world. The claims department at Twin Oaks is non-responsive, as they assume after a while we will just give up. After providing an estimate of over $2,200 in damages, the company offered only $200 in return. Only after refusing to accept the pathetic offer, they sent a check for $1,200; still $1000 less than the estimate. As of the posting of this review, this claim is still not resolved (nearly 5 months after the move). I would STRONGLY encourage you to find another company. Zero stars. read more

Boxes weren't place where requested, furniture was not assembled as it was supposed to be, and they lost roughly 30 boxes and pieces of furniture. If you're military, you may not have a choice. I have recovered enough from one of the worst experiences of my life, to write this For the first and last time in our interaction Mike was a sweetheart when he came to sign us up. Never again! Storage in non climate controlled warehouse ruined a mattress. They lost a custom headboard and, upon finding same, made us wait a month for it. Asked for 2 packers, got 5. Sounds good but try to get all of your worldly goods packed while 5 people are yelling at you from different directions. Bulk of business, i am told is Military. They have no choice. Used them in November 2013. The price was good and the team of movers were nice and courteous. Of course I realized later that they stole some of my old toys that I saved from childhood. The owner didn't care. Never apologized and only responded to my voicemail with a short text that someone would call me. They gave me minimal compensation. They also broke a punch bowl from a brand new set in the original box. They gave me a few dollars even though the entire set was useless without the bowl. The worst part was they tried to hide the fact that they broke it by burying the box in the back of a closet. They cleaned out all the glass and taped it back up. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to use a moving company. It took over 2 weeks before my belongings arrived. The estimated delivery time given at the service quote was 5-7 days. I needed to call everyday to check to see when my belongings would arrive and was given excuse after excuse. It was truly a horrible experience. read more

The guys who showed up to move us were very friendly. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. We instructed the company, Mike if I remember correctly, to not send a tractor trailer to move us. He assured that he'd look at Google Maps and send the appropriate trucks. When the truck arrived, it was a tractor trailer. Despite our intrepidation, we allowed them to proceed based on their assurances. As it turns out, we were correct. They could not get the vehicle up the driveway to the new house and ended up charging us over $900 to send another truck to shuttle items up the driveway. In addition to this, every piece of furniture we have has damage, ranging from the support rails on the dining room table being torn off to the edges of the dressers being dented and scraped. Worst move experiance Ive ever had as I was moving have way across the country. My household goods were packed by these guys and arrived looking like it have been dragged across the parking lots, 7 pieces of furniture were scratched, dented,, many small items missing from boxes that were either stolen of lost as some of the boxes had been punctured through and taped up. Twin Oaks movers were very courteous and worked very hard to get my stuff moved to California. Unfortunately, when it arrived to California, major items were damaged badly during the transit. If these items were made of cheap plexi-wood, I would have understood the damage. However, they were older items made from very heavy wood. Thieves...NEVER hire this company!!! They were hired for my military move from NJ to CO. My Samsung 32 in LED TV and my antique iron bed rails did not make it onto the inventory sheet and never made it to my home in Colorado. I am 100% sure that the Television and bed rails were in the storage unit before I moved. A television (still in the retail box) and heavy metal bed rails don't just go missing. I called twin oaks to ask them about the situation, after multiple calls and voicemails (none of which were returned), and all they did was talk to the owner and the movers who according to them are "stand up guys, and have been with the company for several years." How is that any sort of proof or evidence? They were not willing to do any sort of investigation, or compensate me in any way...not even a simple apology! I had a great experience with customer service. I move my house in Summer of 2013 and had Twin Oaks store my furniture in their warehouse and after two months I had them move it to a less expensive storage space. I was looking to buy another home and the deal fell through. Almost a year later in summer of 2014 I go to move my things and the new moving company did not want to touch anything until I acknowledges the furniture damages that Twin Oaks hid when they moved my stuff into storage. My Ethan Allen Tables cannot be restored. And of course I had signed that everything was fine when they moved it into storage because all was covered and went from their truck into the storage locker. Never again, I have a friend who started a moving company and he was who I called and helped me when I say how much damage Twin Oaks did. I'm not attached to material things but after I moved into my new place and looked at the damaged furniture that I worked hard for and I paid Twin Oaks to move, it hurt! read more

The initial move was satisfactory but the ledger to identify the rooms and pieces moved was unclear. Rooms were not identified just numbers attached. Storage method was very satisfactory. The move into the new home was again confusing and less care was taken with the furniture resulting in scratches and breakage (below my 500.00 deductible). Lastly, I contacted the owner regarding a charge on my bill ( which had to be paid by certified check) and was told I would receive a refund. After contacting the owner twice, I never received the refund. Would not recommend based on the above bad faith. read more

WORST movers ever! I have moved between states, moved internationally 3 times and these movers were horrible! They "forgot" a king sized bed. How do you forget a bed?! I have fragile Chinese figureines that I was promised would be packed each in their own box. Never done and some of the fingers were broken. Lampshades were packed without the bases and without the harps and finials. I still haven't found all the pieces. I have a big bag of shoes that I can't find the mates for. Furniture was scratched. Some new neighbors of mine hired Twin Oaks to move their stuff from New Jersey to the neighborhood I live in which is in Maryland. I was not home at the time but my neighbor informed me that they ran over my mail box and left. A box of contacts that had been mail ordered to me (packages that are normally put into the mail boxes) were lying on the side of the street as well. The movers left no note in the mail box nor did they inform any of my neighbors of what they did. From what I can tell, the movers propped up the mail box the best they could after hitting it but it was so unstable it was practically unusable as they left it. They are great in the beginning! Quotes were great everyone was friendly and pleasant. Told me not to worry my stuff would be delivered from New Jersey to Texas with no problems. Unfortunately it was around Christmas time but they told me no problem so I went ahead and hired them to come on December 26, 2014. BIGGEST MISTAKE of my life. I packed all my stuff myself except for the large things like furniture and TVs. First problem was a week before the move they tried telling me that because it is the day after Christmas they can't get a team of movers to work to pick my stuff up! After I screamed and yelled they found 3 guys to pick up my stuff. Second problem was the delivery date. They said my stuff would be at my new house on January 2, 2015! Hahahaha. They call me on December 29th and said the truck broke down my stuff will be at the new house on January 8th! Hahaha my stuff did not show up till January 16th. When it finally showed up they broke 6 plastic bins plus the contents, damaged my leather couch, my leather love seat, my dinning room table, my credenza, my husbands brand new leather office chair, and I paid to have 3 TVs boxed. Only 2 tv boxes showed up to my new house. When I opened the boxes 1 box had 2 TVs in it. But I was charged for 3. We bought their full coverage insurance! Put a claim in for $5000.00. They sent someone to fix my leather furniture and then had the nerve to send me a check for $120.00. Ummm the plastic bins cost more then that!!! And after all said and done you can never get anyone on the phone, and if you do they don't care. Gail is the worst one to deal with and the owner Mike just doesn't care! We truly had confidence in Twin Oaks, hence why we chose them over five others. The move out crew was inexperienced; in fact, one gentlemen mentioned that our home was the first he had packed. They did not have sufficient oacking supplies, so they needed to ask us to borrow ours. As they were packing the kitchen, we noticed they forgot three cabinets worth of breakable glassware. When we brought this to their attention, they stated they did not have any more packing supplies so they "improvised" placing ALL breakables in one bubble wrap, assuring us it would "be fine". We had knots in our stomachs for the month or so in storage wondering how our items faired. The move in crew was wonderful. They were experienced and quite horrified when we showed them how our items were packed. Needeless to say the cabinets that were packed in one solid bubble wrap did not fare well, they were all broken. Keepsakes from my family that I will never get back. We are heartbroken and definitely will not recommend to others. read more
